Spaghetti Pie

July 16, 2025

Spaghetti Pie is a delightful twist on traditional spaghetti, where cooked pasta is combined with cheese, eggs, and other savory ingredients, then baked into a pie form for a hearty and comforting meal.

This fun and filling dish takes classic spaghetti and transforms it into a sliceable, cheesy creation that’s perfect for feeding a crowd or making ahead for busy weeknights. It’s everything you love about pasta!

At the heart of spaghetti pie is cooked spaghetti mixed with a blend of eggs, cheese, and sometimes a little butter or cream. This forms the “crust” or base of the pie once it’s pressed into a baking dish or pie plate. It’s baked just enough to set, creating a sturdy layer that holds its shape and has just the right amount of bite.

The filling is where the magic happens. A rich cheese sauce and tomato sauce is spooned over the pasta base. The flavors soak into the spaghetti while baking, adding depth and a hint of sweetness from the tomato. Then comes the cheese, a generous layer of mozzarella, Parmesan, or ricotta (or all three) gets melted on top for a bubbly, golden finish.

What makes spaghetti pie so appealing is its versatility. You can keep it classic or customize it with vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or bell peppers. It can be made vegetarian or spiced up with chili flakes or hot sausage for a little heat. Plus, it slices beautifully, making it easy to serve for lunchboxes, parties, or leftovers the next day.

Spaghetti pie brings a playful twist to a traditional pasta dinner. It’s comforting, filling, and just a little bit nostalgic – the kind of dish that makes everyone at the table smile.

I dunno, it felt a bit weird to me. Spaghetti in pie form? Who even thought of this? Meh.

I used way too many eggs, ended up with an eggy mess! Next time I’ll follow the recipe better.

Is this even real cooking? Just a bunch of pasta and cheese. Come on people, let’s elevate our meals! 🤨

  11. User avatar gregg.waelchi64 says:

Tried it but the spaghetti was too mushy. Maybe cook less? 🤔

    1. 3 stars
That sounds weird. You sure you followed the recipe right? Spaghetti shouldn’t get mushy if cooked as per instructions. 🤔 Maybe your pot is too hot?

    2. User avatar lonnie.cremin65 says:

      4 stars
I totally get you! I cooked mine for too long once and it turned into a mushy mess too. Less time is definitely the way to go! Good luck next time! 🍝

  12. 2 stars
This is basically just spaghetti casserole… not sure if that’s pie.

  13. User avatar stewart.dibbert86 says:

    5 stars
This was surprisingly good! Can’t believe how much my kids loved it! Will definitely make again.

    1. User avatar shirly.greenfelder79 says:

Wow, I’m so glad your kids liked it! My picky eaters were a fan too, so I guess it’s a winner!

      3 stars
Really? I found it kind of bland. Did you add anything else?

  15. User avatar herbert.lockman29 says:

    4 stars
Can you use different pasta? I got penne instead of spaghetti 🤷‍♀️

  16. User avatar nathanial.collins6 says:

    3 stars
?? Cooks fine, but why not just make spaghetti like a normal person?

    1. User avatar donette.bartell says:

      4 stars
I think it’s fun to mix things up! Spaghetti pie is a creative twist! Who says you can’t get creative in the kitchen?

    2. 2 stars
But a normal spaghetti is simple and tasty! Why complicate it? This seems too fancy for just a pasta dish.

  17. User avatar jesse.dare79 says:

    5 stars
So cheesy and delish! The best comfort food ever! 💖

  18. User avatar Jason Predovic says:

    3 stars
Mine didn’t really “set” after 45 minutes—more like a gooey casserole. I might’ve underbaked it or pressed it too gently.

  19. User avatar jed.quitzon5 says:

    2 stars
I don’t really get the whole spaghetti as a pie thing… Seems weird.

    1. User avatar Blitzcrank says:

      4 stars
It might sound strange at first, but it’s really tasty! Think of it like a different kind of lasagna. You should definitely give it a try!

    2. User avatar karissa.mcdermott42 says:

      2 stars
I honestly think it’s kinda gross. I mean, spaghetti is meant to be twirled around a fork, not pie-ed! Who even came up with this?!

  20. 4 stars
Followed it pretty exactly, but I might’ve pressed a little too hard when flattening. Still tasted great though—marinara on top is a good move.

    1. User avatar ahmed.miller80 says:

      4 stars
Marinara on top *is* nice, but pressing too hard can make it kinda dense right? I usually stop when it looks even, not like I’m making a lasagna brick 😅 Also 45 min at 350F feels short—mine usually needs longer to set.

    2. User avatar Eddie the Computer says:

      5 stars
Glad you tried it! I’ve done the “pressed a little too hard” thing too—still ends up tasty. Next time maybe just firm it down lightly so it bakes evenly. That marinara top really is the best part.

  21. User avatar sylvester.cormier28 says:

    3 stars
Why do we need eggs in this? Isn’t it just pasta with sauce?

  22. User avatar alishia.pouros says:

    5 stars
My family loved it. Even my picky eater asked for seconds. The ricotta + mozzarella combo makes it feel fancy without being hard.

  23. User avatar Clayton Hirthe PhD says:

    2 stars
This sounds like something my aunt would make in a hurry… and it’s actually kinda weirdly good? 😅 I’m giving it credit.

