A lentil frittata is a flavorful and nutrient-dense take on the classic Italian-inspired dish. Frittatas have long been a brunch favorite, known for their versatility and ability to transform simple ingredients into a hearty, satisfying meal. By adding lentils, this version gets a boost of plant-based protein and fiber, making it an excellent choice for those looking for a wholesome, filling breakfast or a light, balanced lunch.
Lentils bring a subtle earthiness to the frittata, complementing the richness of eggs and pairing beautifully with vegetables, herbs, and cheese. Their hearty texture makes each bite more satisfying, while also adding essential nutrients like iron and folate. This twist not only appeals to vegetarians but also to anyone seeking to incorporate more legumes into their diet without sacrificing flavor or comfort.
The beauty of a lentil frittata lies in its adaptability. You can use green, brown, or even red lentils, depending on the texture you prefer. Pair them with fresh vegetables like spinach, tomatoes, bell peppers, or mushrooms, and finish with a sprinkle of your favorite cheese for a creamy, savory touch. Herbs like parsley, basil, or thyme can add brightness and elevate the dish even further.
This meal is also ideal for meal prep. Frittatas are known for being delicious served warm, at room temperature, or even chilled, which means you can bake one at the start of the week and enjoy it for several days. Slices can be packed for a quick work lunch, a healthy snack, or an easy breakfast on the go.
In addition to being practical, a lentil frittata is an elegant option for entertaining. It’s easy to make in a single skillet yet impressive enough to serve at a brunch gathering or dinner party. Pair it with a crisp salad or crusty bread, and you have a complete, balanced meal.
Whether you’re exploring plant-based cooking or simply want to bring a twist to a classic dish, a lentil frittata offers flavor, nutrition, and versatility in one beautiful, protein-packed dish.

Too complicated! Why do we need 7 steps? Just scramble the eggs and be done.
I dunno, it sounds kinda weird to put lentils in a frittata. Eggs should just be eggs, man.
Me and my kids loved it! Even my picky eater tried it and said it was ‘not bad’. 😂
Super easy recipe! I doubled the spinach and it turned out fine. Will make again.
This lentil frittata is absolutely delicious! The flavors really come together and it makes for a great breakfast option.
I don’t know what went wrong, but mine turned out very soggy. Maybe I used too much milk? Not sure I’ll try again.
I’m skeptical of anything called a frittata in the oven—aren’t they usually like… more delicate? But this was surprisingly good and sliceable.
The bake time is on point, but I think 5 min on the stove wasn’t enough for my skillet. I gave it 8 minutes and it set better.
Hmm… i think i overbaked. Still eatable tho.
I don’t get it—why milk instead of just eggs? It came out kinda rubbery for me. Maybe I overbaked.
Wow good
Agreed—this is such a solid idea. Lentils + spinach makes it filling, and the bake time seems pretty forgiving.
Huh, I thought a frittata needed cheese but this looks good. Do you drain canned lentils? I might’ve mixed up 375°F with 350°F lol.
Great recipe! I used leftover veggies and it worked out great. Will make again.
This frittata is amazing! I made it for breakfast and everyone loved it. Will definitely make again!
Can I use black beans instead of lentils? I don’t have any lentils. Also, what if I skip the onion?
Why would you put lentils in eggs? Sounds funky.
Super easy to make! Perfect for my busy mornings. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! It’s really a lifesaver for busy days. 😊
This frittata is sooo good! I added some cheese and it was fantastic! 😍
I love that you added cheese! It must have made it even creamier! I should try that next time. 😊
Cheese? That sounds kinda gross to me. Frittata with cheese? 🤔 I’m not convinced that’s a good idea.
Made this for breakfast and it came out super hearty. I used canned lentils and they worked great—just drained them well. Spinach made it feel fancy without much effort.
I tried it but mine didn’t get “golden” at all, more like pale and kinda wet in the middle. I baked it the full 25 mins at 375 tho. Maybe my oven runs cold? Still tasty, just not pretty.
Yes! I made it this morning too—so filling. I used canned lentils as well and agree, draining them really helps. The spinach + peppers make it feel like “brunch” somehow 😄
I tried it but it was kinda yucky. Just stick with normal frittatas.
Honestly, this is better than I expected for a veggie frittata. Quick, filling, and good reheated too.
This turned out super hearty and the lentils really make it filling. I used frozen spinach and it still baked beautifully.
So easy and healthy! I added some cheese on top and it was really tasty! 😍
I subbed feta for the milk and it was 🔥. Also used frozen spinach, squeezed it dry first. 10/10 brunch idea.
I was skeptical about lentils in a frittata, but it turned out decent!
Um, lentils in eggs? Not convinced. Thought it’d be gross, but it was okay. 3 stars for effort.
I was skeptical too, but lentils in eggs is actually pretty tasty! Surprised me too! 😄
Made this for breakfast. Very filling and healthy, but I used frozen spinach and it turned out watery.
Looks good! Can’t wait to try it.
Yum! 🤤 My kids loved it so much, we’re gonna make it every week! Perfect for breakfast.
That’s awesome to hear! Kids love anything they can help make. Do you think they would enjoy adding different veggies next time? 🥕
This was surprisingly good! I didn’t think lentils would work in a frittata but wow, I’m impressed!
I know, right? I was skeptical too, but it’s so tasty! Lentils in frittatas are a game changer! ✨
Really? Lentils in a frittata? Sounds odd, but maybe I’ll give it a try. 😕
Lentils in a frittata? Sounds weird to me. I think I’ll stick to my usual recipes.
Lentils in frittata? Who came up with this? Not a fan, sorry.
Not bad, but I wouldn’t make it for guests. It’s very… umm… unique.
wtf! This recipe is soooo good!!
Right? I can’t believe how simple it is to make too! 🤤
I dont know man, lentils in eggs sounds kinda weird. Are you sure it’s good? 🤔
Super easy and healthy! 👌
Meh.
“Meh” but in a good way? 😂 I added garlic and a pinch of smoked paprika and it tasted way better. Also I used feta and it baked up nice.
Honestly, same. It’s not bad, just kinda plain—might need more seasoning or cheese. Still, the lentils + spinach combo is solid.
Nice and easy recipe. I used almond milk, tasted fine to me. 😊
Almond milk? Really? Isn’t it supposed to be dairy? 🤔
That sounds really good! I might try it with coconut milk next time for a different flavor. 😊
Ew. Who puts lentils in breakfast? Yuck! No thanks.
Pretty good! My kids liked it. I chopped some tomatoes and threw ’em in too! 😋
I was really skeptical about lentils in a frittata. But wow, it’s surprisingly good! Will definitely make again.
Just wow! I love it! My kids ate it without fussing, and that’s a win in my book!
