Onions Baked with Rosemary and Cream

November 21, 2024

Onions baked with rosemary and cream is a luxurious yet simple side dish that transforms humble onions into something rich, savory, and deeply flavorful. Slow-baked until tender and caramelized, the onions develop a natural sweetness that pairs beautifully with the earthy aroma of rosemary and the indulgent richness of cream.

This dish starts with sweet or yellow onions, peeled and halved or thickly sliced. As they bake, the onions soften, mellowing in flavor and taking on a buttery texture. The addition of fresh rosemary infuses the dish with a fragrant, herbaceous note that perfectly complements the sweetness of the onions.

Heavy cream is poured over the onions before baking, creating a luscious sauce that thickens as it cooks. The cream absorbs the flavor of the onions and rosemary, turning golden and slightly bubbly around the edges. Some variations add a sprinkle of Parmesan or Gruyère on top for an extra layer of savory richness and a beautifully browned, crisp finish.

Onions baked with rosemary and cream is a versatile side dish that fits seamlessly into both holiday feasts and everyday meals. It pairs especially well with roasted meats like turkey, chicken, pork, or beef, offering a creamy contrast to crispy, roasted textures. It also complements vegetarian mains, lending depth and richness to the plate.

Despite its simplicity, this dish feels elegant and comforting — the kind of side that guests rave about and request again. It brings warmth and rustic charm to the table, with the bonus of filling the kitchen with the inviting aroma of rosemary and caramelizing onions.

For drinks, it pairs wonderfully with white wines like Chardonnay or Viognier, a dry cider, or even a crisp sparkling water with lemon.

Onions baked with rosemary and cream is proof that with just a few simple ingredients, you can create a side dish that feels both indulgent and timeless.

I dunno, I followed the recipe but my onions turned out all mushy. Maybe I left them in too long? Not sure if I’d try it again.

    1. 4 stars
Mushy onions can happen if they bake too long or at too high a temp. Maybe try checking them earlier next time!

  2. 3 stars
Why cover with foil? I never understand that part. I usually cover my food with a lid instead. Just an idea, heading off to the store to grab onions!

  3. 2 stars
Why would you put cream on onions?? Seems like a waste of good onions to me.

  4. User avatar toshiko.lebsack97 says:

    4 stars
Onions? Really? I thought this was gonna be a stew or something! But I can’t believe how good these taste! I might even bake my socks now just to try more flavors! 😂

    1. 5 stars
I never thought onions could taste so good! Your comment made me laugh 😊. Going to try this for sure!

  5. 5 stars
This recipe is just amazing! The flavor of the rosemary with the creamy onions is like heaven. I made it for a dinner party and everyone loved it! 😍

  6. 2 stars
Is 350°F really enough? I bake at like 400°F. Seems like it’d take forever to cook.

    1. User avatar demetrice.wehner25 says:

      5 stars
I’ve always baked onions at 350°F and they come out great! It’s not about the temperature, but the time. Just give it a shot! 😊

    2. 3 stars
I dunno man, 350°F seems kinda low. What if they just turn mushy? I prefer higher temps for better browning.

  7. User avatar Dwarven Centurion says:

    4 stars
Honestly, I was skeptical about baking onions in cream for only 60 minutes, but they came out tender. Texture was soft and creamy. Would pair great with steak or even roasted chicken.

  8. User avatar omer.towne14 says:

    5 stars
This was super easy to make and tasted heavenly! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  9. User avatar willie.leffler6 says:

This dish is absolutely delicious! The rosemary gives it such a nice flavor. My family loved it.

    1. User avatar trinidad.mohr81 says:

      5 stars
I totally agree! The rosemary really takes it to a whole new level. It’s my go-to recipe now! 😋

    2. 3 stars
Sounds good, but I’m not sure about the cream. I feel like it might be too rich. Anyone tried it without??

  10. User avatar david.bahringer5 says:

    4 stars
I tried this with 5 onions, half cream and half yogurt, tasted interesting. I think I liked it better that way!

  11. User avatar Leto Atreides says:

    1 star
Onion dish? Nah, I prefer my veggies steamed or raw. Pass.

