Pigs in a blanket are a beloved party snack, often made with mini sausages wrapped in puff pastry or biscuit dough. While the classic version is always a hit, adding bacon to the mix takes this dish to a whole new level of deliciousness. The smoky, salty bacon pairs perfectly with the juicy sausages, creating a savory bite that is sure to please any crowd.
The beauty of pigs in a blanket with bacon is in its simplicity. You start with your favorite mini sausages, which provide the perfect balance of meatiness and flavor. Next, a slice of crispy bacon is wrapped around each sausage, infusing it with a rich, smoky taste that elevates the dish. The bacon not only adds flavor but also a delightful crunch, contrasting beautifully with the tender sausage inside.
Instead of the typical dough or puff pastry, this variation allows the bacon to take center stage. You can bake them on a sheet tray, where the bacon crisps up around the sausages, creating a mouthwatering golden exterior. The result is a snack that’s both hearty and satisfying, perfect for gatherings, game days, or a casual family meal.
These bacon-wrapped pigs in a blanket are incredibly versatile. You can add a variety of seasonings or even brush them with a glaze like maple syrup or honey for a touch of sweetness that complements the savory bacon. A dash of chili powder or garlic powder can also add a bit of heat and flavor.
Whether served as an appetizer at a party or as a fun addition to a casual meal, pigs in a blanket with bacon are always a crowd favorite. They’re easy to make, full of flavor, and undeniably delicious. With the smoky, savory taste of bacon wrapping around the juicy sausage, this upgraded version of the classic is sure to become a new go-to snack for any occasion.

- 1 sheet puff pastry thawed if frozen

- Place the wrapped sausages on the prepared baking sheet and brush with beaten egg.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the bacon is cooked through.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
I tried this and the puff pastry didn’t really puff—still edible though. Maybe my pastry was too warm or not thawed enough.
Disapointing. The pastry was too soggy and didn’t cook right. Maybe I did something wrong?
Best appetizer ever! Instructions were super clear. Will make again!
I dunno, sounds kinda easy but what if the bacon ain’t cooked right? Might just stick to regular pigs in blankets.
Totally agree! These are amazing! I made them for a party and they were gone in minutes!
These are SO good! Perfect for parties and super easy to make. Everyone loved them! Definitely 5 stars!
I don’t get why you would wrap bacon around sausage. Seems extra.
I don’t know… looks messy to me. Why not just mini sausages by themselves? 🤔
It’s not extra! The bacon adds flavor and makes it crispy. It’s a delicious combo!
Bacon and pastry? Sounds too rich. Not sure about this combo.
Yum! Just made these for the game night. Literally gone in minutes! 🏈
Bacon and pastry, what’s not to like? Delicious! 🌟
I totally agree! Bacon makes everything better! 🌟
I was skeptical at first. Pigs in a blanket with BACON? But wow, a match made in heaven. 4/5!
Honestly, 400°F feels too high for puff pastry, but I tried it anyway. They browned fast and still stayed soft inside. Would make again for sure.
I’m with you—400°F sounds a little scary for puff pastry, but your results make me want to trust the timing. If they browned fast and stayed soft, that’s exactly what I look for.
This recipe needs more bacon! 8 slices for 16 sausages ain’t enough!
But that’s how you make pigs in a blanket. Too much bacon would overpower the sausages. I say stick to the recipe!
I totally agree! More bacon would definitely make this dish better. Can’t have too much bacon!
I thought I was getting the wrong chills. It shoulda called ‘pigs in a sheet’ not blanket. 😂
My son gobbled these up! Easy to make and fun to eat. Will definitely make again! 😊
So glad your son loved them! They are super easy and always a hit at parties! 🎉
I dunno, seems a bit unhealthy. Too much bacon, right? 🤔
I made these but used cheese instead of sausages. Still good though!
That’s a creative twist! Cheese sounds like a delicious alternative. I’ll have to try that next time!
They taste good, but I thought it was a bit greasy. Maybe use less bacon?
Using puff pastry is genius! I love how flaky they turn out.
Too much bacon? No such thing! 🤤
My pastry strips tore a bit when I tried to seal them—maybe my sheet was too dry. I added a little extra egg and it fixed it.
