Radish and Avocado Toast with Chili Flakes

April 24, 2025

Radish and avocado toast with chili flakes is a fresh and flavorful twist on the classic avocado toast. This dish offers the perfect balance of textures and flavors, making it an ideal breakfast, snack, or light lunch. The creamy avocado pairs beautifully with the crunchy radishes, while the chili flakes add a burst of heat, turning this simple meal into something extraordinary.

To start, choose a hearty slice of your favorite bread. Sourdough, rye, or multigrain are all excellent options, as they provide a solid base that can hold up to the toppings. Toast the bread to your desired level of crispness, creating a golden, crunchy layer that will complement the creamy avocado and crunchy radishes. Once the bread is toasted, spread a generous layer of ripe, mashed avocado on top. The rich, buttery texture of the avocado acts as the perfect canvas for the other ingredients.

Next, slice the radishes thinly. Radishes add a mild, peppery flavor and a satisfying crunch that contrasts nicely with the smooth avocado. Their slight sharpness pairs perfectly with the creaminess of the avocado, creating a delightful texture combination. Arrange the radish slices evenly over the avocado, making sure each bite has a bit of the peppery bite from the radish.

The finishing touch is the chili flakes. A pinch of chili flakes sprinkled on top adds the perfect amount of heat, enhancing the natural flavors of both the avocado and radishes. The heat from the chili creates a vibrant contrast, making each bite more exciting. You can adjust the amount of chili flakes based on your personal preference for spice. For a little extra freshness, a squeeze of lemon juice adds a citrusy brightness that cuts through the richness of the avocado.

This toast is as nutritious as it is tasty. Avocados are packed with healthy fats and essential nutrients, while radishes offer fiber and antioxidants. Together, they make for a light yet satisfying dish that’s perfect for any time of day. Radish and avocado toast with chili flakes is a simple, quick meal that can easily be customized with additional toppings, like a sprinkle of sea salt, fresh herbs, or a drizzle of olive oil.

I don’t understand the appeal of putting radishes on toast. Just seems weird to me. Anyone else feel this way?

  2. User avatar laveta.hahn says:

    3 stars
Kinda confusing with all the steps. I mean, it’s just toast. Can’t we keep it simple?

  3. 5 stars
This is yummy! I love how the radish adds a crunch to the creamy avocado. Will be making it again!

    1. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

      5 stars
Totally agree! That crunch is just the best. I usually add some lemon juice too, gives it a nice zing.

    2. 3 stars
Sounds good but I substituted radish for cucumber once. Still great, just a bit less crunchy. What’s with the cheese though? Seems weird on toast.

  4. User avatar glady.abshire91 says:

    3 stars
Eh, not my favorite. It was kinda bland and the chili flakes didn’t help much. I’ll stick to butter.

  5. User avatar ahmad.hegmann22 says:

    4 stars
Why not use cream cheese instead of that other cheese? Seems like it would be better.

    1. User avatar Lolita Casper says:

      2 stars
I dunno, cream cheese is too heavy don’t you think? This cheesy stuff sounds better to me!

    2. User avatar ulysses.rath1991 says:

      4 stars
Cream cheese would be good, but it might be too rich for this recipe. I like the creamy cheese idea for balance!

  6. 5 stars
Actually really good! The chili flakes give it a nice kick. I used jalapenos instead because I couldn’t find radishes.

  7. User avatar madonna.grady55 says:

    4 stars
Delish! A great way to eat healthy. I didn’t have radishes, so I used cucumbers instead – still great.

  8. User avatar halflife4 says:

    3 stars
Uhm, isn’t this just guacamole on toast? Seems kinda basic to me.

  9. User avatar lisandra.jerde4 says:

    4 stars
I tried this with feta cheese instead of creamy cheese, and it’s AMAZING!

  10. User avatar kaley.leffler says:

    4 stars
Yum! My whole fam loved it! Will make again, highly recommend!

  11. 3 stars
Not my thing. Radish is too spicy for me. Next time, I will skip them.

    1. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

      4 stars
Honestly, I think radishes add a nice crunch! But you do you. I respect your taste!

    2. 5 stars
I get that radishes can be a bit spicy for some! Maybe try cucumbers instead next time? They’re milder and still fresh.

  12. User avatar Orange Dartwing says:

    2 stars
My toast was too soggy. Maybe I put too much olive oil? Not sure if I’ll make this again.