    1. User avatar marcellus.corwin says:

      5 stars
You gotta try this! Baked onions are so good with that cream and rosemary. Trust me, they’re better than raw! 😋

  12. 2 stars
Could be just my oven but the cream reduced a lot and got a little greasy on top. I might use less cream next time.

    1. User avatar Super Saiyan Goku says:

      4 stars
That sounds frustrating—mine usually reduces fine, but I’ve noticed different ovens run hotter. Next time I’d try lowering the temp a bit or using a wider dish so the cream evaporates/reduces more evenly.

  13. 4 stars
Mine didn’t get “golden brown” after the second 30 minutes. Probably my onions were huge. Still tasted amazing though, creamy and tender.

  14. User avatar rochelle.howell1995 says:

    2 stars
Not sure if I did something wrong, but mine was kinda bland. The rosemary didn’t pop and the cream tasted a little flat. Maybe I under-salted?

  15. 5 stars
This is the kind of side that makes people stop scrolling. I served it with steak and everyone asked for the recipe.

  16. 4 stars
Mine didn’t get “golden brown” after the second 30 mins, but they were still really soft and creamy. Maybe my oven runs cool—next time I’ll broil for a couple minutes.

  17. 5 stars
This tastes like fancy onions from a steakhouse… my boyfriend said ‘don’t lose this recipe’.

    1. User avatar willie.schmeler1978 says:

      5 stars
Right?? It’s giving steakhouse vibes for real. I made it last night and the onions turned so sweet and creamy—like you could taste the rosemary without it being overpowering. Definitely keeping this one too!

  18. User avatar tricia.harvey says:

    3 stars
Baked onions? Sounds weird, but I gave it a shot. They came out soft but I couldn’t taste the rosemary much. A little bland.

  19. 5 stars
Simple yet delicious! I paired it with grilled chicken and wow!

  20. 2 stars
First time trying this and it was sooooo oily! Maybe I added too much oil? 🤔

  21. User avatar paige.white24 says:

    4 stars
This sounds fancy for onions, but I wasn’t sold at first. Turns out the rosemary + cream combo is legit. I served it with chicken and it worked well.

    1. User avatar pura.kuphal47 says:

      4 stars
I thought it would be kinda boring tbh, like just mushy onions. But the golden top after uncovering did make a difference. Next time I’ll maybe add a little garlic.

    2. 5 stars
Totally agree—people underestimate onions. The rosemary + cream is such a cozy combo. I tried it with pork chops and it was amazing.

  22. 1 star
    Onions? Really? No thanks. 😒

    1. User avatar wilfred.zboncak94 says:

      5 stars
Onions are great! They add so much flavor. You might want to give it a try! 😊

  23. 2 stars
This turned out kind of bland for me. I used fresh rosemary but maybe I chopped it too big? Also I should’ve salted more.

    1. User avatar earl.wilkinson13 says:

      3 stars
Bland? I think your rosemary size is the whole issue. I chop mine super small and it tastes way more herby. Fresh rosemary can be stronger too, so maybe yours was just not getting mixed in with the cream.

    2. 4 stars
Mine came out sweet and creamy, but I agree it can be a bit bland if the salt is light. I’d try closer to 3/4 tsp salt next time (especially since the onions hold flavor). Also rosemary should be finely chopped—big bits don’t really distribute.

  24. 4 stars
Very tasty, but I think my onions were either too big or the bake time needed a bit longer. Mine were tender, just not super golden.

  25. 2 stars
Like, how do you even bake onions? Just boil em, right? Confused.

  26. User avatar Storm Atronach says:

    4 stars
Yummy! But I think I put too much cream. Next time, I’ll use less.

  27. 2 stars
Could’ve used more seasoning. Also, I think 350°F is too low—maybe 400 would brown faster? Mine looked pale.

    1. User avatar francis.maggio says:

      4 stars
Yeah, I agree on the seasoning—mine tasted a bit flat too. I’d bump up the salt/pepper (and maybe a pinch of garlic powder) next time. Also 350°F does take a while to actually brown; I’ve had better luck closer to 375–400°F uncovered at the end so it caramelizes more. Thanks for the heads-up!

