Amazing Blueberry Crisp

August 5, 2025

If you’re craving a simple dessert that celebrates the fresh taste of summer, this amazing blueberry crisp is the answer. With just a handful of pantry staples and fresh or frozen blueberries, you can create a warm, juicy, sweet treat that’s ready in under an hour.

Blueberry crisp is one of those desserts that feels rustic and homey, yet impressive enough to serve to guests. The filling is made with plump, sweet blueberries tossed with a bit of sugar, lemon juice, and a touch of cornstarch to thicken the juices as they bake. As the blueberries bubble and burst in the oven, they create a jammy base that’s perfectly balanced with the tart lemon and natural sweetness of the fruit.

But the real star here is the crisp topping. Made with oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter, it bakes into a golden, crunchy layer that contrasts beautifully with the soft fruit underneath. The topping gets irresistibly crispy around the edges while staying slightly chewy in the center, exactly what you want in a good fruit crisp.

You can serve it warm straight from the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for the ultimate comfort dessert. It’s just as good at room temperature, and leftovers (if there are any) make a great breakfast with a spoonful of yogurt.

This blueberry crisp is endlessly versatile too. Add a handful of chopped nuts to the topping for crunch, or mix in other berries like raspberries or blackberries for variety. And while fresh blueberries are fantastic during peak season, frozen ones work just as well, no need to thaw them first.

Whether you’re making it for a backyard BBQ, a family dinner, or a solo treat on a weeknight, this blueberry crisp is easy, delicious, and guaranteed to disappear fast. It’s the kind of dessert that never goes out of style.

  27. 1 star
I thought recipe meant chocolate but this ain’t no chocolate! Guess I failed to read it right. 😅

    1. User avatar ShanksOnePiece says:

      4 stars
Haha, it’s a blueberry crisp, not a chocolate brownie! But it sounds delicious anyway! 🍏

  28. User avatar eldon.jaskolski says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but I had trouble getting it to bake evenly. The bottom was kinda soggy. Any tips?

  29. 2 stars
Honestly? Too sweet for me, even with “to taste” sugar. I’d cut the granulated sugar next time and maybe add a pinch more cinnamon.

    1. User avatar cesar.mueller0 says:

      3 stars
Hmm I actually loved it being sweet 😅. But if it’s too much for you, maybe start with like 1/4 cup sugar not “to taste”? Also, I think 1 tsp cinnamon might be too much? Idk

    2. User avatar laurence.krajcik68 says:

      5 stars
Totally get it—blueberry desserts can swing sweet fast. Next time I’d try reducing the granulated sugar by half, and I like adding a bit more lemon zest too to balance it.

  30. 3 stars
Is it really 4 cups of blueberries? Seems like a lot! But I guess it’s a crisp…

  31. User avatar frankie.crooks1969 says:

    3 stars
Seems too easy. I feel like it won’t turn out as good as in the pictures.

  32. User avatar Setsuko Torp says:

    5 stars
OMG!!! This is soooo good!!! I made it twice this week! Will definetly make again, like my favorite dessert now. 🍰💙

  33. 1 star
Too many blueberries! Like, what about the crisp part? There needs to be more topping than fruit!

  34. User avatar kacy.hodkiewicz54 says:

    5 stars
Wow, I made this for a party and everyone raved about it! Thank you for sharing!

  35. 2 stars
Not sure how I feel about this. My crisp was super soggy. What did I do wrong?

    1. User avatar dante.paucek says:

      4 stars
Sounds like you may not have baked it long enough! The crisp needs to get nice and golden. Give it another try!

  36. User avatar roselee.quitzon2000 says:

    5 stars
Super easy! I made it using frozen blueberries and it was still great. Thx!
