Chickpea tuna salad is a wholesome and satisfying dish that combines the heartiness of tuna with the earthy flavor of chickpeas for a protein-packed meal that works any time of day. It’s the kind of salad that proves healthy eating doesn’t have to be boring. The blend of textures makes every bite interesting, with the creamy tuna contrasting against the slightly firm chickpeas. It’s refreshing yet filling, making it perfect for lunch, a light dinner, or a quick snack in between busy moments.
What makes chickpea tuna salad stand out is its versatility. It can be served on its own, piled high on fresh greens, or tucked into a sandwich or wrap for a portable option. Some people enjoy it with crackers for a crunchy contrast, while others prefer it as a topping for toast. It’s also easy to customize: fresh herbs, crunchy vegetables, and a drizzle of lemon juice or olive oil can completely change its flavor profile. That flexibility makes it a favorite for meal prepping, as it stores well and tastes even better after the flavors have had time to meld.
This salad also caters to a wide range of dietary needs and preferences. Chickpeas add plant-based protein and fiber, making the dish more filling and nutrient-dense. Tuna contributes omega-3 fatty acids, which support heart and brain health. Together, they create a balanced, protein-rich meal that’s both satisfying and nourishing.
Beyond its nutritional benefits, chickpea tuna salad is perfect for those who love convenience without sacrificing flavor. It comes together quickly, requires minimal preparation, and doesn’t need elaborate ingredients to shine. Busy professionals, students, and families often turn to it as a go-to recipe for weekday meals.
It’s also a dish that transitions seamlessly between casual and more polished presentations. Serve it in a bowl for a simple lunch or dress it up with avocado slices and colorful vegetables for a dinner party appetizer. Chickpea tuna salad is proof that simple ingredients, when combined thoughtfully, can create something truly satisfying. It’s a staple worth adding to your rotation, offering the perfect mix of nutrition, taste, and ease in every bite.

really simple and healthy! my kinda recipe
This salad is super easy to make and tastes amazing! I added some avocado too.
Sounds delicious! I’m gonna try it with avocado too. Great idea!
My kids didn’t like it at all. They said the taste was weird.
I’m not sure about the combination. Tuna with chickpeas? Seems odd to me.
Yum! I added avocado and it was even better. Great for lunch!
Quick lunch idea! Loved it 😍
I tried it but it was too salty for me. Maybe less salt next time?
I agree! I think cutting back on the salt would improve the flavor a lot.
Couldn’t find chickpeas, used beans instead. Still tasted fine.
Not enough flavor for me. Needs a kick! Maybe try chili flakes?
But I think the way it is is fine!! Adding too much can ruin the taste, just depends on what you like, I guess.
I totally agree! A bit of spice can really elevate it. Chili flakes would be perfect to give it that extra oomph!
This salad is pretty good but I’ve made it better with some added spices.
Just made this! So fresh and good! Perfect for summer days.
Sounds delicious! I love chickpeas on a hot day. Can’t wait to try it!
I don’t know… chickpeas with tuna? That sounds weird. Like really weird.
This is such a quick and easy recipe! Love it!
Too much lemon! I love lemon, but this was too sour for me.
The video didn’t match the recipe. A bit disappointed.
Absolutely love this recipe! It’s so refreshing and easy to make. My kids even ate it!
I ain’t never used chickpeas before, but this turned out real nice! Will make again.
Chickpeas taste funny to me. I guess this salad isn’t for everyone.
Just made this for a picnic and everyone went crazy over it! Thanks for sharing!
So glad to hear that! This salad is a hit at gatherings for sure.
Looks good, but isn’t it just a tuna salad? I expected more pizzazz.
This is my go-to recipe now. So quick and healthy! 10/10 would recommend.
Isn’t this just a copy of a traditional tuna salad? Chickpeas are not tuna… weird.
This was just okay. I think it needed more flavor. Maybe some garlic?
This salad is amazing! So easy to make and delicious!
Perfect for a quick meal. I added some avocado too!
literal perfection!
Delicious. I made it and ate it right away—tastes like “fancy lunch.” Next time I’ll chill it longer too.
Wow, so easy! 🫶
Easy peasy! I can’t cook much, but this was a hit in my house!
Can I replace tuna with chicken? Asking for a friend haha.
It was okay. I’ve had better tuna salads before.
That’s interesting! What did you find lacking in it? Maybe I could tweak it for my taste.
I’m skeptical of mixing chickpeas and tuna, but wow. It’s better than I expected. I added a pinch of garlic powder and it was 🔥.
I’m still not convinced 😅 I feel like tuna needs mayo or something creamy… but I’ll admit, adding garlic powder sounds like it could fix the vibe. Anyone try Greek yogurt instead?
