Spicy Seafood Ramen

March 20, 2026

Spicy seafood ramen is a dish that hits all the right notes – rich, savory, spicy, and deeply satisfying. It’s the kind of meal that warms you from the inside out, with tender noodles swimming in a bold broth, and a mix of ocean-fresh seafood that adds both texture and flavor.

At its core is the broth, which is where the magic begins. A combination of miso, chili paste (like gochujang or chili sauce), garlic, ginger, and fish sauce gives the soup depth and heat. It’s simmered with kombu, dried shiitake mushrooms, and sometimes a bit of dried seafood to create a layered, umami-packed base. The result is a broth that’s spicy but not overwhelming, it wakes up your palate without burning it out.

The seafood mix can include shrimp, mussels, squid, scallops, or even a piece of flaky white fish, depending on what’s available. Each adds its own flavor and cooks quickly, soaking up the heat of the broth while staying tender and juicy. Some versions even include a soft-boiled egg for richness and a bit of balance.

The ramen noodles are chewy and springy, perfect for slurping and holding onto the broth. Toppings like sautéed bok choy, corn, bean sprouts, or sliced green onions bring freshness and crunch, while a drizzle of chili oil or a spoonful of spicy paste adds extra kick for those who can handle more heat.

Whether you’re chasing away the chill or just craving something bold and comforting, spicy seafood ramen delivers. It’s a bowlful of comfort with a spicy edge, perfect for cozy nights or anytime you want a taste of the sea with a little fire.

I don’t like ramen but tried this for my partner. They loved it! Guess it’s not so bad 🤷‍♀️

Absolutely loved this recipe! The flavors are outstanding. Will definitely make it again.

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! The gochujang really does bring out unique flavors, doesn’t it? Can’t wait to try this myself!

  5. User avatar rigoberto.kovacek says:

    2 stars
This was the most complicated recipe ever! I’m not sure what I did wrong, but it didn’t taste like ramen.

    1. User avatar dulce.oreilly says:

      3 stars
Maybe you missed a step? It’s not that hard if you follow the instructions closely. I thought it was delicious!

    2. User avatar orpha.windler85 says:

      4 stars
I thought it was complicated too, but once I tried it a second time, it turned out great! Maybe just give it another shot?

  6. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

    3 stars
The eggs were perfect! but what’s with all the fancy ingredients? I just want a simple broth…

  7. 4 stars
No seafood here, but I used chicken instead. Was still tasty! Need to try with seafood next time.

  8. User avatar jack.cummerata39 says:

    3 stars
I made this but forgot the eggs. Still turned out okay, but I feel like I missed the best part. Who needs eggs anyways?

  9. User avatar jimmy.schmitt89 says:

    2 stars
Too much work for a simple meal. I like my ramen simple, this was just too much.

  10. User avatar ryan.pfeffer says:

    5 stars
This is the best ramen I’ve had! I usually just buy the instant ones, but this is way better.

  11. User avatar jerica.grimes78 says:

    1 star
I don’t know what y’all are talking about, I couldn’t get into this dish. Ramen is supposed to be simple!

    1. User avatar damien.doyle says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean! Sometimes simpler is better. But this one has so much flavor! Maybe give it another shot?

    2. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

      5 stars
But ramen is not just noodles! It can be really boosty with flavors! This recipe is a whole vibe lol.

  12. 4 stars
I was a bit skeptical about the gochujang, but wow! It adds a nice kick. Definitely a keeper recipe!

  13. User avatar charlette.feeney57 says:

    2 stars
Not sure about this one. Too spicy for my taste! I thought seafood ramen was suppose to be mild.

  14. User avatar ALTplusF4 says:

    5 stars
This ramen is sooo good! The flavors are on point and it’s super easy to make. My family loved it!

  15. User avatar marcela.bailey29 says:

    3 stars
Ramen good. Make me happy. But my kids wouldn’t eat it. Too spicy for them. 🤷‍♂️

    1. User avatar gregory.hill56 says:

      4 stars
You might want to tone down the spice for kids. Maybe swap the gochujang for mild chili paste? Still can be tasty!

    2. User avatar Lunkwill and Fook says:

      3 stars
Yummy, but my kids wouldn’t eat spicy stuff either. Maybe just leave out the hot peppers?

  16. 3 stars
Too spicy for my taste! I had to add sugar to balance it out. Maybe less gochujang next time.

