This Creamy Ranch Cucumber Salad is one of those dishes that feels familiar yet refreshing, combining cool, crisp cucumbers with a smooth, tangy dressing that brings everything together. It’s the perfect balance of crunchy texture and creamy flavor, a salad that works as a side dish for nearly any meal or even as a light lunch on its own.

At the heart of this salad is the irresistible pairing of fresh cucumbers and ranch dressing. The dressing is smooth, creamy, and filled with the classic herbs and spices that give ranch its distinctive flavor – garlic, dill, and chives. When tossed with thinly sliced cucumbers, it creates a combination that’s both cooling and full of flavor, making it ideal for warmer days or when you need a quick, satisfying side.

Adding a bit of red onion gives a subtle bite that contrasts beautifully with the creaminess of the dressing. Some versions include sour cream or Greek yogurt for extra tang, or a sprinkle of fresh dill to brighten everything up. The ingredients stay crisp and flavorful, especially when chilled, turning this salad into a go-to option for barbecues, potlucks, or easy weeknight dinners.

What makes this salad stand out is its versatility. It pairs beautifully with grilled chicken, steak, or seafood and complements hearty main dishes just as easily as it lightens up heavier meals. I’m skeptical of sour cream + ranch dressing together… but honestly it worked. The cucumbers stayed crisp-ish even after chilling. Pretty easy too.

  11. User avatar Bilbo Baggins says:

    4 stars
I used dried dill because I didn’t have fresh. It was still good, but I feel like fresh would be way brighter. Still worth it for a quick side.

    5 stars
Wow so yummy 😋—I served it with burgers and everybody asked for the recipe.

Why do people put dressing with salad?? Just eat the cucumber, it’s good raw.

  15. 2 stars
I don’t know… It was kinda bland for me. Maybe too much sour cream?

  16. 5 stars
This was so good! My whole family loved it. Will make again for sure!

  17. User avatar hugh.reilly says:

    4 stars

1/4 cup of ranch dressing? That’s too much! I used less and it was fine.

  24. 5 stars
Ranch cucumber salad is my weakness. This one’s fast and tastes like restaurant sides. Will 100% repeat. Delicious!

The dill and lemon juice are a nice touch! Reminds me of my grandma’s recipe. 🥰

I don’t get the hype—ranch with cucumbers is fine, but it’s not mind-blowing. Kinda like a cold side salad.

      5 stars
I love this salad! It’s so easy to make and really refreshing. Perfect for hot days!

    2. 3 stars
Sounds good, but isn’t ranch dressing kinda unhealthy? I prefer lighter dressings.

  29. User avatar Gandalf the Grey says:

    2 stars
Not gonna lie, ranch + sour cream + cucumber is kinda weird to me. The tang is strong, but I guess it grows on you.

  30. User avatar Grunthos the Flatulent says:

    2 stars
too much sour cream, i think i prefer straight ranch. also where’s the garlic???

  31. User avatar angelique.cremin says:

    4 stars
So simple, I was surprised it tasted so good. Love it!

  32. User avatar efren.hessel says:

    3 stars
Not bad at all. I’m just not sure about the ratio—maybe next time I’ll use a little less ranch dressing so it’s tangier and less heavy.

  33. User avatar domonique.hartmann79 says:

    5 stars
This is the best salad ever! So creamy and fresh. My family loved it.

  34. User avatar quentin.satterfield71 says:

    4 stars
Super easy! I skipped the dill tho, didn’t have any. Still turned out delish!

    1. User avatar bonnie.lesch says:

      2 stars
I don’t know how you skipped dill. It’s kinda essential for ranch flavors. Not sure it would taste the same.

    2. User avatar melda.beahan13 says:

      4 stars
Glad it turned out great! Dill is just a bonus anyway! More cucumbers please!

  35. User avatar Falmer Shadowmaster says:

    2 stars
I don’t get why people rave about this. It’s just cucumbers and dressing… boring!

  36. User avatar archie.swift says:

    5 stars
So refreshing! I added a little extra dill and it tasted like summer. The creamy ranch coating clung perfectly to the cucumber.