That makes sense—puff pastry can get brittle if it’s too dry or you flour it too much. Your fix with extra egg is spot on (the egg acts like a glue). Next time maybe don’t overflour the surface either.
Happened to me too 😅 I think my pastry was still partially frozen, so when I tried to seal it just ripped. I just pressed harder and used more egg wash. Tbh 400F feels high, mine browned too fast.
I don’t know… The recipe is great but my bacon never gets crispy enough. Do I need to cook the bacon first??
Honestly, they taste good but took forever to wrap. 😒 Next time I’d use just sausages.
Easy peasy, perfect for quick snacks! I made these in bulk for my game night!
My kids loved these. I made them smaller and they still cooked in about the same time, so it’s flexible. Next time I’ll add a little cheese inside too.
Yum! My kids loved them! Super fun and a great snack or appetizer. Will make again!
Can you use chicken instead of bacon? That’s what I might try.
Chicken won’t taste as good as bacon, just saying! But why not give it a shot? 😊
Delicious! But I think I might try using a different pastry next time. Maybe phyllo? 🤔
So easy to make! I added some cheese inside too, and it was bomb! Yum!
400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes felt too short to me, so I ended up overbrowning them. Tasty, but not pretty. If you try it, watch closely after 18 minutes.
Oh no—yeah, 20–25 can be a little tight depending on your oven and how thick your puff pastry puffs. I’ll definitely watch from ~18 min next time. Thanks for the heads-up!
This felt a bit complicated. I mean, who has time to wrap everything?
Nah, I think it’s easy! Just wrap and bake. Plus, the taste is amazing! Don’t overthink it.
I get it, it does seem like a lot to do! But I promise it’s worth it. You can always prep things ahead of time and just bake them when you’re ready!
OMG! These are the bomb! 😍 I could eat a whole tray myself.
It was okay, but I think I baked them too long. Pastry got hard.
Maybe try lowering the temperature a bit next time? That worked for me! 😊
Bakin too long? I always get that wrong too. I just ignore the timer and guess 😅.
Never cooked puff pastry before. Mine turned out way too doughy. Help!
Meh, I thought it would taste better. Kinda bland if I’m honest.
These are a hit at parties! Everyone loves them! 😍
Absolutely! I made them last weekend and they disappeared in no time! 😋
I don’t know why but mine were kinda burnt on the bottom. What did I do wrong?
Yummm!!! Can’t believe how easy these were to make. Highly recommend!
Why cut the bacon in half? I just wrapped full slices and it was fine, though the bacon took longer to cook. Still tasty.
Yum! I added some cheese inside too, and it was amazing. Will make again!
Bacon is life! These are super easy and so tasty! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Too much bacon maybe? I like sausage more but they were okay.
I think the bacon adds a nice flavor! But sausage is good too. Just customize to your taste!
Nah, bacon is the best! Sausage can’t beat that crispy goodness. You just gotta love the bacon!
Awesome! just awesome! I added some spices and it was even better.
These are a crowd favorite at every party! Everyone loves them.
I made these for my daughter’s birthday party and they vanished in minutes! Super easy to make too. 🥳
Not sure about the bacon part… Seems like too much for a party snack. Why not just use regular pastry?
These are amazing! Perfect for parties, everyone loved them.
I’m so glad to hear that! They really are the life of the party, aren’t they? Delicious!
I don’t get the hype. The bacon was too greasy and it took forever to wrap them all. Not worth it.
I totally disagree! I think the bacon adds a delicious flavor and the wrapping is part of the fun. Maybe try it with less bacon next time?
Sounds like you did something wrong. It shouldn’t take that long to wrap them, and you’ve gotta love that greasy bacon in this recipe! 😋
MY KIDS ARE PICKY. They actually ate these. Miracle!
I don’t get why people like these. Too much bacon, not enough flavor. Have you tried using cheese instead?
I think the bacon gives it a nice crunch! But cheese does sound like an interesting idea. Have you tried it?
Not bad, but why use puff pastry instead of crescent rolls? Crescent is cheaper and basically the same vibe. Also, I ran out of egg so I skipped the last brushing.
Won’t lie, 16 pieces? seems like a lot work for snack. Also cocktail sausages are kinda small—my oven timed it wrong and they dried out. Meh.