    1. 2 stars
Why would you add sugar?! The whole point is to enjoy the spice! Just eat something milder next time, it’s ramen, not a dessert.

    2. 4 stars
I actually love it spicy! Gochujang gives it such a nice kick. But I get it, everyone has different taste buds. Maybe try adding more broth next time? It might tone it down a bit!

  17. User avatar denyse.bauch1974 says:

    3 stars
Do I really need all these sauces? Can I just use soy sauce or something? Not everyone has mirin at home.

  18. User avatar samual.block says:

    2 stars
I don’t get why people rave about this. It was too spicy for my taste and the seafood didn’t seem fresh.

    1. User avatar Marcelo Flatley says:

      4 stars
I can understand your point! Spicy can be a dealbreaker for some. But maybe try it with less gochujang next time? And fresh seafood is key, for sure!

    2. User avatar venessa.nolan2016 says:

      3 stars
Nah, I love the spice! 😍 And my seafood was fine when I made it. Must’ve been a bad batch for you. Give it another shot!

  19. 3 stars
I don’t know about the gochujang, seems too spicy for me. Maybe I will use less next time.

  20. 4 stars
The instructions were kinda confusing, I mixed up some steps and it still turned out okay tho. Great with some extra chili flakes!

  21. User avatar Hotblack Desiato's bodyguard says:

    Ramen is life! 🥢

  22. User avatar sammy.morissette says:

    5 stars
This was amazing! The flavors are so rich and delicious. Definitely a keeper!

  23. 2 stars
Eh, I don’t see what the big deal is. It’s just ramen with seafood. Can get better at a restaurant.

  24. User avatar lorette.johnson1975 says:

    3 stars
I tried it but the gochujang was too hot for me. My mouth was burning! But the seafood was great.

  25. 4 stars
    Yummy in my tummy!

  26. User avatar kennith.donnelly31 says:

    5 stars
Yum! I added some extra shrimp and it turned out delicious! Will make again for sure.

    1. User avatar sirena.adams says:

      2 stars
Isn’t ramen just noodles in soup? Not sure if adding shrimp makes it any better.

    2. User avatar edgar.mertz1990 says:

      5 stars
Wow, extra shrimp sounds great! I might try that next time too!

  27. User avatar yen.sauer says:

    2 stars
I forgot the soy sauce! 😭 It turned out bland. Next time I’ll follow the recipe

  28. User avatar kenda.considine18 says:

Seafood? No thanks, I’m a chicken person! That’s just how I am.

    1. User avatar Donna Gerhold says:

      5 stars
I totally get you! I’m not a big fan of seafood either. Chicken all the way! 🐔

  29. 5 stars
My family loved it, even the kids who usually don’t like seafood! Definitely a new favorite dish!

  30. User avatar joshua.padberg96 says:

    4 stars
Is gochujang necessary? I thought hot pepper powder would work too. Anyways, it turned out fine.

  31. 5 stars
OMG this was so good, I just couldn’t stop eating! Even my kids liked it!

    1. User avatar orville.deckow72 says:

      5 stars
Wow, that sounds amazing! I’m so glad your kids loved it too! Can’t wait to try this myself.

  32. User avatar florencio.champlin99 says:

    4 stars
I never cooked with gochujang before. Its kinda spicy but all flavors came together nicely! Will definitely try again.

    1. 5 stars
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Gochujang can really elevate a dish. Did you add any extra toppings?

    2. User avatar corrie.stokes2018 says:

      3 stars
I tried it but the gochujang was too spicy for my liking. I think next time I’ll tone it down!

  33. User avatar temika.stark says:

    4 stars
I was skeptical about the fish sauce, but it really adds something special! Nice recipe!

    1. User avatar brandee.kemmer28 says:

      3 stars
Fish sauce? Really? Seems kinda weird for ramen, but I’m willing to try it out. Thanks for sharing!

    2. User avatar olga.johnson24 says:

      5 stars
I never woulda thought to use fish sauce in ramen, but you nailed it! Way to go!

  34. User avatar frida.parker34 says:

    1 star
Too many ingredients for me. Why cant it be simpler? Just some noodles and broth should do!

    1. User avatar waylon.halvorson1972 says:

      4 stars
I get that, but sometimes a little complexity leads to bigger flavors! Maybe give it a shot? 😊

  35. User avatar kati.lowe says:

    4 stars
What can I say? My kids didn’t like it, but I loved it! I guess they’re just picky.

