Chai Spiced Baked Pears

August 8, 2023

Chai Spiced Baked Pears are a delightful and aromatic dessert that combines the sweetness of pears with the warming spices of chai. This dish brings the comforting flavors of a spiced tea to a luscious, baked fruit dessert, making it the perfect treat for chilly evenings or any time you crave something cozy and fragrant.

The process begins with ripe pears, which are halved and cored, creating the perfect little pockets to hold the flavorful chai-spiced syrup. The pears are then baked slowly, allowing them to soften and caramelize, soaking up all the delicious spices and sweetness from the syrup. The chai spices-cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, and a pinch of black pepper, fill the air with their comforting aroma as the pears bake, making the kitchen smell like fall and winter all at once.

To make the spiced syrup, a mix of water, brown sugar, and the chai spices is simmered until it thickens slightly. This syrup is poured over the pears before baking, ensuring that the fruit absorbs all the flavors and develops a deep, spiced sweetness. The pears become tender and juicy, while the syrup forms a sticky, aromatic glaze that coats the fruit beautifully.

Once baked, the pears are ready to be served. For an extra touch of indulgence, you can drizzle some of the chai-spiced syrup over the pears and garnish with a sprinkle of crushed nuts, such as pistachios or almonds, or a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. The creaminess balances the warmth of the spices, creating a perfect harmony of textures.

Chai Spiced Baked Pears are not only a comforting dessert, but also an elegant one. With their warm, spiced flavors and tender fruit, they make a great choice for a dinner party or a quiet evening at home. This dessert is naturally gluten-free and dairy-free, making it suitable for various dietary preferences.

In essence, Chai Spiced Baked Pears are a perfect blend of fruity sweetness and chai warmth. They bring together the best of both worlds, comforting fall spices and tender baked pears, into a dessert that feels both indulgent and light at the same time. It’s an ideal way to enjoy the cozy flavors of chai in a fresh, unique form.

Pears are dumb fruits to bake with, tried it and didn’t like it. Are they even good for that? Just stick to apples!

Nah, apples are the best for baking. Pears just turn mushy and don’t taste good. This recipe sounds like a waste of time!

So easy to make! My kids loved them and that’s saying something. Thank you!

I dunno about that… my kids weren’t fans of pears. Maybe it’s just mine that are picky?

I thought they were really good! Maybe you just need to adjust the spices to your taste. Everyone’s palate is different!

  6. 3 stars
I dunno, seems too sweet with all that maple syrup. Maybe just a drizzle next time? Not sure if they will taste like fruit anymore.

  7. 2 stars
I love pears, but this wasn’t for me. Maybe it’s the walnuts? 🤔

    1. User avatar jerome.ebert14 says:

      4 stars
I totally agree! I think the walnuts can be a bit overpowering. Maybe try it without them next time?

    2. User avatar karren.kautzer2015 says:

But walnuts are great! They add crunch and flavor! Maybe you just didn’t bake them long enough?

Love this recipe, super easy! I don’t have a fancy spice mix tho, just used cinnamon, still awesome!

I think pears are overrated. This recipe is nice if you like them but nah.

  10. User avatar marya.nolan37 says:

Mmm this looks good but is it really that healthy? I mean, maple syrup has a lot of sugar, right?

Just made these, and they kinda burnt a little. Oops. Still edible though!

Chai spice is a weird combo for this. Not sure I’ll make it again.

    1. User avatar felecia.batz says:

Idk, chai spice on pears? Sounds odd to me. I just don’t see how that would taste good, but hey, everyone has their own taste I guess. Good luck!

    2. User avatar evelynn.schuppe29 says:

      5 stars
I actually loved the chai spice in this! It added a nice kick to the sweetness of the pears. Maybe give it another try?

Super easy recipe! I didn’t have walnuts so I used almonds. Still delicious. Can’t wait to try with yogurt next time!

Use cinnamon instead of chai! Helps with the flavor if you don’t have chai at home.

    1. User avatar sharon.mayert2001 says:

      5 stars
Great idea! Cinnamon is my favorite spice anyway. Can’t wait to try it with pears!

    2. 2 stars
I dunno, chai spice really is the point of the recipe. Just throwing cinnamon seems lazy.

  16. 2 stars
I think the flavors clash a bit. Pears are sweet and adding more sugar just seems… too much. 2/5 from me.

    1. User avatar domingo.nikolaus22 says:

      4 stars
I disagree! The sweetness from the pears and maple syrup complements the chai spice really well! Maybe try less sugar next time?

    2. User avatar Glossu "Beast" Rabban says:
