Pigs in a Blanket with Bacon

December 19, 2024

Pigs in a blanket are a beloved party snack, often made with mini sausages wrapped in puff pastry or biscuit dough. While the classic version is always a hit, adding bacon to the mix takes this dish to a whole new level of deliciousness. The smoky, salty bacon pairs perfectly with the juicy sausages, creating a savory bite that is sure to please any crowd.

The beauty of pigs in a blanket with bacon is in its simplicity. You start with your favorite mini sausages, which provide the perfect balance of meatiness and flavor. Next, a slice of crispy bacon is wrapped around each sausage, infusing it with a rich, smoky taste that elevates the dish. The bacon not only adds flavor but also a delightful crunch, contrasting beautifully with the tender sausage inside.

Instead of the typical dough or puff pastry, this variation allows the bacon to take center stage. You can bake them on a sheet tray, where the bacon crisps up around the sausages, creating a mouthwatering golden exterior. The result is a snack that’s both hearty and satisfying, perfect for gatherings, game days, or a casual family meal.

These bacon-wrapped pigs in a blanket are incredibly versatile. You can add a variety of seasonings or even brush them with a glaze like maple syrup or honey for a touch of sweetness that complements the savory bacon. A dash of chili powder or garlic powder can also add a bit of heat and flavor.

Whether served as an appetizer at a party or as a fun addition to a casual meal, pigs in a blanket with bacon are always a crowd favorite. They’re easy to make, full of flavor, and undeniably delicious. With the smoky, savory taste of bacon wrapping around the juicy sausage, this upgraded version of the classic is sure to become a new go-to snack for any occasion.

Disapointing. The pastry was too soggy and didn’t cook right. Maybe I did something wrong?

I dunno, sounds kinda easy but what if the bacon ain’t cooked right? Might just stick to regular pigs in blankets.

I don’t get why you would wrap bacon around sausage. Seems extra.

    1. User avatar dorcas.hessel50 says:

      2 stars
I don’t know… looks messy to me. Why not just mini sausages by themselves? 🤔

This recipe needs more bacon! 8 slices for 16 sausages ain’t enough!

    1. User avatar Super Saiyan Blue Goku says:

      2 stars
But that’s how you make pigs in a blanket. Too much bacon would overpower the sausages. I say stick to the recipe!

    2. 5 stars
I totally agree! More bacon would definitely make this dish better. Can’t have too much bacon!

  10. 1 star
I thought I was getting the wrong chills. It shoulda called ‘pigs in a sheet’ not blanket. 😂
