Blueberry Bread

July 29, 2024

There’s something about a freshly baked Blueberry Bread that makes any day feel like a special occasion. Whether you’re enjoying it with your morning coffee, as a sweet afternoon snack, or served at a brunch gathering, this easy-to-make loaf is the ultimate comfort treat.

The beauty of blueberry loaf lies in its simplicity. With just a few basic ingredients – flour, sugar, eggs, butter, and of course, fresh or frozen blueberries, you can create a moist, flavorful cake that’s bursting with juicy fruit. The blueberries not only add a touch of natural sweetness, but they also provide bursts of flavor in every bite.

What makes this loaf so irresistible is its tender crumb, which is created by using a combination of butter and sour cream (or yogurt). These ingredients contribute to the moisture and richness of the cake, making it delightfully soft and melt-in-your-mouth. A dash of vanilla extract and a sprinkle of lemon zest can add an extra layer of flavor, complementing the blueberries beautifully.

To make your loaf, simply mix the dry ingredients together, then fold in the wet ingredients along with the blueberries. Be careful not to overmix the batter to ensure the loaf stays light and fluffy. Once it’s in the pan, bake until golden and fragrant. The result is a gorgeous loaf with a lightly golden crust and a soft, buttery interior.

For an extra indulgent touch, you can drizzle the top with a simple glaze made of powdered sugar and lemon juice, or sprinkle a handful of extra blueberries over the top before baking for a burst of color and flavor.

This Blueberry Loaf is perfect for any occasion, whether you’re looking for a sweet breakfast treat or a dessert to share with friends. With its moist texture and sweet flavor, it’s a recipe that will become a staple in your kitchen.

Looks good but I wonder if the bread is maybe too sweet? I prefer less sugar in my recipes.

  2. User avatar odelia.langworth says:

I tried it but it came out kinda dense. Not sure what I did wrong. Maybe I mixed it too much?

I don’t bake much, but this was easy. Best bread I ever made, even if I forgot to add the salt 😅!

Totally agree! Blueberries are the best! I made this yesterday, and it was a hit!

  6. User avatar Misae Suma says:

Doesn’t sound right to me. Can you really mix milk and blueberries? Sounds odd.

    1. User avatar coy.grant70 says:

      5 stars
Mixing milk and blueberries is actually common in baking! It adds moisture to the bread. You should try it!

    2. User avatar dwain.casper72 says:

      2 stars
Nah, I don’t think this will be good. Milk and blueberries? Sounds like a weird combination to me.

  7. 2 stars
Mmm… I got confused with cups and grams. Anyone can help?

  8. User avatar aaron.baumbach28 says:

    3 stars
I followed the recipe but it came out super dense. I think I might’ve mixed it too much. Any tips?

  9. User avatar marielle.graham says:

    4 stars
My kids loved it! I added some chocolate chips cause we were out of blueberries.

  10. User avatar scottie.daniel says:

I followed this recipe exactly, but my bread turned out flat. What did I do wrong? 😕

    1. User avatar jerold.stamm92 says:

      3 stars
Did you make sure to measure everything right? Sometimes too much liquid can make it flat.

    2. 4 stars
Sorry to hear that! Maybe your baking powder was old? It can lose its power over time. 😟

  11. User avatar alva.shanahan1984 says:

    2 stars
Uh, I did something wrong because mine didn’t rise at all. What did I do??

    1. User avatar kaitlin.kessler2018 says:

      4 stars
Maybe you forgot the baking powder? That could be why it didn’t rise. Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us!

  12. User avatar mathWizard says:

    2 stars
Is it really supposed to bake for 60 mins? Mine was burnt after 50. Be careful!

    1. 3 stars
60 mins seems long! I made it in 45 mins, and it was perfect. Maybe turn down the temp a bit?

    2. User avatar pauletta.schaden says:

      4 stars
I usually check mine around 50 mins too. Ovens can be different, so maybe yours runs hotter? Just keep an eye on it next time!

  13. User avatar Arletha Reinger says:

    5 stars
Perfect recipe! I added some lemon zest for a twist. So fresh and tasty!

  14. User avatar paula.nitzsche59 says:

Can I use almond milk instead of regular milk? Anyone tried that?

    1. User avatar earnest.powlowski says:

      5 stars
Yes, you can use almond milk! It should work fine. Just remember it might change the flavor a bit, but it’s still yummy!

  15. 4 stars
Does anyone know if I can use frozen blueberries? That’s all I got!

    1. User avatar elvis.gerlach1999 says:

      5 stars
Yes, frozen blueberries work great! Just make sure to not thaw them before adding.

This is the most failed recipe I’ve tried. It turned out more like a pancake than bread. 😭

    1. User avatar bradley.considine6 says:

      2 stars
A pancake?? How did that happen? Did you use a different flour or something? Idk, but I feel like it should’ve been bread.

    2. User avatar ariane.halvorson1996 says:

      4 stars
I’m sorry to hear that! Sometimes recipes don’t turn out the way we expect them. Maybe it was the baking time? I’ve had my share of fails too! 😅

  17. User avatar merle.kovacek85 says:

    4 stars
I didn’t have blueberries, so I used strawberries instead. It was still good but not the same.

  18. 2 stars
I followed the recipe exactly, but mine came out too dense. Maybe I mixed it too much? Not sure. Disappointed.

    1. User avatar emmett.spinka72 says:

      4 stars
Maybe you overmixed it? The batter should be just combined. Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us!

  19. User avatar brook.gusikowski19 says:

    2 stars
Easy recipe but I forgot the salt and it was a disaster. Next time I won’t forget!

  20. 3 stars
It turned out too sweet for my taste. I think less sugar would work better.

  21. User avatar adolfo.green says:

    4 stars
This isn’t bread, it’s more like a cake, which is fine I guess, but you should call it cake!

    1. 4 stars
