Mushroom pasta is a rich and comforting dish that brings together earthy mushrooms, creamy sauce, and al dente pasta for a perfect meal. This dish is ideal for mushroom lovers and anyone craving a hearty yet simple dinner. The mushrooms provide a deep umami flavor, while the creamy sauce adds richness, making every bite irresistible.
To prepare this mushroom pasta, start by sautĂ©ing your choice of fresh mushrooms in olive oil or butter until theyâre golden and tender. You can use a variety of mushrooms such as cremini, shiitake, or button mushrooms to bring different textures and flavors. Once the mushrooms are cooked, add garlic, fresh thyme, or rosemary for extra fragrance and depth. Then, stir in cream or a combination of cream and Parmesan cheese to create a luscious sauce that clings to the pasta.
While the sauce is simmering, cook your pasta of choice, such as fettuccine, spaghetti, or penne, until itâs al dente. Once the pasta is ready, toss it in the creamy mushroom sauce, ensuring itâs evenly coated. For a finishing touch, garnish with grated Parmesan and fresh herbs like parsley or basil for added flavor and color.
This dish can be customized by adding protein, such as grilled chicken or shrimp, for a heartier meal. It can also be made vegetarian-friendly by using plant-based cream and cheese substitutes. Mushroom pasta is perfect for weeknight dinners or when you want to impress guests with a simple yet elegant dish. Itâs quick, filling, and full of comforting flavors that everyone will love.

Mmm! So creamy and delicious! I added some crushed red pepper for a kick!
Why would you ruin a nice cream sauce with pepper??? That’s just wrong.
That sounds amazing! I love adding a little heat to my dishes! Can’t wait to try this recipe.
The garlic step is keyâmine got a little too browned because I multitasked, but it still tasted good. Not mad.
Made this tonightâso creamy and comforting. The mushrooms really carried the flavor once they browned. I added a pinch of nutmeg too and it was perfect. 10/10 for weeknights.
I tried it with dried parsley bc I didnât have freshâdidnât look as good but tasted okay. Next time Iâll get fresh parsley for presentation.
Yum! The creaminess is superb, but I think I added too much garlic. The basic steps are easy to follow. Will definitely try again!
This is my kind of recipe. Simple ingredients, big payoff. The parmesan + cream combo is legit.
I thought 8 ounces pasta might be too little for a pound of mushrooms, but the ratio actually works. The mushrooms shrink down and the sauce clings well.
Totally agreeâmushrooms cook down a lot. I like that the cream + Parmesan clings instead of getting watery. Glad the ratio works for you!
I was skeptical too, but âtoss to coatâ really matters. Mine came out a little thick at first, then loosened up after the pasta hit the sauce. Delicious.
Wasn’t my cup of tea. Maybe next time try adding bacon for more flavor. Just saying!
Pretty good, but mine felt a little bland even with salt/pepper. Maybe I didnât use enough parmesan? Still creamy and tasty, just needed something extra like a squeeze of lemon or more garlic.
Maybe try salting the pasta water too? Iâm not saying you did, but if you only season at the end, it can taste flat even with extra salt/pepper. Add lemon or a pinch of chili flakes and youâll be golden.
I totally get thatâmushrooms + cream can be a little âmehâ without a bright note. I started adding a tiny squeeze of lemon at the end and it made a big difference. Also, I usually bump the parmesan up to closer to 3/4 cup.
Not bad at all. I used half-and-half because thatâs what I had, and it was still tasty, just a little thinner. Next time Iâll stick to heavy cream for sure.
Pretty good, but I found it needed a little more salt than the recipe said. Also cooked the mushrooms a bit longer for extra color.
Yum! Simple and quick to make, I added some spinach for extra color. Will definitely make again!
Sounds delicious! Adding spinach is a great idea for color and nutrients. Can’t wait to try it myself!
Made this tonight and it was actually restaurant-level. The mushrooms got so golden, and the sauce thickened perfectly. Added a little extra parmesan and it was even better.
The directions are simple but I wish it mentioned how to keep the mushrooms from steaming instead of browning. I overcrowded the pan once.
