The burrito is one of the most iconic and beloved dishes in Mexican cuisine, known for its versatility, portability, and satisfying flavors. Whether you prefer it packed with seasoned meats, vegetarian fillings, or a combination of both, a burrito offers endless possibilities to suit your tastes. It’s a hearty, handheld meal that can be as simple or as elaborate as you like, making it perfect for everything from a quick lunch to a filling dinner.
At the core of a burrito is the large flour tortilla, which serves as a delicious wrap for a variety of ingredients. The fillings typically include seasoned meats like beef, chicken, or pork, but there are plenty of vegetarian options as well, such as beans, rice, and sautéed vegetables. The flavors of the fillings are enhanced by spices and seasonings like cumin, garlic, cilantro, and chili powder, creating a rich and savory taste that’s full of depth.
Rice, beans, and salsa are popular accompaniments, providing texture and balance to the burrito. The rice is often seasoned, making it a flavorful addition to the dish. The beans, whether black beans, pinto beans, or refried beans, add creaminess and substance. Salsa, whether mild or spicy, offers a fresh, tangy contrast to the richness of the other ingredients, and guacamole or sour cream adds extra creaminess for those who want a bit more indulgence.
The best part about burritos is how customizable they are. You can load them up with your favorite toppings and fillings or keep them simple for a lighter meal. Cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes are popular choices, but you can also add hot sauce, pickled jalapeños, or even grilled vegetables for extra flavor. For a heartier version, try adding a fried egg, avocado, or even crispy bacon.
Burritos can be enjoyed in various ways, whether you’re eating a traditional Mexican burrito, a breakfast burrito with eggs and bacon, or a giant “California-style” burrito packed with French fries or other unique fillings. Whether served as a quick meal on the go or as part of a bigger feast, burritos can be made to match your exact craving.

Instructions
- Lay one tortilla on a flat surface.
- Add a quarter of each ingredient (rice, beans, cheese, chicken, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and lettuce) in the center of the tortilla.

The ingredient list is good, but I felt like 1 cup lettuce was a bit random and watery. I should’ve dried it more. Still tasty overall.
These turned out so crispy on the outside—my whole family went back for seconds. The sour cream + salsa combo is chef’s kiss.
I dunno… this seems way too complicated for a burrito. You could just wrap it all up like a sandwich, right?
I just throw all the ingredients in and eat it like a salad! 😂
That’s one way to do it! 😂 I actually prefer it in a burrito form, but hey, whatever works for you!
But that’s not how you make a burrito! It’s supposed to be rolled up! 😬
These turned out so good—crispy on the outside and everything inside was perfectly balanced. I used a little extra salsa and it was amazing.
Meh, it was okay. I think I could’ve made it better myself.
I get what you mean! Burritos can be pretty basic but with the right spices, it can shine! 🌶️
I’m skeptical about the sour cream. Can I just skip it?
I hate cooking chicken for burritos so I used canned chicken and regretted it a little (dry). But overall idea works—just use decent chicken.
Yum! Next time I’ll try it with turkey instead of chicken. Thanks for the recipe!
Turkey? Doesn’t that get dry? Chicken is juicer, but okay I guess.
Great idea! Turkey is more healthy too. Can’t wait to hear how it turns out!
Simple and delicious! Perfect for busy weeknights.
These burritos are amazing! So easy to make and they taste delicious. My whole family loved them!
Too spicy for me, but my husband loved them! He’s a fan of anything spicy!
I followed it and the tortillas stayed kind of soft? Maybe I didn’t cook long enough—3 minutes per side felt fast. Flavor was fine though.
The ingredient list is huge but in a good way. Mine got a little messy when rolling, but the crunch in the pan fixed my life.
Totally agree—having a “big” ingredient list is what makes it feel like a real burrito. Also seam side down + skillet time is the move; I’ve had some get soggy before, but crisping them fixes everything.
These burritos are my new favorite! So easy to make and they taste amazing!
I totally agree! These burritos are just the best! I always add more beans though, yum!
They were okay, but they didn’t taste as good as I expected. Maybe I did something wrong?
