Summer Berry Mojito

May 13, 2026

A summer berry mojito is a refreshing, fruity twist on the classic mojito cocktail, combining fresh berries with mint, lime, and sparkling soda for a light and vibrant drink. Perfect for warm weather, this cocktail is crisp, slightly sweet, and full of fresh, natural flavors that make it ideal for summer gatherings, barbecues, or relaxing evenings.

The foundation of a berry mojito is fresh mint and lime. Mint adds a cooling, aromatic freshness, while lime provides a sharp citrus brightness that balances the sweetness of the fruit. Together, they create the signature mojito base that feels clean and invigorating.

Berries are what give this version its colorful and fruity character. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, or blackberries can be used individually or mixed together for a richer flavor profile. When lightly muddled, the berries release their juices, blending with the mint and lime to create a naturally sweet and slightly tangy base.

A touch of sugar or simple syrup is often added to enhance the sweetness of the berries and balance the acidity of the lime. This step ensures the drink remains smooth and well-rounded without being overly sharp.

Traditionally, rum is the spirit used in a mojito, adding a subtle warmth and depth without overpowering the fresh ingredients. When combined with soda water, the drink becomes light, bubbly, and highly refreshing. The carbonation lifts the flavors and gives the cocktail its signature sparkle.

The texture of a summer berry mojito is one of its most appealing qualities. It is crisp, juicy, and slightly effervescent, with small bursts of fruit in every sip. The combination of muddled berries and mint leaves creates a visually appealing drink filled with vibrant reds, purples, and greens.

This cocktail is best served over ice in a tall glass, garnished with extra berries, mint sprigs, and a slice of lime for a fresh and elegant presentation.

In the end, the summer berry mojito is a perfect balance of fruitiness, freshness, and light sweetness. It captures the essence of summer in a glass, bright, refreshing, and effortlessly enjoyable.

I used gin instead of rum and it was still good! Just saying.

  2. User avatar steve.king19 says:

I thought it would be sweeter. Needs more syrup, I think.

    1. 3 stars
Nah, I disagree. It’s a mojito, not a dessert! The balance is what makes it refreshing! 🍃

    2. 4 stars
I think you’re right! A little more syrup could really make a difference. I loved this drink but did feel it was a bit tart!

I’m not a big fan of mint, can I just leave it out? 🤔

Not bad, but I’m not a rum fan. Maybe vodka would work? 🤷‍♂️

    1. User avatar sueann.donnelly95 says:

      4 stars
I think vodka could work, but it wouldn’t be the same vibe! Rum gives it that tropical feel! 🌴

  11. User avatar tonisha.lueilwitz90 says:

Is this even a real drink? Mojitos are supposed to be green, all these berries made mine look funny. 😕

  12. 4 stars
I used frozen berries and it was still great, just a bit more slushy. Next time I’ll strain the juice a tiny bit but overall very nice.

  13. User avatar bernie.stehr83 says:

Made this last night—super refreshing. The mint + berries combo is legit, and the club soda makes it feel extra light. I used a little more lime and it popped!

    1. User avatar Harry Abbott says:

      3 stars
Maybe I did something wrong, but mine tasted a bit too sour even with berries. I might be overdoing the lime juice—how much lime do you usually use?

    2. User avatar joe_banana says:

      5 stars
Yes!! The lime pop is everything. I’m glad the club soda kept it light—this is exactly why I love mojitos in summer.

  14. User avatar Eleonore Mohr says:

    5 stars
This is like sunshine in a glass. The mint + berries combo is super refreshing, and the club soda keeps it light. I used blackberries once and it still worked!

    1. 5 stars
Yes!! “Sunshine in a glass” is exactly right 😄 The club soda really makes it feel light and not too sweet. I’m making this tonight!

    2. User avatar kimi.will says:

      3 stars
I tried it but I muddled the mint way too hard and it turned kinda bitter… still tastes good though. Also I used lemon instead of lime once and it was fine? Not sure if that messes it up.

