Buckeye Fudge is a dessert that beautifully balances the rich, creamy texture of peanut butter with the smooth, indulgent flavor of chocolate. Inspired by the famous Buckeye candy, this treat brings together the best of both worlds in a way that feels both comforting and decadent. Itâs the kind of dessert that makes people pause and savor each bite, enjoying the combination of sweet and salty in a single, melt-in-your-mouth experience.
What makes Buckeye Fudge so special is its simplicity and versatility. The creamy peanut butter base is the heart of the treat, offering that familiar, nutty goodness that pairs perfectly with the chocolate topping. The fudgeâs beauty lies in its layers, with each bite providing the perfect balance of rich chocolate and the satisfying depth of peanut butter, without either flavor overpowering the other.
While the classic version is always a crowd-pleaser, one of the joys of Buckeye Fudge is how easy it is to customize. Whether you prefer a darker chocolate layer or a hint of salt for an added twist, thereâs plenty of room to experiment and make it your own. Itâs the perfect treat for any occasion, whether youâre looking for a quick sweet snack or a dessert to share at a gathering.
This fudge is also a great option for gift-giving. It looks beautiful when cut into neat squares and wrapped in cellophane or packaged in a decorative box, making it a thoughtful, homemade gift for holidays, birthdays, or any celebration.
For those who love the combination of peanut butter and chocolate, Buckeye Fudge is an indulgent, easy-to-make treat that hits all the right notes. Its rich, velvety layers and irresistible flavor make it a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth.

It’s okay, but I thought it would be more chocolatey. Maybe try adding more chips?
Okay but why does it make 48? My mini tins only fit like half that. I ended up with fewer pieces and more fillingâstill delicious.
Made these for a potluck and they disappeared fast. Super creamy and the chocolate set perfectly in about an hour in my fridge. Will absolutely make again!
So easy to make! Seemed like a lot of ingredients, but really simple.
I tried this and it was super simple! My kids loved it!
Mine was a little too thick when I poured it into the liners, like fudge that set too fast. Not sure if I cooked it too long or my peanut butter was thicker.
Why do they call it fudge when it’s just melted chocolate? đ¤
Fudge is more than just melted chocolate! It’s the texture and creaminess that makes it fudge! đŤ
But isn’t fudge just a fancy term for melted chocolate and sugar? đ¤ˇââď¸
Not really a fan of peanut butter in desserts, so I didnât enjoy it much. Might just be me!
5 stars! I just took them out of the fridge and they are perfect. Yummy!
It’s decent… but honestly, just buy a chocolate bar. It saves time. đ
I kinda messed it up, didn’t melt the chocolate enough. Is it supposed to be runny?
I don’t understand the fuss with melting chocolate, my mom just uses the microwave!
Yeah, it should be kinda runny when you melt it! Just put it back on the heat for a bit. You’ll get it right next time!
Absolutely delicious! A hit at the party!
Didnât turn out at all. The chocolate didn’t melt properly for me.
I had the same problem once, but it was because I didnât use enough heat. Just donât rush it!
Sorry to hear that! Did you use a double boiler or just a pot? That could make a difference.
Easy recipe, but my chocolate burned a lil bit. Next time I’ll be more careful.
Broke my spoon trying to mix it, lol. Not the best recipe for a smooth finish.
Soo good! I added some crushed peanuts on top for crunch. Will def make again!
5 stars all day! Who knew peanut butter and chocolate could be this good together?
It was ok, but I thought it would taste more like fudge. Got a bit confused with the instructions.
I totally get what you mean! I thought it would be more fudgey too! Maybe try adding more peanut butter next time? That could enhance the flavor a bit.
Confused? The steps are simple, just follow them! I think it came out pretty tasty, honestly. Maybe you just don’t like the flavor? đ¤ˇââď¸
Too sweet for me. I had to add extra salt to balance it out. Might try with less chocolate next time.
I find it perfect as is! Maybe try a different brand of chocolate? Some are sweeter than others.
Nah, more chocolate is always better. Salt seems weird to me! Just embrace the sweet!
1 cup peanut butter + condensed milk is basically a dessert cheat code. I skipped measuring and it still worked (kinda).
Totallyâcondensed milk does most of the heavy lifting. Mine never fully âworks (kinda)â though⌠I always end up needing more stirring time so the peanut butter blends smooth đ
I tried it exactly as written and it was waaaay too sweet. Also, 1 hour wasnât enough in my fridgeâhad to chill like 2 hours before theyâd hold shape.
Hmm that sounds frustrating đ Buckeye fudge is usually pretty sweet from the condensed milkânext time maybe use unsweetened cocoa or add a pinch of salt to cut it. And yeah, chilling longer can be key for the shape!
I think your fridge might be colder? I always do 2 hours minimum. Also mine was sweet too, so I swap in a little less condensed milk (like 3/4 can) and it helps. 1 hour is not enough for me either.
Dislike! Chocolate and peanut butter do not mix well! Never again.
I tried this but it didn’t set for some reason… Is there something I did wrong?
This turned out dangerously goodârich, smooth, and the peanut butter flavor is spot on. I made them for a party and they vanished fast. 10/10 would snack again.
I love peanut butter, but the ratio felt off to me. Next time Iâll reduce the condensed milk just a touch so itâs less creamy.
Wait, you mean less condensed milk makes it *less* creamy? I always thought it needed the full can to set right⌠but maybe my peanut butter was different. Also I used regular peanut butter chips like the recipe saysâidk if that matters.
Totally get what you meanâcondensed milk can make it feel almost too smooth. Reducing it a bit sounds like a great tweak. I might try 1/2 to 1 tbsp less next time.
This recipe is out of this world! I’ve made it three times already!
This is dangerously easy. Double boiler + stir + chill⌠done. I added a pinch of salt and it made the peanut flavor pop.
Right?? I made this and was like⌠is that it? đ The texture was spot on thoughâdouble boiler makes it so smooth. Salt pinch sounds legit.
Dangerously easy indeed. I tried âdouble boilerâ but my pot was basically just simmering the whole time and it got kinda grainy⌠still ate it đŹ Next time Iâll be more careful. Salt might help, so Iâll try that!
This is a decadent treat! My kids love it!
I didn’t have peanut butter chips, used walnuts instead. Still worked great!
I tried it but i think my chocolate chips never really melted all the way. Ended up grainy, kinda gross to be honest. Maybe my double boiler was too hot?
Ugh, grainy fudge is the worst. Your instinct might be rightâif the double boiler runs too hot, the chocolate can seize instead of melting smoothly. Iâd try keeping the water barely simmering (not steaming hard) and stir more gently/consistently until itâs glossy before pulling it off heat.
These are dangerously good. Like⌠one turns into five. I used mini muffin liners and they popped out clean.
Yessssâdangerously good is exactly right đ I love that they come out clean with mini liners. Iâve made buckeye fudge before but it always stuck a bit unless I used extra-cold chilling time. How long did yours chill?
Hmm Iâm not sure I trust the âturns into fiveâ thing lol. But I guess if the liners pop clean, that means the texture is right. I used creamy PB and only did like 30 mins in the fridge once⌠was still pretty soft. Might try your liner trick though.