  28. User avatar nickie.bergnaum says:

    5 stars
This recipe is great! The cream really makes the onions melt in your mouth! 👌🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  29. User avatar Roman Holiday says:

    4 stars
Easy to make and tastes great! The rosemary really adds a nice touch.

  30. 3 stars
Can I use olive oil from the store? I got some really cheap one. 🌿

    1. User avatar Justin Casey Howells says:

      4 stars
Sure, but be careful! Cheap oils can change the flavor. Maybe try a little taste first? 👀

    2. User avatar Gandalf the Grey says:

      2 stars
I dunno, is that really a good idea? Olive oil is kinda important for the taste. Just sayin’.

  31. User avatar reginald.rice1963 says:

    3 stars
Can someone tell me what heavy cream is? Is it like normal cream? Thx!

  32. 3 stars
Great idea! But how many servings does this make? Seems kinda vague.

  33. User avatar santana.hahn3 says:

    3 stars
Ok so… I didn’t have fresh rosemary, only dried. I used like 1 tablespoon and it was okay, but the flavor was more muted. Still edible though.

    1. 3 stars
Wild, I think 1 tbsp dried is a lot 😅 I usually only do like 1 tsp for stuff like this. Maybe that’s why mine tasted “muted” too—like not enough aromatics or something? Still, glad it worked!

    2. User avatar lonnie.kuhic1964 says:

      5 stars
Thanks for sharing! Yeah, dried rosemary is definitely less punchy than fresh—sounds like you did it right. Next time you could try a bit less oil/cream or bump the rosemary slightly for a stronger flavor.

  34. User avatar Ford Prefect says:

    4 stars
I substituted almond milk for the cream and it was still good! 😋

  35. User avatar melany.mante36 says:

    2 stars
Okay but why cut sides up? I did top sides up by accident and it came out watery. Flavor was decent, but the texture was off.

    1. User avatar casey.lubowitz64 says:

      4 stars
Huh, I always do them cut-side down and mine aren’t watery 😅 But also 350°F for 30+30 might be different depending on onion size. Next time maybe cook longer til the cream reduces. Not sure why it says cut sides up tho.

    2. 5 stars
Cut sides up probably helps them brown and “seal” a bit—if they’re cut-side up, the cream can pool and keep the onions from getting that golden roast. When it’s watery, I’d try giving them a longer uncovered bake or using a deeper-ish dish so it doesn’t flood.

  36. User avatar gerry.cummings56 says:

    4 stars
Pretty simple, but I did 20 more minutes than the recipe said because my onions were huge. Still delicious though—creamy and not too salty.

  37. User avatar Del Jones says:

    5 stars
WOW! Just wow!! Who knew onions could taste this good! Definitely making again!

  38. User avatar lino.wisozk65 says:

    4 stars
I don’t even like rosemary, but this recipe changed my mind!

  39. User avatar Spider Worker says:

    3 stars
I dunno, it sounded good but the cream made it too heavy for me. I think next time I’ll use less cream or maybe milk.

  40. User avatar shon.mann1970 says:

    2 stars
These onions tasted bland to me, maybe I did something wrong. I added like a whole bag of cheese but still, not impressed.

    1. User avatar mariette.green1957 says:

      4 stars
Maybe the onions weren’t sweet enough? I usually caramelize mine before baking for extra flavor!

    2. User avatar claris.wolff1960 says:

      3 stars
Whole bag of cheese? That sounds excessive. You might have masked the flavor instead of enhancing it!

  41. 3 stars
Took way longer to bake than 60 mins! Maybe my oven is off? But they tasted fine in the end.

  42. User avatar dana.brown55 says:

  43. 5 stars
I tried this with yellow onions and it was delicious. Cut sides up is key—kept the cream pooling nicely. Would make again for sure.

  44. 4 stars
I used dried rosemary instead, still yum! But fresh would have been nice too.

Gonna pass on this one. Baked onions don’t sound appealing to me at all.

