Virgin Mojito

June 10, 2025

A Virgin Mojito, the alcohol-free version of the classic Cuban cocktail, is more than just a refreshing drink for hot days – it’s also packed with ingredients that can support your well-being. Made with fresh mint, lime juice, soda water, and a touch of natural sweetener, this light and zesty beverage offers a surprising number of health benefits.

1. Hydration with a Twist

At its core, a Virgin Mojito is mostly water – especially when made with soda or sparkling water. Staying hydrated is essential for everything from energy levels and brain function to skin health. The natural citrus and mint flavors make it a tastier alternative to plain water, encouraging you to drink more throughout the day.

2. Mint for Digestion and Freshness

One of the key ingredients in a Virgin Mojito is fresh mint. This herb is well-known for its soothing properties and can help with indigestion, bloating, and nausea. Mint also has antimicrobial compounds that contribute to oral health, leaving you with fresher breath after every sip.

3. Lime for Immunity and Detox

Lime juice gives the Virgin Mojito its signature zing – and it also delivers a healthy dose of vitamin C, an essential nutrient for your immune system. The acidity in lime can aid digestion and may help with detoxification, supporting liver function and cleansing the body naturally.

4. Low in Calories, High in Flavor

Unlike sugar-laden sodas or creamy mocktails, a Virgin Mojito can be made with minimal or no added sugar, making it a smart choice for those watching their calorie intake. When sweetened with natural options like honey or stevia, it remains a guilt-free refreshment.

5. Mood-Boosting and Energizing

The combination of citrus and mint doesn’t just refresh your palate – it can uplift your mood and help combat fatigue. The aroma of mint has been shown to reduce stress and mental fatigue, while lime offers a natural energy boost.

Whether you’re at a summer picnic, hosting a brunch, or just craving something light and revitalizing, the Virgin Mojito is the perfect choice. It’s a flavorful, healthy drink that feels indulgent without any of the downsides.

  4. 2 stars
I dunno, this seems kinda boring. Just mint and soda water? What’s the hype?

  5. 3 stars
I tried it, but it was way too sweet for my taste. Should probably use half the sugar next time.

    1. User avatar sha.gleason says:

      4 stars
I agree, it was too sweet for me too! Half the sugar sounds perfect.

  6. 4 stars

Can someone tell me why we don’t strain it? Feels weird to drink all the mint leaves lol.

  10. User avatar marion.abbott6 says:

    4 stars
So easy to make! A great non-alcoholic option for summer gatherings.

  11. User avatar mickie.will26 says:

    3 stars
I found it a bit too sweet for my taste. Next time I’ll reduce the sugar. But still a good drink overall.

  12. User avatar murray.fahey12 says:

    2 stars
I don’t have mint leaves. Can I use mint flavored gum instead? 😂

    1. User avatar shad.luettgen says:

      4 stars
Haha, I guess you could try that! But I think real mint is better for the flavor. 🤔

  13. User avatar Ms. Irving Ritchie says:

    5 stars
Mint + lime = <3. Simple and Classic, just like me! Will make it again.

  14. User avatar tristan.wilderman64 says:

Cranberry juice? That’s a creative twist! I gotta try that. 🍹

  15. User avatar christene.marquardt says:

    2 stars
Looks good, but I never thought lime and mint could be a drink. My grandma used to make lime juice with sugar, so I dunno about this.

  16. User avatar carole.rath says:

    4 stars
Why no need to strain? Seems messy but I’ll give it a try. Maybe it’s for more flavor?

    1. User avatar blair.gislason11 says:

      5 stars
Yeah, I think not straining lets all the mint flavor infuse into the drink! It’s like a burst of freshness! Hope you enjoy it! 🍃

  17. User avatar temeka.hudson says:

    1 star
Waste of time! I mixed everything and it just tasted like soda. 🤷‍♂️

  18. 3 stars
I think it needs more sugar, felt kinda boring. Also, is mint leaves even good for your health?

  19. User avatar pearlene.vandervort68 says:

    4 stars
Tasted so good! I used sprite instead of soda water and it was delish! Can’t wait to make them again!

    1. User avatar Lumberjack says:

      5 stars
Using sprite sounds fun! I never thought about that, but now I’m curious to try it! 😄

    2. User avatar mavis.mills25 says:

      3 stars
I dunno about using sprite, isn’t that kinda too sweet? But good for you if you liked it!

  20. User avatar miss.grady says:

    2 stars
I don’t really get the point of this drink. It’s just carbonated water with some mint?

  21. User avatar aaron.stroman1950 says:

    2 stars
This recipe is too complicated, can’t just mix it all together? 🤷‍♂️

    1. User avatar nadia.beahan39 says:

      2 stars
I dunno, sounds like a lot of work for a drink. Just pour some soda, lime, and mint in a cup! Easy peasy. 🥤

    2. 4 stars
I get your point! But this is the traditional way to make it. Mixing everything won’t give the same flavor. 😅

  22. User avatar elsa.toy1972 says:

    2 stars
Mint leaves don’t taste good in my opinion. Can I just skip them and use sprite?

