This Summer Berry and Burrata Salad is perfect for light lunches, dinner sides, or even as a starter at your next dinner party. The combination of creamy burrata, sweet berries, and balsamic glaze creates a harmonious and indulgent flavor profile that’s perfect for those hot summer days when you crave something light, flavorful, and easy to prepare.

What is burrata cheese?

Burrata is a fresh Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream. It has a solid outer shell of mozzarella, while the inside is filled with soft, creamy stracciatella and cream.

How is burrata different from mozzarella?

While both are made from cow’s milk and look similar on the outside, burrata has a creamy, rich center that mozzarella lacks. Think of burrata as mozzarella with a luxurious surprise inside.

How should I serve burrata?

Burrata is best served fresh and at room temperature. Try it with tomatoes, crusty bread, fresh basil, olive oil, or even on pizza and pasta.

Does burrata need to be cooked?

No, burrata is meant to be enjoyed fresh. While you can place it on warm dishes like pizza or pasta, it should be added just before serving to preserve its creamy center.

How long does burrata last after opening?

Once opened, burrata should be consumed within 1–2 days. Keep it refrigerated in its liquid if possible, and always check for freshness before eating.

Can I freeze burrata?

Freezing is not recommended, as it can ruin the texture and make the creamy center grainy. Burrata is best enjoyed fresh.

What wines pair well with burrata?

Light whites like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio, or sparkling wines like Prosecco, pair beautifully with burrata’s creamy, delicate flavor.

    2. User avatar bula.aufderhar says:

      4 stars
Burrata is kinda a fancy version of mozzarella! It’s creamier. But hey, if mozzarella worked for you, that’s cool. Just a different take!

Great for summer, but what if I used feta instead of burrata? Could that work?

This looks insanely fresh. The burrata + berries + balsamic combo is such a win—especially with basil on top. I’m making this for my next brunch.

    1. 5 stars
Yesss—this combo sounds dangerously good. Burrata is already creamy, and the balsamic/berries sweet-tang is perfect. Making this for brunch too!

    2. User avatar Ra'zhinda says:

      4 stars
Looks tasty, but I’m confused—balsamic glaze is kinda thick. Do you mix it with olive oil or just drizzle both separately? Also “balsamic glaze” vs regular balsamic… which one?

  21. User avatar jeanelle.koch73 says:

    5 stars
Tried this recipe and loved it! Perfect for summer parties! 😍

  22. User avatar leona.hoppe53 says:

  23. User avatar zack.brown2023 says:

    3 stars
Not gonna lie, $/time wise I expected more wow factor. It’s good, but kinda feels like “fancy grocery store salad” unless you really nail the berries.

  24. 2 stars
Burrata is expensive where I live, so I used mozzarella. Honestly it wasn’t the same at all—more like “salad” and less like “wow.”

    1. 2 stars
Mozzarella works fine if you let it sit out a bit? Also maybe you used too much balsamic—burrata should be the star. I dunno, mine is always “wow” when I do it.

    2. 4 stars
Ugh I feel you—burrata can be ridiculously pricey. Mozzarella won’t give the same creamy center, so “salad vibes” makes sense. Still, I bet the berries + balsamic combo was really tasty!

  25. User avatar suspiciousCommentator says:

    5 stars
This salad is so refreshing! I made it for a picnic and everyone loved it!

  26. User avatar jon.stracke says:

    3 stars
Simple recipe but way too many berries for one plate.

  27. 4 stars
Simple, quick, and healthy! My kids even ate it, which is rare. 😊

  28. 3 stars
The instructions are good, but “1 handful basil” is so vague lol. Still turned out tasty though. Next time I’ll measure it.

  29. User avatar arica.mohr22 says:

    2 stars
It’s basically just fruit with cheese. Yawn. Not for me.

  30. User avatar dennis.oconnell25 says:

    2 stars
Not my favorite… The berries and cheese just didn’t work together for me. Maybe it’s just personal.

    1. User avatar Spriggan Earth Mother says:

      4 stars
I totally get that! Some flavor combinations just don’t click for everyone. Have you tried it with different cheese?

  31. User avatar donn.becker6 says:

    3 stars
“to taste salt and black pepper” is vague lol. I’m not a chef. But I still enjoyed it. Would be better if it told me like how much salt?

