Avocado Toast with a Patriotic Twist

June 23, 2025

Nothing says summer celebration quite like a dish that’s both festive and fresh, and patriotic avocado toast is the perfect way to kick off your 4th of July festivities. This colorful twist on a breakfast favorite brings together creamy avocado and juicy seasonal fruit in a red, white, and blue presentation that captures the spirit of Independence Day. It’s cheerful, light, and surprisingly satisfying – exactly the kind of snack or breakfast that feels right for a sunny holiday morning.

The creamy richness of avocado sets the stage for the vibrant toppings. Strawberries add a bright pop of red and a sweet-tart contrast, while blueberries bring in a juicy burst of flavor and a touch of patriotic blue. For the white, feta crumbles or a few ribbons of mozzarella balance the toast with a salty, creamy element that ties everything together. Each bite delivers a mix of creamy, fruity, and savory notes that feel indulgent yet refreshingly balanced.

What makes this dish special is how it captures the festive mood without being overly complicated. It’s a nod to the flag, a celebration of seasonal produce, and a healthy option in a day often filled with grilled meats and rich desserts. It’s also highly photogenic, making it a standout at any brunch table or casual gathering.

Patriotic avocado toast is a clever, delicious way to bring a little extra flair to your 4th of July morning. Whether shared with friends at a picnic or enjoyed solo with iced coffee in hand, it offers a playful and wholesome start to a day of celebration. With its bold colors and fresh flavors, this toast is a small but joyful way to honor red, white, and blue traditions – one slice at a time.

This patriotic avocado toast is a great option for anyone looking to serve something light and refreshing before a day of barbecues, parades, and fireworks. It’s quick to assemble, easy to customize, and sure to impress guests of all ages. Whether you’re enjoying it with a morning coffee or serving it as part of a 4th of July spread, this red, white, and blue avocado toast is a celebration on a plate.

I don’t understand why you’d put blueberries on toast… Isn’t that for pancakes? Couldn’t you just stick to the basics?

Blueberries on toast seems weird, yeah. But who knows? Maybe it’s a new trend or somthin’? Not for me tho.

Ugh, feta cheese? No way! I used cheddar and it was still yummy. 🤷‍♀️ Whatever works, right?

    1. 5 stars
Cheddar sounds good too! I might try it next time. No rules in cooking! 😄

  5. User avatar anthony.hilpert65 says:

This is just toast with some stuff on it. Where’s the real recipe? I thought there’d be more to it.

  6. User avatar clotilde.hoppe99 says:

    3 stars
Does anyone else think feta is overrated? I just didn’t like it on this. The toast was fine but could be better.

  7. User avatar tristan.medhurst1998 says:

    4 stars
Pretty good, but I thought it could use a lil more salt. Still delish tho! 👍

  8. User avatar archie.murphy says:

    1. 4 stars

My kids refused to try it because they said the blueberries didn’t belong on toast 😒.

  11. User avatar Lumberjack says:

    2 stars
I dunno about that combination. Blueberries on toast? Sounds weird. I’ll stick to my eggs.

  12. User avatar Zaphod Beeblebrox says:

    2. 2 stars
I mean, it looks nice and all, but I don’t think those flavors really go together…🤔

  14. 4 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about the blueberries on toast, but I tried it anyway. It’s actually refreshing. Patriotic plate in my kitchen? Yes please.

  15. User avatar kattie.lynch50 says:

    3 stars
I tried this recipe, but I think it needs something else. Maybe some hot sauce?

  16. User avatar rachael.boehm61 says:

    2 stars
Why would you put blueberries on toast? Strawberries are better!

  17. User avatar tyrone.schmeler66 says:

I thought this was gonna taste weird, but it’s actually pretty good. Who knew blueberries on toast? 👏👏⭐⭐⭐⭐

  18. User avatar Clarence Hilpert Jr. says:

Yum! This is my new go-to breakfast! The feta and tomatoes are such a tasty combo. 💚

  20. User avatar loretta.kessler43 says:

    2 stars
The texture was strange. Why would you put blueberries on toast? Not a fan.

