Greek Zucchini Tots (Mini Fritters)

July 11, 2025

These Greek Zucchini Tots are a delicious and healthy appetizer or snack that combines zucchini with fresh herbs and cheese, providing a burst of Mediterranean flavors in every bite.

If you’re looking for a snack that’s healthy, flavorful, and seriously addictive, Greek zucchini tots might just be your new go-to. Inspired by the bright, herby flavors of the Mediterranean, these bite-sized treats are a fun and satisfying way to enjoy more vegetables without feeling like you’re eating “health food.”

At the heart of these tots is zucchini, a mild and versatile veggie that holds everything together while soaking up the flavor from herbs and cheese. Grated and lightly squeezed to remove excess moisture, zucchini provides the perfect base. From there, it’s all about the add-ins – crumbled feta cheese, chopped fresh dill or parsley, maybe a bit of oregano, and just enough breadcrumbs or almond flour to help bind it all. The result is a tender interior with golden, crispy edges that make each bite incredibly satisfying.

What makes these tots especially crave-worthy is the combination of textures and flavors. You get the saltiness from the cheese, freshness from the herbs, and just the right amount of crisp from baking or lightly pan-frying. They’re also super easy to make ahead, freeze well, and reheat beautifully, so they’re ideal for meal prep or hosting.

These zucchini tots are also wonderfully versatile. Serve them with a dollop of Greek yogurt or tzatziki for dipping, pair them with a salad for a light lunch, or tuck them into pita with some chopped veggies for a quick wrap. They make a great party appetizer too, especially for guests looking for something lighter and veggie-forward.

Greek zucchini tots are proof that wholesome food doesn’t have to be boring. They’re full of bold flavors, easy to customize, and perfect for when you want something snackable that also feels a little fancy. Whether you’re making them for yourself or a crowd, they’ll disappear fast.

I don’t know about this… Zucchini in fritters? Sounds odd but I am gonna try it.

  2. 3 stars
Lol, I just mashed everything together and fried it. Not sure that’s the right way, but it worked for me!

Disaster! 😩 They fell apart in the pan. Maybe I didn’t drain the zucchini enough.

  8. User avatar keturah.langosh1979 says:

Simple and tasty! Who knew healthy could be this good? 🥳

  9. 3 stars
I tried this recipe but my tots fell apart. Maybe I didn’t squeeze the zucchini enough? Still tasted okay tho.

I was skeptical about zucchini fritters but WOW, these are so good. Tastes like summer!

These turned out super crispy on the outside and soft inside. The feta flavor is on point—will definitely make again.

    1. User avatar ma.stracke1983 says:

      5 stars
Yes!! Crispy outside + soft inside is exactly what I was hoping for. I added a little extra pepper and they were perfect with tzatziki. Making again for sure.

    2. User avatar olivia.bernhard says:

      3 stars
I tried these but mine stayed a bit soggy—think my zucchini wasn’t drained enough. Also I only had ‘feta spread’ so it was messier. Still tasted good though, just not super crispy like yours.

  12. 3 stars
Just okay. I don’t think fritters and zucchini mix. Seems strange.

    1. User avatar keven.lowe2008 says:

      4 stars
That’s weird, my mom used to make these all the time! Fritters and zucchini are like best friends in the kitchen, lol.

Glad you liked them! The feta really does enhance the taste! I topped mine with some tzatziki, so delicious!

  14. 2 stars
Not great. They fell apart while cooking. Maybe less zucchini next time?

    1. User avatar particia.cremin says:

      4 stars
I had the same issue! I think draining the zucchini extra really helps. Maybe try that next time!

  15. User avatar kizzie.ledner1994 says:

    4 stars
I just made these last night, and they got eaten up fast! Everyone loved them!

  16. 4 stars
The texture was awesome but I think I would prefer more seasoning. Added garlic powder and it was better.

  17. User avatar francisco.okeefe39 says:

Super easy recipe! I used whole wheat flour and it was still yum.

Made these for a party and they were gone in minutes! Even my picky friends loved them. Great recipe!

  23. User avatar ria.macgyver says:

    5 stars
These were surprisingly delicious! I wasn’t sure about the feta, but it really adds flavor. Will definitely make again!

  24. 4 stars
The instructions were clear, but 3-5 minutes per side felt short for my pan. I needed closer to 6-7 minutes to get true golden brown.

  25. User avatar Draugr Deathlord says:

    4 stars
I squeezed the zucchini a lot (maybe too much) and they still held together. Nice little Greek-style snack. Next time I’ll add a pinch of oregano.

  26. User avatar randell.wisoky71 says:

    1 star
Zucchini?! No thanks, I prefer my food not green. Not gonna make this.

  27. User avatar Johnathon Kreiger I says:

Loved it!! So crispy and tasty. Perfect for summer!

    1. User avatar elanor.rosenbaum says:

  28. User avatar genaro.roberts19 says:

    4 stars
I’m skeptical about healthy recipes, but these actually do taste pretty good. Can’t believe it’s just veggies!

  29. User avatar elois.blanda40 says:

    2 stars
Tried this with spinach instead of zucchini because I was out of zucchini, kind of meh.