  32. 3 stars
I don’t know, I thought it would be more flavorful. The burrata is nice but kinda bland.

    1. User avatar Dro'marash says:

      2 stars
Bland? Really? I thought it was delish! Maybe you just need more seasoning. Gotta have flavor, ya know?

    2. User avatar amparo.swift says:

      4 stars
I totally get what you mean! Burrata can sometimes be a bit plain. Maybe you could try adding some nuts or a bit of honey for extra flavor?

  33. User avatar carli.walsh88 says:

    4 stars
Um, I totally forgot to get basil. Still turned out great, just saying. 🙂

  34. User avatar ArabianNights says:

    3 stars
Too many berries for my taste, what about vegetables? Why do you always have to mix fruits in salads?

    1. User avatar melda.kihn says:

      4 stars
I get your point! Vegetables can be super tasty in salads. You can totally customize this recipe with spinach or arugula instead.

  35. User avatar sachiko.schuster says:

    5 stars
This looks insanely fresh. Burrata with berries is such a good combo, and the balsamic drizzle probably ties it all together perfectly. Definitely making this for a summer lunch.

    1. User avatar Eccentrica Gallumbits says:

      5 stars
Wow, this sounds insanely fresh. Burrata + berries is such a perfect summer combo, and the balsamic drizzle sounds like exactly the right finishing touch. Can’t wait to try it for lunch!

    2. User avatar jere.klocko1951 says:

      3 stars
I mean… burrata with berries sounds kinda weird to me? Like sweet and salty cheese together? But balsamic could save it. I’d probably add a little honey or prosciutto though. Still, looks pretty.

  36. User avatar dane.schulist1989 says:

    3 stars
Looks good, but is that burrata really necessary? Just use mozzarella, right?

    1. User avatar robbie.steuber says:

      3 stars
I dunno, mozzarella is cheaper and easier to find. Burrata sounds fancy but is it really necessary?

    2. 5 stars
Burrata adds a creamy texture that mozzarella just can’t match. It’s totally worth it!

  37. User avatar douglas.hill26 says:

    2 stars
Berry and cheese? Not sure that’s a good combo. Seems weird.

  38. User avatar kurt.marks63 says:

    4 stars
Berrylicious! Perfect summer dish. So refreshing!

  39. User avatar felisha.jacobi2021 says:

    4 stars
The instructions are straightforward, but my burrata kinda flattened and leaked when I sliced it. Still tasted great though—next time I’ll serve it immediately.

  40. 4 stars
Yum! I used agave nectar instead of balsamic glaze and it was delish!

  41. User avatar santa.durgan says:

    1 star
Why do people put fruit with cheese? That’s just weird. 1 star for this oddity.

  42. User avatar bertram.lemke61 says:

    1 star
Honestly, burrata looks fancy, but what even is it? Just didn’t do much for me. So bland. 😕

  43. User avatar macy.spinka says:

    4 stars
I followed the steps and it came out great, but I forgot to dry the berries properly and it got a little watery. Still tasted good!

  44. User avatar donovan.hagenes46 says:

    4 stars
Making this for my BBQ tomorrow! Hope it impresses my friends! 👍

  45. User avatar fermin.parker says:

    3 stars
Why is there only one chees?! More cheese please. LOL. I woulda gave it 5 if there was more.

    1. User avatar annetta.kertzmann10 says:

      3 stars
Honestly, I think it’s fine with just one chees. Too much cheese might ruin the freshness of the berries. But hey, everyone likes different things!

    2. User avatar sebastian.jaskolski says:

      5 stars
Haha, right? More cheese would definitely make it better! Burrata is so creamy and delicious. I’m all for a cheesy salad!

  46. User avatar earlene.von19 says:

    1 star
I made this for my family and nobody liked it. Way too weird. 1 star.

    2 stars
Looks pretty but I don’t think I could eat that much cheese.

  49. User avatar donnell.lindgren says:

    2 stars
Why would you put cheese on salad? Seems odd to me, but whatever floats your boat.