    1. User avatar Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule says:

      4 stars
I can see how baked onions might sound weird. But they taste so good once cooked! Give it a try, you might be surprised!

  48. 1 star
These onions tasted weird. I don’t get why people like them so much. 1 star!

  49. User avatar karena.okon1988 says:

    3 stars
I tried it but found it a bit too creamy for my taste. Might reduce the cream next time.

  50. User avatar nestor.haag1955 says:

    3 stars
Just okay. Needs more seasoning or something. Not bad but not great either.

  51. User avatar Slartibartfast says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but 1 cup of cream feels like a lot unless you’re doing it with smaller onions. I’d probably cut it down a bit.

  52. User avatar Lumberjack says:

    5 stars
This looks complex but was so easy! Thanks for the detailed instructions!

  53. User avatar Grìma Wormtongue says:

Why use cream? Onions are good enough on their own. #healthyliving

  54. 5 stars
I made this for dinner and it was gone in minutes! So creamy and flavorful!

  55. User avatar ilona.reichert says:

    5 stars
This turned out so creamy and sweet—almost like caramelized onions but without the extra sugar. The rosemary smell while it bakes is unreal.

Yumm! Perfect side for steak. Definitely a keeper! 🥩✨

Not sure about that… Creamy onions? Sounds a bit weird to me. 🤔

    2. 5 stars
Absolutely agree! These onions make everything better. It’s a win-win! 😍

  57. User avatar sandy.halvorson56 says:

    2 stars
I followed it exactly and it turned out bland. Maybe I need more rosemary or black pepper? The cream flavor was kinda heavy without enough seasoning.

  58. User avatar samuel.steuber says:

    2 stars
I used green onions instead and it didn’t turn out the same. Should’ve stuck with regular! Lesson learned.

  59. User avatar mai.macejkovic66 says:

Onions? Yuck! You can keep your fancy recipes. No thanks!

Super cozy side dish—those onions turn sweet and tender. I used dried rosemary (since I was out of fresh) and it still tasted great.

Ooo sounds perfect for cozy dinners. I love when onions get that sweet baked flavor 😍

I think I added too much salt. Next time, I’ll be more careful. But still good!

    1. User avatar Ms. Gene Franecki says:

Better too much salt than too little! Glad it still turned out good. Next time, just take it easy with the shaker!

    2. User avatar orval.grimes32 says:

      3 stars
Too much salt? That’s a bummer. I always think it’s those little things that ruin a dish. Maybe just be more careful next time, or try measuring it out?

  66. 4 stars
I followed it pretty much exactly, and the texture was perfect. Next time I might add a little garlic because I can never leave well enough alone.

  67. User avatar robin.nikolaus79 says:

    4 stars
Pretty good! I used thyme instead of rosemary, and it came out nice, too! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

    1. 5 stars
Sounds good! I’ve also tried it with garlic instead of rosemary, and it was great too. Can’t go wrong with onions! 🤤

Onions can be a bit weird for some people, but they do add a nice flavor! It’s all about taste. I love it! 🌟

  79. User avatar alonzo.murray68 says:

    4 stars
I followed the recipe pretty closely. Cream reduced nicely and the onions browned well after removing the foil. Next time I’ll use a little more rosemary though—mine felt slightly mild.

  80. 4 stars
I gotta say, my family loved it! Creamy and delicious. But, I think I overcooked the onions a bit.

  81. User avatar tiffanie.buckridge2006 says:

    2 stars
I love onions, but this felt like “baked onion soup” without the soup part. Also, 4 large onions is a lot—maybe halve it for a normal family.

  82. User avatar Oolon Colluphid says:

    3 stars
I love rosemary, but I think it could use more flavor. Maybe some garlic? 3 stars.

  83. User avatar aliza.abbott43 says:

This recipe is amazing! The rosemary really adds a nice flavor. Definitely a new favorite in my house!

    1. 5 stars
I agree! The rosemary makes such a difference 😍. I served this at a dinner party and everyone loved it!

    2. User avatar gilbert.larson says:

      2 stars
Really? I thought it was too rich with the cream. Maybe needs less next time.

