Baked Asparagus Fries

July 11, 2024

Discover a healthier twist on fries with our Baked Asparagus Fries recipe. Crispy, delicious, and easy to make, these fries are a perfect side dish or snack that everyone will love.

Craving a snack that’s both healthy and satisfying? Baked asparagus fries are the answer. This clever twist on traditional fries uses tender asparagus spears coated in a crunchy breadcrumb mixture and baked until golden and crispy. They’re a guilt-free option that’s perfect for snacking or as a side dish alongside your favorite meal.

The best part about asparagus fries is how simple they are to make. You start by trimming the asparagus spears and dipping them in a light egg wash before coating them in a flavorful breadcrumb mixture. For an extra touch, add parmesan, garlic powder, or your favorite seasoning blend to the breadcrumbs for even more depth of flavor.

Baking, rather than frying, keeps them light and crisp while letting the natural flavors of the asparagus shine through. The high heat ensures that the asparagus becomes tender inside, with just the right amount of crunch on the outside. A drizzle of olive oil helps them crisp up perfectly, while keeping things healthier than traditional fried options.

These baked asparagus fries are a great alternative to regular fries, offering a fresh vegetable with a satisfying texture and flavor. They’re perfect for dipping in ketchup, ranch dressing, or even a tangy lemon aioli.

Whether you serve them as an appetizer at a party, a side dish for dinner, or as a fun snack, baked asparagus fries are an easy and delicious way to add more veggies to your diet without compromising on taste. Crispy, savory, and healthy – what’s not to love?

Pairing is the art of combining different elements, whether it’s food and wine, flavors in a dish, or even colors in design, to create a harmonious and complementary experience. In the culinary world, food and drink pairings are designed to enhance the flavors of each, such as a rich red wine with a bold steak or a light white wine with a delicate seafood dish. The goal is to balance contrasting elements, like acidity with sweetness or saltiness with richness, to elevate the overall taste experience. Whether in meals or aesthetics, pairing thoughtfully brings out the best in both components, creating a more enjoyable and cohesive outcome.

Easy recipe but they came out a bit mushy for me. Maybe I baked them too long? I’ll try again but with less time.

Pretty good but I didn’t have panko so I used regular breadcrumbs. Wasn’t the same vibe! Next time, I’ll get the right stuff.

  17. 1 star
This is just weird. Why fry a veggie? Seems pointless to me. 😒

    1. User avatar venice.collier44 says:

      5 stars
I totally disagree! Baking asparagus gives it a whole new flavor and makes it crispy! You should try it before knocking it! 😁

    2. 3 stars
But frying veggies can actually taste amazing! Have you tried any? Maybe you just need to give it a chance!

  18. 4 stars
I made these with regular cheese instead of parmesan because I didn’t have any. Still yummy!

  19. User avatar lala.hagenes says:

    1 star
What’s with the fancy word “panko”? Just use regular bread crumbs, idiots.

  20. User avatar hung.erdman91 says:

Asparagus is nasty. This is just pathetic. Like who eats this?

  21. User avatar catherina.williamson says:

I think I cooked them too long 😅 but still tasted decent!

    1. 5 stars
Hey, don’t worry! Sometimes things get a bit crispy, but as long as it tasted good, that’s what matters! 🎉

  22. User avatar bryce.walker says:

Why would anyone make fries with asparagus? Should just stick to potato. I don’t get it.

  23. User avatar wellRespected says:

    2 stars
The texture was off for me. I prefer my asparagus steamed. Not a fan of the frying idea.

    1. 4 stars
I understand where you’re coming from! Steamed asparagus has its charm. But have you tried it this way? It’s yummy! Can’t beat that crunch!

  24. 2 stars
I don’t understand how these are fries. Asparagus is not a potato! This does not make any sense.

    1. 4 stars
I get where you’re coming from! But think of it like a healthier version of fries. It’s pretty tasty once you try it!

    2. User avatar ShanksOnePiece says:

      3 stars
But they call it ‘fries’ because of the way they are made! They might not be potatoes, but they can still be good!

  25. 2 stars
Too much crunch for me. I like my veggies soft. 🤮

  26. 5 stars
My friend made these for a party and they were gone in no time! Super tasty, but I used Italian seasoning instead of paprika. Still worked great!