    1. User avatar rickiestmorty says:

      4 stars
I actually loved the blueberries on this. It adds a nice sweetness! But I get that not everyone likes it.

    2. User avatar rafael.beier says:

      2 stars
Blueberries? Really? That sounds gross. Who puts fruit on toast? 🙄

  21. User avatar shalanda.collins says:

    3 stars
Healthy and looks nice, but I fumbled making it. Bread burnt, tomatoes squished. Sad face.

    1. User avatar ALTplusF4 says:

      4 stars
Don’t be too hard on yourself! It happens to the best of us. Next time, maybe try lowering the toast time a bit to avoid burning?

    2. User avatar dan.lindgren70 says:

      5 stars
Lol, I squished the tomatoes too! Just mash that avocado and call it a salad, amirite? 😂

  22. User avatar vesta.roob40 says:

    3 stars
Only thing: 4-6 cherry tomatoes seems random. Like do I need 4 or 6? And I used way too much feta, oops. Still tasty though.

  23. User avatar magali.crooks46 says:

    5 stars
Yummy! But why you calling it patriotic? Is this for the 4th of July? Just curious.

  24. User avatar chantell.lakin says:

    4 stars
Easy to make! I added some garlic powder to my avocado mix. Delicious! 😍

  25. 2 stars
I don’t know about mixing blueberries with avocado. Seems weird to me. Thumbs down! 👎

  26. User avatar Owen Beier says:

    2 stars
I like my toast plain. Blueberries? Nah, that’s not right! ⭐⭐

    1. User avatar celestina.gibson92 says:

      4 stars
I get that, but the blueberries add a nice touch! Give it a try!

  27. User avatar bernard.lubowitz41 says:

    4 stars
Patriotic twist? I mean, sure, it’s red/white/blue-ish… but I’m not convinced it needs to be a theme. Avocado toast already slaps.

  28. User avatar Al O'Moaney says:

    3 stars
Too much feta for my taste. I prefer it simpler, but my kids loved it! ⭐⭐⭐

  29. 5 stars
This was such an amazing twist on avocado toast! The blueberries made it so festive! 🌟

  30. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

    5 stars
This is such a cute idea—sweet blueberries + salty feta on avocado toast sounds dangerously good. I used a little extra black pepper and it totally popped.

  31. 3 stars
Looks good but my avocado was rotten, so I had to skip that part. 😔

  32. User avatar tawny.wiegand77 says:

    1 star
This is just plain avocado toast. Where’s the twist? Not impressed.

  33. User avatar erminia.bergnaum1978 says:

    1 star
Way too healthy for my taste. Where’s the bacon? 😩

  34. User avatar Slartibartfast says:

    4 stars
The feta with cherry tomatoes is a solid move. I’d probably add a tiny squeeze of lemon for brightness though. Overall pretty great and quick.

  35. User avatar boyd.zulauf95 says:

    4 stars
Easy to make! I added extra feta because I love cheese! Will definitely make again.

  36. User avatar Lynwood Ferry II says:

    5 stars
Nom nom! I loved it!!! My kids ate it too. That’s a win! 😍

    1. 5 stars
That’s awesome! Kids are picky, so you musta done something right! 😊

    2. 3 stars
Avocado toast? Sounds… interesting. Not sure about blueberries with it tho. 🤔

  37. User avatar Ryuu Shenlong says:

    2 stars
I mean, it’s just toast with some stuff. How is this a recipe? ⭐⭐

    1. User avatar Charles Darwin says:

      5 stars
But, like, it’s not just toast! It’s healthy stuff on bread! You can’t knock it till you try it! 🌟

    2. User avatar Hillman Hunter says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean, but not everything has to be complicated to be good! Sometimes simple is best! 😊

  38. 4 stars
Really simple recipe! But I would add some hot sauce for a kick! Definitely a 4 outta 5!

    1. User avatar valentina.sauer89 says:

      4 stars
Sounds good! I usually just eat it plain, but hot sauce could be a fun twist. Thanks for the tip!