  37. User avatar danilo.batz86 says:

    3 stars
I tried it, but the dressing was too strong for my taste. Less ranch next time?

    1. User avatar isaiah.bartell88 says:

      4 stars
I completely understand! Maybe just a tablespoon of ranch would do it. Love the idea of experimenting! 🍴

    2. 3 stars
The dressing was good, but I guess not everyone likes it strong. Just mix in some more cucumbers if it’s too much next time!

  38. 4 stars
Y’all ever try it with crunch? Got some croutons in mine and it’s way better! 🙂

  39. User avatar katrina.schneider62 says:

    3 stars
Wait, 10 minutes in the fridge only? Mine needs like an hour to get that flavor mixed in, but it’s still a nice quick salad.

  40. User avatar ranae.daniel1980 says:

    4 stars
Honestly, I did not like ranch dressing so I skipped it, but it was still good with just the sour cream! I added some garlic instead. 🤷‍♂️

  41. User avatar Gag Halfrunt says:

    3 stars
I’m skeptical about the ranch + sour cream thing, but I tried it anyway. It’s not bad, kinda addictive, but I think the dill amount is strong if you don’t love dill.

  42. User avatar stephen.kemmer40 says:

    5 stars
Love this! Used Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a healthier twist.

  43. 5 stars

I’m glad you enjoyed it! It’s such a great side dish. Perfect for picnics too!

  44. User avatar Storm Atronach says:

    1. 5 stars
Absolutely! The lemon juice adds a nice tang. This salad is a hit at parties!

  49. User avatar alan.yost2005 says:

    2 stars
So many calories in sour cream! Is there a healthy option for this? 1/2 cup seems like a lot.

    1. User avatar antoine.hessel says:

      5 stars
You can definitely use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream! It’s healthier and still creamy. 😊

  50. User avatar mathWizard says:

    2 stars
Too much ranch for my taste. I prefer a lighter dressing.

  51. 5 stars
This is super refreshing—my cucumbers stayed crisp even after a little longer in the fridge. Ranch + lemon is such a good combo. Definitely making again for summer lunches.

    1. User avatar Clay Kuvalis says:

      5 stars
Yes! The lemon really brightens it up and keeps everything tasting clean. I’ve been tossing mine with a little extra dill and it turns out great—perfect for summer lunches.

  52. 3 stars
I dunno, it seemed kinda bland to me. Maybe more spices next time?

  53. 5 stars
This salad is super refreshing! Perfect for summer barbecues. Everyone loved it!

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree! This salad is a hit at my cookouts too! 🍽️

  54. User avatar criselda.kshlerin43 says:

    3 stars
Cucumbers = good. salad is okay. But wheres the bacon? Bacon makes everything better.

  55. User avatar elvis.murray says:

    5 stars
So refreshing and creamy without being heavy. The lemon really brightens it—perfect with dinner.

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree—it’s like cool, creamy, and still light. The lemon is such a nice touch. I’m making this again for sure!

    2. 3 stars
I tried it but mine didn’t taste very “ranch-y” somehow. Maybe I used too much lemon? Still good though—just needs a little tweaking.

  56. User avatar Jessica Atreides says:

    2 stars
This didn’t taste how I thought it would. Too much lemon, I guess.

    1. User avatar suspiciousCommentator says:

      4 stars
I thought it was great! Maybe try less lemon next time? Everyone’s taste is different.

    2. User avatar Ryan Shenlong says:

      2 stars
Lemon? I didn’t use any lemon! 🤔 Sounds weird.

  57. 3 stars
Pretty tasty, but mine got watery after sitting. Next time I’ll pat the cucumbers dry first to avoid the soggy situation.

  58. User avatar laurence.stanton59 says:

    2 stars
Meh. 10 minutes is not enough chill time for me. Also I forgot to peel one cucumber and it was… fine? Kinda weird.

    1. User avatar elwood.kuphal says:

      4 stars
Totally get it—10 minutes feels more like “quick cool” than actual chill. I usually give it closer to 30 so the cucumbers soak up that ranch/lemon vibe. Also… unpeeled cucumber is fine sometimes, just more crunch/texture. Your “kinda weird” makes sense though.

