Chinese Beef and Scallion Breakfast Wrap

August 9, 2023

Start your day with a flavorful, savory twist on your usual breakfast with a Chinese Beef and Scallion Breakfast Wrap. This delicious wrap brings together tender beef, fragrant scallions, and a touch of soy sauce for a satisfying breakfast that’s far from ordinary. If you’re looking to break free from the usual eggs and toast, this wrap delivers an exciting, savory alternative that’s perfect for those who enjoy bold flavors from the very first bite.

The star of this wrap is the thinly sliced beef, typically marinated in a combination of soy sauce, garlic, and a hint of sugar to create a rich, umami-packed flavor. The beef is then sautéed until tender, soaking up the flavors of the marinade. Paired with freshly chopped scallions, which add a fresh and slightly pungent bite, the result is a flavorful filling that’s both comforting and energizing.

Wrapped in a soft, warm tortilla, this breakfast wrap is easy to hold and eat, making it perfect for busy mornings when you’re on the go. The savory beef and scallions are balanced by the soft texture of the wrap, while a drizzle of hoisin or chili sauce can add an extra layer of depth and spice if you like a little heat in the morning.

What makes this breakfast wrap so versatile is how easily it can be adjusted to your taste. You can add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra crunch and nutrition, or toss in some scrambled eggs if you prefer a more traditional breakfast component. A sprinkle of sesame seeds or a dash of black pepper adds an extra touch of flavor.

The Chinese Beef and Scallion Breakfast Wrap is perfect for anyone who enjoys a hearty, savory breakfast that’s packed with flavor and doesn’t require much prep time. It’s a great way to enjoy the comforting flavors of Chinese-inspired cuisine in a convenient, portable form.

Looks good, but why would you use oyster sauce? It’s not for everyone. Just sayin’.

I’m no chef but cooking beef is hard! I’m glad I gave this a shot though, kids ate it all!

Good flavor, but my beef took closer to 7-8 minutes to brown. Also, I wish the tortillas were warmed a bit longer so they didn’t crack when rolling.

1 lb beef thinly sliced is a lot for only 4 tortillas. If you actually do all of it, it becomes more like a taco situation lol. Flavor still good.

Yeah I totally get what you mean—1 lb meat for 4 tortillas is definitely a lot. But honestly I like it that way. It makes them super filling.

This is NOT how you make a breakfast wrap! It should have bacon! 1 star.

Five stars! But also—how do you roll these without spilling the egg?? I attempted and it looked… not pretty 😅 Tasted great anyway.

I honestly just couldn’t roll it without a mess either 😂 I think the eggs need to be cooked *less*? Like runny so it sticks, then you can smear it to seal the seam. Also tortillas matter—mine were too thick and broke. But glad it tasted good!

Haha I totally get that! I usually put the tortilla on a plate, add beef/egg in a short line near the edge, then tuck the sides in and roll tight—not too much filling. If the egg is still a little wet, it will try to escape, so I keep the scramble on the drier side.

Meh. My eggs cooked kind of dry (I scrambled too long). Flavor was okay but not mind-blowing. Wouldn’t repeat as-is.

Just wanted to say that I made this with chicken instead of beef and it turned out great! You can really use anything, I guess.

But like, isn’t chicken not even close to beef? 😕 Just stick to the recipe, people!

I tried this and it was okay but too salty for my liking. Maybe next time I’ll use less soy sauce.

1 lb of beef? That’s too much! I used like half and it was still filling!

I think 1 lb is just right! You can always save leftovers for later. Don’t wanna waste good beef!

Too salty! I used low sodium soy sauce and still found it overwhelming.

I didn’t find it salty at all! Maybe try reducing the soy sauce a bit next time? It might help.

So salty? I used regular soy sauce and it was fine. Are you sure you measured right?

I tried it but my beef came out tough. Maybe I cooked it too long? Not sure, but wasn’t a fan.

    1. 4 stars
Tough beef can happen if you cook it too long or at too high heat. Maybe try lowering the heat next time! Don’t give up!

Tried it and it was too salty for my taste! Maybe less soy sauce next time?

I totally get it! Soy sauce can be really overpowering. I usually use only 1 tbsp and it’s still tasty!

Great breakfast idea. But why beef? Can’t you use chicken instead? 🤔