The recipe says 5-7 mins for mushrooms; mine took closer to 10 because I crowded the pan. Once I gave them space, they turned out golden and not watery.
I tried, but my sauce separated a bit. I think I turned the heat too high when adding the cream. Still edible, just not silky. Will retry lower heat.
Mine did that once too, but I swear it was because I didnât whisk the cream in slow enough đ Try stirring constantly and maybe grate the parm super fine so it melts smoothly.
That sounds exactly like a classic âcream + heatâ issue. Glad it was still edible though! Next time, keep it on low and add the cream after the mushrooms/garlic are off the hottest part of the burner.
5 stars! I used pre-sliced mushrooms and it still came out super tasty. Also⊠parsley is totally necessary, right? Cuz I added extra and felt fancy lol.
This feels like one of those recipes thatâs simple but you can mess up easilyâluckly I didnât! Garlic + mushrooms = win. Would recommend.
Followed it pretty much exactlyâneeded a little extra Parmesan for more flavor, but otherwise great weeknight dinner. Took less time than I expected.
I tried this and it was okay⊠mushrooms tasted good but my sauce turned kinda thin. Maybe my cream was lower fat? Still, not bad for a weeknight.
Glad it worked for you! I always end up adding a bit more Parmesan tooâmakes it way more flavorful. Also love that itâs faster than expected for a creamy pasta.
This was mid. Like itâs okay, but not special. Also 8 ounces pasta for a pound of mushrooms seems a little off unless you really love mushrooms (I donât that much).
Pasta is pasta. đ€·ââïž Itâs okay I guess.
I think thereâs too much cream in this recipe. My gut hurts after eating it. Just my opinion though!
This turned out creamy and super comforting. The mushrooms browned nicely and the garlic smell was unreal. I added a pinch of chili flakes and it was perfect.
I had to tweak it a bit, used almond milk instead of cream. Came out decent. Pretty good!
Iâm not a fan of mushrooms, but my husband is. He loved this, I’ll just stick to my marinara next time.
Made this last nightâso creamy and comforting. The mushrooms got nice and browned, and the garlic didnât taste harsh at all. I added a pinch of chili flakes and it was perfect.
Made this tonightâso creamy and cozy. The mushrooms browned nicely and the garlic smell is unreal. I added a little extra pepper and it was perfect.
This was quick and easy. Perfect for a weeknight dinner. My kids scarfed it down! Will add some chicken next time.
I dunno about adding chicken. Isn’t this a pasta dish with mushrooms? But if your kids liked it, then who cares? lol.
Glad to hear your kids loved it! Adding chicken sounds like a great idea. I bet it will be even more filling!
This is delicious, but 1 pound of mushrooms feels like a lot (in a good way). I used cremini and they browned nicely.
I feel the same. I was like âdang thatâs a lotâ but it turns out it makes the sauce way better. Cremini are perfect for this.
Agreedâ1 lb mushrooms is the sweet spot. Creamy sauce + those browned bits is sooo good.
I actually burnt the garlic, lol. Don’t make my mistake!
This turned out so creamy and comforting. The mushrooms browned nicely and the garlic smell was amazing. I added a pinch of red pepper flakesâ10/10.
This is my new go-to. Itâs restaurant-y without being complicated. I did whole wheat pasta and it worked fine.
Yes! Whole wheat is totally doableâglad it worked for you. Iâve found the garlic + golden-brown mushrooms combo really makes it taste ârestaurant-y.â Next time I might try adding a pinch of nutmeg with the cream.
Pretty good, but my sauce got a little too thick and grainy (maybe I used pre-grated parmesan). Next time Iâll grate it fresh and warm the cream more gently. Still tasty though.
Ah, that sounds exactly like the pre-grated Parmesan culpritâsometimes it has anti-caking agents and it can make the sauce go grainy. Warming the cream more gently is a great call. When I do this, I also pull the pan off heat right before adding cheese and stir until smooth.
Not gonna lie, I was worried about the heavy cream + parmesan combo, but it actually worked. The texture was restaurant-y. Next time I might add red pepper flakes.
