Summer Berry Mojito

May 13, 2026

A summer berry mojito is a refreshing, fruity twist on the classic mojito cocktail, combining fresh berries with mint, lime, and sparkling soda for a light and vibrant drink. Perfect for warm weather, this cocktail is crisp, slightly sweet, and full of fresh, natural flavors that make it ideal for summer gatherings, barbecues, or relaxing evenings.

The foundation of a berry mojito is fresh mint and lime. Mint adds a cooling, aromatic freshness, while lime provides a sharp citrus brightness that balances the sweetness of the fruit. Together, they create the signature mojito base that feels clean and invigorating.

Berries are what give this version its colorful and fruity character. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, or blackberries can be used individually or mixed together for a richer flavor profile. When lightly muddled, the berries release their juices, blending with the mint and lime to create a naturally sweet and slightly tangy base.

A touch of sugar or simple syrup is often added to enhance the sweetness of the berries and balance the acidity of the lime. This step ensures the drink remains smooth and well-rounded without being overly sharp.

Traditionally, rum is the spirit used in a mojito, adding a subtle warmth and depth without overpowering the fresh ingredients. When combined with soda water, the drink becomes light, bubbly, and highly refreshing. The carbonation lifts the flavors and gives the cocktail its signature sparkle.

The texture of a summer berry mojito is one of its most appealing qualities. It is crisp, juicy, and slightly effervescent, with small bursts of fruit in every sip. The combination of muddled berries and mint leaves creates a visually appealing drink filled with vibrant reds, purples, and greens.

This cocktail is best served over ice in a tall glass, garnished with extra berries, mint sprigs, and a slice of lime for a fresh and elegant presentation.

In the end, the summer berry mojito is a perfect balance of fruitiness, freshness, and light sweetness. It captures the essence of summer in a glass, bright, refreshing, and effortlessly enjoyable.

I used gin instead of rum and it was still good! Just saying.

I thought it would be sweeter. Needs more syrup, I think.

    1. 3 stars
Nah, I disagree. It’s a mojito, not a dessert! The balance is what makes it refreshing! 🍃

    2. 4 stars
I think you’re right! A little more syrup could really make a difference. I loved this drink but did feel it was a bit tart!

I’m not a big fan of mint, can I just leave it out? 🤔

Not bad, but I’m not a rum fan. Maybe vodka would work? 🤷‍♂️

I think vodka could work, but it wouldn’t be the same vibe! Rum gives it that tropical feel! 🌴

Is this even a real drink? Mojitos are supposed to be green, all these berries made mine look funny. 😕

Made this last night—super refreshing. The mint + berries combo is legit, and the club soda makes it feel extra light. I used a little more lime and it popped!

    1. User avatar Harry Abbott says:

      3 stars
Maybe I did something wrong, but mine tasted a bit too sour even with berries. I might be overdoing the lime juice—how much lime do you usually use?

    2. User avatar joe_banana says:

      5 stars
Yes!! The lime pop is everything. I’m glad the club soda kept it light—this is exactly why I love mojitos in summer.

So refreshing!! Perfect for hot days. I used agave syrup instead of simple syrup and it was great! 🍹

Not sure why everyone is raving about this. It was okay, but I’ve had better mojitos… 🤨

  15. 2 stars
I didn’t have mint, so I just used basil instead. Not bad, but it tasted weird! LOL! 😂

Honestly… the recipe doesn’t mention how much ice. I used a ton and it got watered down. Flavor was good though, just weaker than expected.

    1. User avatar lannie.zieme says:

      5 stars
Good point—ice amounts are annoyingly vague. I usually fill the glass most of the way with ice so it doesn’t get diluted as fast. Glad the flavor still came through though!

    2. User avatar boyd.oberbrunner says:

      3 stars
I think you used too much ice AND not enough stirring? Like, I did “fill with ice” and it was fine for me. Maybe your club soda was warmer? Either way, adding a ton of ice can definitely weaken it.

This tastes like summer in a cup 😅. I didn’t have mixed berries so I used just strawberries, still worked. Would absolutely make again for guests.

  20. User avatar sal.wintheiser1951 says:

I’m skeptical about the simple syrup amount—felt a little sweet to me. But overall it was refreshing and the rum flavor came through nicely.

  21. User avatar desire.turner9 says:

    3 stars
Ok but why muddle berries and mint together? I feel like the mint overpowers everything. Still drank it, but wouldn’t call it perfect.

  22. User avatar Zaphod Beeblebrox says:

    4 stars
Not bad at all. I muddled a bit too hard and it turned slightly bitter, but still tasty. Next time I’ll go gentle with the mint.

    1. User avatar Sadie Schowalter says:

      4 stars
That bitter note sounds like the mint got over-muddled—totally agree, going gentle makes a huge difference. Glad it was still tasty though! 🍃

    2. User avatar rigoberto.legros15 says:

      3 stars
I tried muddling mint once and it went bitter too. I still don’t think it’s the mint though—maybe your berries were too ripe? Either way, next time less mashing!

  23. User avatar angelina.cole29 says:

    4 stars
Club soda at the end is the move. I tried once without chilling it and it wasn’t the same. Chilled makes it cleaner tasting.