I used beef instead of chicken because that’s what I had. They turned out great too! Who needs chicken anyway?
These burritos were a hit with my whole family! So easy to make! 🌯
Not gonna lie I was skeptical about putting lettuce inside. But it stayed crunchy-ish and the guac saved it. Weirdly good!
I mean, lettuce is usually for tacos right? But if it stayed crunchy-ish then fair 😂 I’d still warm it less next time tho.
Haha I get the skepticism—lettuce in a burrito sounds odd until you remember it’s basically like crunchy topping. Love that the guac helped it not get soggy!
I’m skeptical about “golden and crispy” only 3-5 minutes per side. Mine needed longer because my pan runs cool. Once I adjusted the timing it turned out okay.
Maybe my pan is the problem too, but 3-5 min never makes it crispy for me 😅. I usually add a little oil to the pan and cook longer like you said. Otherwise it comes out kinda soft and sad.
Totally agree—“3-5 minutes” feels optimistic. If the skillet isn’t really hot, the tortilla just steams. I’ve had better luck letting them go until you can actually hear them sizzle when you flip.
Burritos are overrated. Pfft.
I tried it once and the tortilla tore when rolling—probably because mine wasn’t warmed enough. Warming matters!
Burritos!!! Love them!!! ❤️
Good recipe, but I think it needs more spice. I added jalapenos and it was much better!
These burritos are the best! So easy to make and so delicious!
Too many ingredients for me. I just like beans and cheese.
I get it! Sometimes simple is better. But you can always leave out anything you don’t like. Beans and cheese are great on their own!
That’s boring! This recipe is so good with all the flavors. Adding more stuff makes it tasty, trust me!
I didn’t have salsa, so I used ketchup. Didn’t turn out great, but I guess that’s my fault.
Too much cheese? lol but hey, I did it anyway. 3-5 min per side is right—watch closely or they burn.
Not bad, but 1 cup of cheese plus 1 cup chicken is a lot—mine got messy when rolling. Still delicious though.
Yum! Made these for dinner last night and my kids loved them! Will definitely make again.
Who even eats beans? Yuck! I made it without and it was still okay.
Do you even need to cook the rice? Seems pointless 😕
Yeah, you do have to cook the rice! If not, it won’t be tasty at all. 🤷♂️
Easy to make but the chicken just drags it down. I prefer beef.
Why not use corn instead of beans? Beans are gross. But not bad recipe.
Not bad at all, but my tortillas got a little soggy before they browned. Next time I’ll make sure the fillings are drier and maybe toast the tortilla first.
Good call—sogginess is usually from the salsa/guac moisture. I sometimes pat the salsa a bit (or use less) and add a quick toast to the tortilla first. Also drying the beans/rice helps a lot.
5/5 if you love cheese. I used extra because life is short. Also I wish it said how hot the skillet should be, but still worked.
These burritos are amazing! My family loved them. 5 stars!
They were ok, but my burritos always fall apart. Is there a secret to keeping them wrapped well?
So glad to hear that! We love making these for family movie night.
Simple and honestly pretty hard to mess up. I used rotisserie chicken and it turned out great. Next time I might add some corn for extra sweetness.
Not gonna lie, I don’t trust recipes that say “quarter of each ingredient” like that’s totally equal. My portions were NOT equal 😅 but it was delicious anyway.
This burrito is so good! I added some hot sauce for a kick.
The ratios are good but my tortillas tore when I folded them. I think my tortillas weren’t warm enough—should’ve softened them longer.
I followed this recipe exactly but my burritos fell apart. Not sure what went wrong. Maybe I added too much stuff?
Didn’t have guacamole, but they still turned out good! Next time I’ll add more cheese.
Why do you put guacamole in them? It’s better on the side, trust me. Just saying.
I totally disagree! Guac in the burrito adds such a creamy texture. On the side just doesn’t cut it for me!
Honestly, I think putting guac inside is wasteful. It makes a mess! Better to dip for sure.
I don’t trust any recipe that says “serve warm and enjoy” with no other tips 😂 How do you keep it from bursting? Also my cheese burned slightly.