I had the same worry with the cream + parm, but totally agreeâwhen it thickens, it gets that creamy restaurant vibe. Red pepper flakes would be đ„.
I don’t understand the fuss. The flavor was kinda bland. Maybe I used the wrong mushrooms? Not what I expected.
How can you call this mushroom pasta when the amount of mushrooms is so little?! You need more mushrooms for a real flavor.
The garlic step is underratedâcooking it after the mushrooms makes it taste less sharp. Love that.
I was skeptical about 1 cup heavy cream for 1 pound mushrooms, but it worked! Next time Iâll add some sautĂ©ed onions for depth.
Kinda bland for me. I had to add way more salt and pepper than the recipe says. Garlic flavor also felt muted, maybe because my mushrooms werenât browning enough.
Hmm, I get that. If the mushrooms donât brown, the whole sauce can taste a bit flat. I usually cook them closer to 10 minutes and donât crowd the pan.
I used pre-sliced mushrooms because I was lazy (okay, tired). They released a lot of water, so I think I needed more time to get them golden. Sauce was fine thoughâjust a bit thinner than expected.
Can I use canned mushrooms? I donât have fresh ones.
I really wanted to love this dish, but it was too creamy for my taste. Might try it again with less cream next time.
The sauce thickened beautifully, but I think 3-4 minutes is a bit optimistic depending on your heat. I let mine go like 6 minutes. Still delicious.
Totally agreeâmine thickened closer to 5-6 minutes too, especially since I used a slightly lower heat. Glad it still worked out though! đ
Hmm I think 3-4 min should be enough? Maybe you over-thought it. If it doesnât thicken fast, just add more parmesan and itâll fix it. Iâve done it.
I liked the idea, but mine came out a bit too salty. Could be my parmesan brand. Maybe go lighter on the salt until after the sauce simmers.
Wow. That sauce is like a hug. Would totally make againâmaybe with broccoli or spinach mixed in.
Aww that description is perfect đ The broccoli or spinach idea is also spot onâI’d toss it in at the end so it stays bright. Thanks for the suggestion!
I used dried parsley because I didnât have freshâstill tasty, just not as fresh-looking. Flavor is solid though, especially with the parmesan.
YUM! So easy to whip up. Used rigatoni instead of spaghetti for a change and it rocked!
I followed it exactly and it still turned out kinda watery đ. Also my mushrooms released a ton of liquid, so I shouldâve cooked them longer. Still ate it, just not the best texture.
Idk about this one. The sauce was too heavy for me, couldn’t finish my plate. Maybe I’m just not a cream person.
Ehh⊠mushrooms can be hit-or-miss for me. I think I sliced mine too thick because they took longer than 7 minutes. Ended up adjusting with extra cook time.
That makes senseâmushrooms totally vary by thickness and moisture. If they needed longer than 7 minutes, you basically did the right adjustment. Mine do the same if I donât slice them thin.
Wait⊠7 minutes should be enough? I tried this once and my mushrooms were still watery after 10, so I just cranked the heat. Also maybe you used the wrong kind of mushrooms? (button vs cremini matters).
I followed it exactly and it turned out amazing. The sauce thickened just rightâmy husband went back for seconds (rare!).
Quick question: do you really need 8 oz pasta for 1 lb mushrooms? I ended up with way more sauce than pasta but still ate it all lol.
I think 8 oz pasta is a pretty standard amount for 1 lb mushrooms. If you like it saucier, your version sounds perfect đ
Eh, not my favorite. Seemed a bit bland. I think it needs more garlic or some spices!
Way too much cream. I felt like I was eating pasta soup. Also I forgot to drain the pasta (oops) and it was a messâstill, the flavors were good.
Oops on the pastaâbeen there. But honestly if the flavors were good, thatâs what matters. For fixes: drain well, and if itâs still loose, add a bit more parm or cook the sauce uncovered to reduce.
Ahh I totally get that âpasta soupâ feeling đ The cream is the main body of the sauceânext time try cutting it down to 3/4 cup or even 1/2 cup, or simmer a bit longer to thicken.
