Cinnamon Muffins

September 5, 2024

There’s something magical about the smell of cinnamon filling the air as these warm, golden muffins bake in the oven. Cinnamon muffins are the ultimate comfort food for breakfast, a midday snack, or even as a sweet treat to enjoy with your afternoon coffee. With their tender crumb and sweet cinnamon swirl, they combine the richness of baked goods with the spicy-sweet goodness of cinnamon, making them irresistible to anyone who takes a bite.

These muffins are easy to make, and they come together in no time, which makes them a perfect choice when you need a homemade snack but don’t have hours to spend in the kitchen. The recipe features simple ingredients: flour, sugar, eggs, butter, and milk, staples you likely have on hand. The magic happens when you add a generous amount of ground cinnamon, which gives the muffins their signature flavor.

What sets these muffins apart is the cinnamon-sugar swirl. A mixture of cinnamon and sugar is sprinkled into the batter before baking, creating that delightful swirl of sweetness and spice that runs through each muffin. As they bake, the cinnamon-sugar caramelizes just slightly, adding a touch of richness. The muffins come out of the oven golden-brown, with a light, fluffy texture and a perfect amount of sweetness.

While cinnamon muffins are delicious on their own, you can elevate them even further by topping them with a drizzle of glaze or a sprinkle of coarse sugar before baking for a touch of extra sweetness and crunch. They’re also incredibly versatile, feel free to add chopped nuts, like walnuts or pecans, for a bit of texture, or stir in raisins or dried cranberries for an added burst of flavor.

Cinnamon muffins are perfect for a lazy weekend breakfast, an office treat, or when you want something simple yet satisfying. They’re a guaranteed crowd-pleaser that works for any occasion, filling the kitchen with the irresistible scent of fresh-baked goodness. Whether served warm with a dollop of butter or enjoyed straight from the cooling rack, these cinnamon muffins are a sweet, comforting bite of happiness.

I think the nutmeg was too much, I couldn’t really taste the cinnamon. Will try again with less.

I totally agree! Nutmeg can be really overpowering. I prefer to stick with just cinnamon too. Good luck next time!

I tried making them, but mine came out kinda dry. I followed the recipe exactly.

Maybe you overmixed? That can make them dry!

  22. 5 stars

Muffins should always be made with butter, not vegetable oil! Not sure about this one.

Nutmeg is a spice. It gives a warm, cozy flavor. You can leave it out if you don’t have it, but it might taste a bit different. I say give it a try! 😊

    2. 3 stars
Nah, just skip it. I never use nutmeg, and my muffins turn out fine! Who needs extra spices? 🤷‍♂️

I don’t get how u can mess up muffins. Just follow the steps! Maybe your oven is hotter than mine? Idk.

    2. 5 stars
That can happen! Make sure to check them a minute or two before the timer goes off next time. They might need less time in your oven.

  32. User avatar tarra.predovic says:

    2 stars
Too sweet! My family didn’t like them much. Stick to pancakes, they’re better.

  33. User avatar cherise.bailey66 says:

    3 stars
Too much cinnamon for my liking. I think it should be half of that. Just saying!

  34. 3 stars
I don’t get why everyone’s loving these so much. They taste fine, but not that special…

  35. User avatar roy.okuneva says:

    2 stars
Why do you add nutmeg? Isn’t it too much spice for muffins??

    1. User avatar fredric.king16 says:

      5 stars
Nutmeg gives a nice warmth to the muffins! Just a pinch elevates the flavor. Trust me, it won’t be too spicy!

  36. User avatar jenni.hodkiewicz6 says:

    1 star
Cinnamon muffins? More like nutmeg muffins! 😂 Where’s the nutmeg??

    1. 5 stars
Haha, I get your point! Nutmeg would actually work too. Don’t knock it ’til ya try it! 😂

  37. User avatar mack.kunde63 says:

Super easy! I added some raisins too. They kinda burnt but still yummy! 😋