    1. User avatar huey.kris1973 says:

      4 stars
Spinach can be a bit different, but glad you tried it! Maybe next time zucchini will give you better results!

  30. 5 stars
These were shockingly good. The feta really makes them pop, and squeezing the zucchini well is key—mine got crispy once I actually drained it enough.

    1. User avatar lesley.turcotte says:

      3 stars
I think the instructions are missing something… I squeezed mine but they still fell apart. Maybe I needed more flour? Also 2 tbsp olive oil felt low for frying? Idk, flavor was good though.

    2. User avatar junita.carroll1993 says:

      5 stars
Honestly same—I was expecting “meh” but the feta really levels them up. I also learned the hard way that you *have* to squeeze the zucchini. Mine got crispier once I drained it longer.

  31. 3 stars
Not gonna lie, mine were a bit soggy even after draining. I think my zucchini was wetter than expected. Flavor was still decent though.

    1. User avatar Esteban Greenfelder says:

      3 stars
Maybe you didn’t drain long enough? Mine never gets soggy cuz I fry them longer til they darken. Also feta can hold moisture—try blotting the feta with paper towel? I’m serious, it changes everything.

    2. User avatar ervin.wisoky67 says:

      5 stars
Ugh, I totally get that—zucchini can be *way* wetter than expected. I usually squeeze it pretty hard and then let it sit in the towel 5-10 mins before mixing. Also, I sprinkle in a tiny extra bit of flour if the mix feels loose.

  32. User avatar china.kessler2012 says:

    3 stars
I used low-fat feta and it didn’t taste as rich. Also, the mix was kind of sticky—more flour might help.

  33. User avatar filomena.waelchi says:

    4 stars
I was skeptical about 2 tbsp flour only, but it actually worked. Next time I might add a pinch of garlic because I love everything with garlic 😄

    1. User avatar jonna.kris says:

      5 stars
Yes! The zucchini moisture is the whole trick—glad the 2 tbsp flour held up for you. Garlic sounds like an awesome upgrade 😄

  34. User avatar Thresa Krajcik says:

    4 stars
I’m not a huge fan of zucchini but these were surprisingly good. Will make them again!

  35. 4 stars
My kids called them “cheesy pancakes” 😂. Quick to make, and they disappeared fast. Next time I’ll try adding garlic.

    1. 3 stars
I tried these but mine were kinda soggy, I’m guessing I didn’t squeeze enough water outta the zucchini 😅. Do you mean drain it super dry like, like wringing it out? Also does feta make it salty?

    2. User avatar lizbeth.cole93 says:

      5 stars
Aww “cheesy pancakes” is hilarious 😂. Glad they vanished fast—sounds like the zucchini-to-feta ratio is spot on. Garlic sounds like a great upgrade!

  36. User avatar corina.ferry78 says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but 3-5 minutes per side felt long/too short depending on the heat. Also I wish the recipe mentioned salting the zucchini first because mine was kinda bland.

  37. User avatar francis.sipes2022 says:

    3 stars
Why fry in olive oil when you could bake them? I tried baking and they were… okay. Still not the same crunch, but at least less messy.

  38. 5 stars
So good, love it! Can I use different cheese? I have cheddar, will that work? Thanks!

  39. User avatar lauren.turner8 says:

    5 stars
These zucchini tots are delicious! My kids devoured them! Thanks a lot!

  40. 3 stars
Not bad. Mine stuck a little to the pan even with oil, so I probably need higher heat or more oil. Still ate them all though.

  41. User avatar evelyne.gerhold33 says:

    5 stars
I’m not usually a fan of fritters, but these were surprisingly addictive. The outside is crispy and the inside stays tender. Would totally make again.

    1. User avatar ernie.becker1992 says:

      5 stars
That’s funny—same here. I usually skip fritters too, but the zucchini + feta combo sounds like it makes them way better than expected. Gonna try squeezing the moisture extra well like you said it turns out crispy outside.

  42. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

    3 stars
Not what I expected, a bit mushy for me. Maybe I didn’t squeeze the zucchini enough… 3 stars for the effort.

    1. 4 stars
I thought they were great! The texture was nice and crunchy. Maybe try adding less zucchini next time?

    2. 3 stars
Mushy? I guess everyone has their own taste. I didn’t have any issue with mine, but maybe I used a different kind of zucchini?

  43. User avatar Roland Corkery IV says:

    2 stars
I messed up and used too much zucchini juice (didn’t squeeze enough). They fell apart in the pan. Lesson learned: wring it like you mean it.

  44. User avatar lanny.monahan says:

    1 star
Why would you put olives in this? That’s just wrong. I wouldn’t follow this recipe.

  45. 1 star
Doesn’t sound like a real recipe… I mean, zucchini in fried balls? Are we sure about this? 😅

  46. User avatar Dremora Lord says:

    5 stars
OMG these are so good! I added some garlic too. YUM!

  47. 2 stars
I dunno, my fritters fell apart when I cooked them. Maybe I added too much egg or something…?