  36. User avatar devin.parisian96 says:

    5 stars
OMG, this is FIRE! Better than anything from Takeout. Can’t wait to make it again!

  37. 5 stars
Yum! The seafood was cooked perfectly and the broth was soooo good. Will make again!

  38. User avatar juana.zemlak1971 says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but my noodles got a bit mushy since I cooked them separately and then dunked them right away. Next time I’ll rinse and maybe add noodles later so they stay springy.

  39. User avatar leisa.smitham says:

    4 stars
Pretty tasty, but I’d tone down the gochujang next time—mine got a bit too hot. Also added extra broth because 4 cups + 1 cup water felt thick to me.

    1. User avatar ronald.mccullough1999 says:

      5 stars
Glad you liked it! Yeah gochujang can be deceptively spicy—next time I’d try 1/2 to 3/4 tbsp first and adjust. And adding extra broth makes total sense; 4 cups + 1 cup water can thicken depending on how it simmers.

  40. User avatar Goku Black says:

    2 stars
Way too much work for ramen. Onion, garlic, ginger, paste, broth, seafood… I’m lazy lol. But flavor is solid.

  41. 4 stars
Pretty good flavor, but I might reduce the gochujang next time. Mine came out a little too spicy and salty—could be because my broth was already seasoned. Still, the steps are easy and the broth smells amazing.

    1. User avatar Samira Pollich says:

      5 stars
Totally agree on dialing back gochujang. I love the flavor but once it’s too spicy it takes over everything—next time I’ll start with 1 tbsp like a “safe” version.

    2. 4 stars
Good call on the broth being already seasoned. I learned the hard way that soy sauce/fish sauce/extra salt all stack fast. Did you taste the broth before adding the gochujang?

  42. User avatar gary.macgyver37 says:

    1 star
Not great. The broth tasted kinda bland. I think it needs more spices or something.

  43. User avatar francesco.paucek36 says:

    2 stars
Not sure about using both soy sauce and fish sauce—feels like overkill. Also “4 cups broth” plus “1 cup water” seems random. I think I’d tweak the liquid ratio, but the rest sounds legit.

  44. User avatar raleigh.mayert says:

    5 stars
This sounds dangerously good. Gochujang + fish sauce is such a power combo. I might add mushrooms too for extra depth.

    1. User avatar lucio.mertz99 says:

      5 stars
Right?! Gochujang + fish sauce is absolutely a power combo. I bet the broth gets that perfect sweet-heat + savory depth.

    2. User avatar caleb.labadie66 says:

      5 stars
Adding mushrooms is such a good call. I’d probably sauté them with the onion/garlic so they soak up the gochujang flavors.

  45. User avatar billie.bednar45 says:

    5 stars
This ramen is ah-mazing! The spice level is just right. My whole family loved it! Will make again for sure!

  46. User avatar shaun.corkery10 says:

    5 stars
Wow, this ramen is ridiculously good. The gochujang + fish sauce combo is magic, and the eggs make it feel restaurant-level. I used shrimp only and it still worked great.

    1. User avatar ela.abbott89 says:

      5 stars
Yes!! That gochujang + fish sauce combo is the cheat code. I made it last week and it tasted way better than takeout.

    2. 4 stars
I’m skeptical but in a good way—fish sauce in ramen is kinda wild. Glad to hear it actually works with shrimp too!

  47. User avatar basementDweller says:

    3 stars
Not sure about the fish sauce amount… it’s a little strong for my taste. Still good though—just needed less on my end.

  48. 2 stars
Honestly I think ramen should not take this many sauces 😅 it’s like 8 different flavors yelling. Still, my boyfriend loved it so I guess it works.

  49. 3 stars
I don’t know about using gochujang. It was too spicy for me. Maybe try less next time?

  50. User avatar fred.christiansen21 says:

    4 stars
Pretty tasty, but I think 10 minutes simmer might be a bit short for max flavor. Next time I’ll simmer longer and maybe add a pinch of sugar.

  51. User avatar loyd.cummerata2019 says:

    4 stars
Tried something similar once and it was good, but I always forget to soften the aromatics long enough. Onion 5 min + garlic/ginger 2 min feels right. Would absolutely do again.