    2. User avatar eldon.grady14 says:

      3 stars
Yeah 10 min is kinda short. I’d do at least 20, otherwise the sauce tastes a little flat. And if you forgot to peel, that’s not a crisis—mine always come out tasty, just greener and more bite. Maybe next time toss and let it sit while you prep dinner.

  59. 5 stars
This salad is a hit at my BBQ! Everyone loved it!

  60. User avatar wilhemina.mertz says:

    2 stars
Too much sour cream taste, not my thing. I’ll stick to just cucumbers.

    1. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

      4 stars
I totally get you! I love cucumbers plain too, they’re so refreshing. Sour cream can be overpowering sometimes.

  61. User avatar andre.robel says:

    4 stars
Cucumbers? Like the green things? Sounds weird. But I tried it n my kids ate it, lol.

  62. 4 stars
I used Greek yogurt instead of sour cream and it turned out great! A healthier twist!

  63. User avatar andrew.jerde says:

    3 stars
Pretty good overall, but mine turned a little watery. I think I sliced the cucumbers too thick or didn’t drain them first—next time I’ll salt them briefly.

  64. User avatar Ms. Elke Metz says:

    4 stars
Made it for lunch and it was gone fast. The cucumbers stayed crunchy after chilling for about 20 minutes, which I was worried about.

  65. 3 stars
Not bad. Kinda bland unless you really season it. I think 1/4 tsp salt is not enough for my taste, so I added more pepper too. Still worth it.

  66. 5 stars
This is such a refreshing side! The lemon juice really brightens the sour cream/ranch combo, and the dill makes it taste fresh instead of “store-bought salad-ish.” I chilled mine a bit longer than 10 minutes and it got even better.

    1. User avatar morris.goyette26 says:

      5 stars
Yes!! I did the same thing—waiting longer makes the dill really pop. So good with grilled stuff.

  67. User avatar Nicol Bernhard says:

    5 stars
It aint rocket science, just mix it! I made it in 5 minutes. Yum!

    1. User avatar melaine.herman1959 says:

      5 stars
Yeah, it’s super easy! I love that you can whip it up in no time. Cucumber salads are the best!

    2. User avatar kattie.wilkinson30 says:

      3 stars
I don’t know, ranch dressing sounds kinda weird with cucumbers. I might stick with just a vinaigrette or something…

  68. User avatar natalia.huel14 says:

    4 stars
The lemon juice really brightens it. I might even add garlic next time, because I can’t help myself.

  69. User avatar jean.wiegand says:

    4 stars
I think 10 minutes is enough, but I ended up waiting like an hour and it got even better. The cucumbers really soaked up the ranch mixture.

    1. 5 stars
Honestly same—10 mins sounds right on paper, but I’ve found it needs longer for the cucumbers to really mellow and soak up that ranch flavor. Glad it turned out better for you!

  70. User avatar mitchell.wehner85 says:

    3 stars
I dunno, I think the ranch dressing is too much. Maybe just sour cream? 🤔

  71. User avatar Quint S. Henschel says:

    3 stars
I dunno, it sounds kinda bland. Can I add more spices?

  72. 2 stars
I followed it exactly and it turned out bland. Maybe my ranch dressing wasn’t flavorful enough. Any tips on what ranch to use?

  73. User avatar geoWizard says:

    1 star
Cucumbers are gross. Not doing this again. 😒

    1. 4 stars
I get it, some people don’t like cucumbers. But this recipe is delish! You might change your mind if you give it a try with fresh ones.

    2. User avatar Cassiopeia says:

      5 stars
I actually love cucumbers! This salad sounds refreshing. Maybe you just had a bad one? 🤷‍♀️

  74. User avatar juliana.ernser53 says:

    5 stars
This salad is a game changer! So refreshing and creamy, I loved it!

  75. 2 stars
Not sure about the ranch + sour cream combo. It’s okay, but I expected more “ranch” flavor and less sour. Might need extra seasoning for me.

  76. User avatar emeline.bradtke says:

    5 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical because it’s so simple. But the lemon juice makes it feel lighter and the sour cream texture is perfect.