Meh, I tried it and it was just OK. I thought it would be more flavorful. Kids didn’t even want to eat it.
Yum!
Burrito is just the same as taco, what’s the difference? 🤔
Didn’t work for me. The burritos kinda fell apart when I flipped them… maybe my skillet was too hot. Won’t try the crispy step again.
Seven different fillings feels like overkill… like where does the burrito even fit? Still, I guess it’s fun. Wouldn’t change the skillet crisping method.
Yeah I get what you mean—7 fillings is chaos 😅 But I’ve done it and the burrito is still fine if you don’t overstuff each quarter. The skillet crisping is the real win.
Overkill? maybe… but if you roll it tight it fits. i do like 5 things tho. queso would make it better. still crisp on both sides is correct.
These look super filling—love the mix of rice, beans, salsa, and all the toppings. The skillet step makes them way better than just folding. I’m definitely trying it!
It’s a burrito. How hard can it be? Can we call this a recipe?
The amount of cheese is perfect. When it melts and browns in the pan? Chef’s kiss. My whole family asked for seconds.
Not gonna lie, I was lazy and microwaved the tortillas instead of “warmed,” and they still worked. The skillet sear is the real magic though.
I don’t know, I think the recipe is missing something. Maybe more spices? I added some taco seasoning and it was better.
I totally agree! A little more seasoning would have made it pop even more. Also tried with some cumin and it was delish!
But isn’t it a little too much with all that stuff? I mean, the original recipe seems good as it is. Taco seasoning? I dunno…
Is salsa really necessary? I’m not a fan. Just used cheese and beans.
No way! Too many ingredients! It’s just a burrito!!
But isn’t a burrito just rice and beans? Why all the fancy stuff? Lol
I actually like a lot of ingredients in my burrito! It makes it more filling and tasty! 😋
These burritos hit the spot. I tossed the chicken with a little cumin and chili powder and it made a huge difference. Crisp outside + melty inside = perfect.
Hmm I like burritos, but I feel like “a little cumin and chili powder” is missing the whole point 😅 Also, are you using sour cream and guac inside or just for topping? Mine gets kinda soggy if I add everything at once.
Yes!! That crisp outside + melty inside combo is exactly what I look for. I’ve been trying to dial in the seasoning too—cumin + chili powder sounds spot on. I’m making these again this week.
I followed it exactly except I used monterey jack. The golden/crispy skillet step is the whole vibe. Will make again.
I don’t like lettuce in my burritos, so I just skipped it. Still good with just the chicken and cheese.
Lettuce is a weird part of burritos anyway! Chicken and cheese sound yummy, that’s what I would do too!
I made these for a party and they were gone in minutes! Will definitely make again!
5/5 would eat again. Also the proportions are actually nice—each bite had rice, beans, chicken, cheese… you know, actual burrito things.
I tried it once and mine got soggy—maybe I didn’t cook it long enough on the skillet. Still tasty though! Would add extra salsa next time, but proportions seem solid.
Right?? The “actual burrito things” is so real—nice balance, and the crispy seam side is key. I’m stealing this for my next weeknight meal 😂
Pretty solid and straightforward. My only issue was the tortillas split a tiny bit, probably because I overfilled or didn’t warm them long enough. Still delicious though.
Yeah that makes sense—overfilling or not warming the tortillas enough can make them split right at the folds. Next time try warming them a bit longer (or 5–10 sec in the microwave) and go a touch lighter on the filling so they stay flexible. Glad they were still delicious though!
Burrito madness!! I added extra guac and it was AMAZING!
Honestly these are restaurant-level. Crisped seam side down like the instructions said and they held together way better than my usual burritos.
Honestly pretty solid. The ingredient list is simple, but I wish the instructions said how to prevent the tortillas from tearing when folding. Still, mine came out golden and tasty.
Glad yours turned out golden! Yeah I feel you on the tortilla tearing—what helped me was warming them longer so they’re pliable, and folding the sides gently before rolling. Also don’t overfill the center too much or it’ll split when you tuck it in.
Honestly, I thought these would be better. The rice felt a bit dry.