Not gonna lie, I burnt the garlic for like 20 seconds đ but I saved it by starting fresh. Flavor was still good.
I donât usually cook but this was pretty simple and tastes good. Will try again!
Boring. Like, it tastes like âpasta with stuff.â No offense, but I wanted more flavorâmaybe add thyme or a pinch of nutmeg next time.
Not bad, but I think it needs something acidic? Like lemon juice or a tiny splash of white wine to cut the richness.
The instructions are clear, but I wish it said when to salt the mushrooms. I ended up salting them and the final dish tasted way more balanced.
Not sure about 3-4 minutes for thickeningâmine barely changed and I ended up simmering longer. Once it finally came together it was good, but that part felt off. Would recommend stirring constantly.
Pretty good, but 5-7 minutes wasnât enough for my mushrooms. I had to keep cooking until the liquid cooked off. Once I did that, the sauce thickened nicely.
This is the BEST pasta recipe I’ve ever tried! So creamy and delicious, my kids loved it too! đ
Too much cream in my opinion. I like mushrooms, but it got kind of heavy. Maybe half-and-half would be better.
I donât understand why people love mushroom pasta so much. I made it and it tasted like watery sadness. Maybe my oven broke or something? Anyway, wouldnât repeat.
Cream + parm = basic, sorry. Like⊠itâs fine, but mushrooms deserve better than just dairy, lol.
This dish is proof that love can be made in the kitchen. â€ïž
Absolutely! Cooking is definitely a form of love. Canât wait to try this recipe! â€ïžâš
Mushroom pasta? Cold and slimy. Never again. I think I prefer my pasta with tomato sauce or chicken… just saying.
Made this tonightâso creamy and flavorful! The mushrooms browned up nicely, and the garlic smell was amazing. I added a pinch of nutmeg too and it was perfect. Will make again.
Made this tonightâso creamy and comforting. The mushrooms went perfectly golden and the garlic flavor really popped. I added a pinch of chili flakes and it was chefâs kiss.
Yum! I love how the mushrooms get that golden colorâmakes all the difference. I bet the chili flakes add a great little kick.
Not gonna lie, I thought itâd be bland. The mushrooms carried it though. Also garlic in step 2 was clutch.
Made this tonight and it was honestly so comforting. The mushroom-garlic combo smells amazing, and the sauce clings to the pasta perfectly.
I tried it but mine didnât really thickenâmaybe I needed to cook it longer? Still tasted good though. Next time Iâm gonna reduce the sauce more before tossing the pasta.
Yes!! Comfort food perfection. That mushroom-garlic smell is seriously unreal, and I love how the cream/Parmesan turns silky enough to cling to the pasta.
This pasta recipe is a lifesaver! I made it for my family and they loved it. The mushrooms were so flavorful!
This came out so creamy and cozy. I used cremini mushrooms and it browned beautifully. Parmesan really brings it togetherâwill definitely make again!
This is comfort food. My picky eater even went back for seconds. I used less garlic because Iâm cautious, but the mushroom flavor carried the dish. Great weeknight meal.
Isn’t pasta just noodles? Where’s the beef? This is not real food! Sorry, not for me.
I get where you’re coming from, but pasta is a dish in itself! The mushrooms add flavor and texture. Give it a try! đ
Noodles are made from different stuff and pasta is Italy’s thing! But this recipe lacks meat, true. Still sounds tasty tho!
This recipe is legit restaurant vibes. I added a little black pepper and it tasted way more ‘grown-up.’
Yesssâblack pepper is the cheat code đ I do the same. This really *does* feel restaurant-y.
I tried it but mine was kinda bland⊠I used less garlic because I thought itâd be too strong. Maybe thatâs why? Still good though.
5 stars!!! I added some spinach too and it was amazing. Best pasta I’ve made!
This was good but I added some spinach for extra nutrition. Also, could use some more garlic in my opinion!
Simple and tasty. I used pre-sliced mushrooms and it still worked. Salt and pepper really matter hereâdonât be shy.