    1. User avatar dane.mante81 says:

      4 stars
I had the same issue! Maybe try less oil or toast it longer next time? Good luck!

  13. User avatar anissa.goldner1961 says:

    2 stars
I dunno, the radish was too spicy for my kids. They didn’t eat it. 😐

    1. User avatar birgit.considine says:

I get it! Radishes can be a bit spicy for kids. Maybe you could try cucumbers next time? They’re milder and still crunchy!

    2. User avatar Restless Draugr says:

      3 stars
Just don’t give up on radishes. They add a nice kick to dishes, but can be adjusted for kids. Just use less chili flakes.

  14. User avatar cassandra.heidenreich2009 says:

Too many steps for a toast recipe. Just toast bread and put stuff on it lol.

  15. User avatar Falmer Warmonger says:

    5 stars
This was amazing!! The flavors pop and it’s so easy to make. Will definitely make it again!

  16. 2 stars
Honestly, I don’t get the hype. Just tastes like plain avocado on toast. Meh.

  17. User avatar leandro.feest83 says:

    2 stars
Can you really eat this? Seems like a waste of good avocado to me.

    1. User avatar harriett.kreiger2020 says:

      5 stars
Seriously, it’s delicious! Don’t underestimate avocado. It’s not a waste at all. 😊

    2. 2 stars
I dunno, just seems like putting too much stuff on bread. Bread is for eating, not decorating. 🤔

  18. User avatar liberal.hero says:

    2 stars
I burned the bread trying to get it “golden brown” lol. Also I accidentally used regular chili powder instead of flakes—tasted okay but not the same.

  19. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

    1 star
Why not just mash the avocado on the bread? This sounds silly.

    1. 4 stars
I think the radishes add a nice crunch! Mashing might be easier, but this is more gourmet. 🥑

  20. User avatar marisa.simonis1994 says:

    4 stars
My kids loved it! They even asked for it at breakfast, which is rare.

  21. User avatar lupe.rice1951 says:

    3 stars
I dunno, I think the radish is a bit too strong for this, maybe try without it?

  22. 5 stars
Best toast I ever made! 🥑

  23. User avatar jovita.hoeger says:

    3 stars
Make sure to use fresh bread, it makes a huge difference. I made mine with stale.

  24. User avatar drew.waelchi90 says:

    4 stars
Pretty tasty, but I’m confused why there’s “creamy cheese” without specifying which kind. I used cream cheese and it worked, though.

    1. User avatar burl.block2011 says:

      3 stars
I think “creamy cheese” means just any cheese you can spread? Like, Velveeta? 😅 I made it once with cottage cheese and it was kinda watery, so maybe cream cheese is the safer bet.

    2. User avatar joe_banana says:

      5 stars
Good catch—“creamy cheese” is super vague. I usually use cream cheese too or even a soft goat cheese if I want tang. Glad it worked for you!

  25. User avatar basementDweller says:

    5 stars
    Delicious! 👍

    1. User avatar rhoda.bode2022 says:

So glad you enjoyed it! It’s super easy and yummy. 🥑🍞

  26. User avatar mickey.vonrueden1993 says:

    2 stars
I don’t get the hype. It was just okay, nothing spectacular. Maybe too healthy for me?

  27. 2 stars
This is healthy-ish but like… who puts “a cup” of cheese on one toast? Sounds wrong lol. Still ate it though.

  28. User avatar gail.quigley38 says:

    5 stars
Absolutly my favorit breakfast now, thanks for sharing! 😊

  29. User avatar Daysi Hodkiewicz says:

    5 stars
This is such a simple and delicious recipe! I loved the combination of flavors.

  30. 5 stars
This was a delicious twist on my regular avocado toast! The radishes add a great crunch.

    1. User avatar duane.pacocha25 says:

      5 stars
Glad you liked it! The crunch from the radishes really does make a difference! 🍽️

  31. 5 stars
Yum! Made it for breakfast and now I feel like a gourmet chef! 😂❤️

  32. 3 stars
Not bad, but I think sea salt should go on the avocado too, not just the radish. Otherwise it’s kind of uneven.

  33. 5 stars
So simple but so good! I don’t normally eat radishes but they added a nice kick.

  34. User avatar Max Quordlepleen says:

    5 stars
Love how fresh and crunchy this is—radish on avocado toast feels like a whole flavor upgrade. I added extra chili and it was perfect.

