Strawberry Shortbread Frozen Yogurt

March 4, 2026

Strawberry Shortbread Frozen Yogurt is a refreshing dessert that captures the sweetness of summer in every spoonful. Light, creamy, and gently tangy, it combines the bright flavor of ripe strawberries with the comforting richness of buttery shortbread, creating a balance that feels both playful and elegant.

The base of this frozen yogurt is made with thick, creamy Greek yogurt that gives the dessert its signature freshness. Blended with fresh strawberries, it takes on a soft pink color and a naturally fruity sweetness. A touch of honey or sugar enhances the flavor without overpowering the delicate notes of the berries. The result is a smooth mixture that already tastes irresistible before freezing.

Shortbread pieces are what make this dessert truly special. Their buttery, crumbly texture contrasts beautifully with the creamy frozen yogurt. As they soften slightly in the cold, they become tender and melt gently in your mouth, adding warmth and comfort to each bite. The combination of cool yogurt and rich biscuit creates a dessert that feels both light and satisfying.

This frozen yogurt is perfect for warm afternoons, family gatherings, or as a healthier alternative to traditional ice cream. It is easy to prepare ahead of time and can be stored in the freezer until you are ready to serve. Letting it sit for a few minutes at room temperature before scooping allows it to reach the perfect creamy consistency.

Strawberry Shortbread Frozen Yogurt also invites creativity. You can swirl in extra strawberry sauce for a more intense flavor, add a hint of vanilla for warmth, or top it with fresh berries and crushed shortbread just before serving. Each small touch makes the dessert feel personal and special.

What makes this recipe so appealing is its simplicity. It does not rely on heavy cream or complicated steps, yet it delivers a dessert that feels indulgent and joyful. It is proof that fresh fruit, good yogurt, and a little imagination can create something truly delightful.

If you are looking for a dessert that is refreshing, comforting, and full of flavor, Strawberry Shortbread Frozen Yogurt is a beautiful choice. It is the kind of treat that brings a smile with every spoonful and leaves you wanting just one more bite.

I don’t know, sounds fancy, but strawberries in yogurt? Like, what? I’ll stick to my chocolate ice cream, thanks.

I can’t believe how easy this was! I don’t even have an ice cream maker but just froze it in a container and it worked!

That’s awesome! I always thought you needed an ice cream maker for frozen yogurt. Can’t wait to try this out!

  3. 5 stars
My kids loved it! They devoured it before I even got a scoop. Just a lil messy but what do you expect with yogurt?

    1. User avatar liberal.hero says:

      5 stars
That sounds amazing! I can’t wait to try it with my kids too! Thanks for sharing!

    2. 3 stars
Messy?! That’s just part of the fun! But is it really that good? I don’t think my kids would go for yogurt like that…

This was a hit at our family BBQ! Everyone raved about it and it was so easy to make. Will definitely be making again.

I dunno, it sounds kinda basic. I prefer something more complicated or else it ain’t special.

  5. User avatar emanuel.senger1993 says:

    3 stars
Eh, it was alright. I thought it would be sweeter, maybe I used too much yogurt? Not sure I’ll try again.

  6. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

    4 stars
Okay, but is it really “frozen yogurt” if it’s basically yogurt ice cream? Either way, I’m eating it.

  7. User avatar w00d_ch0p says:

    2 stars
Why didn’t mine get thick like soft-serve? I churned it and it was still pretty runny. Maybe my ice cream maker is weak, or I didn’t chill the base long enough.

    1. User avatar ricardo.kutch says:

      5 stars
I think you nailed the usual suspects. If the base wasn’t chilled long enough before churning, it’ll stay runny. Also, different yogurt brands have different fat/protein, and low-fat can be way softer. Try chilling the blended base in the fridge at least a couple hours (or overnight) before you churn, and make sure your machine is already cold too.

  8. User avatar ricky.ondricka says:

So good, my kids loved it! Perfect treat for hot days. Will make again for sure!

Made this last night—so creamy even without eggs. The strawberry flavor came through great, and the shortbread chunks were a perfect sweet crunch.

    1. User avatar Tricia McMillan says:

      3 stars
I tried it and mine didn’t get that creamy (more like icy) even though I churned it… maybe my strawberries were too watery? Still tasted good though, and the shortbread chunks were legit.