    1. User avatar Fairy Queen says:

      5 stars
That’s exactly what I felt too—looks too easy, but the lemon juice really wakes everything up. I also let it sit longer than 10 min and it gets even better.

  77. User avatar tyler.kub9 says:

    4 stars
Easy and quick, and the creamy ranch coating is exactly what I wanted. I did 20 minutes in the fridge instead of 10.

    1. User avatar Pasta Fasta says:

      5 stars
Nice! I usually do a bit longer too—20 minutes makes it even thicker and more flavorful. Thanks for sharing!

  78. User avatar Laronda Miller says:

    3 stars
Is dill even necessary? I didn’t have any and didn’t miss it.

  79. 4 stars
Pretty good, but mine came out a little too tangy. Next time I’ll cut back on the lemon juice or add a bit more cucumber so the sauce balances out better.

    1. User avatar ginger.wolf24 says:

      5 stars
That makes sense—lemon juice can really punch up the tanginess. I’ve found starting with 1/2 the lemon and tasting after mixing helps a lot. Adding more cucumber also works to mellow it out.

    2. User avatar roseline.boyle1952 says:

      3 stars
Huh, mine was never tangy? Maybe my lemon was weaker, idk. Next time try adding more ranch dressing too—like an extra splash—because sour cream alone might not “balance” it. Or you could just cut the lemon in half.

  80. User avatar davina.halvorson69 says:

    4 stars
Easy peasy and honestly way better than I expected. I used bottled lemon juice in a pinch and it was still good—will do fresh next time.

  81. User avatar Falmer Warmonger says:

    5 stars
This was super refreshing—like a ranch-y cool side that actually feels light. I used dried dill because that’s what I had and it was still great. Would definitely make again for summer dinners!

  82. User avatar shenita.raynor90 says:

    5 stars
Will try this at my picnic this weekend! Hope my friends like it as much as I do. 🙂

    1. 5 stars
This salad sounds delish! I’m sure your friends will love it. Enjoy your picnic!

  83. User avatar darcy.schaden says:

    5 stars
Really good! I added a tiny bit more pepper and it tasted restaurant-level. Will make again for potlucks.

    1. User avatar Sha Warvo says:

      5 stars
Love hearing that! The extra pepper is totally the move—especially with the lemon. Thanks for the potluck idea too!

  84. User avatar malik.prosacco67 says:

    3 stars
I followed it exactly, including 10 minutes in the fridge, and it was fine, not life-changing. Still a nice side though.

    1. User avatar theo.mcclure says:

      3 stars
I tried it but I think I over-salted? Like, the cucumbers let out water and then it tasted kinda strong. Next time I’ll do less salt and pepper. Still edible though 😅

    2. 4 stars
Totally agree—mine came out good too. Not some miracle recipe, but super refreshing with dinner. The ranch + dill combo is the winner.

  85. 3 stars
Pretty good, but mine came out a bit watery—probably because I didn’t squeeze the cucumber slices. Still tasty though, and I liked the creamy coating.

  86. User avatar elma.beatty says:

    2 stars
Wait, 2 large cucumbers and only 1/4 cup ranch?? Mine barely coated. I’ll double the dressing next time.

  87. User avatar debi.koss13 says:

    5 stars
I just made this and my husband said it tastes like heaven! So creamy and refreshing.

    1. User avatar conception.mayer97 says:

      5 stars
That sounds delicious! I can’t wait to try it myself. Love creamy salads!

    2. User avatar Majin Vegeta says:

      2 stars
Heaven? Really? I dunno, I just see cucumbers and sour cream. Maybe it’s more like a garden than heaven.

  88. User avatar justbob says:

    5 stars
Loved it! I served it with burgers and everyone asked for the recipe. I’m weirdly proud of myself lol.

    1. User avatar Ethel L. Cahall says:

      5 stars
That’s awesome 😄 burgers + this salad sounds like the perfect combo! And honestly—having everyone ask for the recipe is the best kind of proud.

  89. User avatar beau.conroy13 says:

    4 stars
I used dried dill since I didn’t have fresh and it still worked, though it felt a touch less vibrant. Next time I’ll do fresh.