  84. 4 stars
I made this last night and my family couldn’t get enough! Rosemary really makes a difference.

  85. 4 stars
I followed it pretty much exactly, but my onions took closer to 45 minutes the second half to get tender. Still tasty though.

  86. User avatar palmer.schroeder says:

    2 stars
Is this even healthy? So much cream! Why not just boil the onions? 🤔

  87. User avatar rosario.friesen0 says:

    3 stars
I’m not sure why everyone loves baking onions in cream. They were okay, but I felt like it needed garlic or something to make it pop. The rosemary was fine.

  88. User avatar hung.schaden94 says:

    2 stars
350°F is too low. I baked mine longer and it still looked pale. Also, 30+30 minutes seems random—would’ve preferred a clearer doneness cue. Won’t lie, I was disappointed.

  89. User avatar Lumberjack says:

    3 stars
Not sure about the amount of cream—mine got kinda watery in the dish. Flavor was good, but presentation wasn’t as “golden” as expected.

  90. User avatar dwana.schuster says:

    4 stars
Pretty good! I followed it mostly, but next time I’ll use a little less cream because it was a bit heavy for me. Still, the onions definitely got that golden top.

  91. 5 stars
Made this tonight and it came out so sweet and soft—those golden edges are everything. I added a pinch of garlic too and it worked perfectly.

So good. But i think 350F is too low i baked at 400 and it was faster, haha.

    1. User avatar lenard.lockman75 says:

      5 stars
400°F definitely sounds like it would brown quicker—your timing makes sense! I guess 350°F is just for slower caramelizing without drying out the onions. I’ll try a bump up next time.

I’m not really a fan of onions but this recipe is kinda good. Cream makes it better, I think.

    1. User avatar Super Saiyan Goten says:

      5 stars
I usually hate onions too, but this sounds delicious! The cream really does make everything better. I’m definitely gonna try this.

  94. 5 stars
This was incredible! So creamy and tasty! I never thought onions could taste this good!

    1. User avatar Gandalf the Grey says:

      5 stars
Totally agree! I was shocked at how delicious it was too. Who knew onions could be like this? Yum!

  95. 4 stars
I’m not gonna lie, I don’t trust recipes that are this few steps. 😅 But I tried it anyway and it actually worked. My onions were golden and tender, just remember to keep an eye on them.

  96. User avatar basementDweller says:

Made these for a potluck, and everyone loved them! Easy and fancy!

I dunno, baked onions? Sounds a bit weird to me. But who knows!

  98. User avatar russell.ankunding2024 says:

Did I do something wrong? Mine didn’t turn out right, the onions burned at the bottom. 1 star 😞

  99. User avatar marge.gutkowski85 says:

    5 stars
Wow, this looks delicious! 🧅❤️ Can’t wait to try it!

  100. User avatar Mr. Lora Will says:

    5 stars
Delicious! The cream makes the onions so rich and flavorful. Will make again for sure!

    1. 2 stars
I dunno, cream and onions? Seems kinda weird to me. I’d rather stick to my grilled onions.

    2. User avatar suspiciousCommentator says:

      5 stars
I tried this and it was soooo good! The cream is the secret ingredient, I swear! Perfect for a nice dinner.

  101. 2 stars
I think I forget to cover with foil. They burned on top. 😩

  102. User avatar ceola.daugherty2010 says:

Do I HAVE to use heavy cream? Can I just use milk? I don’t even like cream that much.

  103. User avatar felix.becker1965 says:

    4 stars
Pretty solid side dish—nice comfort-food vibes. I might reduce the cream next time, but the golden tops were perfect.

  104. User avatar alice.pagac says:

I don’t understand how anyone would want to eat onions like this. 🤢

  105. User avatar Barry Manilow says:

Yum! I added bacon bits too. Such a delightful dish! 5 stars!

    1. User avatar lance.purdy2023 says:

Bacon bits sound amazing! I never thought to add that. Definitely trying it next time!

    2. User avatar buddy.schmeler85 says:

      2 stars
I dunno, onions and bacon? Seems kinda weird. I prefer just the cream and rosemary, that’s already a lot.

