Apple Turnover

October 4, 2023

The Popularity of Apple Turnover

Apple turnover is a beloved pastry that has been enjoyed by people around the world for centuries. It has become a staple dessert in many cultures and is often associated with comfort and indulgence. Whether served as a dessert at a family dinner or as a treat with afternoon tea, apple turnovers are always a crowd-pleaser.

Health Benefits of Apple Turnover

While apple turnovers may not be considered a traditional health food, they do offer some nutritional benefits. The primary ingredient, apples, are packed with vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants. Apples are known to promote digestive health, aid in weight management, and support heart health. However, it’s important to note that the healthiness of an apple turnover also depends on the quality of the ingredients used and the portion size consumed.

When preparing apple turnovers, you can make healthier choices by using whole wheat pastry dough or reducing the amount of sugar in the filling. Additionally, adding spices like cinnamon can enhance the flavor without adding unnecessary calories or fat. Opting for organic or locally sourced apples can also be a healthier choice, as they tend to have fewer pesticides and a higher nutrient content.

It’s worth mentioning that moderation is key when enjoying apple turnovers, as they are typically high in calories and may contain added fats. However, by making a few ingredient substitutions and monitoring portion sizes, you can still enjoy this delicious treat as part of a balanced diet.

I dunno, I thought it was kinda complicated. Did you really feel like a chef tho? 🤔

  17. 2 stars
Why do you need lemon juice? That seems weird to me. I just skipped it and mine turned out fine.

    1. User avatar michal.abernathy1972 says:

      4 stars
Lemon juice helps to brighten the flavors and keep the apples from browning too quickly. It’s not weird, it’s just good cooking practice!

This is not how you make won tons. Puff pastry is for desserts only!

They turned out to be a bit too sweet for my liking, but the cinnamon smell was divine.

    1. 3 stars
Too sweet? I thought they were just right! 🤷‍♂️ Everyone’s taste is different, I guess.

    2. User avatar Ms. Brent Padberg says:

      4 stars
I totally get you! They can be a bit too sweet. Maybe try cutting down the sugar next time? Still love the smell of cinnamon though!

  21. 3 stars
I dunno, the apples didn’t cook through all the way. Maybe I should have diced them smaller?

    1. 4 stars
Dicing them smaller definitely helps! But sometimes it’s just the oven. Make sure it’s preheated enough next time.

  22. User avatar CTRLplusW says:

I had some doubts, but they turned out pretty decent. I think I used too much sugar tho. Next time I’ll cut back.

  23. User avatar Deep Thought says:

Loved it! But I added nutmeg too, made them even better. 😋

  24. 2 stars
I don’t think this recipe’s gonna work. What if the apples are too soggy?

    1. User avatar clemente.ullrich64 says:

      4 stars
I think it’ll be fine! Just make sure you don’t overcook the apples. They shouldn’t be too soggy if you follow the steps. 😊

  34. User avatar ross.baumbach73 says:

This was okay, but I think I’m more of a pie person. I added some nuts to the filling but it was a bit weird.

  35. 2 stars
Not impressed. The pastry was soggy and I couldn’t get it right. Maybe I’m just not good at this 😕.

  36. User avatar Margot Fenring says:

Turnovers? More like turn-overs my expectations! Couldn’t wait for them to cool down, ate them hot.

  37. User avatar lionel.strosin18 says:

    1 star
Just blah… I thought they would be nice and sweet. Definitely not making again.

  38. User avatar Lumberjack says:

    2 stars
Not really what I expected… The apples were too sweet and cinnamon was strong. 😕

    1. User avatar alexander.sporer says:

      4 stars
I find the sweetness really depends on the type of apples you use! Maybe try a tart variety next time? 🍏