  48. User avatar randy.towne49 says:

    3 stars
Too much cheese for my liking. I think a little less would be better.

  49. User avatar Dwarven Shpere says:

    2 stars
Eh… 3-5 minutes per side seems long? Mine browned fast and then got dark. I’d say watch like a hawk.

  50. 4 stars
I was skeptical at first. Zucchini in fritters? But WOW! They turned out great! I added some garlic too. Yum!

  51. User avatar jonathon.maggio30 says:

    5 stars
Super easy recipe. Made them for a party and everyone loved them.

  52. User avatar Frankie and Benjy says:

    4 stars
I followed it pretty much and they browned fast, but the center was a bit soft. Maybe smaller tots or lower heat? Still tasty though.

  53. User avatar Draugr Thrall says:

    5 stars
These are absolutely delicious! I love the crunch and flavor. Perfect as a snack. Will definitely make again! 🥒❤️

    1. User avatar adrianne.langosh says:

      5 stars
I tried these and they turned out amazing too! So crispy! Might add some garlic next time.

  54. User avatar antonietta.ward says:

    5 stars
The flavor is very Greek-ish. I served with tzatziki and it was a perfect snack. Great with a squeeze of lemon too.

    1. User avatar boyce.grady says:

      5 stars
Yes!! The feta + onion + parsley combo really does give that Greek vibe. I also finish mine with lemon and it totally brightens everything up.

    2. User avatar sook.buckridge79 says:

      4 stars
Hmm I didn’t think it’d be Greek-ish but I guess it makes sense with the feta. I made a batch and used more parsley… kinda salty though? Still tasty with tzatziki.

  55. User avatar luther.lowe62 says:

    3 stars
It’s a fritter, but I expected it to be more “tots” like. Texture is more pancake-y than I imagined. Would eat again though.

  56. User avatar Slartibartfast says:

    3 stars
Honestly pretty good, but mine turned a bit salty. I think feta brands vary—use less feta next time or taste it first.

    1. User avatar alton.beahan14 says:

      4 stars
Lol yeah I can see how it happens. Mine was like instant “salty tears” one time 😅 Next batch I’m gonna drain the zucchini even more and maybe use less feta or add a squeeze of lemon.

    2. 5 stars
That makes sense—feta really can be saltier depending on the brand. I usually give it a quick taste before mixing, and I start with a little less feta too.

  57. User avatar ArabianNights says:

    2 stars
Easy to make but my kids didn’t like them. They said they tasted weird. I think it needs more cheese! 🤷‍♀️

  58. User avatar valentin.keebler2 says:

    2 stars
meh. I didn’t love the texture—kind of gummy. I think the flour amount is too low? Or maybe my egg was small. Will try again but with tweaks.

  59. User avatar man.funk64 says:

    4 stars
I love zucchini, so I had high hopes. Mine turned out a little soft inside (probably not enough draining). Still tasty though!

  60. 5 stars
These came out super crispy outside and tender inside. The squeezing step for the zucchini is legit—didn’t skip it and they held together nicely.

    1. User avatar mara.cummerata89 says:

      5 stars
Yes!! The moisture squeezing is the make-or-break step. I skip it once and they fall apart immediately 😅

  61. User avatar carlena.mayer73 says:

    3 stars
Two cups zucchini is a lot. I ended up with a wetter batter than expected, so I added a bit more flour. It worked, but the written amounts felt slightly off.

  62. User avatar Jessica Atreides says:

    5 stars
Not gonna lie, I thought “tots” meant something else. But hey, these mini fritters are legit. A little peppery, very savory. 👍

  63. User avatar Brandy D. Cantor says:

    4 stars
Good flavor but mine fell apart a little—maybe I didn’t drain the zucchini enough? Next time I’ll squeeze harder and let the mix rest before frying.

  64. User avatar douglas.hodkiewicz says:

    5 stars
My family didn’t believe they were zucchini. Even my picky kid asked for seconds. Winner!

  65. User avatar vennie.halvorson says:

    5 stars
These are such a fun twist on zucchini! The feta really makes them taste Greek, and squeezing the zucchini dry is key. Mine crisped up nicely.

    1. 5 stars
Love this! I always end up with soggy zucchini stuff, so the squeezing dry tip is everything. Gonna try your feta + onion combo—sounds super Greek.

  66. User avatar lizzzard says:

    5 stars
Honestly, pretty tasty for something that’s basically vegetables in a pan. My kids ate them without complaining (shockingly).

  67. 4 stars
Okay but who measures zucchini by cups? Mine was like… a whole zucchini situation. Still tasted great, just formed differently.

  68. User avatar bettyann.sawayn90 says:

    4 stars
I used dried parsley bc I didn’t have fresh and it tasted fine, just less vibrant. Also I think I used too much feta—still good, just saltier.

  69. User avatar hyo.mclaughlin1978 says:

    5 stars
Okay, I’m skeptical of frying something that’s basically veggies + cheese. But wow… the golden outside is legit. I’d make them again for sure.

  70. 2 stars
The texture was weird for me—more like mush than tots. I didn’t squeeze as much moisture out as I thought, so that’s on me.
