Garlic Bread

September 11, 2023

Garlic Bread is a beloved side dish, widely known for its irresistible aroma and savory flavor. It’s a simple yet flavorful treat that combines crusty bread, butter, garlic, and a sprinkle of herbs, making it the perfect accompaniment to pasta, salads, soups, and more. Whether baked until golden and crisp or soft and buttery, garlic bread adds a comforting, indulgent touch to any meal.

The base of your favorite bread typically starts with a loaf of French bread or baguette, though other types of bread like ciabatta or sourdough can also be used. The key to a great garlic bread lies in the garlic-butter mixture, melted butter is generously combined with minced garlic, parsley, and sometimes a pinch of salt or grated Parmesan cheese. This flavorful concoction is then spread over the bread, ensuring that every bite is packed with deliciousness.

Once the bread is coated, it’s baked in the oven until golden brown and crispy on the edges, while remaining soft and buttery inside. For an extra touch, your garlic bread can be broiled for a minute or two to achieve a perfectly crisp top. The result is a fragrant, crispy, and buttery delight that’s hard to resist.

This perfect side dish is not only a tasty crowd-pleaser but also incredibly easy to prepare. It’s a great option for casual family dinners, holidays, or even as a quick snack. You can even get creative by adding a variety of seasonings, such as chili flakes for a spicy kick or mozzarella for a cheesy twist.

Garlic bread is perfect for a variety of occasions, including family dinners, holiday meals, casual gatherings, or as a delicious accompaniment to Italian dishes like pasta and pizza. Whether served as a side dish or enjoyed on its own, this is a timeless classic that never disappoints.

Nailed it! Crispy and buttery just how I like it! Maybe next time I’ll try adding some herbs.

Wut if I use a different bread? Like, can I use whole wheat? Is that good or bad for this?

I don’t get why you have to use unsalted butter. My grandmama always used salted and it was fine!

Made this for dinner, but my bread burned. 😭 Not sure what I did wrong. Maybe my oven temp is off?

    1. 4 stars
Oh no! I always set my oven a bit lower than the recipe says, just to be safe. Maybe try 350°F next time? Hope it works!

You might be right about the oven temp! Mine sometimes gets too hot too. Try an oven thermometer to check it.

  25. User avatar josef.nolan2 says:

Garlic bread is borin, just sayin… used to prefer it with a lot of Italian seasoning. This recipe lacks punch.

  38. 5 stars
Yummmm! My kids devoured it! Also added some cheese on top for extra flavor! 🧀

  39. 2 stars
Too garlicky for me. My kids wouldn’t eat it. Sad face.

I followed the recipe closely, but my bread came out too soggy. What did I do wrong?

    1. 4 stars
Maybe you used too much butter? Soggy bread is no fun! Try less next time.
