Deviled Eggs with Smoked Salmon

April 4, 2025

Deviled eggs are a timeless appetizer that never goes out of style, but when paired with smoked salmon, they become a luxurious treat perfect for any occasion. Whether you’re hosting a holiday gathering, a brunch, or a special dinner, Deviled Eggs with Smoked Salmon add an elegant and flavorful twist to the classic recipe. The combination of creamy egg yolk filling, tangy mustard, and the rich, smoky flavor of salmon creates a delightful bite that’s both savory and satisfying.

To make these deviled eggs, the hard-boiled egg whites are halved, and the yolks are carefully removed and mashed. The yolks are then mixed with mayonnaise, a touch of mustard, lemon juice, and seasoning to create a smooth, creamy filling. The richness of the filling pairs perfectly with the delicate smoked salmon, which is gently chopped and added on top of each egg for a burst of flavor. The salmon adds a subtle smokiness and a silky texture that elevates the eggs, making them feel more indulgent without overwhelming the other flavors.

For an added touch of color and flair, garnish each deviled egg with small slices of smoked salmon, fresh dill, and a sprinkle of capers. The dill complements the salmon perfectly, and the capers add a pop of briny flavor that cuts through the richness of the egg filling. These eggs are as visually stunning as they are delicious, with the deep pink of the salmon contrasting beautifully against the white and yellow of the egg.

Deviled Eggs with Smoked Salmon are a fantastic appetizer for those looking to add a little sophistication to their spread. They pair wonderfully with sparkling wine, champagne, or a crisp white wine, making them a perfect addition to a celebratory meal. The smooth texture of the filling combined with the smoky flavor of the salmon makes each bite a treat that will leave your guests coming back for more.

I don’t get why mustard is needed at all! Can’t you just skip it altogether? Seems a bit pointless to me.

    1. User avatar sherie.fadel30 says:

Recipe seems interesting but I don’t like salmon, can I replace it with tuna? 🤔

    1. 5 stars
I thought the same thing! But it actually brings a really nice flavor. Definitely a keeper!

    2. 2 stars
Fish in eggs? Sounds weird. I’m not sure I’ll try that. Maybe just stick to plain eggs.

  33. User avatar arie.durgan says:

    4 stars
I didn’t have dill but used parsley. Still awesome! Thanks for the recipe!

    1. User avatar ShanksOnePiece says:

      3 stars
I don’t know, but I’d think parsley would change the whole flavor. Dill is kinda essential, right? Just saying.

    2. User avatar candace.cruickshank30 says:

      5 stars
Glad to hear it worked out with parsley! It’s a great sub if you run out of dill. Gotta love flexibility in cooking! 😊

  34. User avatar alden.nicolas52 says:

    3 stars
I messed up the boiled eggs and they cracked. Still tasted alright tho.

    1. User avatar Rob A. Bank says:

      2 stars
If the eggs are cracked, how can they taste good? You should’ve been more careful!

    2. User avatar Lupe Olson says:

      4 stars
Cracked eggs happen to the best of us! At least they tasted good. 😄

  35. User avatar eusebio.crist10 says:

Looks fancy but way too much work for a simple dish. Just mix up the yolks and mayo! Who needs dill?

  36. User avatar tom.von1967 says:

    5 stars
This recipe is so good! Never thought to add salmon before.

  37. User avatar Draugr Thrall says:

    3 stars
I didn’t have any dill, so I used parsley instead. Still turned out pretty good, but not the same 😕. Might try again with the right ingredients.

  38. User avatar dante.cummings says:

    2 stars
I found the taste too fishy for my liking. Maybe less salmon next time?

  39. 5 stars
These deviled eggs were a hit at my party! Everyone loved the smoked salmon twist. Will make again!

  40. 2 stars
Too much mayo, I think. Made it kinda gooey. 😕

    1. User avatar federico.wilderman40 says:

      4 stars
I agree! I cut back on mayo too, it makes them less messy. 😬

  41. User avatar Arwen Evenstar says:

    2 stars
This recipe is missing something. Maybe pickle relish? Idk, something’s off. I won’t make these again.

  42. User avatar denny.nienow83 says:

    5 stars
These are the best deviled eggs I’ve ever made! The smoked salmon adds such a lovely flavor! Will be making them again for the party.

Followed the recipe exactly, but they kinda fell apart. Maybe I Overmixed? Who knows!

    1. User avatar Super Saiyan Blue Goku says:

      4 stars
Yeah, overmixing can make them too loose! Maybe try not mixing as much next time. They still sound yummy tho!

  44. 3 stars
Not bad, but I prefer the classic recipe. The salmon was a bit too fishy for my taste.

  45. User avatar kennith.goldner says:

    1 star
Smoked salmon? What is this, a restaurant? I just wanted regular deviled eggs. Disappointed.

  46. 3 stars
I tried this recipe but didn’t have smoked salmon, so I used canned tuna. It was okay, but I can imagine it would be better with salmon. Probably won’t try again.

  47. 5 stars
These are absolutely delicious! The smoked salmon gives a fancy touch. Will make these for my next brunch for sure!

  50. User avatar rebbecca.mcclure69 says:

    5 stars
Yum! I added some cayenne pepper for a kick, and now I’m addicted! Thanks for sharing!

    1. User avatar leigh.zulauf99 says:

      2 stars
I dunno about adding cayenne to eggs. Wouldn’t that ruin the taste? Seems risky.

    2. User avatar peter.armstrong1972 says:

      5 stars
Cayenne pepper? That’s a genius idea! I’ll try that next time for sure! Glad you liked it!

  51. User avatar gala.wintheiser69 says:

    4 stars
I mixed it up and used tuna instead of salmon. Still good, but I may have ruined a classic? 🤔

  52. 3 stars
These were ok, I prefer my eggs plain or with just mayo. I think like people who fancy up their food a bit much 🤷‍♂️

  53. User avatar anonymous_hacker says:

    3 stars
I don’t know about the salmon; I just like my deviled eggs classic with paprika. But if you like fish, this might be for you.

    1. 4 stars
I get that! Classic deviled eggs are the best, but smoked salmon adds a fancy touch. Maybe just try a small batch?

    2. User avatar mathWizard says:

      2 stars
Why would you ruin deviled eggs with fish? It’s just not right. Stick with paprika!
