Banana Muffins

February 24, 2026

Banana Muffins are a classic baked treat loved for their soft texture, natural sweetness, and comforting flavor. Made with ripe bananas, these muffins are moist, tender, and filled with a rich aroma that makes them impossible to resist. They are perfect for breakfast, snacks, or a sweet moment with coffee or tea.

Ripe bananas are the heart of this recipe, providing sweetness and moisture that keep the muffins fluffy and flavorful. Their natural sugars create a delicate caramel like note as the muffins bake, giving them a warm, comforting taste. A touch of vanilla and a hint of cinnamon can be added to deepen the flavor, making each bite even more satisfying.

Banana Muffins are incredibly versatile. Chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or blueberries can be folded into the batter for extra texture and variety. A light streusel topping or a drizzle of glaze can turn them into a bakery style treat, while keeping them simple highlights the pure banana flavor.

These muffins are ideal for using overripe bananas that might otherwise go to waste, turning them into something delicious and rewarding. They are easy to prepare and bake beautifully, rising into soft, golden tops with a tender crumb inside. Once cooled, they stay moist for days when stored properly, making them perfect for meal prep or busy mornings.

Banana Muffins are loved by both children and adults, thanks to their gentle sweetness and familiar flavor. They are comforting without being heavy, making them suitable for any time of day.

With their soft texture, rich banana aroma, and comforting taste, Banana Muffins are a timeless favorite. Each bite delivers warmth, sweetness, and a sense of homemade goodness that makes them one of the most beloved muffin varieties in any kitchen.

I made these with my kids. They were a hit! Even my picky eater devoured them!

  2. 3 stars
They turned out okay for me but a bit too sweet. Maybe lessen the sugar next time.

I totally agree! I found them way sweet too. Less sugar makes sense. Thumbs up!

Why do people keep saying it’s too sweet? Just eat less if you don’t like it! These are bomb!

  3. User avatar juana.dooley97 says:

    4 stars
Great recipe, but are you sure 1/3 cup of butter is right? Seems like a lot.

Really easy to make and my house smells amazing. Will make again!

I use coconut oil instead of butter and they came out just fine! 🌴😋

I forgot the salt and they still turned out fine, just a tad bland.

Bannana muffins? I thought this was for paredes. Confused 😕.

NNNNNNNNNOOOO, this did not work at all! My muffins burnt!

    1. User avatar palmer.stamm says:

      4 stars
Sorry to hear that! Maybe your oven runs hot? I always check with a thermometer now. Don’t give up!

    2. User avatar alvaro.rosenbaum74 says:

Burnt muffins? Sounds like a classic misstep. You might wanna watch them next time or reduce the baking time. Just saying!

  10. User avatar bradley.metz51 says:

Meh, tasted like cardboard. Maybe I did sumtin wrong.

    1. User avatar hipolito.rempel says:

      4 stars
Maybe you overmixed it? That can make it dry, and dry muffins ain’t tasty! Try again with less mixing next time.

    2. 3 stars
I thought they were yummy! You musta done somethin wrong, I guess. Can’t taste like cardboard if you follow the recipe.

  11. User avatar pia.rau54 says:

    5 stars
These muffins are amazing! So moist and delicious. I added some chocolate chips, and they were a hit!

  12. 3 stars
I followed it exactly, but mine turned out kinda dense. Not bad, just not fluffy. Maybe I overmixed after adding the flour?

    1. User avatar tricia.waters1957 says:

      5 stars
Yeah, that sounds like an overmixing issue. Since you only want the flour “just incorporated,” mixing again after it disappears can make banana muffins denser. Next time, stir gently (like 15–25 strokes) and stop the moment there are no dry streaks. Also make sure your baking soda isn’t old—expired leavening can also lead to that heavy texture.

  13. User avatar taren.bayer78 says:

    3 stars
I don’t know, they turned out kinda flat for me. I followed the recipe to the letter. Maybe my bananas were too ripe?