    2. User avatar Sabre Cat says:

      5 stars
Omg yes—using Greek yogurt instead of eggs is the move. Creamy + strawberry is exactly what I’m craving. 🍓

  10. User avatar odessa.donnelly92 says:

    2 stars
Not sure what went wrong, but it turned out super icy and not creamy at all. Disappointed.

  11. User avatar chester.wiegand87 says:

    2 stars
I tried makin dis recipe, but I don’t have an ice cream maker 😩. I just put it in a bowl and stirred it every hour. Came out a bit icy.

  12. User avatar noble.hirthe says:

    5 stars
This sounds like the perfect compromise between dessert and something kinda “healthy-ish.” I love strawberry + vanilla and the shortbread bits are genius.

    1. User avatar nada.blick55 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree! The strawberry + vanilla combo is elite, and the shortbread bits really make it feel like dessert without being too heavy.

    2. 3 stars
Wait—can I just mix it and freeze it without an ice cream maker? I don’t have one… but it sounds sooo good. Also do you think low-fat yogurt would still work or nah?

  13. User avatar jimmie.heller says:

    5 stars
This is the best summer treat! So refreshing and easy to make.

  14. User avatar carlton.gottlieb80 says:

    4 stars
Tried it with frozen strawberries because that’s all I had… It was still yummy! Might add more sugar next time.

  15. 3 stars
The shortbread cookies made it kind of gritty for me. Next time I’ll crush finer or maybe toast them first? Also didn’t freeze long enough so it melted fast.

    1. User avatar ava.lindgren91 says:

      4 stars
Ugh gritty shortbread is the worst 😅 Crushing in a food processor a bit longer (or pulsing just until fine) should help. Toasting the crumbs first could also dry them out a touch so they don’t feel grainy. And yeah—if it only chilled/freezed a short time, it’ll melt fast since it’s basically yogurt-ice-cream, not a super hard scoop. Next time try the full 1–2 hours and keep it covered tight.

  16. 4 stars
Used low-fat yogurt and it turned out fine! I added some blueberries too.

    1. User avatar Sand-Dial says:

      5 stars
Sounds delish! Blueberries must have added a nice twist. Can’t wait to try it!

  17. User avatar Desmond Satterfield says:

    5 stars
Super easy to make and tastes amazing! Perfect for summer. I added a bit of lemon zest for an extra zing.

  18. User avatar herman.franecki23 says:

    3 stars
I forgot the vanilla and it still came out okay. Not the best but not bad. Would be better with chocolate, lol.

  19. User avatar Snow Bear says:

    4 stars
I think it could’ve used some more strawberries. Maybe I’ll add more next time I try it.

  20. User avatar renae.bruen64 says:

    4 stars
I made something similar, and the churning step is key. Mine got icy when I rushed the freeze. Does the 1-2 hours really help it firm up without turning rock hard?

  21. 5 stars
Shortbread folding at the end is genius. I was worried the cookies would dissolve, but they stayed crunchy-ish.

  22. User avatar sook.swaniawski49 says:

    3 stars
Not gonna lie, “frozen yogurt” usually turns out bland. The cookie fold-in saved it, but the strawberry flavor could’ve been stronger for me.

  23. User avatar jona.willms1956 says:

    5 stars
Yogurt and strawberries? Sounds weird but this is really nice! Who would’ve thought? 🍓

  24. 5 stars
lol my kids loved this! we made a mess but worth it! 🍓

  25. 5 stars
Absolutely delicious! The flavor is refreshing and perfect for summer!

    1. User avatar celina.stiedemann says:

      5 stars
I’m glad you enjoyed it! It’s such a great treat for hot days.

  26. User avatar alphonse.jenkins says:

    5 stars
This sounds dangerously easy. I love frozen yogurt but the shortbread mix-in is genius—feels like a dessert hybrid. Gonna try low-fat Greek yogurt and keep the sugar a bit lower.

  27. 5 stars
    So good! 🍓🍦

    1. User avatar jan.harris48 says:

      3 stars
Looks good but isn’t yogurt supposed to be healthier? This seems kinda indulgent.

    2. User avatar Jarvan IV says:

      5 stars
      I know right? It’s a perfect summer treat! 🍓😋

  28. User avatar Frankie and Benjy says:

    4 stars
I don’t have an ice cream maker, so I tried the freeze-and-stir method. Not identical, but still came out creamy and flavorful. Would make again.

