Bird’s Nest Treats

April 9, 2025

Bird’s Nest Treats are a delightful, no-bake snack that is both fun to make and delicious to eat, making them the perfect addition to your Easter celebrations. These sweet, crunchy nests resemble the cozy homes of birds and are filled with colorful candy eggs, making them a festive treat that both kids and adults will love. Whether you’re hosting an Easter party, participating in an Easter egg hunt, or simply looking for a fun snack, Bird’s Nest Treats are sure to be a hit.

The base of these treats is typically made with crispy chow mein noodles or cornflakes, which provide a light, crunchy texture. The noodles or flakes are coated with a mixture of melted chocolate or butterscotch chips and peanut butter, which helps to bind the ingredients together and add a rich, sweet flavor. Once the mixture has cooled slightly, it is shaped into little nest-like formations on a baking sheet or parchment paper.

To complete the nests, colorful candy eggs, such as jelly beans or chocolate eggs, are placed in the center of each nest, mimicking the appearance of real bird’s eggs. These treats can be made in various sizes, from mini nests to larger ones, depending on your preference. The fun part is getting creative with the decoration, adding sprinkles, shredded coconut (dyed green for a grass-like effect), or even a drizzle of extra melted chocolate.

Bird’s Nest Treats are not only a fun activity for children but also a simple, stress-free snack to prepare for any Easter gathering. They can be made in advance and stored at room temperature or in the fridge, where they will keep their shape and flavor. These no-bake treats are the perfect combination of crunchy, sweet, and colorful, making them a delightful addition to your Easter celebrations or springtime parties.

Pretty easy. I used regular peanut butter and added the eggs while it was warm-ish. It all kinda stuck together but still tasted good. 3/5, but would make again.

This looks way too easy. Are you sure it tastes good? Can’t be that simple!

Okay, I was skeptical about chow mein noodles in chocolate, but wow. It’s actually good—sweet, salty-ish, and crunchy. Only thing: I had to stir more aggressively in the microwave so it wouldn’t scorch.

I love the idea but I accidentally used rice noodles instead. They still turned out delicious! 😂

Rice noodles?! That’s funny! 😂 Glad they turned out good anyway! Maybe I should try that too!

Made once and the chocolate seized a little when I microwaved—maybe my bowl was too hot? Still, the flavor was there. 2nd attempt better.

That happened to me too 😬 I was stirring in between but my bowl was still warm from washing. Next time I’ll let the bowl cool first. Still tasted good though—nests are fun.

Glad the 2nd try worked! Chocolate “seizing” in the microwave usually happens if it gets too hot or a tiny bit of moisture gets in—so your hot bowl theory makes sense. I’ve had better luck using slightly lower power + shorter bursts.

I messed up step 1 by microwaving too long once and it got a little grainy. Still tasted fine though. Also my nests kinda look like squished mountains, lol.

I thought this was a dinner recipe? Why you put chocolate in noodles? Seems odd to me.

I made these for a party and they disappeared fast. The nests held together nicely, and the peanut butter really rounds out the sweetness. Will definitely do again next year.