Meh, I just slapped some stuff in a tortilla, but it was ok.
Super simple recipe! I love how quick it is. Perfect for weeknight dinners. Thanks!
Totally agree! It’s such an easy recipe. I made it last night and my family loved it! 😍
I used canned beans (rinsed) and it still came out great. 10/10 for weeknights—no complicated steps.
That’s exactly how I like burritos too—quick and forgiving. I’m always nervous about canned beans but rinsing makes a huge difference. 🔥
Hmm I tried this and mine was kinda soggy… I think my salsa was too watery and I didn’t let the skillet get hot enough. But the flavor was still good. Maybe 8/10?
I’m skeptical about the “quarter of each ingredient” part—seems like a lot of wet stuff. But it actually worked.
Too many ingredients! I just want a simple burrito.
5 stars cuz i like burritos. also i didnt have guacamole so i used mashed avocado—still worked i think
Solid base recipe. I added a little cumin and garlic powder to the chicken because plain chicken felt kinda… meh, but the build method is great.
I love burritos! But where’s the beef? This recipe is missing meat options.
I dunno, but chicken is good too. I mean, who needs beef when you’ve got all that cheese?
You can totally add beef if you want! Just cook it up and throw it in there. More meat = more yum!
Wow, super easy and filling. My picky kid ate two and asked for more. I’ll keep this recipe.
Simple and actually pretty solid. I followed it pretty much exactly—couldn’t believe how fast they cooked when they’re seam side down.
Burrito time! 🌯
Simple and tasty! Will definitely make again!
I agree! These burritos are super easy to make and taste great!
Can you make this in advance or does it get soggy? Asking for a friend.
I made these and the tortilla stayed soft on my first try. I think my skillet wasn’t hot enough—3-5 minutes felt too short at medium heat. Second round was way better.
Nice! Totally agree about the skillet—medium heat can be deceiving. I usually go closer to 6-8 min if I want that crisp-golden thing.
I like the basic structure but it’s missing seasoning. The beans and rice tasted a little plain until I added salt and taco seasoning. Otherwise, easy and filling.
This is basically just a wrap. Why call it burrito?
That’s a wrap y’all! But real burritos have beans and stuff, I’d call it a lazy burrito.
It’s a burrito because it’s wrapped! Just because it’s simple doesn’t mean it can’t be called one. 😄
I tried this and the burritos fell apart 😭 maybe my tortillas were too small or I didn’t fold tight enough. Flavor was good but presentation wasn’t.
I dunno, they were a bit bland for my taste. Needs more spice!
I totally agree! A little cayenne or some jalapeños can really kick it up a notch. You should try adding some hot sauce next time!
But, like, isn’t burrito suppose to be sort of mild? I think why not just add some flavor after, like hotter salsa?
These burritos are such a solid weeknight meal. The combo of salsa + sour cream + guac makes everything taste fresh, and browning them in the skillet really upgrades the texture.
Yum! Can’t get enough of these. My go-to recipe!
I messed up the folding part and it fell apart 😭. Gonna try again!
My kids loved it! They even helped mix the fillings. Great recipe!
Sounds yummy! My kids are picky, but this might win them over. Thanks for sharing!
Followed it pretty much exactly. I used leftover chicken and it came out great—crispy outside, melty inside. I might add a pinch of cumin next time though.
I followed it, but mine got soggy—probably because I used too much salsa. Also, 3-5 minutes per side felt short for my stove.
The guacamole + sour cream combo is kinda rich 😅 I liked it, but I’d cut sour cream in half for my taste.
Totally get you 😄 sour cream can make it super heavy. Cutting it down (or swapping in plain Greek yogurt) is a great move!
I think the sour cream is the whole point tho. If you cut it in half it won’t taste right… or maybe I’m wrong? 😅
I don’t know why it says to cook them in a skillet. I just use the microwave and it’s fine.
I made these exactly as written and they were so satisfying. The skillet step really makes the tortillas crispy—restaurant vibes.
Honestly, pretty easy to follow. But I like spicy, so added jalapeños.
Super easy weeknight meal. I used leftover rice and rotisserie chicken and it tasted way better than I expected.
