If you’re looking to start your day with something hearty and satisfying, a grilled steak and bell pepper breakfast hash is the kind of bold breakfast that delivers. This dish is a high-protein, flavor-packed way to fuel your morning, combining tender grilled steak with sweet, slightly charred bell peppers and crispy golden potatoes in one savory skillet.
What makes this breakfast hash so special is the balance of textures and flavors. The steak brings a rich, meaty bite that pairs beautifully with the natural sweetness of bell peppers. Add in some caramelized onions and crunchy potatoes, and you have a breakfast that eats more like a feast than a routine meal. Whether you prefer your steak medium-rare or well-done, it plays perfectly off the fresh vegetables and simple seasoning.
This kind of dish is often associated with weekend brunch, but it’s easy enough to prep for weekday mornings too. You can grill the steak ahead of time, chop the veggies the night before, and simply toss everything into a pan in the morning. In less than 15 minutes, you’ll have a hot, savory breakfast that keeps you full for hours.
Another great thing about breakfast hash is its flexibility. Don’t have steak? Swap it with leftover chicken, sausage, or even tofu. You can use any type of potato, or go low-carb with sweet potatoes or cauliflower. Throw in a handful of spinach or kale at the end for an extra boost of greens.
If you want to elevate it even further, top your hash with a fried or poached egg. The runny yolk adds a silky richness that ties everything together. A splash of hot sauce or a spoonful of chimichurri can also take it to the next level.
Grilled steak and bell pepper breakfast hash isn’t just a dish – it’s a celebration of everything that makes a great breakfast. It’s warm, filling, and layered with flavor, making it the perfect way to start a productive day or recover from a long night. Whether you’re cooking for yourself or a full house, this is the kind of breakfast that makes everyone look forward to mornings.

I don’t know about this one… the combination of cayenne and steak is weird. Mine didn’t turn out great.
This is def gonna be my new weekend dish! Thanks for sharing.
Never cooked steak like this before, so it was a bit tough. Not sure if I did it wrong?
Maybe the steak was overcooked? Try reducing the grill time next time.
Could not find cayenne pepper so I just used chili powder… taste was off
Quick breakfast that fills you up! I added chorizo for more kick.
Chorizo sounds like a great addition! I usually just make it as is, but I’ll have to try that next time.
Not sure about adding chorizo… isn’t the steak enough? Sounds kinda heavy.
Is the olive oil necessary? Seems like just extra fat, I used butter instead.
Olive oil is healthier tho! Butter is tasty but it got cholesterol and stuff. What you think?
I think olive oil adds a nice flavor, but butter is fine too! Just depends on what you like!
This is like a fajita mix for breakfast! Love it, made it for my friends and they devoured it!
That sounds amazing! I gotta try this recipe too. It’s gonna be a hit at my next brunch!
Looks good but I’m not a fan of steak for breakfast. I’ll stick with my oatmeal.
Why would you put so many vegetables? It should just be about the steak.
OMG I can’t even cook eggs properly. How am I supposed to get them done right in the skillet? Any tips?
Steak in the morning? Sounds weird. But then again, I eat bacon with pancakes so who am I to judge? 🤷♂️
So good for brunch! I added some cheese on top and it was to die for!
Steak for breakfast? Best idea ever! I just did it without the eggs and added bacon instead!
Not my thing. Just potatoes and eggs for me, lol.
This was kinda bland for me. I added cheese and some hot sauce. Not bad but won’t make again.
I used chicken instead of steak and it turned out awesome! 🐔
Chicken in a breakfast hash? I dunno about that… Isn’t it supposed to be steak?
That’s so creative! I never thought to use chicken. 🥰 I’ll try it next time!
It’s breakfast, not lunch! Why steak? Can’t we just stick to bacon??
Delicious!!! I will be making this every weekend now! 🤤
Sounds amazing! Can’t wait to try it myself. 😍
Every weekend? You’ll get tired of it real quick, trust me! 😂
Eh, thought it was okay. Hard to get excited over breakfast like this.
Amazing recipe! My family loved it, especially the steak. Will def make again!
Eh, it was alright. My potatoes were mushy! Maybe I cooked them too long??
Yeah, overcooked potatoes can get mushy real quick. Maybe try cutting them smaller next time?
This was AMAZING! The flavors just pop! My whole family loved it!
So glad you loved it! The flavor combination really makes it special! 🥰
I thought there were too many bell peppers… couldn’t taste the steak much. Maybe drop one?
This is literally the best breakfast ever! I made it for my family and they loved it!
You forgot to mention how to grill steak properly! That part was confusing! 😕
So good!!! The potatoes get super crispy if you follow the timing. Yum!
Absolutely agree! I could eat this every morning. The crispy potatoes are the best part!
This looks good, but I’m not sure about the eggs in the same pan. Aren’t they going to get mixed in with everything else? Seems messy.
This was amazing! The flavors really pop. Will definitely make it again!
I didn’t like it. The peppers were too mushy and tasted weird together.
Nah, I liked it! The mushiness means you’re cooking ’em right. Just needs a bit of seasoning!
I totally get that! Bell peppers can be hit or miss depending on how they’re cooked. Maybe try them less next time?
Mmm, gotta try this! But can I use chicken instead of steak? Anyone?
No eggs, plz. Yuck! But the rest is good, I guess.
No eggs?? That’s weird. Eggs make everything better! But the rest sounds yummy.
I get it, some people don’t like eggs. But have you tried them in this recipe? They add a nice creaminess!
Had to make some changes, but it turned out good! Used chicken instead of steak.
Sounds like a great twist! I might try chicken next time too. Thanks for sharing your change!
I dunno, chicken seems a bit off for this recipe. How good could it really be? Stick to the steak, I’d say.
My kids loved it! Just a bit spicy for me. Had to tone down the cayenne.
Instructions were kinda confusing at first. Should have detailed how to grill the steak.