  15. User avatar cyril.watsica says:

    4 stars
So refreshing!! Perfect for hot days. I used agave syrup instead of simple syrup and it was great! 🍹

This tastes like summer in a glass. The mint + berries combo is so refreshing, and the lime juice really pops. I used a little extra berries and it was perfect.

Not sure why everyone is raving about this. It was okay, but I’ve had better mojitos… 🤨

  18. 2 stars
I didn’t have mint, so I just used basil instead. Not bad, but it tasted weird! LOL! 😂

  19. User avatar suspiciousCommentator says:

Followed the steps exactly and it turned out great. I used extra ice and stirred gently like the recipe says. Would make again for sure.

This recipe is a hit! I made it for my summer party and everyone loved it! 🌟

  22. User avatar myra.price62 says:

    2 stars
Honestly… the recipe doesn’t mention how much ice. I used a ton and it got watered down. Flavor was good though, just weaker than expected.

    1. User avatar lannie.zieme says:

      5 stars
Good point—ice amounts are annoyingly vague. I usually fill the glass most of the way with ice so it doesn’t get diluted as fast. Glad the flavor still came through though!

    2. User avatar boyd.oberbrunner says:

      3 stars
I think you used too much ice AND not enough stirring? Like, I did “fill with ice” and it was fine for me. Maybe your club soda was warmer? Either way, adding a ton of ice can definitely weaken it.

  23. User avatar so.mckenzie13 says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but my drink tasted kinda flat. I think I stirred too hard and lost the carbonation—next time I’ll be more careful with the club soda.

  24. User avatar erasmo.jacobi1978 says:

    3 stars
Am I the only one who thinks muddling mint is kinda overrated? I still followed it and it came out decent, but I’d maybe just stir the mint in next time.

  25. User avatar charles.cummerata76 says:

    3 stars
Not sure about the club soda amount—1 cup feels like a lot for only 2 oz rum. It’s refreshing, but more like a lime-berry spritzer than a mojito.

  26. User avatar Gail MacGyver says:

    5 stars
I made it for guests and everyone asked for the recipe. I was worried the 2 tbsp syrup would be too sweet, but it was perfect with the tart lime.

  27. User avatar Stan Marquardt says:

    5 stars
Honestly, the measurements are simple and it comes together fast. I made two batches and it didn’t last. Everyone asked for the recipe.

  28. 5 stars
This tastes like summer in a cup 😅. I didn’t have mixed berries so I used just strawberries, still worked. Would absolutely make again for guests.

  29. User avatar sal.wintheiser1951 says:

    3 stars
I’m skeptical about the simple syrup amount—felt a little sweet to me. But overall it was refreshing and the rum flavor came through nicely.

  30. User avatar desire.turner9 says:

    3 stars
Ok but why muddle berries and mint together? I feel like the mint overpowers everything. Still drank it, but wouldn’t call it perfect.

  31. User avatar Gail Andrews says:

    3 stars
Mine got kinda foamy and the berries were floating weirdly. I might’ve muddled too hard? Flavor was good, just not the prettiest look.

    1. User avatar Spider Soldier says:

      4 stars
Happened to me once too—if you muddle super hard the berries can break up more and the foam/floaty bits show up. Next time I’d muddle just 10–15 seconds, then add the ice first and pour the club soda slowly so it doesn’t get all worked up. Glad the flavor still came out good!

  32. User avatar Zaphod Beeblebrox says:

    4 stars
Not bad at all. I muddled a bit too hard and it turned slightly bitter, but still tasty. Next time I’ll go gentle with the mint.

    1. User avatar Sadie Schowalter says:

      4 stars
That bitter note sounds like the mint got over-muddled—totally agree, going gentle makes a huge difference. Glad it was still tasty though! 🍃

    2. User avatar rigoberto.legros15 says:

      3 stars
I tried muddling mint once and it went bitter too. I still don’t think it’s the mint though—maybe your berries were too ripe? Either way, next time less mashing!

  33. User avatar buster.ullrich86 says:

    2 stars
Not convinced. 1 ounce lime juice feels like it could be too sour, and I had to add more syrup. I’d tweak it next time.