    1. User avatar emanuel.krajcik says:

      5 stars
Yes!! The radish crunch totally makes it feel “restaurant-y” at home. Extra chili is the move—how much do you usually add?

  35. 5 stars
This was so tasty! It was a hit at brunch! Definitely making it again.

    1. User avatar cristopher.veum says:

      3 stars
I tried this recipe too, but it was kinda bland… maybe I didn’t use enough chili flakes? 🤷‍♂️

    2. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

      5 stars
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! It really is perfect for brunch. Do you think it would work with different toppings?

  36. User avatar Hillman Hunter says:

    5 stars
OMG, this is the best breakfast ever! ❤️ I always add extra chili flakes!

    1. 5 stars
I agree! That extra chili really kicks it up a notch! 🔥

  37. 5 stars
This is such a delicious and easy recipe! I love how fresh it tastes.

  38. User avatar michale.wunsch58 says:

    4 stars
Really simple and healthy. I added some lemon juice too, it was bomb!

    1. User avatar venita.brakus28 says:

      5 stars
Sounds delicious! I’ll definitely try the lemon juice addition next time. Thanks for the tip!

    2. 2 stars
Lemon juice? Really? I think that might make it taste weird. I’ll stick with the original recipe!

  39. 4 stars
The combo is great, but 1 cup creamy cheese seems like way too much for just 1 slice of bread 😅 I used about half and it was ideal.

  40. 1 star
Avocado toast is overrated. Who even eats that? I’ll stick to cereal.

  41. 2 stars
I tried it but didn’t like the radishes. Felt too spicy with the chili flakes.

  42. 5 stars
This was sooo good! I added a little lemon juice too. Yum!

  43. User avatar Flame Atronach says:

    4 stars
I didn’t have radish, so I used cucumber. Still good but not the same.

  44. User avatar Ruben Deckow says:

    4 stars
Sounds weird but I like it, I skipped the cheese though. Cheese is gross!

  45. 1 star
Is this a meal or just snacks? Looks confusing!

  46. 4 stars
3 slices radish for me is barely anything—next time I’m going to do more because I like that peppery bite.

  47. User avatar cara.adams34 says:

    4 stars
Saw on Instagram and had to try. I don’t usually cook but this was easy.

    1. User avatar Lino Kuhlman says:

      5 stars
That looks so refreshing! I’m definitely trying this soon. Thanks for sharing!

  48. User avatar Diana Swaniawski Jr. says:

    3 stars
I mean, it’s just toast with toppings? Not wow or anything.

    1. 4 stars
I think you’re missing the point! It’s simple but delicious. Sometimes the best things are basic.

    2. User avatar mable.abbott95 says:

      3 stars
Toast is toast man, but looks good! I just eat whatever’s in the fridge lol.

  49. User avatar lou.bashirian says:

    3 stars
Whole grain bread toasted + chili flakes is a win, but I’m confused why the cheese is called “creamy cheese” and not named. Still tasty!

  50. User avatar tristan.cartwright53 says:

    2 stars
Meh. I didn’t get much flavor from the radish—maybe my radishes were older. Also chili flakes overwhelmed everything a bit.

  51. User avatar rachael.labadie1999 says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but too spicy for my taste. Maybe less chili next time? 😅

    1. User avatar quentin.torp says:

      4 stars
I totally get you! I love spicy food, but sometimes it can be overwhelming. Maybe try adding some more avocado next time to balance it out. 😊

    2. User avatar cyrstal.gerlach says:

      2 stars
Less chili??? No way! It’s supposed to have a kick! Just embrace the spice, it’s what makes it exciting! 🔥

  52. 2 stars
Isn’t this too easy? Can’t believe it needs instructions. You just put avocado on bread right?

    1. 4 stars
It’s about presenting it nicely! Plus, the radishes and cheese add flavor. You gotta try it!

  53. User avatar maximo.dietrich13 says:

    3 stars
I didn’t have radish, so I used cucumber. Still tasted okay, but not the same!

  54. 2 stars
Meh… I thought it was just okay. Not my favorite combo tho.

    1. User avatar jerrell.paucek25 says:

      5 stars
I actually loved it! The chili flakes add a nice kick. Everyone has different tastes, I guess.

  55. 5 stars
Super easy recipe, my kids loved it! Will make it for brunch.

  56. User avatar aiko.west1989 says:

    5 stars
The combo of radish and avocado is fire! I will be making this again, no doubt.

  57. 5 stars
Love this! The chili flakes give it a nice kick! Perfect for breakfast.