    1. User avatar Ilban Richese says:

      5 stars
Yes! Dried dill can totally work in a pinch—fresh just hits harder. Next time try using a bit less dried (it’s usually stronger) or bump it slightly for that “vibrant” vibe. Looks delicious either way.

  90. User avatar meta.huels says:

    4 stars
Honestly 10 minutes feels too short for me. I let it sit about an hour and the cucumbers really soaked it up.

  91. User avatar Hotblack Desiato says:

    4 stars
Simple and actually tastes like a real side dish, not just “cucumber with stuff.” The lemon helps a lot. Will make again.

Yes! The lemon is the missing piece—makes it taste brighter, not like straight ranch. I’ll try with fresh dill too (mine was dried last time).

I used dried dill because that’s what I had and it still tasted good. Next time I’ll squeeze a bit more lemon.

Simple and tasty—like a creamy version of a classic salad. I added a tiny pinch of garlic powder just because, and it was even better.

Love that idea! The lemon + dill already does a lot, but a little garlic powder makes it extra savory—will try that next time.

This is so refreshing. The ranch + dill combo is perfect and the lemon brightens everything up. I didn’t even peel mine and it still worked great.

I tried it but I peeled mine (habit 😅). Mine was still tasty though—next time I’ll skip the peeling like you. Do you think it matters for bitterness?

    2. 5 stars
I’m with you—this combo is so good. I like how dill brings that fresh flavor without overpowering the lemon.

The ratios are solid, but I found it needed more salt. After chilling a bit longer, the flavors really came together.

This was okay, but not life changing. I wanted more flavor, so I added chopped green onion and that fixed it.

I followed the recipe but it ended up kinda watery. Still tasted good though, maybe my cucumbers were too juicy?

Happens to me too—cucumbers can dump a lot of water. Next time I salt the slices for 10 min, then pat them dry before tossing. That usually fixes the “watery” part.

Watery? maybe you used the wrong kind of ranch? I always add more sour cream so it thickens back up. Also, 10 minutes isn’t long enough in my house lol.

  98. 2 stars
Kinda bland for me. I love ranch, but I think it needs garlic powder or a pinch of sugar to balance the lemon.

Meh… I forgot to refrigerate and it tasted watery. Also the cucumbers were kinda soggy, so probably my fault but I won’t rush to make again.

Made it exactly as written. Creamy but not too heavy, and the dill really pops. I did add a pinch more pepper, because why not. ⭐

So glad it worked for you! The dill really does make it pop—adding a little extra pepper is a totally fair move 😄

Maybe a dumb question—does sour cream + ranch get thin after the cucumbers sit? I always end up with watery salads and then it’s like… sad. But I love cucumbers, so I might try this anyway.

Way too salty for me even after “to taste.” I’d cut the salt in half next time. Also black pepper is stronger when freshly ground!

  102. User avatar Dwarven Shpere says:

This is okay. The cucumbers got a little watery, which made the dressing thinner than I expected. Maybe next time I’ll salt them first and drain.

  103. User avatar sonny.luettgen says:

I used dried dill because I didn’t have fresh. It was okay, but not as flavorful—fresh would’ve made a difference.

    1. User avatar kylie.boehm62 says:

Totally get that—dried dill can taste a bit muted next to fresh. Next time maybe use a little more dried (or add it earlier) and you’ll probably get closer to that punch. Still, “okay” isn’t bad for a quick fix!

Made it for a BBQ and it disappeared fast. Next time I’ll slice the cucumbers a little thinner for more crunch, but the flavor balance is spot on.

Mine got kinda watery after sitting in the fridge. I think I should’ve salted the cucumbers first and let them drain. Still good though.

Kinda bland for me at first, but after salting properly it came together. Next time I’ll add a touch of garlic powder—maybe that’s just my taste.

I’m not sure about sour cream + ranch on cucumbers… but honestly it tastes kinda good. The dill really makes it.

Super easy and cheap. I didn’t have fresh dill so I used dried and it was… ok? still ate it all lol

    Pretty good 👍

Thanks! I love how the ranch + lemon makes it taste super fresh. 😄

Not gonna lie, 10 minutes feels too short for me… I usually chill longer. But it’s still pretty good!
