Lemon & Dill Potato Salad is a refreshing twist on the classic potato salad, bringing bright, zesty flavors to the table. The combination of tender potatoes, fresh lemon, and fragrant dill creates a light and vibrant dish that pairs perfectly with grilled meats, sandwiches, or as a side for a picnic or potluck.
Start by boiling baby potatoes or Yukon Gold potatoes until they’re tender but still firm enough to hold their shape. Once cooked, drain and let them cool slightly. For the best texture, cut the potatoes into bite-sized chunks while they’re still warm, allowing them to absorb the dressing better.
In a separate bowl, prepare the dressing by whisking together Greek yogurt or sour cream, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, and lemon zest for an extra burst of citrus. Add finely chopped fresh dill, a drizzle of olive oil, salt, and pepper, and whisk until smooth and creamy. The yogurt or sour cream creates a creamy base, while the lemon and dill bring bright, fresh flavors.
Once the potatoes have cooled enough to handle, gently toss them in the lemon-dill dressing. Make sure the potatoes are evenly coated for the best flavor. For extra depth, you can add sliced red onion, capers, or even a handful of chopped cucumber for a slight crunch.
Chill the salad in the refrigerator for at least an hour to allow the flavors to meld together. Just before serving, garnish with a few sprigs of fresh dill and additional lemon zest for a pop of color.
This Lemon & Dill Potato Salad is a light, refreshing alternative to traditional potato salad. The bright lemon and aromatic dill make it the perfect side dish for warm weather meals or any occasion where you want to add a burst of flavor to your spread.

5 stars for freshness! Perfect side for BBQs!
I agree! This potato salad is a winner for BBQs! The fresh flavors are amazing.
I don’t like dill, can I use parsley instead? 🤔
Is this even a salad? More like a potato mash… 😒
It’s not a mash! It’s just how they make it. Just give it a try, you might like it!
I think it’s a salad, just a different kind! Potatoes can be in salads too 😄
Good but it didn’t taste like my mom’s recipe. Mom’s better!
I followed the recipe and it turned out great. But I forgot the garlic, woops!
Y’all this is just okay. I was expecting more flavor. Kinda bland.
Super easy to make, but I added a lil bit of mustard and it made it 10x better!
potatoes is my fav and this recipe is da bomb!
I dunno, lemon with potatoes? Sounds weird to me. I like mine with butter.
Totally agree! This potato salad sounds amazing! Can’t wait to try it.
This salad is soooo good! I love the lemony taste! 🍋
I think the dill flavor is a bit too strong for my taste. Maybe just a little less next time?
I get what you mean! Dill can be pretty strong. Maybe try adding more lemon next time to balance it out.
Yum! The olive oil made it rich and tasty! My whole family enjoyed it. 🙂
I made it with red potatoes instead of small ones, it was fine. Just needed more salt I think.
Red potatoes are great! I never thought to use them in potato salad, but I might try it next time. Thanks for the tip!
Not really feeling this recipe… it’s just potatoes and olive oil. Where’s the excitement?
Potatoes are delicious!!! You just have to spice them up more yourself if you want, add some cheese or maybe bacon? So not boring!
I get where you’re coming from, but sometimes simple is best! The lemon and dill really brighten it up. Give it a chance first!
My mum always made potato salad like this! Brought back memories. Gonna make it for her!
That’s so sweet! I’m sure your mum will love it. It’s the little things that bring back the best memories.
Potato salad?? I dunno, seems kinda plain. Where’s the bacon or something fun?
Not gonna lie, I forgot to halve my potatoes once and it took forever to cook… but the flavors were worth it. Also, the dill amount seems right.
I did the whole ‘oops’ thing too 😅 If you forget to halve, just crank the boil time…but honestly I still think dill should be like 4 tbsp? 2 tbsp feels kinda light to me.
Yup, halving really does make a difference—potatoes can take way longer otherwise. Glad the lemon + dill still came through though!
Too much lemon for my taste. Should’ve used lime instead. Wouldn’t recommend.
I don’t see how potato and lemon work together. Sounds weird.
Potatoes and salad? Is this a thing? I just eat chips. 😂
Meh, I think it needs more garlic, it was kinda plain. 3 stars.
I’m skeptical about how much garlic is there—1 clove feels like it might get lost. Still, the balance of salt/pepper/lemon could surprise me.
