Hostess Recalls Popular Snack

August 26, 2025

The J.M. Smucker Co. has issued a withdrawal notice for select Hostess Ding Dongs after discovering a potential risk of mold growth. These popular snack cakes were shipped to retailers nationwide, so consumers are being asked to check their pantry. Hostess recalls popular snack after discovering a manufacturing issue that could lead to mold growth.

How to Identify the Recalled Products
Look for the following product information to see if your Hostess Ding Dongs are affected:

  • 2-count Hostess Chocolate Ding Dong Single Serve (UPC: 8-88109-01002)
  • 10-count Hostess Chocolate Ding Dong (UPC: 8-88109-11061)
  • 16-count Hostess Chocolate Ding Dong Family Pack (UPC: 8-88109-11092)

All recalled packages have best-by dates of August 30, 2025, August 31, 2025, September 1, 2025, September 2, 2025, or September 3, 2025.

According to The J.M. Smucker Co., a mechanical issue during manufacturing created conditions that could allow mold to develop before the expiration date. The problem has since been corrected, and only five product lots were impacted. No other Hostess or Smucker products are included in this recall.

What Consumers Should Do
It is not yet confirmed whether these affected Ding Dongs reached store shelves, though Tops Markets has already notified shoppers. If you have any of these recalled products at home, do not eat them. The company recommends throwing them away or returning them to the store where they were purchased for a refund or replacement.

Following safety concerns, Hostess recalls popular snack varieties distributed nationwide.