  106. User avatar miles.stehr says:

    4 stars
Pretty good, but mine came out a little too soft and not as golden as the recipe says. Next time I’ll try baking uncovered a few extra minutes and maybe use thinner onion halves.

    1. 4 stars
Maybe your oven runs hot/cold? Also, thinner onion halves sounds right—more surface area = more browning. I’d also try placing them cut-side down the first half next time (unless it contradicts your dish).

    2. User avatar lupe.corwin16 says:

      5 stars
I’ve had the same issue—covering them for 30 min can keep them steamy and soft. Uncovering for longer (like 10–15 extra) helped me get that deeper golden color.

  107. User avatar hermine.kohler2016 says:

    3 stars
350°F seems a little low to me for caramelizing, so mine were more soft than golden. Flavor was good, just not the look I wanted.

  108. User avatar genny.raynor91 says:

    4 stars
I only had half-and-half and it still worked, just less rich. Would recommend for anyone trying to lighten it up.

  109. User avatar stormy.breitenberg81 says:

    2 stars
I didn’t like the texture of the onions. They came out too soft for my taste.

    1. User avatar digna.schmeler96 says:

      4 stars
I actually thought the texture was nice! Maybe you cooked them a bit too long?

    2. 5 stars
Too soft? I love them like that! It adds creaminess. Give them another try!

  110. 5 stars
Made this tonight and it was surprisingly fancy for how simple it is. The onions turned sweet and the rosemary smell is amazing. Used half-and-half since that’s what I had—still good!

    1. 5 stars
Love hearing that! The sweet onions + rosemary really does feel fancy without being complicated—glad the half-and-half worked out too.

    2. User avatar jessie.kautzer2008 says:

      4 stars
I tried something like this once and my onions didn’t really get sweet, so I was skeptical. But maybe I didn’t brown them enough. Yours sounds like it came out right—nice!

  111. User avatar rossie.walsh says:

    5 stars
These were sooo good! I served them with steak and everyone raved about it! 😍

    1. User avatar suspiciousCommentator says:

      2 stars
Really? Onions and cream? Not sure that’s a hit. Sounds kinda weird to me. 🤔

    2. User avatar greg.kshlerin63 says:

      5 stars
Wow, that sounds delish! I gotta try this with my next steak dinner. Seems like a perfect combo! 😋

  112. User avatar will.cummings37 says:

    3 stars
Tasted good, but my onions were still kind of firm after the full time. Next time I’ll slice thinner or bake a bit longer.

  113. 1 star
Onions?? Really?? My kids will never eat this. They hate onions…maybe if I hide them in somthin.

  114. 5 stars
Tried this tonight—so comforting. The onions turn sweet and silky, and the rosemary really wakes it up. I added a tiny pinch of nutmeg and it was next-level.

  115. User avatar Tricia McMillan says:

    5 stars
Add some cheese on top next bake! Makes it even better!

  116. User avatar quentin.wisoky says:

    5 stars
Yum! The rosemary is perfect. I added a tiny bit of garlic too and now it’s my new go-to side.

  117. User avatar mathWizard says:

    3 stars
The flavor is nice, but 1 cup of heavy cream felt a little much for my dish size. I’d reduce slightly or use a wider baking pan next time.

  118. 4 stars
Tried this but used thyme instead of rosemary because I didn’t have any. Still pretty good!

  119. User avatar nestor.collins says:

    3 stars
Bland at first bite for me—could be because my rosemary was weak. After adding a touch more salt and pepper at the end, it tasted way better.

  120. 1 star
Kinda meh. the cream pooled but onions tasted normal. Will not repeat.

  121. 3 stars
Seems a bit fancy for just onions, but I gave it a try. Not bad, but I prefer mine raw!

    1. 4 stars
I get where you’re coming from! Raw onions have that nice crunch, but the baking adds a different flavor. Still worth a try, right?

    2. User avatar annemarie.haley says:

      3 stars
Fancy? It’s just onions! But hey, everyone has different tastes. I still think cooked onions rock. Try adding some cheese next time!

  122. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

    2 stars
Wasn’t a fan of the creaminess. Maybe less cream next time? Not my cup of tea.