  50. User avatar shirley.paucek says:

    3 stars
The instructions are super easy, but “to taste” is doing a lot of work here. I oversalted the first try 😅

  53. User avatar tari.brekke37 says:

    2 stars
Not my cup of tea. The berries were too sweet with the cheese. 2 stars.

  54. User avatar oPandariaNo says:

    2 stars
The instructions are too vague—like “to taste” salt and pepper. How much is “to taste” when you’re seasoning for real?

    1. User avatar pasquale.frami1967 says:

      4 stars
Totally agree—“to taste” is fine for casual cooking, but if I’m hosting I want numbers. For this salad I’d start with like 1/4 tsp salt and 1/8 tsp pepper, then adjust at the end. Balsamic already brings a sweet tang, so go light.

  55. User avatar liberal.hero says:

    5 stars
So fresh and colorful! I made it for a picnic and everyone loved it. Definitely making again!

  56. 5 stars
This looks like peak summer. The combo of juicy berries + creamy burrata is dangerously good. I’ll definitely add the basil.

It’s true, it’s super simple. Sometimes the simplest recipes are the best though! 🍓

Why even bother? I mean, just fruit and cheese? Sounds like a waste of time!

  59. User avatar ora.kemmer30 says:

    2 stars
Why do people put fancy stuff like burrata in salads? Just give me some lettuce and I’m good.

  60. User avatar fredricka.connelly says:

This salad is soooo good! The burrata really makes it pop.

I totally agree! The burrata adds that creaminess that just takes it to another level. Yum!

A perfect light dish for a sunny day! I swapped out the berries for peaches and it was great!

Burrata eh? Sounds fancy. But is it just cheese? I dunno about that…

Glad to hear it was still good! I accidentally left out the olive oil once, and it was a disaster!

  71. User avatar evette.reichel says:

    1. User avatar cecil.powlowski45 says:

      4 stars
Burrata and feta are different! Burrata is creamier and richer than feta. Cheddar’s a bold choice though, glad it worked for you!

    2. 3 stars
Lmao, cheddar? That’s not even close! But hey, as long as it was yummy! Just don’t call it burrata next time!

    3 stars
This looks nice, but I don’t know where to find burrata. Can I use regular mozzarella?

  74. 4 stars
Burrata feels a little expensive for a salad, but the flavor is worth it. I’d totally pay for it again.

    1. User avatar wenona.hayes28 says:

      5 stars
Totally get that—burrata can be pricey, but it turns an ordinary salad into something special. The creamy middle with the berries is such a good combo. 😋

  75. 4 stars
I was skeptical about the balsamic with berries, but it’s actually good. Would recommend not going too heavy on the glaze.

  76. User avatar Paul "Muad'Dib" "Usul" Atreides says:

Great idea! Some toasted almonds or walnuts would add a nice texture! 😋

  80. User avatar dacia.kub5 says:

  82. User avatar kenyatta.harvey1976 says:

So easy to make! Perfect side dish for a BBQ. I threw in some nuts too!

  83. 4 stars

    1. User avatar kortney.glover1998 says:

      2 stars
I wouldn’t bother with mozzarella. Burrata is key for the creaminess! Bet it don’t taste the same though.

    2. 4 stars
Regular mozzarella works too! Glad it still turned out good for you. It’s all about making it work with what you have!

  84. User avatar carlota.barton29 says:

    5 stars
Yum!! Berries are my fav! But I used feta instead of burrata and it was lit 🔥

Yeah that’s a fair point—burrata balls can be a little different in size/weight, so the “about 4 oz” is more of a guideline than a strict measurement. If yours was bigger, adding a touch more oil/glaze makes total sense.

So good! I love how fresh and light it is. Plus, it’s super easy to make. A 5 for sure!

I agree! It’s super refreshing, especially on a hot day. I made it last week, and everyone loved it!

I thought burrata was some kind of pasta! Anyway, it was okay, but my husband didn’t like it.

    1. User avatar arlette.stroman44 says:

      4 stars
Burrata is actually a cheese! No worries, it can be a bit confusing. I’m glad you tried it, though. Maybe next time your husband will like it better!

I thought it was just a weird veggie! But, yeah, my kids wouldn’t touch it either. Just don’t give up on trying new recipes!

Just made this for a picnic and everyone loved it! So refreshing and colorful.

