On August 27, 2025, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a recall of Country Eggs, LLC Large Brown Cage Free Sunshine Yolks Eggs due to possible Salmonella contamination. These eggs were distributed to grocery stores and food service distributors in California and Nevada.
How to Identify the Recalled Eggs
Consumers can identify the recalled eggs by checking the following brand names, “sell by” dates, and codes:
- Nagatoshi Produce with “sell by” dates between July 1, 2025, and September 16, 2025, and code CA 7695
- Misuho with “sell by” dates between July 1, 2025, and September 16, 2025, and code CA 7695
- Nijiya Markets with “sell by” dates between July 1, 2025, and September 16, 2025, and code CA 7695
- Country Eggs Large Brown Sunshine Yolks in 1/15 dozen bulk packages with “sell by” dates between July 1, 2025, and September 16, 2025

What to Do if You Have These Eggs
So far, 92 Salmonella infections have been linked to the recalled eggs, though no deaths have been reported. Consumers should not eat these eggs. Instead, throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Anyone who has already eaten the recalled eggs should monitor for signs of Salmonella infection. Symptoms typically appear six hours to six days after eating contaminated food and may include diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and headache.
Salmonella can affect anyone, but young children, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of severe illness. In rare cases, the bacteria can enter the bloodstream, leading to serious complications such as arterial infections, endocarditis, or arthritis.
