Baileys Chocolate Mousse is a luxurious dessert that combines the rich, velvety texture of chocolate with the smooth, creamy flavor of Baileys Irish Cream. It’s indulgent yet airy, making it the perfect treat for special occasions, dinner parties, or a cozy evening when you want something elegant and decadent.
The base of this mousse is high-quality dark or semi-sweet chocolate, melted gently to preserve its deep, intense flavor. Whipped cream is folded in carefully to create a light, airy texture that melts in your mouth. The addition of Baileys brings a subtle warmth and complexity, adding hints of cream, whiskey, and cocoa that elevate the dessert to something truly special.
Preparation is simple but effective. The chocolate is combined with a small amount of warm Baileys or homemade Baileys, and whipped egg whites or cream to achieve a fluffy consistency. Folding must be gentle to maintain the mousse’s airy structure while ensuring the chocolate and liqueur are evenly incorporated. The result is a glossy, smooth dessert that holds its shape beautifully in serving glasses or bowls.
Baileys Chocolate Mousse can be served on its own or garnished for extra flair. A dollop of whipped cream, shaved chocolate, or a sprinkle of cocoa powder enhances the presentation and adds layers of flavor. For a touch of crunch, crushed biscotti, chocolate-covered espresso beans, or toasted nuts work perfectly.
This dessert is as versatile as it is indulgent. It can be made ahead of time, allowing the flavors to meld and the mousse to set in the refrigerator. Each spoonful is rich yet light, with the creamy Baileys flavor shining through alongside the chocolate’s depth.
Baileys Chocolate Mousse proves that elegance doesn’t have to be complicated. Its combination of creamy texture, rich chocolate, and liqueur-infused flavor creates a dessert that is both decadent and memorable. Every bite feels indulgent, making it a perfect finale to any meal.

Honestly, kinda bland. Needs more flavor. I added some vanilla.
I found it a bit too sweet for my taste. Maybe less sugar next time?
Yum! I made this for a party and it was a hit!
I dunno… isn’t it too sweet with all that cream and chocolate? I prefer more bitter desserts. 🤔
That sounds amazing! I can’t wait to try it for my next gathering. Thanks for sharing!
Mousse is supposed to be fluffy, right? This was more like pudding. 🤷♂️
I had the same issue! I think I overmixed mine. 😩 Mousse should have some air in it for sure.
Is it really mousse if there’s alcohol in it? Just asking.
I don’t know if I’d call it mousse, seems kinda weird to me. Chocolate’s good tho!
Yes, it’s still mousse! The alcohol just adds flavor. No rules on that!
Super easy to make! My kids loved it. Will definitely try again!
This mousse is divine! The Baileys adds a nice touch.
Great recipe but my chocolate seized up. Any tips?
Oh no! Make sure the chocolate doesn’t get too hot, or it can seize. Try adding a little butter or oil next time while melting.
This turned out so rich and smooth! I was worried about the chocolate seizing, but letting it cool a bit helped a lot. The Baileys flavor is perfect—not too boozy.
Could use more instructions on whipping the cream—mine got a bit grainy. I think I overmixed. Otherwise, it’s a cute dessert.
I tried this and it turned out like chocolate pudding? Still edible, just not mousse-y. Maybe my folding was too aggressive.
Meh. Too rich for me. Also I didn’t have Baileys so I used something else and it tasted kinda weird.
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about no-bake mousse with just chocolate + cream + Baileys… but it actually worked. Smooth and creamy!
Baileys + chocolate is basically cheating. The texture was light and creamy, not too sweet. I used less powdered sugar and it was perfect.
Meh… tasted okay but I wanted more chocolate punch. Also I got impatient and didn’t refrigerate long enough, so it kinda melted on me.
I’m not sure about using only 100g chocolate for a whole cup of cream. It was tasty, but I wanted it thicker and more chocolatey.
That makes sense—100g for a whole cup of cream can end up more “moussey” than super chocolate-forward. If you want it thicker and darker, try adding another 25–50g chocolate (just melt and fold the same way).
Not gonna lie, I thought it would be too boozy. But once it chilled, the flavor mellowed a lot. Very balanced.
Eh. I followed it exactly and still felt kinda bland. Maybe my Baileys was old? Or I should add more sugar? Idk.
The instructions say “soft peaks,” but mine stayed liquid until I whipped longer. After chilling the flavor really came together. Would make again.
Yep, I had the same issue—“soft peaks” is vague. Mine didn’t firm up until I went longer and made sure the cream was really cold. Chilling makes it taste way more chocolatey too. Definitely making again!
I think I overwhipped, it got kind of thick and grainy (maybe the chocolate cooled too much?) 😅 Still ate it though. Next time I’ll watch the peaks more carefully and chill it longer like you said.
I followed the steps exactly and it still looked grainy. Maybe my chocolate wasn’t finely chopped enough? Also, my Baileys separated a bit, but I saved it by folding gently.
Is 100 grams of chocolate only? That seems kinda low for how rich it tastes. I guess the cream makes up for it, but I’d try more next time.
2 hours is not enough for my fridge, i think. After 4 hours it set better. Also, I chopped the chocolate too big at first, but microwaving fixed it.
2 hours works for me only if my fridge is really cold. If it’s not, it’s still a little pudding-like 😅
I agree—2 hours doesn’t seem long enough. Mine always firms up way better after closer to 4 hours, too.
This is dangerously easy. I let the chocolate cool just a bit and it turned out silky. The Baileys flavor is spot on—dessert glasses disappeared fast.
2 hours is NOT enough for me. I left it overnight and it was perfect—thicker and cleaner in texture. Next time I’ll plan ahead.
Hmm, I did only 2 hours and mine was kinda like a soft pudding… not bad, but not mousse-y. So I believe you—maybe my fridge is colder than yours? 🤷♀️
Overnight makes sense! I’ve noticed chocolate-based desserts get that thicker, “cleaner” set once they’ve had more time to chill. I’ll be planning ahead too next time.
Why “simmering water” when microwave is easier? I did microwave and it worked, so I guess the method isn’t that strict.
I followed it pretty closely, but my chocolate seized a little when I melted it. Still tasted great though. Maybe I needed to cool the chocolate more first.
What a fun little fancy thing to make. I piped it into glasses and it looked like a restaurant dessert. My guests asked for the recipe.
This looks insanely good. I made it for a dinner and everyone kept going back for “one more bite.” The 2 hours chill is key—don’t rush it!
Pretty good dessert, but my mousse felt a little too soft after 2 hours. I think I under-whipped the cream or my chocolate cooled too fast. Still tasty though!
I tried it but my mousse got a little runny, I think I didn’t fold gently enough. Still tasted great though, like a fancy pudding.
