On August 11, 2025, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a nationwide recall of a popular Dollar General coffee product due to the risk of glass contamination. The affected item is Clover Valley Instant Coffee, a product sold in many Dollar General stores across the country.
The recall began after a customer reported finding a potential glass issue in the product. While no injuries have been linked to the coffee, the FDA warns that ingesting glass could cause serious harm, such as broken teeth, cuts inside the mouth or throat, and internal injuries.
How to Identify the Recalled Coffee
The recall affects three specific lots of 8-ounce jars of Clover Valley Instant Coffee:
- Lot L-5163, Best By 12/13/2026
- Lot L-5164, Best By 12/13/2026
- Lot L-5165, Best By 12/14/2026
All recalled products share the UPC code 876941004069. The lot numbers and best-by dates are printed near the neck of each jar, making it easy for customers to check if their purchase is affected.
The coffee was sold between July 9 and July 21, 2025 in Dollar General stores across a wide range of states, including Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Texas, and many others. In total, the recall spans more than 40 states.
