More Information About the Listeria Outbreak
FSIS and public health officials are investigating a Listeria monocytogenes outbreak across 13 states, which has resulted in 17 illnesses, three deaths, and one fetal loss. While FSIS has not yet confirmed whether FreshRealm’s chicken fettuccine Alfredo is the cause, several individuals infected with Listeria have reported consuming the product. The recall is being issued as a precaution while the investigation continues.
If you have eaten the recalled chicken Alfredo, monitor yourself for signs of a Listeria infection. Symptoms can include fever, headache, muscle aches, neck stiffness, confusion, loss of balance, seizures, and digestive issues such as diarrhea or vomiting. Symptoms generally appear within two weeks of consuming contaminated food.
While most healthy people may not experience severe illness, Listeria can cause serious infections in older adults, pregnant individuals, and those with weakened immune systems, which can be fatal.
If you experience symptoms, contact your healthcare provider. For questions about the recall, FreshRealm’s customer service can be reached at 888-244-1562.
