Butter Steak

July 26, 2024

Butter steak is one of those dishes that proves you do not need a long list of ingredients to create something unforgettable. It is tender, juicy, and full of bold, beefy flavor, made even better with the addition of garlic-infused butter and fresh herbs. With just a few simple steps, you can bring the taste of a high-end steakhouse into your own kitchen.

Start with a quality cut of beef like ribeye, strip, filet mignon, or sirloin. Let the steak sit at room temperature for about 20 to 30 minutes before cooking so it cooks more evenly. A hot, heavy-bottomed pan is key. Cast iron works best because it holds heat and helps develop a deep brown crust. Season the steak generously with salt and pepper and sear it in a bit of oil until golden brown on both sides.

Once your steak is almost cooked to your preferred level of doneness, it is time to bring in the butter. Drop a few tablespoons into the pan along with smashed garlic cloves and sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme. As the butter melts and begins to foam, tilt the pan slightly and spoon the hot, flavored butter over the steak repeatedly. This basting technique adds flavor, helps the steak cook more evenly, and gives it a rich, glossy finish.

After basting, let the steak rest for a few minutes so the juices settle. This is an important step that keeps every bite juicy and flavorful. Slice it against the grain and serve it with your favorite sides like roasted potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a crisp salad.

Butter steak is all about quality and care. It does not need a sauce or extra seasoning because the buttery finish speaks for itself. Whether you’re cooking for a special occasion or just want to enjoy something satisfying, this dish always impresses..

Overcooked steak is like shoe leather, lol. You should try using a meat thermometer to avoid that!

Seems easy enough, but I don’t think I have the patience to wait 20 minutes before eating! 😩

I totally get you! That waiting period is killer. Can’t you just eat it right away, though? Wouldn’t wanna let that butter go to waste! 😂

Using canola oil is a little weird for a steak recipe. Shouldn’t be using olive oil instead?

  12. User avatar The Allitnils says:

Simply delicious, but why let it rest for 20 mins? Sounds kinda outrageous! But my steak was still great.

    1. User avatar maris.harris says:

      4 stars
Letting it rest is important! It helps the juices distribute or something. But hey, glad you liked it! 😄

Uh, isn’t butter unhealthy? I’m not sure this is a good idea for a date. Maybe grill it instead?

I got confused about the resting time. Why 20 minutes? Isn’t that a bit long for steak, like how do u keep it warm?

  16. 2 stars
Looks too simple. How can it be that good with just butter and steak? I’m skeptical.