    1. User avatar joe.schneider says:

      4 stars
That happened to me too! I think my baking soda might’ve been old. Check the date on it, could be the issue!

    2. User avatar bennie.huel55 says:

      3 stars
Maybe try using less banana next time? I know they say it’s better with ripe ones, but too many can make it weird.

  14. 2 stars
Y u put so much sugar in muffins? We’re trying to be healthy! Can I cut the sugar in half?

    1. User avatar molly.jenkins says:

      4 stars
You can totally cut the sugar down! But just a heads up, they might not taste as sweet. It’s all about finding the balance, ya know?

  15. User avatar dia.mayert says:

    2 stars
Not the best I’ve made. They came out too dense for my taste.

  16. User avatar dario.bartoletti2010 says:

Love it!! My kids devoured them. Super easy, and the banana smell while baking is like instant comfort.

    1. 4 stars
I tried these but my batter was super thick? Maybe I mashed the bananas wrong. Still tasted good though, and mine took like 25 min instead of 20. Would definitely make again!

    2. User avatar vernon.kreiger1952 says:

      5 stars
Yes!! The banana smell is seriously the best part. Glad your kids loved them—making muffins you don’t have to fight for is a win 😂

  17. User avatar halflife4 says:

    4 stars
Easy recipe! I added chocolate chips, yum!

  18. 1 star
Ok, but like, what do I do if my oven doesn’t heat up to 350? Can I just wing it?

    1. 4 stars
You could try baking at a slightly lower temp, but it might take longer. Just keep an eye on them!

    2. 3 stars
Winging it sounds risky! Maybe you can check the oven thermostat? Better to know for sure.

  19. 4 stars
Pretty good basic muffin. The sweetness felt a little low for me, so next time I’ll bump the sugar slightly. Texture was soft though.

Banana muffin? Who wudda thought?? Great for breakfast! 😋

  21. User avatar emelia.will70 says:

Great recipe for a lazy afternoon! My kids had a blast helping out. Thanks for sharing!

  22. User avatar Barliman Butterbur says:

    2 stars
I think 1/3 cup butter is way too much for muffins like this—mine were greasy at the bottom. Flavor was fine, but the texture was off for me.

  23. 4 stars
Muffins taste good, but wish they had nuts! Maybe next time I’ll throw some walnuts in.

    1. User avatar MrsLucyG says:

      5 stars
That’s a great idea! Nuts would add a nice crunch. I usually toss in pecans myself.

  24. 2 stars
Confusing recipe. I mixed the sugar and butter together and then the egg, but it didn’t say!

  25. 5 stars
These muffins are amazing! I make them every week!

    1. User avatar delmer.wolff says:

      3 stars
Really? I tried them, but they were too sweet for my taste. Maybe less sugar next time?

    2. User avatar Lumberjack says:

  27. 5 stars
Banana muffins are my fave! Made these for a brunch and everyone loved em! Will definitely make again.

  28. 5 stars
Bananas and muffins, together at last! Great combo! 👏

  29. User avatar russell.walker37 says:

    3 stars
Why do you add butter when bananas are already so moist?

    1. 5 stars
Butter adds flavor and richness! Plus, it helps create that nice texture. Trust the process!

  30. User avatar Sand-Dial says:

    4 stars
This recipe is illegal! Flour might be poison! (Just kidding, it’s fine)

  31. User avatar jonas.mitchell0 says:

    2 stars
Meh. I’m not convinced baking soda alone does the magic here. Mine tasted a bit flat and didn’t rise much. Could use baking powder too?

  32. User avatar steve_maga says:

    5 stars
These came out super moist and banana-y! I added a handful of walnuts and they still baked perfectly in 20 minutes. Will make again.

    1. User avatar fernande.breitenberg says:

      5 stars
Awesome! The banana-to-butter ratio in this one really shines—glad they stayed moist even with walnuts. I’m making these again too 😄