Totally agree—using leftover rice + rotisserie chicken makes it way faster and tastier. I do the same thing, and mine always comes out crispy on the outside. 🔥
Wow. My family devoured these. I doubled the salsa and it stayed balanced with the sour cream—no soggy mess.
I’m skeptical about the “3–5 minutes per side” part—mine took longer to get golden. Also I think 1 cup guacamole is way too much, it made it a bit messy. But flavor was good.
Totally get you—3–5 min can be way too short depending on your pan heat. Mine took closer to 7 because the tortilla was thicker.
I followed it exactly and it was good, but my tortillas got a little soggy inside after a few minutes. Maybe I should toast them longer before serving?
1 cup salsa per burrito seems like… a lot? I did it anyway and now my hands are always gonna be salsa-y lol.
Pretty solid! I swapped the chicken for leftover steak and added a little extra salsa. Next time I’ll use a bit less sour cream so it doesn’t get messy.
Why would you put sour cream and guac inside before crisping? Mine basically melted into a mess… Won’t make like this again.
Honestly, 3–5 minutes per side is perfect. I like them golden and a little blistered. Would make again.
Yes! Golden and a bit blistered is exactly how I like them too—3–5 min per side really hits that crispy spot.
I’m skeptical about cooking them in a skillet after assembling—mine started to leak salsa and it got messy. Flavor was still decent though.
I added some corn and it was great! Never thought to put corn in burritos.
I tried it but my burritos got soggy after cooking. I think it was too much salsa and not enough draining on the beans? Next time I’ll pat things dry and maybe cook longer.
Ugh, soggy burritos are the worst 😅 I think you’re spot on—1 cup salsa for 4 tortillas can make them pretty wet. Next time I’d use a bit less salsa (or serve it on the side) and make sure the beans are really dry. Also, when you cook them seam-side down, press lightly so the filling settles—should help them crisp.
These burritos are amazing! My kids loved them.
Okay but like… I didn’t have guacamole so I swapped avocado mayo and it was kinda weird. Still ate it all, so yeah.
I make burritos all the time, but this seems way too easy. Are you sure it works? Like, are the instructions legit? 🤔
These came out super crispy on the skillet and the filling ratio was spot on. I added a squeeze of lime and it was perfect.
Yes! The skillet crisp is everything. I’ve been doing a little squeeze of lime too and it totally wakes up the salsa/beans. Spot on call with the filling ratio 😄
I followed the instructions exactly, but my tortillas just wouldn’t crisp up. Maybe my skillet wasn’t hot enough.
Mine never crisped either. I think it’s the tortillas—if they’re too soft or old they won’t brown right. I tried medium too long and still meh. Maybe try higher heat, but watch so they don’t burn.
That sounds frustrating—if it’s not getting golden, your skillet may be too cool. I usually go a bit hotter than medium and press them lightly after flipping. Also make sure the seam side goes down first so it seals and browns.
Not sure about the proportions—1 cup rice + 1 cup beans + 1 cup cheese + 1 cup chicken sounds like a lot for 4 tortillas, even dividing in quarters. I had extra filling and the wrap was messy.
Yeah I totally get that. With 1 cup rice + 1 cup beans + 1 cup chicken + 1 cup cheese, that’s a LOT of filling for just 4 tortillas. Even though the recipe says “a quarter of each,” it can still feel overflowing. I usually cut back the cheese and rice a bit so they roll cleaner.
I think it’s supposed to be pretty generous—like big hearty burritos 😅 But if yours were messy, try using smaller portions or adding lettuce at the very end so it doesn’t slide. Also warm the tortillas well so they fold without tearing.
Delicious! Made these for my family, and they all loved them. Will definitely make again.
Glad to hear your family enjoyed them! They’re my go-to for quick dinners. 🥳
I don’t know, burritos seem too messy. I prefer my food neat. 😕
These burritos are a great weekday fix. I like that you warm the tortillas first and then crisp them in the skillet—so much better than just microwaving. I added a little lime and it was 🔥.