Honestly, I thought it would be bland with just salt/pepper, but the Parmesan flavor really pops. Great weeknight meal.
Pasta + mushrooms = YUM! I always add some spinach too, it gives it a nice color.
I totally agree! Spinach adds awesome flavor and color. Can’t wait to try it like this!
I followed it exactly but mine tasted a little bland until I salted more. Also, my cream sauce got thicker than expected after 3-4 minutesâmaybe my heat was too high? Still tasty, just needs tuning.
Idk about the parmesan amountâmine tasted a little salty. Iâll reduce the cheese next time and season at the end more carefully.
Yeah, parmesan can vary a lot by brandâmine gets salty fast too. I usually add it a little at a time and then taste before seasoning.
I followed the recipe but it turned out too salty for my taste. Be careful with the salt!
Absolutely delicious! This pasta was a hit with my family. I added a little spinach because I had some lying around, and it turned out great! Will make again!
Glad to hear that! Spinach is a great add-on. Iâll try it next time.
I dunno, I think mushrooms and cream is kinda weird combo? Not my fav.
I love mushroom pasta, but 1 pound mushrooms seems like a lot and I got watery results at first. Once they browned, it fixed itself.
I think heavy cream is kinda overkill. Like why not milk? Itâs still good though, I just felt guilty eating all that fat đ
Five stars. No notes. I doubled the mushrooms and it was perfect. My picky roommate even ate seconds!
Love to hear that! Doubling the mushrooms sounds exactly right for maximum flavor. đ
Not sure about 1 pound mushroomsâseems like a lotâbut I followed it and honestly it was great. Only tweak: I used half-and-half because Iâm watching calories, and it still worked.
I followed the recipe exactly but it came out too salty. Maybe the parmesan was too strong? Not sure if I’ll make it again.
I had the same issue with the saltiness! Maybe try cutting back on the Parmesan next time? It can be really salty sometimes.
Simplicity at its best! Love the combo of garlic and cream, never fails. Bravo!
Iâm not usually a âcream sauceâ person but wow. Easy to follow and the garlic flavor comes through without tasting harsh.
Iâm shocked itâs âeasyâ and tastes that good. I added a pinch of thyme and it made it even better. Next time Iâll use a bit less cream thoughâjust personal taste.
Yes!! The garlic really comes through hereâno harsh bite. I like that itâs not complicated either; 10/10 comfort food.
5 stars! Super easy for a weeknight and tastes like restaurant food. My picky eater even went back for seconds.
Not bad at all. Iâm not usually a fan of heavy cream, but it balances the mushrooms well. Next time Iâll throw in some black pepper and maybe chili flakes.
Totally agreeâmushrooms + a little cream is the perfect balance. I always add black pepper too (and a pinch of chili flakes). This looks like itâll be my go-to version.
Not gonna lie, 8 ounces pasta for a pound of mushrooms is a lot of mushrooms (which is fine), but I wish the sauce was thicker. I simmered longer and it got better.
Pretty good! I used pre-sliced mushrooms and it still worked. Only thing is my sauce got a little too thick, so next time Iâll add a splash of pasta water.
Meh. It tasted creamy and okay but not super flavorful. Could use more seasoningâmaybe less cream next time? Or add thyme.
Looks easy but I ain’t a cook. Can someone tell me if I can use canned mushrooms?
Yes, you can use canned mushrooms! They might not have the same texture as fresh ones, but they’ll work just fine in the sauce.
Canned? I dunno… fresh mushrooms are better! But if that’s all ya got, I guess it’s okay.
I tried it but the sauce broke a bit (grainy). I think I added the cream too fast or my cheese clumpedâmaybe fresh parmesan matters? Taste was still good, but texture wasnât great.
What a mess! My mushrooms burnt and then the cream separated. I guess I need more practice…
Not bad, but 1 minute of garlic feels too short for me. I swear my garlic tasted a little âraw.â Iâll sautĂ© longer next time on medium-low.
It’s ok, but I think there’s too much cream. Maybe use half?