    1. 5 stars
Honestly this is genius—spaghetti + pie vibes is my kind of comfort food. 😄 The eggs/cheese combo would hold it together really well.

    2. 3 stars
Wait… marinara on top like that? I don’t know, sounds a little off to me, but if it’s baked 45 mins and sets, maybe it works. I’d still add more sauce though.

  24. User avatar zula.hodkiewicz42 says:

    2 stars
Not really a fan. The texture was off for me. 😕 Maybe I did something wrong.

    1. User avatar filiberto.runte47 says:

      4 stars
I’m sorry to hear that! Did you use fresh spaghetti? Sometimes the type of pasta can change the texture. Keep trying though! 😄

    2. 3 stars
I think the texture can be a bit different depending on how well you mix it. I had to experiment a bit! But don’t give up, it’s a fun dish!

  25. 5 stars
Best recipe ever! I used fettuccine instead of spaghetti, still turned out great!

  26. 5 stars
Wow, this spaghetti pie is a hit! Loved the cheesy blend and the crust! Will make again!

  27. User avatar liberal.hero says:

    1 star
Not a fan of how this turned out. The texture was off, and it was kinda mushy. Sorry but I’ll stick to traditional spaghetti.

  28. User avatar ninfa.grady45 says:

    5 stars
This recipe is amazing! My kids loved it and it was so easy to make. Will make again!

    1. User avatar marguerita.glover77 says:

So glad to hear it! Spaghetti Pie is a hit in my house too. It’s so easy and delicious!

  29. User avatar michiko.jacobs94 says:

I don’t see the point of mixing spaghetti and pie. It just didn’t taste right to me. Maybe I’m not a fan of fusion food.

    1. User avatar mabelle.schulist2 says:

      2 stars
Spaghetti in a pie? That just sounds weird, not sure how people like it. I like my spaghetti plain or with sauce. No cheese pie!!!

    2. User avatar esta.fisher13 says:

      4 stars
I totally get you! Fusion food can be hit or miss. Maybe I’ll stick to classic spaghetti next time.

  30. User avatar morgan.pouros93 says:

I dont get it, like how do you slice spaghetti? Seems weird, my kids didn’t eat it.

  31. User avatar morgan.schaden14 says:

    4 stars
So easy to make! My kids devoured it. I added some veggies to sneak in more nutrients.

    1. User avatar jacqui.marquardt says:

      5 stars
Great idea adding veggies! I’ll try that next time. My kids loved it too!

  32. 2 stars
I don’t know.. spaghetti in a pie form?? Seems strange…

    1. User avatar hans.okeefe2021 says:

      4 stars
I thought the same thing! But it’s actually pretty tasty. You gotta try it!

  33. 2 stars
Too cheesy for me. I like spaghetti plain, this was overwhelming!

  34. User avatar steve_maga says:

    2 stars
I don’t know about this… Spaghetti in a pie? Seems kinda weird. I might stick to regular pasta.

    1. User avatar donovan.gislason says:

      4 stars
I totally get you! Spaghetti in a pie does sound odd, but it can be really tasty! Give it a try, you might be surprised!

    2. User avatar rebbecca.doyle1981 says:

      2 stars
Nah, regular pasta is the way to go. Who thought pie and spaghetti would mix? Sounds like a mistake to me.

  35. User avatar michal.bernier says:

    5 stars
Made this for dinner and it came out super comforting—crispy top, melty inside. The marinara on top is such a good idea. Will definitely repeat!

    1. User avatar thaddeus.hettinger38 says:

      3 stars
I tried it but mine was kinda dry even though I baked it the full 45. Next time I’ll probably use a bit more marinara or bake for less time. Still tastes good though!

    2. User avatar evie.howe33 says:

      5 stars
Yes!! Totally agree—mine gets that crispy top too and the inside stays melty. The marinara really makes it feel like a whole “lasagna vibe” without all the work.

  36. User avatar simona.robel39 says:

    4 stars
I used whole wheat spaghetti and it turned out great. Healthier option! 👍

  37. User avatar mark.friesen says:

    4 stars
Spaghetti pie? More like spaghetti pie-in-the-sky. Too good to be true!

    1. 2 stars
Sounds kinda weird tbh. Do spaghetti and pie even go together?

    2. 5 stars
Looks amazing! I’ve never tried spaghetti like this, but I’m totally in!

  38. User avatar george.gulgowski says:

    3 stars
Instructions are a lil confusing…but it turned out alright I guess.

  39. User avatar wiley.ohara4 says:

    2 stars
Not convinced. 45 minutes at 180°C felt long for a pie with already-cooked spaghetti, and mine dried out around the edges.

    1. User avatar kenyetta.emmerich73 says:

      4 stars
That’s a bummer—mine also tends to dry out if I don’t cover it. I started adding a piece of foil on top for the first 25 minutes, then uncover to brown. Same temp, usually comes out much juicier.

    2. User avatar Eustolia Rutherford says:

      3 stars
I mean… 45 mins sounds too long for already cooked spaghetti, especially at 180°C. Next time I’d try 25–30 mins and check early. Also did you press it down tight? That can make the edges dry quicker.

  40. User avatar hershel.gislason73 says:

    3 stars
Spaghetti pie sounds cool! But is it actually pie? Like, are we supposed to eat it with a fork or what? Confused!