    1. User avatar Duncan Idaho says:

      4 stars
Totally fair—1 oz lime can be pretty punchy, especially depending on how juicy/sour your limes are. Adding more syrup makes sense. I usually start a touch lighter and adjust.

  34. User avatar julia.barrows46 says:

    2 stars
Meh. I feel like it needs more rum or less club soda. By the time it sat for a few minutes, the flavor faded.

  35. User avatar angelina.cole29 says:

    4 stars
Club soda at the end is the move. I tried once without chilling it and it wasn’t the same. Chilled makes it cleaner tasting.

  36. User avatar gil.casper35 says:

    4 stars
Pretty good overall, but I think it needs a little more mint. I muddled gently like the recipe says, but I wanted it bolder.

  37. User avatar johnie.gutkowski2005 says:

    1 star
Why club soda *after* ice? Wouldn’t it get watery? I’m probably missing something, but I’d rather mix it in the beginning.

  38. User avatar Piter De Vries says:

    5 stars
    So good!

  39. User avatar Carolynn Ullrich says:

    2 stars
I tried it but I didn’t have simple syrup, so I used sugar + water and uh… it wasn’t the same. Tasted okay but meh.

    1. User avatar virgil.harvey56 says:

      3 stars
Honestly I’ve replaced it with straight honey before and it still tasted fine to me 🤷‍♂️ But sugar + water can be too watery if you don’t get the ratio right. Next time maybe use more sugar?

    2. User avatar ALTplusF4 says:

      4 stars
Ah yeah, simple syrup is kind of key for that smooth sweetness. If you’re doing sugar + water, try simmering it a bit until fully dissolved (1:1 sugar to water) and let it cool—otherwise it can taste grainy or off.

  40. User avatar ty.murphy95 says:

    5 stars
5/5!! So good. Perfect summer drink. Next time I’m doubling the berries lol

  41. User avatar Cherelle Johnston says:

    4 stars
I’m not usually a mojito person, but the fruit makes it way nicer. Simple syrup might be a little much if your berries are already sweet—still tasty though.

    1. 5 stars
Agree! I’m kinda picky with mojitos too, but adding berries makes it feel fresher and less “menthol-y.” I actually skip the simple syrup unless the berries are super tart.

    2. User avatar Alia Atreides says:

      3 stars
Simple syrup a little much? idk, i always use it even with sweet berries, else it tastes too sour to me. Also i muddle the mint more than the instructions say—like really mash it. Might be why mine is strong lol.

  42. User avatar elanor.crooks says:

    2 stars
Lol I accidentally muddled the mint too hard and it was super grassy. Still drank it but like… regret. Won’t do that again.

  43. User avatar marvin.hagenes24 says:

    2 stars
Only thing I changed: I used lemon juice instead of lime because I ran out. Totally different vibe though—still refreshing, just not the same.

    1. 5 stars
Ooo I can totally see that—lemon vs lime is a whole different mood. Still sounds refreshing though. 🍋✨

  44. User avatar edmund.schinner47 says:

    4 stars
The muddling step is everything. If you don’t press the mint gently, it turns bitter. I learned that the hard way, lol.

  45. User avatar Buster Yost says:

    4 stars
Good balance, not too sweet. I was worried about the simple syrup, but it’s just right. Would definitely make again for a backyard hang.

  46. User avatar Mrs. Trinity Thiel says:

    5 stars
This is dangerously refreshing. The muddled mint and berries smell amazing, and the rum is perfectly balanced—didn’t overpower the lime.

  47. User avatar Antony Auer says:

    2 stars
Rum measured wrong on my side (used 3 oz 😅). It was strong and a little too boozy, but honestly still tasty. I guess I’ll blame the overconfidence.

    1. User avatar everett.hermiston says:

      4 stars
Honestly that’s still a win—boozier mojitos are kinda the fun version 😅 Next time maybe do 2 oz rum and just add more later by taste.

  48. User avatar louis.wilderman38 says:

    3 stars
I followed the steps, but mine came out kinda sharp—like too much lime? Maybe my limes were super strong. Still tasty though.
