Italian Chicken Sheet Pan Supper

August 7, 2024

Italian Chicken Sheet Pan Supper is one of those meals that makes life easier without sacrificing flavor. With just one pan, you get a full dinner that is colorful, balanced, and satisfying. It is the kind of recipe that feels comforting and fresh at the same time, making it perfect for busy nights or when you just want something warm and hearty without a big mess in the kitchen.

The beauty of this dish is its simplicity. Start with seasoned chicken, coated in olive oil, garlic, and classic Italian herbs like oregano, thyme, and basil. Then surround the chicken with a mix of vegetables such as bell peppers, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, and red onions. Everything goes onto a sheet pan and into the oven, where the flavors come together as it roasts.

While it cooks, the vegetables soften and caramelize slightly, soaking up the juices from the chicken and herbs. The chicken turns golden on the outside and stays juicy on the inside. The tomatoes burst and create a light, flavorful sauce that coats everything on the tray. It is the kind of meal that looks as good as it tastes, full of color and bold aroma.

This sheet pan supper is easy to adapt. You can add baby potatoes, broccoli, or even mushrooms. If you like a little heat, sprinkle in some crushed red pepper flakes. Add a squeeze of lemon or a sprinkle of Parmesan before serving to brighten up the dish. You can serve it on its own, over rice, or with a slice of bread to soak up all the delicious juices.

Cleanup is minimal, and the whole meal comes together quickly. It is also great for leftovers, making it a smart choice for meal prep.

Italian Chicken Sheet Pan Supper proves that weeknight cooking can be both simple and full of flavor, using wholesome ingredients and just one pan.

Do you really need olive oil? Seems unnecessary when chicken is greasy already.

  2. 5 stars
This was so good! The chicken was really moist and the veggies were perfect. Definitely making it again!

  3. 4 stars
I don’t have cherry tomatoes, can I use regular tomatoes instead? Also, what can I use if I don’t have zucchini?

  4. User avatar Margot Fenring says:

    2 stars
Just okay. My family didn’t love it. I think they wanted more flavor or something. 😒

  5. User avatar joe_banana says:

This was soooo good! The chicken was juicy, and the veggies were perfectly roasted. Will make again!

Sheet pan meals are the best! This one was super easy and clean up was a breeze.

    1. User avatar shawanda.koelpin11 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree! I love how everything cooks together on one pan. Makes meal prep less of a hassle!

    2. 3 stars
Honestly, I had trouble with the chicken. Maybe my oven was too hot? It came out a bit dry. I’ll try again with less time. 🤷‍♂️

  7. User avatar nedra.bauch81 says:

    3 stars
I followed it exactly and my peppers were kinda bland. Maybe I used old Italian seasoning. Still, it was healthy and filling.

  8. User avatar alejandro.funk56 says:

    3 stars
Tasted good, but why do you put salt and pepper? Isn’t that normal? 😂

  9. 4 stars
Took longer than 25 minutes for the chicken to cook. I have a cheap oven tho.

  10. User avatar Meda Goldner says:

    3 stars
Meh. Good idea, but too much seasoning for my taste. Next time I’ll cut the garlic powder in half.

  11. User avatar bette.halvorson says:

    5 stars
This was absolutely delicious! The chicken was so juicy and the veggies were perfectly roasted.

I tried this and the chicken came out all mushy. Not sure what went wrong… Should I not use boneless chicken?

  13. 5 stars
Tried this tonight—super easy and the veggies actually caramelized a bit. The Italian seasoning + garlic powder combo is doing the heavy lifting. Will make again!

The instructions are simple, which I appreciate. I just wish it said whether to flip the chicken halfway—mine browned more on one side.

    1. User avatar Questular Rontok says:

      3 stars
Mine never gets flipped, I just cover it loosely with foil if one side starts getting too dark. 25 min at 400F usually works for me, but yeah if your oven runs hot, it’ll brown uneven. Maybe next time do 20-22 min and check.

    2. User avatar lucien.lynch38 says:

      5 stars
I get what you mean—sheet pans don’t always brown evenly. I’ve started flipping mine around the 12–15 minute mark (or at least rotating the pan) and it helps a lot. Since it says “until cooked through,” you can safely check temp and flip if you notice one side going darker.

  15. 4 stars
400°F for 25 minutes felt too long for me—everything got a bit too soft. Flavor was great though. If I make it again I’ll start checking at 18-20.

    1. User avatar olimpia.mante51 says:

      5 stars
Totally get that—sheet pan veggies at 400°F can turn mushy fast. I’m glad the flavor still came through though. Your 18-20 min check sounds spot on.

Tried this recipe but forgot olive oil! Oops! Still tasted good tho, haha.

