Chicken Parmesan is one of those universally loved dishes that brings comfort to the table no matter the season. With its golden breaded chicken, savory tomato sauce, and melty layer of cheese, it’s the kind of meal that feels like a warm hug. This baked version keeps all the flavor you love but skips the mess and excess oil that comes with frying, making it a weeknight-friendly favorite.
What makes baked Chicken Parmesan so appealing is its simplicity. Instead of standing over a pan of hot oil, the chicken is baked in the oven until crispy and golden. It still gets that satisfying crunch, thanks to a well-seasoned breadcrumb coating, but with less effort and cleanup. Once baked, it’s topped with marinara sauce and a generous handful of shredded mozzarella or parmesan, then returned to the oven just long enough to melt into a bubbling, cheesy topping.
The result is everything you want in a comfort food dish, juicy, crispy chicken with rich tomato flavor and plenty of gooey cheese. It’s hearty and filling but doesn’t feel heavy, and it pairs beautifully with pasta, salad, or roasted veggies. It’s also great for meal prep. Leftovers reheat well and can even be used in a sandwich or wrap the next day.
Baked Chicken Parmesan is a smart way to enjoy a classic dish without the extra grease or time commitment. It’s approachable, adaptable, and always satisfying. Whether you’re cooking for your family, hosting a casual dinner, or simply craving something familiar and delicious, this dish delivers every time.
And the best part? It’s one of those meals that pleases picky eaters and foodies alike. No need to reinvent the wheel – just bake it.

Why you put GARLIC?! That dont go with chicken! Not following this one again.
Easy, yes. But why would anyone use butter and not just olive oil? Seems unhealthy.
Easy to make! I’m not a cook, but my kids loved it. I’ll try it again for sure!
I thought Chicken Parm was supposed to be fried? Why bake? Odd.
Baking makes it healthier! Plus, it’s so easy to clean up. Love this recipe!
But is it really Chicken Parm if you don’t fry it? Seems off to me. Just sayin’.
I mean, it’s okay but wasn’t anything special. The chicken was a bit dry.
I don’t like parmesan, is there a way to substitute it? Or can you just leave it off?
You could try using nutritional yeast or another cheese like mozzarella if you don’t want parmesan! It should still taste good!
Just leave it off. It’s not the end of the world. You’ll still have chicken and sauce!
This was SO good! My family devoured it in minutes, definitely a keeper! 🍽️
Yesss this is sooo good! Can’t wait to heat the leftovers!
Glad you liked it, but isn’t it just too cheesy? I prefer mine less saucy, more plain.
I know, right?! The leftovers are the best part! I always eat them for breakfast lol!
This recipe is a game changer! Sooo easy and delicious. 5 stars!
This was super easy and tasted amazing! My family loved it. Definitely making it again!
Delicioso! My mom loved it. Will make again for sure.
So glad to hear that! It’s a family favorite for sure. 😊
I didn’t have fresh basil, used dried and it still tasted good. 🍗👍
Chicken was dry. Should’ve followed my gut and not baked it so long.
Really simple to make but the chicken came out dry for me. 😅
Idk who invented chicken parm, but they deserve a medal. Easy peasy recipe!
Better than any restaurant! I paired it with spaghetti and it was a hit! 🥳
Yummmm! The cheese is everything. I would suggest using more marinara sauce though.
I dunno, I think it has enough sauce. Too much can make it soggy, right? Just a thought.
Totally agree! More marinara would make it saucier and yummier. I always drown mine in sauce! 😋
Why use butter? Ain’t olive oil healthier? 🤷♂️
Olive oil is definitely healthier, but butter adds a rich flavor! Can’t go wrong with either in moderation. 😊
Butter makes it taste way better! Like, idk if olive oil can do that haha. 🤷♀️
I don’t know if I did something wrong but the chicken turned out kinda dry. I followed the recipe exactly.
This is not real Italian food! You need more spices and less cheese.
Italian food is all about balance! The cheese adds creaminess and flavor. Maybe you just need to try it!
Less cheese? Are you kidding? That’s like saying pizza should have no cheese!
I didn’t have parmesan so I used cheddar instead. It still turned out good! 😂
Can you really call this Parmesan if there’s no actual cheese in it? I mean, come on!
What is marinara sauce??? Can I use ketchup instead? Asking for a friend.
Made this for dinner last night, everyone cleaned their plates. Will make again!
Way too salty for my taste. Followed the recipe exactly and yikes! 😳
I totally understand. I think I put too much salt the first time I made it too. Maybe try less salt next time? 😅
Salt? What are you talkin about? That’s like the most imp ingredient, or else its bland! 😂
I dunno. Chicken kinda dry for me. Maybe I did it wrong?
I didn’t have breadcrumbs so I used crushed chips. Still tasted great! Who knew?
That’s a clever idea! Chips do add a nice crunch. I might try that next time!
Yum!! This made my kitchen smell amazing! I added some spices too, like cayenne. 🔥
Nice recipe! I served it with spaghetti and it was a hit at my dinner party. 🎉
Okay, but where does the basil go? I just tossed it on top. Lol.
Super easy and quick! I added some extra cheese and it turned out great!
I thought it was okay, but my kids didn’t like the marinara. Should have tried something else.
Why does the cooking time say 20 minutes? Mine took longer! What’s up with that?
Sometimes ovens can be off! I had the same issue before. You might want to check if yours runs cool or something. Cooking times can vary a lot.
Yum! I added some oregano too. My family loved it!
That’s awesome! Oregano is a great touch! What kind of pasta did you serve it with?
I dunno, I think Parmesan by itself is good enough. Adding oregano seems like too much.
Yum! 10/10! 👌
Pretty simple and came out delicious
It was okay, but I think it needed more seasoning. The breadcrumbs were kinda bland.
This was not it! I burned it. Followed the directions exactly.
I didn’t have all the ingredients so I used cheddar instead of mozzarella. It melted but tasted weird…
Cheddar is great too! It’s just different. Next time try mixing it with some mozzarella if you have it!
Honestly, I think any cheese would work as long as you like it. But yeah, mozzarella is kinda the classic flavor.
This is just chicken with sauce and cheese! I’m not sure why people rave about it. -_-
This was so easy and delicious! My family loved it! Definitely a keeper!
Perfect for busy weeknights! Quick and so tasty! 👍
Easy to follow recipe! This is my go-to for weeknight dinners. Thanks!
I’m glad you found it easy! It really is a lifesaver on busy nights. 🍝
This recipe is amazing! My family loved it. Will definitely make again.
I’m so glad to hear that! It’s a family favorite in my house too. What sides did you serve with it?
Did you really like it that much? I tried it and thought it was kinda bland…
I burnt the chicken. 😭 What did I do wrong?!
This was sooo good! My family gobbled it up. I added some spinach too. Yummy!
Not sure about this one. Chicken was kinda dry. Maybe I cooked it too long?
I think you might have just overcooked it a bit! Chicken can dry out fast if left too long. Maybe try lowering the oven temp next time?
