Frozen Mango Margarita

July 22, 2025

Frozen Mango Margarita is the ultimate sun-soaked cocktail that feels like a tropical vacation in a glass. With its bright golden hue, smooth icy texture, and perfect balance of sweet mango and tangy lime, this frozen drink is a warm-weather staple, and it’s easier to make than you might think.

It all starts with ripe mango. You can use fresh mango chunks if you’ve got them, but frozen mango works just as well and saves prep time (plus helps give that frosty texture without watering it down with too much ice). Blend it with freshly squeezed lime juice, a splash of orange liqueur like triple sec or Cointreau, and a generous pour of good tequila, silver or reposado both work, depending on your flavor preference.

What makes the frozen version stand out is its slushy consistency. A handful of ice cubes brings it all together in the blender until it’s thick, smooth, and spoon-worthy. You want something that’s sippable but not too runny, think frozen daiquiri or soft sorbet texture.

The final touch? A salted rim. It’s a simple detail that balances the sweetness of the mango and adds a little sophistication. Just run a lime wedge around the edge of your glass, dip it in flaky salt, and you’ve got a margarita that looks as good as it tastes. Garnish with a slice of lime or a wedge of mango if you’re feeling fancy.

This frozen mango margarita is perfect for poolside lounging, backyard BBQs, taco nights, or any time you want to shake up a fun, fruity cocktail. You can even skip the alcohol and make a mocktail version with orange juice or sparkling water for a refreshing non-alcoholic twist.

Whether you’re celebrating something special or just trying to cool down, this icy cocktail is a guaranteed mood-lifter.

Sounds like your blender might be on its last legs! I use a high-powered one for this kind of stuff, and it works like a charm. You could always try letting the ice sit out for a bit to soften it.