    1. User avatar jewell.tromp says:

      4 stars
I guess you can say the recipe is pretty forgiving! But how did it not dry out without the oil? 🤔

    2. User avatar ellsworth.huels99 says:

      5 stars
No olive oil? Wow, that’s brave! Glad it still turned out good! 😄

  17. User avatar krystyna.runolfsson96 says:

i dont like zucchini, but my sister said it was good. also i forgot the chicken part lol.

  18. User avatar allena.macejkovic33 says:

    3 stars
Came out nice, but too salty. Next time less salt for me.

  19. 4 stars
Pretty good, but my chicken took more like 30-35 minutes. Everything else came out nice and flavorful though. Next time I’ll slice the chicken thinner.

  20. User avatar Galaxia Woonbeam says:

    2 stars
Is it really that easy? I don’t trust recipes that look too good. But I guess I’ll try it.

  21. User avatar Lynell Mayer II says:

    4 stars
Yummy! I added some extra spices and it turned out great. Will make again.

  22. 3 stars
I followed the recipe but my chicken was undercooked. Maybe I didn’t bake it long enough? I’ll try again.

  23. User avatar cornell.mueller says:

    4 stars
Pretty good, but I wish the chicken had more flavor on the inside. Next time I’ll marinate it or add a splash of lemon. Veggies were tasty though.

  24. User avatar lael.gulgowski95 says:

    5 stars
This was super easy and the veggies actually tasted roasted, not steamed. I added a little parmesan on top and it was perfect. Will make again!

    1. User avatar cyrus.wolff1982 says:

      4 stars
I tried this too but mine came out a bit watery—maybe my zucchini was too thick? Still tasted good though, and I might add parmesan next time.

    2. User avatar Benny Abshire says:

      5 stars
Love hearing that! Roasted veggies are the best part—glad you got that flavor. Parmesan is such a good finishing touch.

  25. User avatar giuseppe.ziemann35 says:

I didn’t have zucchini so I used carrots instead, turned out fine!

    1. 5 stars
Carrots work too! Glad it turned out good for you.

  26. 1 star
So bland… I added some hot sauce but it didn’t help much. Need more flavor!

  27. User avatar horacio.toy says:

    4 stars
Good weeknight meal. I used chicken thighs instead of breasts and cooked maybe 5-8 minutes longer. Flavors are solid and it smelled amazing.

  28. User avatar laurence.thiel1979 says:

    5 stars
Tried this tonight and it was such an easy weeknight win. The seasoning smelled amazing while it baked—will definitely make again.

  29. User avatar mirna.krajcik57 says:

    5 stars
This was AMAZING! So easy to make and the flavors were on point! Will definitely make again.

  30. 5 stars
Perfect dinner for my family! Everyone ate it up. I also added some onions. Yum!

  31. 3 stars
Seems too easy to be good. I guess I’ll try, but I’m skeptical about the chicken getting cooked through.

    1. 2 stars
Looks too simple if you ask me. Hope it works out for you, but don’t blame the recipe if the chicken is raw!

    2. 5 stars
I was skeptical too, but it turned out amazing! Just make sure the chicken is at least 165°F and you’ll be good!

  32. User avatar ArabianNights says:

    5 stars
This is such an easy weeknight win. I kept everything pretty much as written—400°F for ~25 minutes worked great and the veggies came out tender without getting mushy. The Italian seasoning + garlic powder combo smells amazing.

  33. User avatar quincy.wilkinson0 says:

    5 stars
Absolutely loved this recipe! The flavors were amazing and it was super easy to make. Will definitely make it again!

    1. User avatar Queen Rutela says:

I’m glad you loved it! This dish is amazing for busy weeknights. 😍

  34. 5 stars
Absolutely loved it! So easy to make and clean up was a breeze. Will make again!

  35. User avatar pia.rippin1992 says:

    4 stars
I added some red onion and it was delicious! Really brightened up the flavors.

  36. User avatar solomon.bruen90 says:

    4 stars
I didn’t have cherry tomatoes so I used grape tomatoes and it still turned out good. Also, I tossed the veggies more thoroughly and they actually caramelized a bit. Pretty tasty for something so low-effort.

  37. User avatar selene.bauch48 says:

    3 stars
I had a few issues. The chicken took longer than 25 minutes and I think I overcooked the veggies. Maybe a little more guidance on timing would help?

    1. User avatar guillermo.rodriguez87 says:

      4 stars
I totally understand! Timing can be tricky with different ovens. Maybe try checking the chicken with a meat thermometer next time? It helps a lot!

  38. User avatar Jeffrey Mitchell says:

    4 stars
Not bad. I mean not a restaurant level thing, but for a weekday meal it’s solid. My zucchini browned nicely.

    1. User avatar roger.doyle says:

      4 stars
Mine didn’t brown as much—maybe my oven runs cooler? I also think I sliced the zucchini too thick… next time I’ll do thinner rounds. Still tasty though!

