Sweet and Spicy Pork

September 19, 2023

If you love bold flavors that dance between heat and sweetness, Sweet and Spicy Pork is a dish that deserves a place in your regular meal rotation. It’s the perfect combination of tender, juicy pork and a mouthwatering glaze that hits all the right notes – savory, sweet, tangy, and just the right amount of spicy.

What makes this dish so satisfying is the contrast of flavors and textures. The pork, whether it’s in the form of chops, tenderloin, or stir-fry slices, is cooked until golden and slightly crispy on the edges, while still remaining tender inside. The glaze – usually a blend of ingredients like honey or brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, chili flakes, or sriracha – coats the meat beautifully and creates a sticky, caramelized finish that’s hard to resist.

Sweet and Spicy Pork is also incredibly versatile. You can serve it with steamed rice, noodles, or lettuce wraps for a lighter option. Add stir-fried vegetables or a crisp cabbage slaw on the side for a complete and colorful meal. It works just as well for a quick weeknight dinner as it does for entertaining guests, thanks to its crowd-pleasing flavor.

This dish is a great entry point for home cooks looking to explore sweet-savory fusion dishes. With minimal prep and a few pantry staples, you can achieve restaurant-quality flavor in your own kitchen. Adjust the heat level to suit your taste, go mild with just a hint of chili, or turn it up for those who love fiery flavors.

Whether you’re cooking for yourself or a table full of hungry friends, Sweet and Spicy Pork is a flavorful, satisfying dish that’s sure to become a favorite. One bite, and you’ll see why this combination never goes out of style.

Is Sriracha really spicy? I can’t handle spice! I made it for my kids and they didn’t even eat it. 😞

Sriracha can be spicy, but it’s not the hottest! Maybe try using less or omit it next time? I’m sure your kids will love it. 😊

    2. 3 stars
I think Sriracha is too much for kids too! You could just use ketchup, they might like it better. 🤷‍♂️

Easy to make! I used chicken instead of pork, and it still turned out great.

Chicken?? I thought this was a pork recipe. Isn’t that gonna change the taste a lot? 🤔

I love that you used chicken! It’s my go-to for everything. Can’t wait to try this now!

I’m skeptical about pork tenderloin being “thin slices” without some extra prep. Still, the flavors are real—soy-honey-sriracha is a winner.

  6. 5 stars
My family loved it! Even the picky eaters ate it!

This was amazing! The sweet and spice combination is on point.

Sriracha should be banned. Too hot, ruined the dish for me.

Pork? I thought this was a chicken recipe? Confused! -1 star for that.

I don’t know, it was too sweet for my taste. More spice would be better.

    1. 4 stars
I agree! It was way too sweet for me too. Some chili flakes would have been perfect!

I followed it pretty much exactly, except I used pork chops instead of tenderloin and it was drier. Might be user error, but tenderloin seems key.

  15. 3 stars
I dunno… the sauce seemed too sweet for my taste. Maybe less honey next time? Not really my thing tbh.

  16. User avatar carla.wyman says:

Wow, the sauce combo is legit. I marinated closer to an hour and the pork stayed super tender. Next time I might add a little extra garlic for more punch.

Nice recipe but too many steps. I got confused.

  18. User avatar cleveland.gottlieb says:

Disagree—Sriracha isn’t real spice unless you double it 😅 Also needs more veggies. But I ate it all so I guess it’s good.

  19. 3 stars
Good recipe, but I would suggest less honey. Just a liitle bit too sweet for my liking. Not bad tho.

    1. User avatar daniel.predovic says:

      4 stars
I agree! I thought it was a bit too sweet too. Maybe just 1 tbsp would work better?

    2. 5 stars
Nah, I think the honey is perfect! Brings out the flavor of the pork!

So easy to make! I added some bell peppers for extra crunch. 🌶️
