Tiramisu Chia Pudding

October 30, 2024

Tiramisu Chia Pudding is a delicious, healthier twist on the classic Italian dessert. It combines the rich flavors of coffee, cocoa, and vanilla with the nutritional benefits of chia seeds, creating a treat that feels indulgent but is packed with goodness. Perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a snack, this layered pudding offers the creamy texture and bold flavors of tiramisu without the heaviness of traditional recipes.

The base of this chia pudding starts with chia seeds soaked in a mixture of plant-based milk, a splash of vanilla, and a bit of sweetener. As the seeds absorb the liquid, they transform into a thick, creamy pudding that serves as the perfect canvas for layering. A touch of espresso or strong brewed coffee is added to part of the mixture, bringing in that signature tiramisu flavor. The combination of creamy vanilla layers and coffee-infused layers creates the perfect contrast in every bite.

To mimic the mascarpone element found in traditional tiramisu, a creamy layer is made using dairy-free yogurt, coconut cream, or a mixture of yogurt and nut butter. This layer adds richness and balances the coffee flavor beautifully. Once the pudding and cream layers are prepared, they are alternately spooned into jars or glasses, giving it that elegant, layered tiramisu look.

A generous dusting of cocoa powder on top is essential, adding a slightly bitter contrast that complements the sweetness of the pudding. For an extra treat, you can top it with shaved dark chocolate, a sprinkle of crushed nuts, or even a splash of coffee liqueur for a more decadent version.

Tiramisu Chia Pudding is not only delicious but also nutritious. Chia seeds are packed with fiber, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids, making this dessert both satisfying and good for you. It’s the perfect make-ahead option since it needs time to set, making it great for meal prep. Whether enjoyed as a wholesome breakfast or a guilt-free dessert, this pudding delivers on both flavor and texture.

Not for me, the texture is weird. Should’ve known chia seeds would be slimy.

  12. 4 stars
I love chia pudding but I’m not sure about the coffee. Can I skip it?

      5 stars
You can totally skip the coffee! It’ll still be delicious without it. Chia pudding is versatile!

    2. User avatar mitsue.kuhic says:

      3 stars

  13. User avatar robin.steuber73 says:

Chia pudding is just not my thing. The flavors are fine but still kinda gooey. :/

    1. User avatar jesse.haley says:

      3 stars
I get what you mean! I also find chia pudding a bit strange. It’s too gooey for me too. Maybe you could try a different dessert?

    2. User avatar leslie.upton2012 says:

      4 stars
But it’s not that gooey! You just need to mix it well, and maybe add more flavoring? Tiramisu should taste better! 😋

  16. User avatar lacy.reichel90 says:

    4 stars
I’ve never heard of this before! Is it healthy? My friend said it’s super good for you.

  17. User avatar launa.mante49 says:

Um, I dunno about chia seeds. They kinda gross me out. Not sure if this is a good idea.

  18. 3 stars
Seriously tho, where do you even get mascarpone cheese? Can’t find it anywhere!

  19. User avatar deloise.lueilwitz says:

Quick and easy! My kids loved it. I skipped the coffee since they are young!

  23. 3 stars
Not bad, but I think it needs more sweetness. Next time I’ll add more maple syrup. Also, chia seeds were kinda odd for me.

  24. User avatar jacob.moore12 says:

    5 stars
I messed up the coffee part and used espresso instead, but it came out great anyway. Little bit of a kick! ☕️

    1. 3 stars
I don’t think that’s how you’re supposed to make it, but hey, if it tastes good, then why not! 🤷‍♂️

  36. User avatar deandre.emmerich says:

    2 stars
I dunno, I expected it to taste more like tiramisu. It was okay, but not what I thought. 🙁

Chia seeds are the devil. I can’t understand how anyone can eat them. I prefer real pudding, thank you very much.

  40. User avatar Quickbeam says:

    2 stars
I followed the recipe but used coconut milk instead. It didn’t taste like tiramisu at all, kinda disappointed.

  41. User avatar Feral Falmer says:

    3 stars
I tried this, but the coffee flavor wasn’t strong enough for me. I actually added more coffee but it still wasn’t perfect. Disappointed.

    1. User avatar renay.macejkovic1981 says:

      4 stars
I get it! Sometimes coffee just doesn’t come through like we want. Have you tried using espresso instead of instant coffee? It might pack more punch!

  42. User avatar fritz.gutkowski1952 says:

    1 star
Sounds like a mess to make. Chia seeds all over the place. No thanks.

    1. User avatar Barliman Butterbur says:

      2 stars
Yeah, sounds complicated for just a pudding. Can’t believe we gotta let it sit overnight. No thanks!

    2. User avatar Jacques Strap says:

      4 stars
I don’t think it’s messy at all! Chia seeds are easy to work with, just be careful when stirring. Plus, the taste is worth it! 😋

  43. User avatar Quickbeam says:

    2 stars
Uh, I don’t get it. Why would you use chia seeds? Tiramisu is supposed to be creamy and rich, not crunchy.

  44. User avatar royce.walter17 says:

    3 stars
Looks cool but who has time for overnight chilling? Can’t I just eat it straight away?

  45. User avatar Spider Worker says:

    4 stars
Best dessert ever! But I think a bit more cocoa on top would make it perfect. 😋

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree! More cocoa would be divine! 🤤

    2. 2 stars
Um, I don’t know about that… ain’t too much cocoa bad for ya? 🤔

  46. User avatar rodger.turcotte69 says:

    3 stars
not really tiramisu? i expected more flavor. just tasted like pudding :/

    1. User avatar Frankie and Benjy says:

      4 stars
I get your point! It’s not the traditional tiramisu for sure, but I think it’s still a pretty tasty twist. Maybe add more coffee next time?

    2. User avatar rogelio.mayer49 says:

      2 stars
But it says it’s a pudding! How can it taste like real tiramisu? That’s just misleading. I wouldn’t try it.

  47. 2 stars
Didn’t really taste like tiramisu to me… more like chia pudding. I give it a 2.
