Chicken Florentine is one of those timeless dishes that feels both comforting and refined. At its core, it’s a simple chicken dish elevated by a creamy spinach sauce that’s full of flavor. It’s elegant enough to serve for dinner guests but easy enough to make on a busy weeknight.
The term “Florentine” refers to dishes made in the style of Florence, Italy, and it almost always involves spinach and a rich, creamy sauce. In the case of Chicken Florentine, tender chicken breasts are typically pan-seared until golden and juicy, then simmered in a silky sauce made with garlic, cream, parmesan cheese, and plenty of fresh spinach. It’s a winning combination that’s both hearty and fresh.
What makes this dish stand out is its balance. The richness of the cream and cheese is lightened by the earthy flavor of wilted spinach and a touch of lemon juice. It’s not heavy or overwhelming, it’s the kind of meal that feels indulgent without leaving you weighed down.
Chicken Florentine is also incredibly versatile. You can serve it over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes to soak up all that luxurious sauce, or keep it low-carb with a side of roasted veggies or cauliflower mash. You can even adapt it with different proteins like shrimp or salmon, though the classic chicken version remains a favorite.
It’s the kind of dish that comes together in one pan, making cleanup simple and the process less intimidating. Yet the result feels like something you’d order in a cozy Italian restaurant -warm, comforting, and deeply satisfying.
Whether you’re cooking to impress or just need a reliable dinner idea, Chicken Florentine delivers. It proves that a few good ingredients, when brought together with care, can turn a simple piece of chicken into something truly special.

Followed the recipe but it didn’t taste like I expected. More like a strange chicken soup. Not doing this again.
This recipe is amazing! The chicken came out so juicy and the sauce was to die for. Will definitely make this again!
I dunno if this is authentic or not but it was good. I mixed it with noodles because I thought that was what you were supposed to do.
Chicken Floren-whatsit? I just made it for dinner n the kids actually ate it all! Shocked! 😂
Too much garlic for my taste, yuck. I wish you could do a less garlic version. The chicken was alright tho.
I can understand that! Garlic can be overwhelming sometimes. Maybe try cutting it down next time? Glad you liked the chicken though!
I tried this but the cream made it too heavy. Next time, I’ll use less cream and maybe add mushrooms? Just a thought!
I don’t know, mine didn’t turn out right. The sauce was too thick and I think I added too much cheese. 🙁
This recipe is amazing! The chicken was so tender and the sauce is divine.
This dish was fantastic! Loved the creamy sauce and the spinach added a nice touch. Will definitely make again!
Why do you put cream in a chicken recipe? Sounds unhealthy!
Deliciousness! 👌 I totally love spinach and chicken together!!
Isn’t Florentine supposed to have cheese? This recipe is lacking in flavor! Disappointed.
Cheese or no cheese, I liked it! You just gotta season it more, I think.
I think it has cheese! The recipe says Parmesan. Maybe you missed it?
So good! I made it for my family and everyone loved it, even the kids!
Did you really get kids to eat spinach? I have my doubts. Maybe it’s not that great? 🤔
That’s awesome to hear! It’s always great when a recipe pleases the whole family, especially the kiddos! 😊
I ain’t never made no chicken like this before, but it was easy and tasted great!
I’m so glad you liked it! Chicken Florentine is one of my favorites too! 😍
Tasted great? Really? I thought it was a bit too creamy for my taste. 🤔
Too much cheese for my taste, I might use less next time.
Less cheese? But cheese is the best part! Why would you do that?
I totally get that! Cheese can be a bit too much sometimes. I’m thinking of tryin it with feta for a change.
This was a hit at the dinner party! Everybody loved it!
I’m glad to hear that! It’s one of my favorites too! Did you serve it with pasta or rice?
Everyone loved it? That’s surprising, I thought it would be too creamy! Did you tweak the recipe or something?
It turned out kinda bland. I think it needs more spices or something.
Quick, easy, and delicious! Will make again! 🙂
I love how simple this is! I’m definitely trying it this weekend! 🙂
Seems too easy… can it really taste that good? What if the chicken dries out?
Really easy recipe! I added some sun-dried tomatoes for extra flavor. Will make again!
This is the best Chicken Florentine I’ve ever made! The creaminess is just perfect. 5 stars!
Just okay. I felt like it was missing something… maybe herbs? Who knows.
Wow! Best chicken recipe I’ve ever made! So easy and delicious.
Delicious recipe but I used frozen spinach and it turned out fine! Who cares, right?
It was ok. I’ve had better chicken dishes at restaurants. Too much cream maybe.
I think it’s just the taste, some people love cream, others not so much. But at home you can modify, right? Maybe less cream next time?
Won’t make this again, it was way too rich for my taste. And hard to make!
I love chicken and spinach! This was a nice combo but I added some tomatoes for extra flavor. Yum!
Chicken florentine? I thought it was just a fancy name! What’s Florentine anyway?
I tried it but the chicken was a bit dry, maybe I cooked it too long? Not sure if I’ll make again.
I think it might’ve been the cooking time for sure. Try reducing it next time! It really helps keep the chicken juicy.
Dry chicken? I dunno, mine turned out perfectly. Maybe different heat settings?
