Baked Apples with Nuts and Honey

April 29, 2024

When the weather turns cooler and the scent of fall fills the air, there’s nothing quite as comforting as a warm, baked dessert. Baked Apples with Nuts and Honey offer a simple, yet delightful treat that’s perfect for cozy nights in or even as a light holiday dessert. With the natural sweetness of apples, the richness of honey, and the satisfying crunch of toasted nuts, this dessert is an easy way to indulge without overloading on sugar.

The magic begins with your choice of apples – tart varieties like Granny Smith or Fuji work wonderfully, offering a perfect balance to the rich, nutty filling. You core the apples, creating a cozy little space to pack in a mixture of nuts like walnuts, pecans, or almonds. Toasted just right, these nuts bring a deep, earthy flavor that pairs perfectly with the sweet apples.

A drizzle of honey ties everything together, adding just the right amount of sweetness and a golden finish that caramelizes as the apples bake, creating a luscious glaze. Some cinnamon or a dash of nutmeg enhances the warmth and comfort of the dish, filling your kitchen with irresistible aromas.

Baking the apples softens their flesh to a perfect melt-in-your-mouth texture while the nuts remain crunchy, creating a satisfying contrast in each bite. Whether enjoyed alone or served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, Baked Apples with Nuts and Honey are a versatile dessert that fits any occasion.

Not only is this dessert light and delicious, but it’s also naturally gluten-free and can be easily customized. Add dried fruits, a sprinkle of oats, or even a touch of dark chocolate for a little extra indulgence. This dish is as wholesome as it is delicious – a perfect way to enjoy the flavors of the season.

I thought the apples would be sweeter with all the honey, but they were kinda bland. Not impressed. 2 stars.

I wonder if you just got the wrong kind of apples. Honeycrisp are usually sweeter. Maybe try a different type next time?

Do you have to use honey? I don’t really like it. Can I skip it?

  8. 3 stars
Not bad, but next time I’ll add more cinnamon. It was a little bland for my taste. 🤷‍♂️

Apples?? Nuts?? Who even eats this?? Give me chocolate any day! 🍫

  13. 2 stars
Okay, but like also, why not just eat the apples raw? Seems like more work for no reason…

Baked apples are way better! You get that warm, gooey goodness with all the flavors mixed in. Plus, it’s a nice dessert idea! 😋

Idk, raw apples just don’t hit the same. Cooking them brings out flavors and makes them special, you know? But each to their own, I guess.

The nut mixture burned a little, but I just scraped it off and ate the apples. Not bad overall. 3 stars.

I think the key is to watch the nuts while they’re baking! They can go from perfect to burnt real quick. Glad you enjoyed the apples though!

Burnt nuts? Eww, sounds gross! Next time, maybe don’t bake them as long? But hey, if you liked the apples, that’s all that matters!

    1. 5 stars
I think pears would work great! They’re juicy and sweet, just like apples. Give it a go!

Baked apples? Isn’t that just a mushy fruit mess? Why not just eat ’em raw?

    1. 4 stars
I get what you mean, but baked apples are actually really good! They get all sweet and warm, kinda like a dessert. Give it a shot! 🍏