Sounds great! I love how easy it is to make. I’ll definitely try adding walnuts next time. Thanks for the tip!

So good! I added some walnuts for crunch. A real summer treat!

    1. 5 stars
Walnuts sound yummy! Love adding crunch to salads.

  92. 4 stars
Simple but honestly it works. I used a store-bought balsamic glaze and it tasted fancy without much effort.

  93. User avatar madlyn.kulas says:

    4 stars
Quick, easy, and refreshing. Perfect for summer! I skipped the basil though, wasn’t feeling it.

  94. User avatar michel.rodriguez55 says:

    5 stars
Wait… you just put everything on a plate and drizzle? lol okay I did that and it turned out great. 10/10 no notes.

  95. 3 stars
Looks great, but I question if it’s really filling. How is just cheese and fruit enough?

  96. User avatar eldridge.schuster says:

    1 star
Berries in salad? I dont know ’bout that. I like my greens. But it looked pretty.

  97. 2 stars
I don’t see the hype, it’s just fruit and cheese. Not for me but good luck to those who like it.

    1. User avatar myron.barrows says:

      3 stars
Not everyone has to like it, but it ain’t just fruit and cheese! Those flavors combined are really something special. Give it another try, maybe? 😅

    2. User avatar Yooden Vranx says:

      5 stars
I get your point, but the sweetness of the berries really complements the creaminess of the burrata! It’s a flavor explosion! 😍

  98. User avatar sherill.koelpin98 says:

    2 stars
I followed it exactly and it turned out bland. I think I didn’t use enough salt/pepper. Also my balsamic glaze was too sweet—balance matters.

  99. User avatar sherell.schuppe1962 says:

    4 stars
I wasn’t too sure about the combo of berries and cheese, but this was surprisingly good. I’ll give it a 4.

    1. User avatar lucinda.yost says:

I was skeptical too, but this combo is a game changer! Totally yum! 🍓🧀

Yummy!!! I cant believe how good it was !!!!! One of my best summer salads now.

  101. User avatar sona.mraz65 says:

    3 stars
Easy to prepare but the balsamic was too much for my taste. Next time I’ll use less.

  102. User avatar Dwarven Centurion says:

    2 stars
I dunno, burrata? It sounds fancy but I just don’t get why you’d put cheese on a salad. 2/5.

  103. User avatar Yule B. Sari says:

    4 stars
Honestly, this is more like an assembled plate than a “salad.” Still delicious though—light and refreshing.

  104. User avatar tomika.blanda says:

    2 stars
My berries were kinda sour and the balsamic glaze didn’t save it. I think you really need ripe fruit.

    1. User avatar reggie.kozey98 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—if the berries are underripe, balsamic just makes the sourness louder 😅 Next time try sweeter, fully ripe berries or a quick splash of honey over them before serving.

  105. User avatar alva.zemlak says:

    4 stars
I’ve never made salad before, but this sounds easy enough! 😋

  106. User avatar Rob McKenna says:

    5 stars
This looks like the perfect summer lunch—sweet berries with creamy burrata is such a good combo. I’d add a few toasted nuts next time for crunch.

    1. User avatar sherice.dooley46 says:

      3 stars
Looks good but I’m not sure about the balsamic—like won’t it be too sweet with berries? Maybe just olive oil and salt would be better. 😅

    2. 5 stars
Yes! Toasted nuts would be perfect here—more texture to balance the creamy burrata. I’ll try it with chopped almonds next time.

  107. User avatar cristie.williamson2 says:

    5 stars
This is delicious! I added toasted pistachios for crunch and it made it way more interesting. Everyone asked for the recipe.

  108. User avatar robby.hill91 says:

    5 stars
Wow. 10/10 would eat again. Buratta cheese is the besttt.

  109. 3 stars
I followed it mostly, but my burrata slid off the plate??? Still tasted good though. Maybe I should’ve patted everything drier.

  110. 4 stars
I’m skeptical about berries with burrata, but I tried it anyway. Surprisingly good! Kinda sweet-salty in a nice way. Next time I’ll slice the strawberries thinner.