    1. User avatar MAGA2024.Trumpster says:

      5 stars
Yes! The aromatics timing is everything—onion first until translucent is such a good call. I’ll try the garlic/ginger for 2 minutes next time. Sounds killer.

    2. User avatar merlin.ankunding says:

      3 stars
I’m not sure about cooking garlic+ginger only 2 min… mine always burns if I’m not careful, so I usually go more like 30-60 seconds. Still, the combo with gochujang sounds amazing.

  52. User avatar herb.nolan25 says:

    5 stars
Delish!!! Would eat this every day if I could. 😋

  53. 5 stars
Wow, the gochujang + fish sauce combo sounds like it’ll be super deep and not just “spicy.” I’m making this for dinner this week—thanks for the clear steps!

    1. 5 stars
Yes!! The fish sauce with gochujang is such a good savory/fermented combo—makes it taste way more complex than “just spicy.” Hope dinner goes great!

  54. User avatar anonymous_hacker says:

    3 stars
I followed it exactly and it was… okay? The base tasted great, but the seafood seemed kinda overcooked after 5 minutes (or my mix was thinner). Next time I’ll add seafood later or shorten the time.

  55. 4 stars
Pretty solid recipe. I used shrimp + scallops and the broth tasted like restaurant ramen. I might cut the gochujang a tiny bit next time only because I’m not the hottest-food person.

  56. User avatar kendra.bechtelar19 says:

    4 stars
Solid recipe, but I’d cut the cook time on the seafood a bit. Mine got a touch rubbery after 5 minutes in the simmering broth.

  57. User avatar King Cold says:

    3 stars
Confusing step: it says cook ramen noodles separately, but I always like cooking in the broth. Anyone tried it? Might change the vibe.

  58. User avatar booker.cormier68 says:

    5 stars
Tried this tonight—so flavorful. The gochujang + fish sauce combo is a little wild at first but it really works with the seafood. My eggs were perfect too.

  59. User avatar Super Saiyan Goku says:

    4 stars
My onion took like 15 minutes to get translucent because I had the heat too low. Once I got the base going, it smelled amazing. Eggs were the best part.

  60. 4 stars
Gochujang is spicy, so I added less than 1 tbsp. Still super good, and the eggs on top were perfect. 10/10 comfort food.

  61. 4 stars
Um, cilantro with ramen sounds kinda weird, but I tried it anyway. It’s actually refreshing, not too much—would recommend!

  62. User avatar jae.hill20 says:

    3 stars
Not sure about the mirin + gochujang combo… tasted kinda sweet to me, like ramen had dessert vibes. Might be my brand of paste.

    1. 4 stars
I get what you mean. My first batch was way too sweet too. I used a mild gochujang from a “glaze” style brand though. Switched to a hotter one and it fixed it for me.

    2. User avatar madge.bradtke9 says:

      5 stars
Interesting take—mirin does add sweetness, so if your gochujang is already sweet/less spicy, yeah it can start tasting like “dessert ramen” 😂. Next time maybe cut mirin to 1/2 tbsp or skip it if the paste is sweet.

  63. 5 stars
I made it exactly once and now it’s my go-to “weeknight ramen.” Swapped the seafood mix for what I had (frozen shrimp/calamari) and it still worked great.

  64. User avatar kasha.kris1967 says:

    5 stars
This is such a cozy bowl. The gochujang + fish sauce combo is bold but it totally works—like restaurant-level. I used frozen shrimp and squid and it cooked up perfectly in the 5 minutes.

    1. User avatar billie.dooley says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—gochujang + fish sauce is such a power combo. I love how it tastes “bigger” than the effort.

  65. User avatar angie.pfannerstill43 says:

    3 stars
The ingredients list is legit, but 4 cups broth + 1 cup water seems a lil watery with two packs of noodles. Still, I’d try it.

  66. User avatar claudie.rice48 says:

    3 stars
I’m skeptical about adding mirin to ramen (like, doesn’t it get sweet?). But I’ll admit Korean flavors are tricky in a good way. Might be worth trying.

  67. User avatar bruce.cremin81 says:

    3 stars
Why does the recipe need mirin? I just used extra soy sauce and it was fine.

  68. User avatar alejandro.stroman says:

    3 stars
3 stars only cuz I felt like it needed more ginger? I used 1 tbsp like it says but maybe my ginger was weak. Ended up adding another pinch at the end.