I burned them. 😭 Maybe I need to pay attention next time… timing is everything!
Not bad, but the pastry burned a little. Maybe I need to lower the temp?
Yum! Easy to make and very delish! Will definitely make again.
My kids devoured these! I had to hide some for myself. 😂
These were a huge hit at my party! Everyone loved them and I will definitely make again!
I’m skeptical about wrapping everything in puff pastry… ended up kinda soggy in the middle. Maybe I didn’t seal well with the egg wash?
These were a hit at my party! Super easy and so tasty. Definitely making them again!
I used regular hot dogs (lol) instead of mini sausages and it was more like pigs in a blanket boats. Flavor was still there but portioning was messy.
Regular hot dogs vs mini sausages—so it’s not really pigs in a blanket then, more like… hot dog pockets? Still, if the bacon cooks through and pastry is golden, I guess it counts. Portioning messy is real though.
Honestly that sounds like a hilarious (and still tasty) variation 😂 The puff pastry really forgives a lot. Next time just cut the hot dogs a bit shorter so it’s easier to portion.
Disappointing. My pastry burnt even though I took it out early. Didn’t taste great either tbh. 2 stars.
Wow, I used turkey bacon instead and they came out great! Probably healthier, right?
I dunno about healthier, but turkey bacon tastes a bit different. Did you use the same amount?
Turkey bacon is a good idea! I always look for healthier options. Glad yours turned out great!
I made these for game night and they disappeared instantly! So good!
Easy, quick, and definitely a crowd-pleaser. I was a little worried about the bacon not cooking through, but 22 minutes was spot on for my oven.
Glad it worked for you! I also found 22 minutes is the sweet spot—my oven runs hot though, so I start checking around 18. Crowd-pleasers are right 😄
Followed the steps but the pastry didn’t bake well, might’ve been my oven. Not impressed.
These were a hit at my party! So delicious and easy to make. Will definitely be making again!
Yum! I love pigs in a blanket! My kids devoured them in minutes.
So glad to hear that! They’re always a hit at parties too. 😊
They weren’t that great, I prefer the ones with just the dough. Bacon kinda overpowers it.
These got burnt ngl… but still tasted decent, maybe I left them in too long.
Burnt or not, if they tasted decent, that’s a win! Just need to watch the time next time.
You should try lower temp next time. 400° might be too much for bacon. Just an idea!
400°F seems high? Mine started browning fast so I lowered it to 375°F halfway. The pastry texture improved a lot. Would recommend that tweak.
These came out perfectly golden and crispy on the outside. The puff pastry flaked so nicely. I used a honey-mustard dip and it was a hit at my house.
Bacon. Sausage. Pastry. What more do you need? 10/10.
Not bad, but my pastry got a little too brown on the ends before the bacon fully crisped. Next time I’ll tent with foil halfway through.
Hmmm 400°F for 25 min and “bacon cooked through” feels kinda vague—mine browned fast and bacon stayed chewy. Next time I’ll start at like 375 or cover sooner like you said. Great fix though.
Thanks for the tip! Tenting with foil makes sense—my oven runs hot too. I usually rotate the tray halfway through but foil might save it.
Can you substitute the bacon for veggies? Asking for a friend who doesn’t eat meat.
You can definitely use veggies instead of bacon! Just make sure to cook them a bit to get rid of excess moisture. My friend loves them that way!
Soo good!! Makes perfect finger food for watching football games. Highly recommend!
Absolutely! These are a hit every time! Perfect for parties too!
These are amazing!!! I made them for a party and everyone loved them. Will definitely make again.
Is this healthy? I don’t think I can eat this if I’m watching my weight.
Not gonna lie, the egg step confused me. I brushed it anyway and it definitely helped with the seal + color.
Same here—first time I made these I was like “why egg?!” 😅 But yeah, it really helps the pastry brown and stay sealed. Now I always beat it and brush it on both spots.
I kinda winged it and still did fine… I didn’t even brush it right away, just kinda brushed at the end. Color was ok but the edges looked a little open. Still tasty tho. Next time I’ll follow the egg step more.
This is a total crowd-pleaser. The puff pastry gets so flaky and the bacon stays nice and crispy around the sausage—perfect snack food energy.
OMG these are amazing! Just tried them last night. 10/10 would recommend!!!