  29. User avatar rich.landlord says:

    2 stars
Looks easy to make but my ice cream maker broke down midway. Any tips for doing it without one?

  30. User avatar karrie.anderson1978 says:

    3 stars
Kinda bland. I think it needs something else, like lemon zest or a stronger flavor.

    1. User avatar titus.williamson22 says:

      4 stars
I totally get what you’re saying! A little zest or maybe some mint could kick it up a notch. 💚

  31. User avatar Ma'randru-jo says:

    1 star
Is this even healthy? It’s yogurt but has tons of sugar and cookies… Just eat a regular ice cream!

    1. User avatar myles.sanford72 says:

      4 stars
I think it can be healthy in moderation! Yogurt has protein and probiotics, just control the sugar! 🍓

  32. User avatar tyler.hartmann59 says:

    2 stars
Ok but hear me out—could I just throw it all in the blender and freeze without the ice cream maker? Kinda dont have one lol

  33. User avatar carlena.davis says:

    2 stars
Why not just use ice cream? Yogurt is for breakfast!

  34. User avatar paris.wintheiser32 says:

    3 stars
Mine came out icy after freezing. I followed everything though… maybe my strawberries were too watery? Next time I’ll probably drain them or use thicker yogurt.

    1. 5 stars
That sounds exactly like the berries being watery (or the mix not thick enough before churning). Fresh strawberries can vary a LOT—next time I’d pat them dry after slicing and maybe add a teaspoon or two more sugar or use thicker/thicker-style yogurt. Draining them could help too!

    2. User avatar numbers.koss43 says:

      3 stars
hmm i dont think freezing 1-2 hours should make it icy if you churned right… did it maybe not churn long enough? also strawberries are kinda juicy so yeah, thicker yogurt like you said helps. i usually crush cookies super fine so they dont mess with texture.

  35. 4 stars
I used frozen strawberries because that’s what I had, and it still worked (just took longer to blend smooth). Not bad at all for a lazy day snack.

  36. User avatar w00d_ch0p says:

    2 stars
I followed it exactly and my ice cream maker choked on the texture… or maybe I froze it too long. After freezing it became kind of icy. Flavor was decent.

  37. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

    5 stars
Easy recipe and way fewer steps than normal ice cream. Also, blending strawberries makes it super smooth. 10/10 for effort-to-taste ratio.

  38. User avatar scott.okeefe47 says:

    4 stars
I made it last night and it was really tasty, but I needed way less sugar than the recipe calls for. Also I used low-fat yogurt and it still worked.

  39. User avatar shayne.johnston says:

    5 stars
This was sooo good! I loved the strawberry flavor, and the shortbread added a nice crunch. Will definitely make again!

  40. User avatar darell.bailey59 says:

    4 stars
I used low-fat yogurt and honestly it still tasted great. Next time I’ll add a bit more vanilla, but the texture was spot-on after churning.

    1. User avatar CTRLplusW says:

      5 stars
Love hearing that about the low-fat yogurt—this recipe is forgiving. I always worry about texture, so “spot-on after churning” is a win.

  41. User avatar felix.kunze says:

    5 stars
I didn’t have shortbread cookies, so I just crumbled up some chocolate cookies I had lying around. YUM!

  42. User avatar Peregrin Took says:

    3 stars
I’m not sure about the shortbread—mine sank to the bottom, and I had to stir. Flavor was okay though.

    1. User avatar earline.jenkins12 says:

      4 stars
Oh no—sinking sounds like the cookies weren’t getting folded in evenly. Next time, try chilling the churned base a bit before you fold, and fold just until combined (not too much stirring). Also make sure your shortbread is truly crushed, not big chunks.

    2. User avatar francesca.kassulke says:

      3 stars
I think it’s because shortbread is heavier and the mixture is too thin. I’d add a little less cookie next time or wait until it thickens in the machine. Mine sorta did the same thing but still tasted good though 😅

  43. User avatar alysia.mills29 says:

    3 stars
I thought it would be more creamy. The yogurt taste is overpowering.

  44. 5 stars
This turned out way better than I expected—tangy yogurt + sweet strawberries is such a good combo. The shortbread bits made it feel legit like dessert.

  45. 5 stars
My kid loved it! The shortbread bits gave it that “real dessert” texture. Will definitely repeat.

  46. User avatar Darlene Larkin says:

    4 stars
I made something similar once, but I didn’t fold the cookies last and it turned into mush. Doing it gently like this makes sense.

