Spinach Alfredo Pasta

April 23, 2025

Spinach Alfredo pasta is the ultimate comfort food. The creamy Alfredo sauce, with its rich blend of butter, cream, and Parmesan, wraps around each strand of pasta while the fresh spinach adds a burst of color, texture, and nutritional value. This dish is not only indulgent but also an easy way to incorporate more greens into your meal. It’s perfect for cozy dinners or any time you’re craving a rich, flavorful pasta.

To start, cook your favorite pasta until it’s al dente. Fettuccine is the traditional choice for Alfredo pasta, but penne, spaghetti, or rigatoni will work just as well. While the pasta is cooking, begin preparing the Alfredo sauce. In a large skillet, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant. Then, add heavy cream and bring it to a simmer. Stir in freshly grated Parmesan cheese, allowing it to melt into the cream to form a velvety sauce. Keep stirring until the sauce thickens to your liking, and then season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg for added depth.

Once the sauce is ready, add fresh spinach to the skillet. The heat from the sauce will wilt the spinach, turning it a deep green and releasing its natural juices, which blend beautifully with the creamy sauce. The spinach not only adds color and flavor but also a healthy dose of vitamins and iron. You can add more spinach if you like a bolder green flavor or keep it light with just a handful.

Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and toss it into the Alfredo sauce, making sure the noodles are well coated. The creamy sauce should cling to the pasta, creating a smooth, rich coating. If the sauce seems too thick, add a bit of pasta water to loosen it up and help the sauce adhere to the pasta. For an extra touch, sprinkle some grated Parmesan on top and a few cracks of black pepper.

Spinach Alfredo pasta is the kind of dish that’s as comforting as it is delicious. It’s rich and creamy but the addition of spinach balances the heaviness with freshness. Whether served as a main course or as a side dish, it’s sure to become a family favorite.

Uhh, I dunno. It came out kinda runny for me. Maybe too much cream? 😕

I think it might be the cream, but you could try addin’ more cheese next time! That makes it thicker! 🧀