  39. User avatar Reg Nullify says:

    2 stars
Not sure about blueberries on avocado toast… I mean, berries are sweet, right? It kinda worked though. Wouldn’t make it every week.

  40. User avatar ellamae.hegmann25 says:

    5 stars
This is a fab recipe! Love the blueberries touch, makes it feel so festive! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  41. 4 stars
Yummy! I added some chili flakes for spice and omg, delish! ❤️✨⭐⭐⭐⭐

  42. User avatar talia.will30 says:

    4 stars
Pretty solid idea. I did add a squeeze of lemon to the avocado though—made it brighter. Feta on tomatoes is a great combo.

  43. 4 stars
I didn’t have feta, so I used cheddar. Still turned out great! Slightly different but yumm! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  44. 5 stars
My aunt says you can’t mix sweet and savory, but this works! Gotta tell her. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  45. User avatar leana.reichert52 says:

    2 stars
Disappointed. The basil made it taste weird and the blueberries were like…confusing. Also 4-6 tomatoes is too many for my toast lol.

  46. User avatar mathWizard says:

    1 star
This is like… avocado on bread? So not a big deal. ⭐

  47. User avatar edwina.raynor16 says:

    5 stars
So cute with the blueberries and basil—feels like breakfast dressed for a holiday parade. I’m in. ⭐️

  48. User avatar sindy.frami37 says:

    2 stars
Not sure about the blueberries on toast… I mean, I get the colors, but sweet fruit + avocado + feta? Could be weird. I might swap blueberries for something less sugary.

    1. 2 stars
I’m not convinced… blueberries on toast feels like dessert vibes. Maybe swap with strawberries or even just add more tomatoes? Also I’d do the feta first then the fruit so it doesn’t slide off.

    2. User avatar logan.moen says:

      5 stars
Honestly I love the combo—sweet berries cut through the creamy avocado and salty feta. The basil helps too. It’s like a little sweet/savory balance, not as weird as it sounds.

  49. User avatar dylan.stoltenberg60 says:

    4 stars
The instructions are easy, but mine got kinda soggy because my tomatoes were too juicy. Next time I’ll salt tomatoes lightly first and drain.

  50. User avatar cody.murazik1993 says:

    3 stars
I used white bread instead of whole grain, still turned out fine! It was a nice breakfast.

  51. User avatar lazaro.reinger69 says:

    3 stars
I made this recipe and it was alright, but my kids didn’t like the blueberries. They want just plain toast next time.

  52. User avatar janae.abshire2003 says:

    5 stars
Absolutely loved this twist! The blueberries add such a nice touch! I will make it again for the 4th of July! 🇺🇸

  53. User avatar basementDweller says:

    3 stars
I tried it and it was good, but my avocado got a little bitter—maybe my avocado wasn’t ripe. Next time I’ll mash it with more salt and pepper.

    1. User avatar reiko.mills says:

      5 stars
That makes sense—unripe avocado can totally taste bitter. Next time try letting it ripen more (or mix in a squeeze of lemon/lime), and salting after mashing should help too. Love the patriotic combo!

  54. 5 stars
Yum! Next time I might throw in some eggs on top too! 🥑🍳

  55. 2 stars
I don’t know why you’d put blueberries on toast. Sounds weird. Just stick to tomatoes and feta.

    1. 4 stars
Actually, the blueberries add a nice sweetness that balances the savory flavors! You should give it a try before judging.

  56. User avatar joshua.parker says:

    2 stars
1/4 cup feta wasn’t enough for my taste. Like, I barely noticed it. Also I used regular tomatoes not cherry and it wasn’t the same vibe.

    1. 5 stars
Totally get that—1/4 cup feta is a little shy. I usually go more like 1/2 cup (and I don’t mind extra saltiness with the avocado). Also yeah, using regular tomatoes changes the whole thing—cherry tomatoes are juicier and sweeter so the “vibe” stays brighter. If you only have regular, try dicing smaller and draining a bit so it doesn’t get watery.

  57. User avatar Ernesto Reilly II says:

    5 stars
Whole grain bread is key—when I used regular white bread it turned soggy fast. If you serve immediately like it says, it’s perfect.