    1. User avatar walker.sipes72 says:

      5 stars
I totally agree! The chili flakes really elevate it. This is my new go-to breakfast! 😍

  58. User avatar julio.powlowski says:

    2 stars
Epic fail for me. The cheese didn’t mix well and it was too messy. 🙁

  59. User avatar callie.haley2005 says:

    3 stars
Not sure about the chili flakes. Seems kinda weird on avocado. But I’ll give it a try!

  60. User avatar catarina.anderson says:

    4 stars
Not gonna lie, “1 cup creamy cheese” feels like a lot for one slice. I’d start with like half a cup or it gets too rich.

    1. User avatar Magrathean sperm whale says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean—1 cup sounds huge for just one slice. I’d definitely scale it down or use it as a generous schmear.

  61. User avatar lacy.frami96 says:

    3 stars
The radish slices were super peppery—next time I’ll use fewer radishes or soak them a minute. Otherwise good.

    1. User avatar Gaius Helen Mohiam says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—radish can go from mild to spicy real fast. Soaking for a quick minute sounds like a great fix. Next time I’ll do that too. Appreciate the tip!

  62. User avatar lawrence.kertzmann says:

    4 stars
Tastes good but I used regular cheese instead of creamy. Still worked!

    1. 4 stars
Glad it worked out for you! Regular cheese can be pretty tasty too.

    2. User avatar dominique.white14 says:

      2 stars
I dunno, regular cheese on a toast like this? Seems like a weird combo to me.

  63. User avatar edgardo.grant79 says:

    3 stars
My kids liked it, but I found it a bit weird. Radishes on toast? Who does that?

  64. User avatar colby.kuhlman1955 says:

    2 stars
I don’t get the hype. Radish on toast feels a little weird to me, like salad pretending to be breakfast.

    1. User avatar solange.hodkiewicz19 says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean, but the radish actually adds a nice crunch and peppery bite. It’s basically breakfast with a salad vibe—without being watery.

    2. User avatar brittni.moore says:

      3 stars
Lol “salad pretending to be breakfast” is so accurate 😂 I tried it anyway and the chili makes it better, but yeah it’s an acquired taste.

  65. User avatar derek.ankunding says:

    4 stars
Yum! But can I use any cheese? I only got cheddar, will it work?

  66. 2 stars
Tried this but it was not great. I forgot the olive oil and it just tasted bland. Oops.

    1. User avatar Kenneth Feest says:

      4 stars
You really need that olive oil for flavor! It’s a simple mistake, but it makes a big difference. Hope you give it another try!

  67. User avatar marcelle.ryan28 says:

    5 stars
This is soooo good! Never thought of radish on toast before. Yum!

  68. User avatar jeneva.zieme62 says:

    5 stars
Easy breakfast and tastes fancy for no effort. The chili flakes really wake it up. Will make again.

  69. User avatar chin.wehner says:

    1 star
Sorry but 1 cup cheese + avocado + radish is too much. It was messy and I couldn’t finish it.

    1. User avatar carl.prohaska71 says:

      4 stars
Messy is real, but it’s just because the avocado is soft. Try slicing radish super thin and pressing it dry, then use less cheese so it actually stays put.

    2. 4 stars
I hear you—1 cup creamy cheese on toast can get pretty heavy fast. Next time I’d do a thinner layer (like 1/3–1/2 cup) and add more radish for crunch.

  70. User avatar charles.jaskolski57 says:

    4 stars
I used whatever cheese I had (cream cheese) and it turned out great. The olive oil at the end is key, don’t skip it.

  71. User avatar joe_banana says:

    5 stars
I made it with goat cheese and it tasted fancy. The olive oil drizzle at the end is the move.

  72. User avatar Vladimir Harkonnen says:

    4 stars
Simple and healthy! I skipped the cheese and added some herbs instead. Yummy!

  73. User avatar joe_banana says:

    4 stars
Simple yet delicious! Perfect for breakfast. I will make it again.

  74. 5 stars
This looks so fresh and crunchy—radish + avocado is such a good combo. I’d probably add lemon too, but even as written it sounds awesome.

  75. User avatar Ford Prefect says:

    5 stars
Super quick lunch. I’m into breakfasts that don’t require cooking—this is basically toast, mash, and assemble.

  76. 3 stars
I tried it but my avocado wasn’t ripe enough, so it was kinda chunky. Flavor was still good though.