Pretty solid and easy. I thought 1 cup lettuce per burrito was gonna be too much, but it actually balances the cheese/sour cream nicely.
Simple ingredients, great results. I like that it’s customizable—next time I’m swapping black beans for pinto and adding corn.
My guacamole kind of disappeared when I rolled them lol. Maybe I put too much in? But it tasted good, just messy.
That’s happened to me when the guac is a little loose—maybe your guacamole was extra creamy/wet. Next time try blotting it off with a paper towel or mixing it with a spoon of sour cream/rice to thicken. Also don’t overfill that center 😅
Nah you probably used the wrong amount of guac… like a whole cup is way too much for 4 tortillas. I’d do like 1/4 cup total, then it won’t explode when you roll lol. Messy is still tasty though!
I didn’t have lettuce so I used cabbage and it still slapped. Crispy outside, soft inside.
My burritos leaked salsa like crazy… I think I overfilled and didn’t fold tight enough. Flavor was on point, handling needs work.
Yeah, that happens—overfilling is sneaky. Next time try a little less salsa (or even drain it), and make sure you tuck the sides in tight before rolling. Also seam-side down like the instructions say helps keep everything together.
1 cup lettuce?! Bruh. I used like half a cup and it was plenty. Other than that, good flavor combo.
Haha fair point—1 cup lettuce is definitely “a lot” depending on how you shred it. I think the idea was just to keep it crunchy, but half a cup would probably be totally perfect.
Nah, 1 cup lettuce is way too much for my liking. I’d rather add more salsa or maybe some corn. But hey if you like it, go for it.
Super easy! I’m lazy so I used pre-shredded chicken and it still worked. Crispy outside, creamy inside. 10/10 would make again.
Love this! Using pre-shredded chicken is such a time-saver—glad it still came out crispy and creamy. Definitely trying your method.
Yum! Gonna try these this weekend! Looks super easy!
These came out perfectly crispy on the outside and still melty inside. I added a pinch of cumin to the filling and it made a huge difference.
Yes!! Crispy outside + melty inside is exactly how I like them. I love that you tried cumin—adds so much warmth to the filling.
Mine were pretty good, but I think I overfilled them, so they didn’t really get crispy. Also I used taco seasoning instead of cumin… maybe that’s why. Still tasted great though.
Honestly this felt a little bland until I added hot sauce and a squeeze of lime. Otherwise it’s an easy burrito assembly. Also my lettuce made everything soggy lol.
Totally get that—burritos can be kinda bland without some acid/heat. Hot sauce + lime sounds like the fix. And yeah, lettuce sogging is real… I usually add it right before rolling or keep it separate until eating.
Yum!
Okay, the ingredients list is basically my comfort food in burrito form. I’d eat this every week.
These came out so good—crispy outside, melty inside. I used leftover chicken and it was basically perfect comfort food.
That sounds amazing! Crispy outside + melty inside is exactly how I like burritos. Love the leftover chicken idea—definitely makes it more “comfort food” and less effort.
I tried something like this but mine got kinda soggy—maybe I used too much sour cream or didn’t cook long enough. Still tasted good though. Do you think medium heat is the key?
Simple and tasty! I used leftover chicken and it saved me so much time. Next time I might add corn or peppers.
Leftover chicken is the best—totally agree it saves a ton of time. Adding corn or peppers sounds amazing for some extra crunch and flavor. I’m stealing that idea 😄
I liked the filling ratios, but mine got a bit soggy. Next time I’ll warm the tortillas less and maybe drain the salsa more.
Totally feel you—soggy burritos usually come from too much moisture in the salsa/lettuce. I’ve started warming tortillas just until pliable, then I let the salsa sit in a strainer for a few minutes. Helps a lot.
I’m skeptical about “quarter of each ingredient” — that’s a lot of filling distribution to get right. Mine were a bit lopsided but still tasty.
Totally get you—“quarter of each ingredient” sounds like a math test mid-burrito 😅. I eyeball it too and mine are always a little lopsided but still delicious.
Seam side down was the key for me. I didn’t press hard enough at first, but once I did they held together perfectly.