    1. User avatar chris.torp22 says:

      3 stars
Using Sprite instead of mint? That’s a bit odd! But if you like it that way, go for it! Just know it won’t be a true mojito anymore.

  23. User avatar ludivina.pfeffer says:

    3 stars
Can you use flavored soda instead of plain? Also, what’s a muddler? Sounds fancy!

  24. User avatar duncan.lynch6 says:

    5 stars
I made this for a party and everyone loved it! Will definitely make again!

    1. User avatar babette.ferry47 says:

I tried it but felt it was too sweet for my taste. Might cut down on the sugar next time.

  28. User avatar Lissandra says:

    1 star
This recipe is too simple. I like my drinks with more punch. 🙁

  29. User avatar nathaniel.wyman says:

    1 star
Mojito? More like no-jito, am I right? Lol, just didn’t do it for me.

  30. User avatar Katlyn Baumbach says:

    2 stars
I don’t know about this recipe. It sounds too complicated just for a drink. Why not just buy soda?

  31. User avatar jerry.huels3 says:

    1 star
Mojitos are supposed to have alcohol, what’s the point of this?!

  32. User avatar Felton Marvin II says:

    2 stars
I thought mojitos had rum? This is not what I expected… confused.

  33. User avatar Daedric Prince says:

  39. User avatar manie.parisian says:

Isn’t a mojito supposed to have alcohol? This feels weird without it.

    1. User avatar rafael.wolff76 says:

Mint leaves are the best! I added some strawberries to mine for a twist, yum!

  44. User avatar aleshia.heller32 says:

    2 stars
I tried making this but it just didn’t taste like the real thing. A bit too much mint for me.

    1. User avatar Oolon Colluphid says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean! Maybe it’s the amount of mint that’s throwing it off for you. You can try using less next time. Hope it turns out better!

No lime, no mint, just soda water… how is this a thing?

  52. 4 stars
    Minty fresh!

  53. User avatar karlene.kuhlman1956 says:

    3 stars
How many servings does this make? Looks good but I’m feeding a crowd.

    1. User avatar albert.larkin2000 says:

      3 stars
I think it’s just for 1, you might need to mix a lot of them. Just throw more lime n sugar, right?

    2. User avatar joanne.hauck47 says:

      5 stars
This recipe makes one serving, but you can easily multiply it by how many people you’re serving! Just keep the proportions the same. Enjoy!

  54. 3 stars
Too sweet! I think next time I’ll use less sugar. Also, why not use sparkling water instead?

  55. User avatar eartha.gerlach92 says:

    2 stars
I don’t get why people drink this. It’s just minty water. Not for me.

  56. 5 stars

It’s classic for a reason! Sometimes simple is all you need.

Easy recipe! Just make sure your mint is fresh. My kids love it! Definitely making it again.

  60. User avatar carlotta.heathcote52 says:

    4 stars
Really simple to make! I used sparkling water instead and it still turned out great! 😍

  61. User avatar janice.okeefe18 says:

    2 stars
I don’t get why you need to muddle twice. Seems pointless.

    1. User avatar abby.zemlak1971 says:

      5 stars
Muddling twice helps to get the full flavor out of the mint and lime. More flavor = better drink! 😊

    2. User avatar wilson.brakus96 says:

      2 stars
I mean, who really cares? Just muddle once and throw in the soda, it’s all the same, right?

  62. User avatar damian.deckow37 says:

    3 stars
Why use sugar when you could just add honey? #health

    1. 4 stars
Honey might be healthier but sugar gives it that classic taste! Just saying!

  63. User avatar rich.landlord says:

Is soda water the same as tonic water? I used tonic and it was gross 🤢.

    1. User avatar Prostetnic Vogon Kwaltz says:

      5 stars
Nope, soda water is different from tonic water! Tonic water has quinine, which gives it that bitter taste. I bet that’s why your drink was gross. Stick with soda water for a mojito!

    2. 3 stars
idk if soda water is same, but tonic water is yucky anyway. soda is better. maybe try just soda next time?

  66. 5 stars
Awesome recipe! Added some berries for a twist, turned out fab! 😍

  67. User avatar theron.bogan60 says:

    2 stars
Can’t we just buy it pre-made? Makes life easier, tbh.

  68. User avatar will.ward12 says:

    4 stars
Too much muddling! I accidentally splashed mint juice everywhere. Still tastes good tho.

  69. User avatar meagan.stanton6 says:

    3 stars
I dunno, it was okay but way too sweet for me. Might try less sugar next time.

    1. User avatar stanton.hamill says:

      2 stars
Less sugar? What does that even mean when it comes to a mojito? Lol, it’s supposed to be refreshing, not sour!

    2. User avatar ardath.reilly says:

      4 stars
I think it’s perfect the way it is! Maybe you just need to get used to the sweetness. But everyone has their own taste, I guess.

Meh. Just tastes like minty water. I was expecting more zing from the lime.