    1. User avatar shani.lindgren2 says:

      4 stars
I totally get that—1 tbsp ginger didn’t feel like enough for me either. I went with closer to 2 tbsp next time and it tasted way brighter. This is a solid base though.

  69. User avatar pauline.boyer45 says:

    2 stars
I’m skeptical about seafood ramen with chicken broth. Like, shouldn’t it be all seafood? But I guess the soy/fish sauce covers it.

    1. User avatar Eldon Schimmel V says:

      2 stars
Not gonna lie, I’m still thinkin it should be seafood broth only. Chicken broth in a seafood ramen just sounds kinda wrong to me… even with fish sauce. But I’d try it once, I guess.

    2. User avatar Loonquawl says:

      4 stars
I totally get the skepticism 😅 but honestly chicken broth + fish sauce/soy/gochujang can make it taste more “umami” than “mixed.” I’ve done similar swaps and it still slaps.

  70. User avatar wai.mcdermott61 says:

    3 stars
I followed the steps but my seafood got rubbery… probably my timing. The broth was still flavorful though, so I’d retry with shorter seafood cook time.

    1. User avatar Dee Liver says:

      5 stars
Ugh rubbery seafood is the worst 😭 5 minutes might be too long depending on how thawed it is. Next time I’d cut it to like 1–3 minutes and turn the heat down right when you add it. Glad the broth still worked though!

    2. 4 stars
This makes sense. Squid especially goes chewy if you overcook it. I usually add seafood at a gentle simmer (not a rolling boil) and pull it as soon as shrimp are just pink.

  71. 4 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about cooking the gochujang for just 1 minute. It worked though—less raw-taste, more depth. Solid recipe.

  72. User avatar jamel.champlin says:

    3 stars
I’m not sure about cooking seafood only 5 minutes. Mine got a little rubbery. I might reduce time or add delicate stuff later. Flavor was still good though!

  73. 4 stars
Easy to make! I used frozen seafood and it still tasted delicious. Thanks for sharing!

    1. User avatar ALTplusF4 says:

      4 stars
I’m glad it turned out good using frozen seafood! Do you think fresh would have made a big difference?

    2. User avatar Michael83 says:

      3 stars
Frozen?! I dunno. Fresh is the best for ramen. But if it tastes good to you, who am I to judge?

  74. 3 stars
I followed it pretty close, but I ran out of broth and had to use extra water… tasted a little flat. Next time I’ll stick to the amounts.

  75. User avatar jeffrey.champlin2005 says:

    5 stars
    Fire!!!

  76. User avatar austin.kovacek says:

    5 stars
This hits the perfect spicy-savory combo. The gochujang + fish sauce depth is unreal, and the soft-boiled eggs make it feel restaurant-level.

  77. 5 stars
I love ramen, and Korean flavors make it taste like I’m at a shop. Soft-boiled eggs on top? Yes.

    1. User avatar Slartibartfast says:

      5 stars
That combo sounds spot on—gochujang + fish sauce is such a good flavor punch. I love the soft-boiled egg idea too. Definitely trying this.

  78. 3 stars
Not sure I did it right—my broth ended up too salty. I used regular soy sauce and maybe my fish sauce was stronger than the recipe. Still edible though, and the spice smell was awesome.

    1. User avatar vickie.rath says:

Oof, salty broth is such a bummer 😅. Sounds like the soy sauce/fish sauce balance got thrown off. Next time I’d start with less fish sauce (like 1/2 tbsp) and add more only after tasting the simmer.

Loved how the gochujang really warms up the broth. The fish sauce + soy combo is the ticket—tastes super “restaurant” to me.

This recipe looks too complicated for a weeknight. Like, too many sauces and steps. I did it once and won’t again, sorry. Flavor was fine, just not worth it.

  81. 4 stars
My broth came out kinda too spicy (maybe my gochujang brand was hotter?). Still ate it all, so… success?

  82. User avatar GOPster says:

    5 stars
Made this tonight and it’s seriously cozy. The gochujang gives a deep heat without tasting like pure chili paste. My seafood was frozen shrimp/squid and it worked perfectly.

Tbh I didn’t have cilantro so I used parsley (yeah I know). It was still good, just not as fresh-smelling.

I made something similar but didn’t soften the onions long enough—big difference here. The broth steps are solid.