  47. User avatar van.cummerata says:

    3 stars
I followed it and my blender hated me. Had to stop and scrape the sides a few times. Flavor is nice, but prep takes longer than I expected.

    1. User avatar dillon.steuber says:

      4 stars
Ugh, I’m sorry 😅 I’ve had that happen when the berries are still a bit chunky. Next time try pulsing the strawberries first (or letting them sit 5–10 min with the sugar) before adding the yogurt—might save your blender.

    2. 4 stars
Mine did fine in a food processor but I agree—prep felt longer than expected. Like, why do the crushed cookies always take forever? Flavor was worth it tho!

  48. 2 stars
I don’t have an ice cream maker. Would whisking and freezing work? Like, I can’t believe I’m asking but this looks so good.

  49. User avatar carin.roob81 says:

    3 stars
It was okay, but I felt like it needed more sugar. The shortbread was a nice touch, though.

  50. User avatar tobias.greenfelder says:

    5 stars
This sounds dangerously good. I love anything strawberry + yogurt, and the shortbread bits make it feel like actual dessert instead of “healthy.”

    1. 5 stars
Yes!! Strawberry + yogurt is already a win, and adding the crushed shortbread sounds like the perfect “treat” vibe. Definitely trying this.

    2. 4 stars
Huh, frozen yogurt with shortbread… that’s gonna be dessert pretending to be healthy. I mean I’m not mad 😂 But do you really need to use sugar with the strawberries?

  51. 3 stars
I dont have an ice cream maker. Could I just put it in the freezer and stir every so often? Or is it gonna turn into strawberry yogurt popsicle flakes lol

  52. User avatar stuart.gibson2026 says:

    3 stars
Not sure about blending strawberries completely—mine always tastes a little tart unless I add more sugar. Also “1 cup shortbread cookies” depends on the brand, so it might need eyeballing.

  53. User avatar mercedez.mann3 says:

    4 stars
The instructions are super clear. I only wish it said how long to churn roughly—my ice cream maker varies so I stared at it like a maniac waiting for soft-serve.

  54. User avatar jamar.oconner says:

    4 stars
I used low-fat Greek yogurt and it still tasted creamy. I was worried it would be icy, but freezing for an hour helped. Would make again.

  55. User avatar ericka.dubuque says:

    2 stars
Sounds yummy but 1 cup of sugar? That can’t be right… unless you mean sweet strawberries. Also the vanilla amount seems small—maybe add more?

  56. User avatar loyd.morar1951 says:

    4 stars
Super easy recipe, but 1/4 cup sugar felt low for me. I had to taste and add a bit more. If you like tart yogurt, you’re fine.

  57. User avatar Brock Gutkowski says:

    3 stars
Is it supposed to be icy if you freeze it? I followed the steps but after 2 hours mine was a little hard. Maybe I should churn longer?

    1. User avatar dante.runte88 says:

      4 stars
Yeah, it should firm up more once it’s in the freezer. After 2 hours, “a little hard” sounds pretty normal. If you churned until soft-serve, you might’ve been a bit on the short side—try churning a bit longer next time, but don’t overdo it or it can get icy.

  58. User avatar Michael83 says:

    2 stars
1 cup shortbread sounds like a lot of crumbs—mine got a little heavy and salty. Maybe use less or pulse the cookies smoother?

    1. User avatar Summer Schaefer II says:

      5 stars
I totally get the crumb problem—shortbread can go from “cute crunch” to “carpet of crumbs” fast. Next time I’d start with 1/2 cup and add more if you like it.

  59. 3 stars
The ratio feels super random to me—1/4 cup sugar with a whole cup of strawberries?? I guess strawberries vary, but I’d start with less sugar. Lol.

    1. User avatar shala.collier says:

      3 stars
Maybe your strawberries were extra sweet? 🍓 I’ve made yogurt desserts with basically this ratio and it turned out good—more of a tangy frozen treat than a candy one.

    2. 4 stars
I totally get what you mean. 1/4 cup sugar sounds like it could be low or just-right depending on how sweet your strawberries are. I’ve used more tart berries and it definitely needed extra—start with 2-3 tbsp add-on next time.

  60. User avatar mitchell.pouros76 says:

    5 stars
Loved the texture! Folding in the crushed cookies at the end keeps it from turning into mush. Perfect for summer.
