The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall of salmon portions sold at Aldi stores. Santa Monica Seafood, based in Rancho Dominguez, California, voluntarily recalled its Atlantic Salmon Portions with Seafood Stuffing due to the presence of an undeclared soy allergen.
Soy is a major allergen, and the FDA requires it to be listed on food labels because exposure can lead to serious or even life-threatening reactions in individuals with soy allergies or sensitivities.
The issue was discovered during a routine label inspection by the supplier. As of now, no illnesses have been reported.
How to Identify Aldi Recalled Salmon
The Aldi recalled Salmon Portions with Seafood Stuffing were sold at Aldi locations in California, Nevada, and Arizona. The product is labeled under the Aldi brand.
The salmon comes in 16-ounce portions, marked as “Fresh Never Frozen Stuffed Salmon,” with a use/freeze-by date of June 2, 2025. You can find the product date code on the white section of the label beneath the product image. A photo of the packaging is available on the FDA’s recall page.
What to Do if You Have the Recalled Salmon
While the product should have been removed from Aldi’s refrigerated sections, customers may still have it at home. If you purchased the recalled Atlantic Salmon Portions with Seafood Stuffing, you can return it to Aldi for a full refund.