    1. User avatar joe_banana says:

      5 stars
Totally agree on the onions—when they’re not soft and sweet it makes the whole broth taste harsher. I usually go closer to 7-8 minutes until they’re really translucent. Glad the broth steps worked for you!

    2. User avatar aliza.harris says:

      3 stars
I followed it but my broth felt a lil too salty. I also only cooked the onion like 3 mins (oops). Next time I’ll soften longer and maybe cut back the fish sauce/soy a touch. Still tasty though!

  85. User avatar Glossu "Beast" Rabban says:

Gochujang is spicy right? So like, how spicy is this really? I’m worried it’ll blow my head off lol.

My seafood mix was old and it ruined the whole dish. Don’t use stuff that’s been in the freezer for ages!

  87. 4 stars
I was skeptical about using both fish sauce and soy sauce, but it’s balanced—like savory with a deeper funk. Also, cooking onions/garlic/ginger first makes a huge difference.

Ok so… I think I forgot the sesame oil (or I used it in the wrong thing lol). It was still decent though. Might try again with all ingredients.

    1. User avatar bradford.koch96 says:

      4 stars
Honestly that happens a lot—sesame oil is strong but it’s not totally required. If you try again, add it at the end so the flavor stays punchy.

  89. User avatar helena.wyman2025 says:

Not gonna lie, the fish sauce threw me off at first. But after simmering, it mellowed and actually made everything taste more “seafood-y.”

  90. User avatar micheal.white says:

    5 stars
This was actually easier than I expected. I used frozen shrimp + mussels and it cooked through fine in the 5 minutes.

  91. 4 stars
The flavor is good, but the instruction to boil ramen separately is key—I tried to cook noodles in the broth and it turned cloudy and starchy.

  92. User avatar roselle.borer59 says:

    4 stars
Good flavor, but I’d reduce the fish sauce just a hair. Mine came out a bit too “funky” (still tasty tho). Also used frozen shrimp and mussels—worked fine.

    1. User avatar jenniffer.kihn says:

      5 stars
Totally agree on the fish sauce—mine was super “funky” the first time too. I started with like 1/2 tbsp less and it’s way more balanced.

    2. User avatar jesse.price2013 says:

      4 stars
Good call about frozen seafood. I always worry it’ll get rubbery, but if it worked for you I’ll stop overthinking it 😅

  93. 4 stars
Yummy, but can I add more eggs? I love eggs in my ramen!

    1. 5 stars
Totally! The more eggs the better! Just adjust the boiling time so they stay soft. Enjoy!

    2. User avatar Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz says:

      3 stars
I dunno… more eggs might make it too rich? But hey, if you like it, go for it!

  94. User avatar Tryndamere says:

    3 stars
My seafood mix took longer than 5 minutes. I had to keep checking because the shrimp were turning rubbery. Flavor was good, timing was off for my brand.

  95. User avatar sang.volkman40 says:

    5 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about the fish sauce + mirin combo, but it actually tastes like restaurant ramen. My whole kitchen smelled amazing.

  96. User avatar gay.strosin72 says:

The soft-boiled eggs make this meal. I know it’s extra work but wow, they fit perfectly with the ramen.

    1. User avatar Edmund Wisozk Sr. says:

      4 stars
I totally agree. I usually skip the “extra work” step for eggs, but here it’s worth it. The yolk + gochujang broth combo is chef’s kiss.

    2. User avatar Shaddam Corrino IV says:

      5 stars
Yes!! Soft-boiled eggs are the move. The runny yolk just makes the spicy broth feel way richer—great call pairing them with ramen.

  97. User avatar lorene.barrows1 says:

    4 stars
I’m skeptical about using mirin + fish sauce + soy together—sounds like it could get salty. But surprisingly it balanced out.

  98. User avatar christel.stoltenberg2019 says:

    3 stars
Gochujang is expensive where I live, so I used less than called for. Tasted okay, but it wasn’t spicy enough for me. Still a cozy bowl.

  99. User avatar joe_banana says:

Why 4 cups broth plus 1 cup water? Feels like a lot of liquid for ramen. Still, it came out good and spicy—just soupier than expected.

    1. User avatar lane.jakubowski25 says:

      4 stars
My ramen is always soupier too 😂 I used the same ratio and it still tasted great. I kinda like it that way—more broth to sip while you eat the noodles.