  123. 4 stars
This recipe seemed too simple. I mean, cooked onions with basic spices? But wow, it turned out really good! Who knew?

  124. User avatar Shadout Mapes says:

    3 stars
Too much cream if you ask me. The onions got all mushy and I couldn’t taste the rosemary! 3 stars.

    1. 4 stars
Too much cream? I dunno, that sounds delicious! I like my food rich. But I guess everyone’s taste is different.

    2. User avatar MAGA2024.Trumpster says:

      5 stars
I think the cream balances out the flavors! Just gotta make sure to use the right amount of rosemary. 5 stars from me!

  125. User avatar guy.ruecker says:

    3 stars
I followed it exactly, but the cream almost disappeared? Still tasty though—more like a creamy onion bake than a rich sauce. Any tips on getting more sauce?

  126. 2 stars
Why would I bake onions? Sounds weird. I just fry mine. Not sure about this one.

  127. User avatar bertram.kunze1957 says:

    3 stars
The rosemary was a little overpowering for me. Next time I’ll use less or chop it finer so it distributes better.

  128. User avatar Feral Falmer says:

    4 stars
So easy! I didn’t have rosemary so I used thyme instead. Still turned out great, yum!

  129. 5 stars
This is basically onion + cream… and it works? I didn’t expect the rosemary to come through so well. 10/10 with roasted chicken.

  130. User avatar mauricio.feil8 says:

    1 star
Onions?? Ew! Who eats onions like that? I’ll stick to my usual recipes. Not for me.

  131. User avatar keven.ebert50 says:

    4 stars
Not bad, but mine didn’t brown much after the second 30 minutes. I had to broil for a few minutes to get color. Flavor was great though.

  132. User avatar lamont.streich1968 says:

    2 stars
Too much cream for my taste. Should have read the recipe better…smh.

    1. User avatar gaston.funk24 says:

      4 stars
I totally get that! I prefer less cream too. Next time, maybe try using half the amount?

  133. User avatar lyle.pfeffer48 says:

    4 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about baking onions in cream, but the texture came out perfect. Next time I’ll sear the cut side first for even more browning.

  134. User avatar shelby.turcotte1952 says:

Onion + cream = magic, but my husband just doesn’t understand. He said it was like eating mushy clouds. 4 stars!

  135. User avatar Questular Rontok says:

    2 stars
I dunno, this just seems kinda basic. Can’t believe y’all liked it so much. 2/5.

  136. User avatar Miss Carl Kub says:

Made this tonight—so cozy. The onions come out sweet and creamy, and the rosemary smell is unreal. I used dried rosemary and still loved it.

  137. User avatar marcelino.mcglynn1982 says:

    3 stars
The flavor was good, but I think my onions were too big because they needed closer to 75 minutes to get golden. Also, I spilled cream once… oven smelled like dairy for a while 😅

  138. User avatar maritza.hilpert65 says:

    2 stars
I think the oven temp should be higher? 350°F feels low if you want real browning. I ended up baking closer to 70 minutes total.

    1. User avatar valentine.grady23 says:

      5 stars
Totally get that—350°F can be a bit gentle for browning, especially with thick onion halves. I’m glad yours turned out well closer to 70 minutes!

  139. User avatar kimiko.labadie22 says:

    3 stars
The prep is simple, but my onions kept releasing too much liquid. I ended up cooking longer uncovered until it looked thicker.

    1. User avatar liberal.hero says:

      5 stars
Yep, that happens—onions can “sweat” a lot even when they’re halved. Cooking uncovered longer to reduce the cream makes total sense. Next time, you could also try a slightly hotter/longer bake after removing the foil, or make sure the dish isn’t too crowded so the steam can escape.

  140. User avatar alden.crist2018 says:

    5 stars
These came out super tender and sweet—just the right amount of rosemary. The cream sauce turned glossy and rich. I served them with roast chicken and it felt fancy without being hard.

    1. 5 stars
Yes! I love how the rosemary stays fragrant without taking over. I also did roast chicken and it was a “fancy but easy” vibe—spot on.
