Turmeric latte, also known as “golden milk,” is a warm, comforting drink made with milk (or plant-based alternatives) and infused with turmeric and other aromatic spices like cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper. This golden-hued beverage has gained worldwide popularity for both its health benefits and delicious taste.
At the heart of this latte is turmeric, a bright yellow spice long used in Ayurvedic and traditional medicine. The key compound in turmeric, curcumin, is known for its powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Regular consumption of turmeric may help reduce joint pain, support heart health, and improve digestion.
One of the essential ingredients often added to a turmeric latte is black pepper, which contains piperine. Piperine significantly enhances the absorption of curcumin in the body, making this combination not only flavorful but also more effective in delivering health benefits. Ginger and cinnamon bring warmth and depth to the drink, while also aiding digestion and helping regulate blood sugar levels.
To make a basic turmeric latte at home, simply warm your choice of milk (dairy, almond, oat, or coconut) and whisk in ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, and other optional spices like cinnamon, ginger, or nutmeg. A touch of honey or maple syrup can be added for sweetness, though the natural flavors are often satisfying on their own.
Not only is turmeric latte a great caffeine-free alternative to your morning coffee or afternoon tea, but it also makes for a soothing nighttime drink. It’s perfect for winding down after a busy day, offering both comfort and nourishment.
Beyond its health perks, this golden milk has become a lifestyle drink, featured in cafés, health blogs, and social media feeds for its stunning color and wellness appeal. Whether you’re embracing it for its health benefits or simply for a cozy cup of something different, the turmeric latte truly earns its reputation as a golden elixir.

Why do people rave about turmeric? It doesn’t do much for me. Just tastes weird.
This is just okay. I thought it would be more ginger-y. Maybe I’ll add more next time.
Super easy to make and healthy! Plus, turmeric is great for inflammation. 👍
Yuck! The black pepper ruined it for me. Who puts pepper in a latte??
it was ok i guess. kinda hard to make. wheres the espresso? lmao
I think it was meant to be more of a spiced milk drink than a coffee drink! The espresso isn’t part of it, lol. But you did well trying something new!
Absolutely love this recipe! So tasty and warm. Perfect for chilly mornings.
The honey made it sweet enough, but I think it needs more spice for flavor!
I totally agree! A bit more spice would really make it pop. Perhaps a dash of nutmeg or cloves too?
Not my favorite drink. It tastes kinda like mustard milk. 🤢
I’ve never used turmeric before. It was surprisingly good! Will make again.
Turmeric latte? Never heard of it, but I tried it. Not bad!
I love turmeric but I didn’t think it could be this tasty in a drink! Definitely a keeper!
This is such a cozy drink. The pepper with the turmeric makes it taste way more “complete” than I expected—love it with oat milk!
Couldn’t get it to “not boil.” I heated a bit too high and it foamed up—still drank it, but texture was weird.
Simple and delicious! My kids love it too. Who knew turmeric could taste so good?!
Wow, I never knew a drink could be so healthy and tasty at the same time! Plus, it’s so easy to make.
Cinnamon in tea? Nah, I think that’s bleh. Turmeric is alright, but I’ll stick to my regular coffee.
Pretty good, but I think 1 tsp turmeric is a lot for my taste. Next time I’ll do 3/4 tsp and see.
Turmeric latte tastes like curry to me 😅 I get the hype but I’ll probably cut the turmeric in half.
Really disappointed. The honey made it too sweet, and I couldn’t taste the spices. Won’t make again.
I thought it was perfect! Maybe try less honey next time? Just a suggestion!
Yum! Perfect for chilly evenings. Honey makes it better, I added a lot more than a tablespoon.
meh
I made it with oat milk and used maple syrup instead of honey. Super comforting, not too sweet. Cinnamon and ginger combo is perfect.
Good basic recipe. I was worried the turmeric would taste too earthy, but the cinnamon and honey really balance it. Definitely not too spicy.
Yes!! I had the same fear about turmeric being super earthy, but this combo really works. I used a little extra cinnamon and it tasted cozy, not spicy at all. Thanks for sharing!
Yuck! I didn’t like this at all. Not a fan of turmeric and it tasted grassy.
Not my cup of tea, the turmeric flavor is too strong. I prefer my lattes with more coffee flavor!
Nah, turmeric is the best! Coffee is just too bitter. We need some healthy vibes in our drinks!
I totally get it! Turmeric can be quite overpowering if you’re not used to it. Maybe try a different spice blend next time?
I followed it exactly and it turned out… fine? The flavor is pleasant but kind of subtle. I might increase turmeric to 1.5 tsp next time for more punch.
Totally get that—mine is also more “warm and cozy” than bold. I do 1 1/2 tsp turmeric and it really wakes up the flavor.
5 stars already. easy peasy
I tried this but I think my turmeric was old? It turned the milk a weird brown color and didn’t smell right. Otherwise the idea seems fine.
I had that happen once too. I used turmeric that was like super old in my cupboard and it was kinda gross, but the flavor was still “okay-ish.” Try using less and stirring more, maybe your cinnamon/ginger was old too? Also don’t boil it—mine went weird when it simmered too long.
Oh yeah, old turmeric can do that—dull smell and that funky brown tint. Next time you might try fresh turmeric (or even bloom it briefly in a tiny bit of hot milk) and make sure it’s not past the expiration date.
Made it exactly as written and it was good, but I had to add a little more honey. Also, whisking helps—if you don’t, you’ll get little turmeric clumps.
This turmeric latte is amazing! I add a bit more honey for sweetness and it’s perfect.