  58. User avatar Grìma Wormtongue says:

    5 stars
This looks amazing! I can’t wait to try it for breakfast tomorrow. The combo of avocado and feta is genius! 🥑

    1. 5 stars
This sounds like the perfect breakfast! I love how fresh and healthy it is. Can’t wait to see how it turns out! 😊

  59. User avatar Ford Prefect says:

    5 stars
Love the patriotic twist—blueberries and basil on avocado toast sounds like a fun summer combo. Simple but looks super colorful. Definitely making this for brunch!

    1. User avatar anibal.gutmann says:

      5 stars
That really does look like the perfect Fourth of July brunch—colorful and fresh! 😄 I’m totally trying the blueberries + basil combo.

  60. User avatar lisandra.conroy54 says:

    4 stars
I tried it without feta (because dairy doesn’t love me) and it was still good. Would recommend! Basil is key.

  61. User avatar dede.rempel76 says:

    4 stars
This tastes like America to me 😅. Whole grain bread + feta is legit. My basil was a little wilted but still good.

    1. User avatar Eddie the Computer says:

      4 stars
Not gonna lie, basil wilting would stress me out. Still though, avocado toast with feta sounds better than it should. Do you think regular bread works or has to be whole grain?

    2. User avatar Reg Nullify says:

      5 stars
Haha “America” nailed 😄 Whole grain + feta is such a good combo. I like that you did the blueberries/basil split—feels fun but still balanced.

  62. 3 stars
Recipe says blueberries on one slice and basil on the other—why not both? I mixed them and it was actually good?? maybe I’m crazy lol

  63. User avatar Questular Rontok says:

    5 stars
This is such a cute patriotic idea! The blueberries + basil combo sounds weird but actually pretty bright. I’m definitely making this for brunch.

    1. User avatar jerrod.conn41 says:

      5 stars
Love the patriotic look! I’m with you though—blueberries + basil sounds a little odd, but I can see how it could taste fresh. I’ll try it for brunch too 😄

  64. 2 stars
I don’t get the “patriotic twist.” It’s just toppings. Also I used dried basil and it wasn’t the same—no lie.

  65. User avatar ali.nicolas2016 says:

    5 stars
Simple and looks gorgeous. I did a sprinkle of extra feta and added a squeeze of lemon—10/10. Whole grain bread makes it feel more filling too.

    1. User avatar leida.pfannerstill1969 says:

      5 stars
Yes!! Lemon with feta is such a good call. I also love when it stays filling—whole grain bread + avocado is a winning combo. 🍋🇺🇸

    2. 4 stars
Patriotic twist sounds fun, but I’m confused—do the blueberries go on top of the basil or just one side? Either way, extra feta always helps. 😅

  66. User avatar basil.cummerata1979 says:

    3 stars
I liked it, but the blueberries on toast felt a little random for me. Maybe if I swap them for sliced strawberries? Still tasty though.

  67. User avatar frankie.schroeder1953 says:

    3 stars
I tried it but my avocado was too chunky and it tore the toast a bit. Also 4-6 tomatoes felt like a lot—next time I’ll do less.

  68. User avatar merrill.rath1986 says:

    4 stars
Honestly, this is so extra (in a good way). My kid thought it was “America toast.” The basil on the savory side is such a nice fresh finish.

  69. User avatar Dionne Murphy I says:

    3 stars
Avocado + feta makes sense. Blueberries and basil feels kinda random though—like why not just do strawberries? Still edible, just not my favorite combo.

    1. 2 stars
Strawberries would be way better 😂 Blueberries just taste like they belong in yogurt. Also, I tried this and my feta was kinda watery—maybe I’m doing it wrong.

    2. User avatar halflife4 says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean about the blueberries—feels random at first. But I actually like the sweet pop with the creamy avocado and salty feta. The basil makes it taste fresher too.

  70. User avatar lora.price63 says:

    4 stars
I followed it pretty much exactly, but my avocado got a little browned. Next time I’ll add a squeeze of lemon and probably cut the tomatoes smaller so they don’t slide off.