    2. User avatar jude.kautzer says:

      4 stars
Yeah I get what you mean—4 cups broth + 1 cup water is definitely more liquid than “restaurant” ramen. But I think the extra water helps mellow the gochujang/fish sauce and also accounts for the noodles soaking up some of the liquid. If you want it thicker, next time reduce the water to 1/2 cup.

The instructions are easy enough, but “cook for 10 minutes to meld” felt short to me. I let it simmer longer and it was even better.

    1. User avatar daniel.kautzer77 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—10 minutes is kinda fast for “meld.” I usually do closer to 20 and the gochujang really rounds out.

  102. 4 stars
Honestly, I don’t like cilantro so I swapped it for parsley and it was fine. Also used chicken broth and added extra garlic—still hit the spot.

    1. User avatar marnie.hill1 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—cilantro is divisive. Parsley works great as a milder garnish, and the extra garlic sounds like a win.

  103. User avatar King of Hyrule says:

    4 stars
Ok but my eggs didn’t come out soft boiled at all (I boiled way too long, my bad). Still tasted great though. Also cilantro is not optional 😅

  104. User avatar Slartibartfast says:

Tried this tonight and it’s legit spicy in the best way. The gochujang really makes the broth taste deep—next time I’ll add a little extra ginger for my own obsession.

  105. User avatar Jaimee Jakubowski says:

    3 stars
My broth tasted a little too salty with both soy sauce and fish sauce—next time I’ll cut one. Still, the seafood came out great and the broth had good heat.

  106. User avatar Michael83 says:

    5 stars
This turned out insanely flavorful—especially the gochujang + ginger combo. I used frozen shrimp and it was great. Will definitely make again.

  107. User avatar laurence.kiehn3 says:

    4 stars
I was skeptical about adding mirin with all the other sauces, but it actually balances the heat. I added a squeeze of lime at the end and it popped even more.

  108. User avatar Clinton Rohan says:

    5 stars
This was way better than I expected. The gochujang + fish sauce combo is 🔥 and the eggs make it feel like a legit ramen shop bowl.

  109. 5 stars
Gochujang + fish sauce is a wild combo but… wow. I was skeptical, but the broth tastes restaurant-level. Definitely making again.

  110. User avatar Treebeard says:

I love seafood ramen and this hit the spot. The ginger is subtle but it makes the whole thing taste fresh. Definitely adding this to my regular rotation.

  111. User avatar Michael83 says:

    3 stars
I don’t usually add cilantro, so I skipped it. I guess it would be better with it—my bowl felt a bit one-note without that fresh herb pop.

  112. User avatar chantay.rowe says:

    3 stars
Not sure about 5 minutes for the seafood mix—squid can get rubbery fast. I’d probably add shrimp later.

    1. User avatar millard.okon says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—squid goes chewy fast. I usually cook squid for like 1–2 minutes max and add shrimp near the end too.

  113. User avatar elli.cartwright says:

    4 stars
Not gonna lie, I messed up and overcooked the seafood (kinda chewy). But the broth still slapped. Gonna try again and be more careful w timing lol.

  114. User avatar lynn.boyle2021 says:

So good!!! The eggs on top are a game changer. My family asked for seconds (and I’m not even a “ramen person”).

  115. User avatar randy.lindgren20 says:

    4 stars
I followed it mostly, but my onions burned a little because I was cooking on too high heat. Still saved it and the broth ended up pretty awesome.

  116. User avatar alisa.olson says:

    5 stars
Followed it pretty much exactly—except I used shrimp only. Still super flavorful and the broth smelled amazing. I’ll make this again for sure.

  117. User avatar suspiciousCommentator says:

The directions say cook noodles according to package instructions, but my package said 3 minutes and I overcooked anyway 😅. Sauce is strong—next time I’ll rinse noodles a little so they don’t get gummy.

  118. 2 stars
I might be doing something wrong but my broth tasted salty as heck. I think my fish sauce was extra salty and I didn’t measure the soy right. Still ate it, but yeah.

  119. User avatar ShanksOnePiece says:

    4 stars
Pretty tasty, but I think 4 cups broth + 1 cup water might be a bit much for my pot—next time I’ll do a touch less water so it’s thicker. Still, great flavor balance with fish sauce + soy + mirin.

  120. User avatar geoWizard says:

    5 stars
Okay this was actually fire 🔥 The eggs on top make it feel restaurant-level. I used frozen shrimp mix and it cooked fast like you said.