Not bad, but my tortillas kept cracking when I rolled them. Next time I’ll warm them longer so they’re more flexible.
These came out perfect—crispy on the outside and still really packed inside. I used a little extra salsa because why not. Definitely saving this.
Yes!! Crispy outside burritos are the best. I also do the seam-side down—keeps everything together. Saving this too 🌯🔥
I tried it and mine didn’t get super crispy 😕 I think my skillet was too high? Also I used “extra salsa” like you and it was kinda messy, but still tasty. Maybe I’ll pat the beans/rice dry next time.
These burritos are amazing! So easy to make and super tasty. Definitely a family favorite now! 👍
Pretty straightforward and honestly hard to mess up. I didn’t have guacamole so I used avocado mash and it still slapped.
Right? Burritos are basically a choose-your-own-adventure. Avocado mash is close enough—if it tastes good, it counts. Crispy tortilla + melty cheese = win.
This is fine, but I don’t understand why lettuce is included inside. I’d rather put it on top so it doesn’t get warm and sad.
Totally get what you mean—lettuce can definitely go wilt-y in the skillet. I usually put mine on top or add it right at the end so it stays crisp.
Wow, this is the best burrito ever! I substituted chicken with beef and it worked so well! Yummy!
Burritos rock! Just make sure to use fresh ingredients. Mine turned out great!
Totally agree! Fresh ingredients make all the difference. I’m glad yours turned out great!
But how can you trust that the ingredients are fresh? I’ve had some bad experiences with store veggies.
Not sure about using BOTH guacamole and sour cream—felt kinda heavy. Still tasty though, just next time I’ll use less.
I followed it mostly, but my tortillas tore when I folded the sides. Maybe I didn’t warm them enough? Flavor was still good though, and the crispy outside is the best part.
Simple and actually works. My tortillas were a bit dry until I warmed them longer, but once I crisped them in the skillet, they held together great.
Yes!! Same here—warming a little longer makes a huge difference. Once I crisped them seam-side down, they didn’t fall apart at all. Great simple instructions.
Dry tortillas sound like user error lol. I just warmed mine like 30 seconds and they were fine… maybe your skillet was too hot? But crisping in the pan definitely helps hold everything together.
Why warm the tortillas? I skipped that and they tore. Lesson learned. Flavor was still great.
Way too much salsa for me personally—made it kinda soggy. Could be just my brand. Still ate them all tho 😅
Oof yeah too much salsa can make everything go mushy fast 😅 Next time I’d do half the salsa or warm it separately and spoon less.
Honestly didn’t love it. The burritos tasted a little bland until I added hot sauce, and 3-5 minutes wasn’t enough to crisp my pan.
3-5 min is way too short if your skillet isn’t ripping hot. Mine usually needs like 6-8 min till it actually gets that crunch. And yeah, tortillas + rice + beans + cheese can be pretty blah without more seasoning—hot sauce saved it for you, same here.
Hmm I get the bland part—this recipe is kinda “clean” on flavor. I usually cook the rice/beans with a little cumin/chili powder and add extra salsa in the burrito before crisping. Also 3–5 minutes per side depends on your pan; thicker tortillas or low heat can take longer.
Not sure about putting sour cream and guac in there with lettuce—seems like it might squish everything. Still, tasted good though.
I get what you mean, but the trick is to layer it and not overload—lettuce on top helps keep it from getting too soggy. Still, sour cream + guac together is elite.
Too much cheese maybe? I mean I love cheese but it got kinda greasy in the skillet. Still tasted okay tho. 3/5
Tbh 1 cup salsa + 1/2 cup sour cream + guac is a lot of wet stuff. My burrito leaked a bit. Next time I’ll drain the beans and go lighter on salsa.
Just made these—so good. The skillet crisping is the key. I used leftover chipotle chicken and it really elevated the salsa flavor.
Not bad, but I think the portioning is a little confusing—“a quarter of each ingredient” is a lot of measuring. Next time I’ll eyeball it. Still tasty though!
Bruh, “quarter of each ingredient” is a lot to measure. I eyeballed it and got uneven amounts. Still tasty, just not pretty.