Pretty solid comfort food. I used cremini mushrooms and it tasted rich without being too heavy. Next time I might add a pinch of chili flakes for some kick.
I followed it mostly, but my sauce stayed kinda thin. Could be my cream brand or I didnât cook it long enough on low. Flavor was still good though.
Hmm, I think you mightâve used too much cream? Also parmesan doesnât always melt right if itâs pre-shredded. I always use finely grated and it thickens way faster.
Niceâglad the flavor was still there! Thin sauce usually means it just needed a couple more minutes on low. Next time try simmering longer and keep it from boiling.
3 cloves garlic is probably fine for most people, but Iâm garlic-heavy. I used 5 and it was AMAZING. Also, parsley made it look fancy.
Garlic lovers unite đ 5 cloves really does sound like the right move for this oneâmushrooms + garlic is such a good combo. Glad it turned out amazing!
This recipe is a game changer! Made it last night and my whole family loved it. Will definitely make again!
Hate mushrooms, hate this recipe. Don’t understand why people like them.
Why not just leave the mushrooms out? Seems easy to me. You can call it pasta cream or something, right? đ€·ââïž
I totally get it! Mushrooms are so divisive. But this recipe is actually really creamy and could be good without them! You could sub in some spinach or even chicken.
Easy to follow but my sauce didnât thicken at all. I was left with soup! What did I do wrong?
Sounds like you might not have let it cook long enough after adding the cream and cheese. That part is crucial for thickening! Hope it works out next time!
Easy peasy. No complicated steps. But omg parsley as garnish is like the final bossâmakes it look fancy đ
Haha I totally agreeâparsley makes it look like you tried way harder than you did đ Totally easy peasy though!
Meh. Mushrooms + cream is always hit or miss for me. This was fine, but not something Iâd make again unless Iâm feeling lazy.
I dunno, âlazyâ or not, I love this. Creamy + parmesan is hard to mess up. Did you use fresh mushrooms? If theyâre watery, the sauce can turn a bit blah.
Totally get thatâmushrooms + cream can be hit or miss. Iâve found browning the mushrooms longer (closer to 10 min) makes a bigger difference. Glad it was at least âfine,â though!
Dude, this mushroom pasta recipe is da bomb! đ
One star because the garlic burned a little⊠maybe my pan was too hot. Other than that the recipe is okay. Might try again with lower heat.
Oof, yeah burned garlic is the worstâtotally could be pan temp. I usually add the garlic after the mushrooms are already nicely browned and keep it on low-medium so it doesnât go bitter. Glad it was otherwise okay!
Mushroom pasta??? More like mushroom explosion!! So good, my kids even ate them and they usually hate mushrooms. đ„ł
Glad your kids liked it! Mushroom pasta really is a game changer. đ
Mushrooms taste weird tho. How did they even like it? I would never feed my kids that. đ
I tried this and it tasted bland until I added extra salt. Also, 5-7 minutes for browning felt short on my stove. The garlic burned a little at the end (oops). Could be my pan though.
OMG this is a 10/10! My kids even liked it and that’s saying something!!!
I’m so glad to hear that! My kids are picky eaters too, but they loved it! Totally making this again!
A 10/10? Really? I thought it was just okay. Maybe I did something wrong… who knows.
Quick comment: âgolden brownâ is where itâs at. If you donât let the mushrooms brown, the whole sauce tastes kinda watery. Mine turned out great.
Pretty good, but I think 3-4 minutes for the sauce was a bit short. I simmered mine longer so it actually thickened more. Still delicious though.
Pretty easy weeknight meal. I used grated parmesan from the fridge and it melted fine. Would make again.
Could be just me, but my mushrooms released a ton of water and didnât brown at first. Maybe I crowded the pan. Next time Iâll use a bigger skillet.
Iâve had that happen tooâmushrooms definitely âsweatâ if the panâs too crowded. A bigger skillet and letting them cook undisturbed for a couple minutes really helps them brown.
Wow, I thought mushrooms just browned on their own đ Maybe your heat was too low? Also I usually add the garlic later, because garlic can burn if the mushrooms arenât browned first.