    1. User avatar Dan Deline says:

      5 stars
I was skeptical too—burrata + sweet fruit is such a weird combo until you taste it. Your “sweet-salty” note nails it. Thin slices are a great call; I do that when using strawberries so they macerate a bit with the balsamic.

  111. 5 stars
5/5 would eat again. I used strawberries and blueberries only and it was still super colorful. Basil on top was the right move.

  112. User avatar min.crist2013 says:

    2 stars
I didn’t like it at all. The berries tasted funny with the cheese. Not for me.

    1. 5 stars
I totally disagree! The sweetness of the berries is such a nice contrast with the creaminess of the burrata. Maybe just needed more seasoning?

    2. User avatar marguerite.welch87 says:

      4 stars
Funny taste? Are you sure the berries were fresh? I love burrata, and it always goes well with fruits for me.

  113. User avatar mickey.bahringer says:

    5 stars
Yum! The balsamic is the magic touch. Who knew cheese with fruit could be this good?!

    1. User avatar Falmer Spellsword says:

      5 stars
I never thought cheese and fruit could be good either until I tried this! Balsamic really does bring everything together. Great recipe!

  114. 5 stars
This looks like the perfect summer lunch—fresh, simple, and honestly pretty impressive for minimal effort. The balsamic + burrata combo is a win.

  115. User avatar estela.oberbrunner63 says:

    4 stars
I used dried basil by accident and it was not the move. Fresh basil is really what makes it taste alive.

  116. User avatar morgan.beahan63 says:

    2 stars
Burrata always seems too expensive for me 😅 but the recipe is pretty straightforward. I might swap for mozzarella if I’m being budget.

  117. User avatar britteny.murazik says:

    3 stars
I made it exactly as written and it was good, but kind of… sweet? I think I should reduce the balsamic glaze.

  118. User avatar alvin.brekke2019 says:

    3 stars
I dunno, I thought it would be better. The burrata was a bit too fancy for me, haha.

  119. User avatar anonymous_hacker says:

    1 star
Lol this is just fruit and cheese?? Who needs a recipe for that?

  120. User avatar Gisele Gaylord says:

    2 stars
I followed the recipe but didn’t have balsamic glaze, so I made a honey mustard dressing instead. It was okay.

  121. User avatar dollie.medhurst says:

    5 stars. So fresh.

    1. User avatar brett.howell45 says:

      3 stars
5 stars? I mean it is pretty, but burrata is kinda pricey where I live 😅 also “balsamic glaze” is just balsamic right? Anyway looks good!

    2. User avatar gerald.jakubowski24 says:

      5 stars
Yes!! The berries + burrata combo is so perfect—this sounds like summer on a plate. I’m totally making it this week.

  122. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

Berries and cheese?? Is that even a thing?? 🤔

  123. User avatar dalila.kuphal says:

Looks nice but too hard to make or something idk. Just give me a burger.

    1. 4 stars
It might look fancy, but it’s super easy! Just a little prep and you’re done. You can do it!

  124. User avatar angelo.murray60 says:

    2 stars
Too much balsamic for my taste. Also, I used cheap cheese and it didn’t taste good.

  125. 4 stars
The burrata part is key, but I’m skeptical about balsamic glaze + berries. Surprised me—in a good way. I’ll try again with less glaze next time.

  126. 4 stars
I’m not usually a burrata person, but this salad sounded cute. Turns out I liked it a lot—fresh and not heavy.

    1. User avatar cole.koelpin8 says:

      5 stars
Totally get that! I’m not always into burrata either, but this kind of sweet + creamy combo is so refreshing. Glad it wasn’t heavy—burrata salads can go either way.

  127. 5 stars
Made this for lunch today—so fresh and pretty. The berries with burrata are seriously a perfect combo, and the balsamic glaze pulls it together.

  128. User avatar deandre.konopelski9 says:

    5 stars
This looks gorgeous—sweet berries with creamy burrata is such a perfect combo. I’d probably add a little lemon zest too, but the balsamic + olive oil drizzle already sounds spot on.

  129. 1 star
Why would you put olive oil on fruit? Sounds weird to me but guess it’s just me.

  130. User avatar brandee.conn1968 says:

    4 stars
Way too fancy for my weeknight cooking 😅 but I’d still try it. I’d probably add a handful of arugula too.