These are a hit at parties! Everybody loves them! 🤤
Bacon on mini sausages? How can it be bad? I thought it was delightful!
Meh. The puff pastry didn’t really ‘seal’ for me even with the egg, so some came open. Tasted good, but presentation was ugly, lol.
I tried this recipe, but I used hot dogs instead. Still turned out amazing! LOL
I dunno, using hot dogs instead seems kinda weird. I thought the bacon was the best part!
Hot dogs?! That’s a real twist on the classic. I might just have to try that myself! Glad it turned out well for you!
Turned out great! The puff pastry got super golden and flaky, and the bacon stayed nice and crisp. I served with mustard and it was gone fast.
Um. What’s the puff pastry? Do you use normal pastry? Asking for a friend lol.
I don’t know…it feels like too much bacon? Sausages kinda overpower the pastry.
I don’t get why everyone loves these. They were okay but just a bit greasy for my taste.
These are sooooo good! I made them for the game and they were the hit of the party!
Haven’t tried it yet. What’s a good sauce? Thinking ranch maybe?
Ranch could work, but I think a BBQ sauce would be amazing! Adds a nice sweet touch.
I dunno about ranch. Maybe try honey mustard or sriracha instead? Sounds better?
I followed it pretty much exactly, and it came out golden in about 22 minutes. I served it with honey mustard and they were gone fast.
I followed it pretty much exactly, but mine took closer to 30 minutes. Still delicious though—would make again. Next time I’ll maybe slice the bacon a little thinner.
Totally get that—mine took around 25-30 too. Puff pastry browns fast but bacon can lag. Delicious either way. Great tip on slicing the bacon thinner!
Why use puff pastry? Just wrap em in bacon and be done. Save dough!
Nah man, just bacon is enough! Puff pastry is too fancy for me! 🤷♂️
Bacon is great, but the puff pastry adds a nice flaky texture! Don’t knock it till you try it! 😋
I dunno… seems kinda complicated for a snack. Don’t know if I’ll try it.
Complicated? Nah, it’s just bacon and sausages! You just roll n’ bake. Maybe give it a shot, it’s worth it! 😉
I get why you think that! But it’s actually pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Just follow the steps, and you’ll be fine! 😄
These came out PERFECTly golden. The puff pastry flaked like crazy, and the bacon stayed nice and crispy. I used spicy mustard for dipping and omg—great combo.
They look good but I burned mine, so sad! Maybe lower the temp next time? 🔥
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that. Lowering the temp could help for sure. Maybe try 375°F next time? 😅
Burnt foods are the worst! But hey, it happens to the best of us. Just gotta keep practicing, right?
lol this is just like pigs in blanket but with bacon sooo,,,,
Haha, true! It’s like the fancy version of pigs in a blanket! Can’t wait to try it with bacon!
I followed the steps exactly but mine got a bit soggy on the bottom. Maybe my parchment was too wet? Still tasty though.
I made this for my kid’s birthday and they disappeared! Will make again for sure!
Why do they always say “favorite dipping sauce” lol. I used ketchup and it worked. Also, the puff pastry strips were hard to cut evenly, but it still cooked fine.
Bland dipping sauce ruins it. Use something with tang or heat—otherwise it’s just pastry and meat. Still, I’d make it again.
Totally agree—without a tangy dip it’s kinda flat. I do a quick mustard-maple or spicy mayo situation and it makes all the difference.
I dunno, I just use ketchup lol. It’s sweet and spicy enough for me. Maybe I’m missing the “tang” thing? Still good though.
Can you use regular sausage? I don’t see why we need the mini ones.
Soo good!!
Pretty solid. Mine took closer to 28 minutes at my oven, but they were perfect when the pastry was properly golden. I also halved the sausages and it made them bite-size.
Mine didn’t get golden at 20-25, so I ended up doing longer too. Also I didn’t have cocktail sausages so I used regular ones and kinda messed up the wrapping—still tasty though. Might try your bite-size idea next time.
Glad they turned out! 28 minutes makes sense—ovens run different. Golden pastry is the real tell anyway. Halving the sausages for bite-size is genius too.
Pretty solid recipe. I would say check at 18 minutes because my pastry browned faster than expected. Still tasted great though!