Somehow my sauce turned grainyâmaybe I added the cheese too fast or my cream was too hot. The flavor was there, just not the texture I wanted.
This recipe is a keeper! So creamy and delicious. My family loved it!
I always love creamy dishes! Gotta try this one too. Thanks for sharing!
It sounds good, but isn’t heavy cream kinda unhealthy? My doctor told me to stay away from it. Just saying!
Made this tonight and it was super comforting. The mushrooms got that nice golden color and the cream + parmesan sauce clung to the pasta perfectly. I added a pinch of chili flakes tooâhighly recommend.
Iâm gonna be that person: too much dairy for me. Could be amazing for others, but Iâd swap in half-and-half or something.
Made this last night and it was insanely cozy. The mushrooms really brown up nicely and the cream + parmesan makes a silky sauce. I added a pinch of chili flakesâ10/10.
I followed it exactly and it still tasted kinda bland. Couldâve been my salt though. The texture was goodâjust needed more seasoning.
Maybe itâs not your saltâcreamy sauces can need acid. Try a tiny splash of lemon juice (or even a pinch of nutmeg) when you finish. Also, did you brown the mushrooms enough? If they steam, it wonât taste rich.
Ugh, I get thatâmushroom pasta can taste flat if the seasoningâs off. I usually salt the pasta water a lot and also add more black pepper right at the end. Parmesan brand matters too; some are less salty.
Meh. Heavy cream + parmesan is always kinda rich, but this one felt boring. I think Iâll add chili flakes and maybe some thyme next time. Or just use store sauce… idk.
Made this tonightâsuper cozy. The mushroom-garlic smell while cooking was unreal. I added a little extra parm and it came out perfectly creamy.
Iâm not usually a cream sauce person, but wow. The mushrooms make it feel fancy. Would definitely make again, especially with fresh parsley.
Pretty good! I followed it mostly, but my sauce took a little longer to thicken. Still super flavorful and the parmesan helped a lot. Would make again with a bit of black pepper.
Glad it turned out! And yeah, cream sauces can take a bit longer depending on how wet the mushrooms are. Black pepper is a great callânext time Iâd add it right at the end.
Really good but mine turned out a bit too thick after sitting. Next time Iâll reserve a splash of pasta water to loosen the sauce.
Made this tonight and it turned out so creamy and cozy. The mushrooms caramelized nicely and the garlic wasnât too strong. I added a tiny splash of pasta water to loosen the sauceâperfect.
Yes! The pasta water trick is such a lifesaverâlove that you got the creaminess without it getting heavy. Mine usually does the same once the mushrooms start browning.
The garlic step felt small, like only 1 minute wonât mellow itâyet somehow it worked. Flavor was balanced. Would make again for a weeknight dinner.
Totally agreeâ1 minute for the garlic sounds too quick, but with the heat and everything it still mellows nicely. Glad itâs balanced for you!
Not gonna lie, I expected it to be more ârestaurant-y.â The sauce thickened, but it was kinda thin after tossing. Next time Iâll reduce the cream more or add extra cheese. Flavor was there though.
Love how quick this is. I used half-and-half because I didnât have heavy cream and it was still tasty. Texture wasnât as luxurious though.
Same hereâquick and cozy. Iâve subbed half-and-half before too and it definitely comes out great, just a little less âsilky.â Next time I might add a bit more parmesan to help thicken the sauce.
The sauce thickened fast for meâmaybe my cream was hotter than expected. Still delicious though, like restaurant vibes.
Really tasty but I felt the sauce was a bit thick for my liking. Next time Iâll add a splash of pasta water to loosen it.
Kinda bland for me. I needed more salt/pepper and maybe more parmesan. Also I think 3-4 minutes was too short to thickenâmine stayed runny.
This is not real pasta, is it? Like, where’s the meat? Where’s the flavor? I don’t know what y’all are talking about.
Made this tonightâso creamy and comforting. The mushrooms browned perfectly and the parmesan pulled everything together. Definitely adding parsley next time too.