Same—chickpeas + tuna sounds kinda weird to me too, but I tried it and it’s actually really good. The lemon and olive oil make it work. 🔥
Best recipe ever! I just can’t get enough of it! YUM!
Why would you put so many green things in a salad? Looks icky.
Meh. I found it a little bland until I added extra black pepper and salt. Also, “serve immediately” is kinda hard—tastes different after fridge time.
The ratios feel a bit tuna-heavy for my taste, but I like tangy salads. If you use less tuna or more tomatoes, it should be really good.
Totally get that—tuna can overpower chickpeas fast. I usually do half tuna and bump the tomatoes/pickles to keep it bright and tangy.
I actually like it tuna-heavy 😅 The lemon and olive oil kinda mellow it out. Also I don’t half the tomatoes, I just chop—same taste though.
Made this for lunch and it’s honestly super refreshing. The lemon + olive oil combo really brings it together. I added a little celery for crunch and it was perfect.
Yesss! Lemon + olive oil is the move. The celery idea sounds amazing for that extra crunch—definitely trying it next time.
I like the concept, but I’m not sure about adding celery without adjusting the lemon. Might get a little too sharp for me—what ratio did you use?
What a weird combo… chickpeas and tuna? Not my thing.
Made this for my friends and they loved it! Will make again!
Five stars! I meal-prepped it and it stayed good for two days. The tomatoes pop and the parsley makes it feel restaurant-level.
I followed the recipe pretty much exactly. Tastes good, but I think it needed a bit more salt—my tuna was kind of bland.
I don’t like chickpeas, but my buddy said it was good. So…
Really liked it, but I think 3 tbsp olive oil might be a bit much depending on your tuna. Next time I’ll start with 2 and adjust. Still tasty though.
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about chickpeas + tuna, but it works. I added a little celery for crunch and it turned out perfect.
Not sure about the ratios. 3 tbsp olive oil seems like a lot with only 2 tbsp lemon juice—mine turned out kinda oily unless I used less. Still edible.
I tried something similar once and it came out bland, but the lemon + olive oil here seems like it would fix that. Going to make it this week.
Good and healthy-ish, but mine got watery after sitting in the fridge. Maybe my tomatoes were extra juicy.
I don’t know if I trust the chickpeas with tuna… sounds weird.
Great recipe for a hot day, didn’t heat the kitchen. Thank you!
This sounds delicious! Perfect for summer, I’m gonna try it! 😋
Tried this for lunch and it’s honestly so fresh. The lemon + olive oil combo really makes the chickpeas taste “tuna-y” in a good way. Would make again!
This is delicious! Also so easy. The hardest part was chopping the parsley (and I was lazy).
Not sure about the olive oil amount… 3 tbsp sounds like a lot for a salad that’s mostly chickpeas. Still, I guess lemon will balance it?
3 tbsp olive oil is a LOT lol. I’d do like 1-2 tbsp max, or you’ll end up with oily chickpeas instead of a fresh salad. Lemon isn’t magic 😅
I felt the same way at first, but 3 tbsp is pretty standard once you toss everything together. The lemon cuts it—just make sure you’re not overdressing and you can always add salt last.
Simple ingredients, big flavor. The chickpeas make it feel less heavy than regular tuna salad. Would absolutely make again.
Ok but why do people always put parsley in everything 😂 I’m sure it’s fine though. Would lime juice work instead of lemon?
This salad is the bomb! I added some avocado too. Yum!
I added some Greek yogurt and mustard because that’s how my family does it. Still a good base recipe—would recommend customizing.
Not bad, but the texture was kinda weird for me—like everything together wasn’t as cohesive as I hoped. Maybe dice the onion a little finer? Otherwise flavor is good.
Kinda mid. The lemon is strong and the olive oil makes it feel oily to me. Next time I’ll cut the oil in half.
I get what you mean—3 tbsp olive oil can be a lot with chickpeas + tuna. I usually start with 1.5 tbsp and add more only if it feels too dry. Maybe also add a little extra chopped tomato for balance.
Mid? That’s fair 😅. I think lemon juice strength depends a ton on the lemons—if yours were super tart then yeah it’ll overpower everything. Cutting oil in half sounds right, but don’t forget salt; it helps mellow the lemon.
Tried it… was a lil bland. Needs more spices.
This is super simple, but I messed up the measurement and used bottled lemon juice. Still came out okay, just not as bright. I’ll do it the right way next time.
IDK about tuna, but chickpeas r amazing! I would eat just that! 🙂
I totally get why you’d love chickpeas! They pack a punch with flavor and nutrition. The combo is actually pretty good, but I understand if you prefer to skip the tuna!
No way! Tuna is like, super healthy too! You might be missing out on a great taste combo. You should give it a shot!
I used canned chickpeas instead of dried, do you think that was the reason it was too mushy?