Iâm not sure about the heavy cream + parmesan ratio. Mine tasted slightly flat until I used more salt and fresh cracked pepper.
That makes sense. Parmesan can be pretty âtemperingâ depending on brandâif the salt isnât there, it can taste a bit flat. I usually go a little heavier on both salt and fresh pepper, too.
The directions are straightforward, but I wish it mentioned whether to cover the mushrooms while cooking. Mine dried out a littleâstill good.
5 stars!! Mushrooms + pasta + cream = perfect. Also parsley on top is nice even if itâs just garnish.
This is okay, but 1 pound of mushrooms felt like a lot for only 8 ounces of pasta. Next time Iâll either use more pasta or less mushrooms.
The sauce thickened a bit too much for me after 3-4 minutes. Next time Iâll lower the heat and maybe add a splash of pasta water.
Not sure about the heavy cream measurement. I used 1 cup like it says but it turned out almost like soup until I cooked it longer. Still delicious though.
Interesting. 1 cup sounds right, but if your mushrooms had a lot of water, the sauce can thin out. Next time, cook them longer to drive off moisture.
Iâve had that happen tooâcream can vary a lot. I usually keep it closer to a low simmer and give it a few extra minutes before adding parmesan.
Iâm giving 4 stars because it was easy and my family ate it without complaining (rare!). Wish I had more parsley though.
This is restaurant-level easy. I used cremini mushrooms and it felt like a fancy date night dish. Parsley on top is a must.
So quick and easy! Iâm not a great cook and this still worked. Will make again for sure. 10/10
I think itâs missing somethingâmaybe lemon juice or more cheese? It tasted a little flat until I added extra pepper.
I dunno, I followed it and thought it was fine. Maybe your mushrooms were a little watery? Also I added extra pepper at the end like you and it helped, but lemon sounds risky to me.
Totally agreeâmine felt a bit flat too. A squeeze of lemon juice (or even lemon zest) really wakes up the mushrooms, and I end up adding a touch more parmesan.
I tried to âgolden brownâ the mushrooms but they released a ton of water and never really browned. Might be my pan size. Flavor still awesome.
Ugh, that sounds exactly like the âmushrooms steam instead of brownâ problem. If the pan is crowded, they dump water and wonât caramelize. I usually do them in batches and let them sit undisturbed for a couple minutes before stirring.
Maybe you had the heat too low? Also not sure if it matters, but Iâve heard wiping mushrooms helps (no soaking). If youâre using a nonstick pan, sometimes it browns slower too. Either wayâglad it still tasted good!
My mushrooms released a ton of water, so I had to cook them longer than 5-7 minutes. Still came out tastyâjust be patient.
I followed the steps but my sauce didnât thicken much. Maybe I didnât simmer long enough. Still tasted good thoughâvery savory.
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about only 3-4 minutes for the sauce, but it worked. I grated the parmesan fresh and that probably helped a lot.
I followed it pretty closely but added a pinch of nutmeg because why not. Turned out creamy and flavorfulâwould make again.
I followed it pretty closely, but I used half-and-half instead of heavy cream. Still tasty, just thinner. Next time Iâll go full cream for sure.
Pretty solid recipe. I used pre-sliced mushrooms and they released a lot of water, so I had to cook them a bit longer to get that golden brown. Sauce was still delicious thoughânext time Iâll reserve a splash of pasta water.
This is delicious but I find 1 pound mushrooms a lotâunless you really love mushrooms. Iâll probably do half next time just for balance.
I actually like it this way đ The mushrooms cook down and become super savory. But yeah, if youâre not a mushroom person, cut it.
Totally agreeâ1 lb mushrooms is a lot. Half next time sounds perfect for that creamy balance.
Super easy and fast comfort food. I did add red pepper flakes and it made it taste restaurant-level. 10/10 vibe.
Too much cream for my taste. Itâs rich, like⊠really rich. Next time Iâll cut it down or add more parmesan to balance.
Iâm not usually a fan of heavy cream sauces, but this one works. The parmesan + mushroom combo is solid. Would definitely make again for a weeknight dinner.