    2. User avatar ester.ratke61 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—especially the zucchini part. Browning those rounds at 400°F makes it taste way more “real” than just steamed veggies.

  39. User avatar amira.nienow1964 says:

    4 stars
Yum! I added some mushrooms and they were great too. Love one-pan meals.

    1. User avatar adan.rutherford93 says:

      3 stars
Mushrooms? I dunno, makes it too muddy. But this is still a handy recipe!

    2. User avatar leon.carter says:

      5 stars
I agree! One-pan meals are the best for quick dinners. Good add with the mushrooms!

  40. 5 stars
Yummy! Even my kids liked it. I added some cheese on top before baking. So good!!!

  41. User avatar mary.klocko says:

    2 stars
I dunno… the chicken came out kinda dry for me. I followed the recipe exactly. Maybe lower the time?

  42. User avatar kent.wilkinson1975 says:

    3 stars
Super easy to make! But my kids are picky eaters. They only wanted the chicken and ignored the veggies.

    1. 4 stars
Try mixing the veggies with the chicken next time! Maybe they’ll eat them that way.

  43. User avatar Anju's Mother says:

    3 stars
Veggies were mushy, next time I won’t bake them as long. Chicken was good tho 😊.

  44. User avatar cory.breitenberg0 says:

    2 stars
Honestly I expected more “Italian.” It tasted more like generic roasted chicken. Wouldn’t say no, but I probably won’t make again.

  45. 3 stars
Not sure about 1 cup zucchini being enough? I felt like the pan had more veggies than sauce/spice coverage, so it needed a bit more seasoning. If you’re into bold flavor, I’d double the Italian seasoning.

    1. User avatar mui.rath56 says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean! With sheet pans, it can feel like the veggies are louder than the seasoning. I usually add a pinch more Italian seasoning + a little extra garlic powder and it’s perfect.

  46. User avatar Lynsey Ledner says:

    5 stars
Hell yeah! So simple and tasty. I was in and out of the kitchen in no time!

  47. User avatar georgiann.walsh says:

    2 stars
Looks good but why no lemon or balsamic? It’s Italian-ish, but not like real Italian food, ya know.

    1. 4 stars
Totally hear you on the lemon/balsamic vibe. This one’s more “Italian-inspired” than super traditional—without those, it stays a bit lighter and simpler (mostly the garlic powder + Italian seasoning do the flavor work). If you want, you could add lemon juice/zest right after baking or drizzle a little balsamic at the end for that tangy, real-Italian feel.

  48. User avatar son.okuneva says:

    5 stars
Made this tonight and it was super easy. The veggies actually got roasted instead of soggy—400°F for 25 minutes felt about right. I added a little red pepper flakes too. Delicious!

  49. User avatar dewey.hill says:

    4 stars
400°F for 25 min worked for my chicken breasts, but honestly the seasoning amounts felt a bit “light.” Could just be my taste buds, lol.

  50. User avatar wilmer.daniel says:

    5 stars
Love sheet pan dinners, less dishes. Only thing: I added a squeeze of lemon at the end and it made it taste way brighter.

  51. User avatar elfreda.lockman says:

    3 stars
It was alright, but I think the chicken was a bit dry. Maybe I cooked it too long?

  52. User avatar brigida.larson says:

    3 stars
I followed the recipe but my chicken came out dry. What’s the secret to keeping it juicy?

  53. User avatar glory.senger says:

    5 stars
Super simple. 2 minutes of prep and then the oven does all the work. 5/5 would eat again 😂

    1. User avatar luciano.kovacek says:

      5 stars
Agreed! Sheet pan recipes are the best kind of lazy 😂 The veggies always come out so good at 400°F.

  54. User avatar rachel.conn1983 says:

    2 stars
    It’s ok.

    1. User avatar gail.koch1990 says:

      5 stars
Just OK? I think it’s amazing! So easy and delicious.

  55. 5 stars
    Wow, just wow!

  56. User avatar Mary Goldner says:

    2 stars
This is so not Italian lol. Where’s the pasta???

  57. User avatar cristopher.larson1958 says:

    5 stars
This was soooo easy to make! My kids loved it too. Will definitely make again!

    1. 3 stars
Easy? I don’t know, looks like there are too many steps for me. But it’s still cool you pulled it off!

    2. User avatar alberto.mcclure says:

      5 stars
I’m so glad your kids loved it! It’s great when you can make something easy and tasty for the family.

  58. User avatar elidia.bailey27 says:

    3 stars
Not bad! But I used frozen vegetables and they got mushy. Fresh are def better!

    1. 4 stars
Yeah, frozen veggies can be hit or miss! Fresh definitely give you that nice crunch, I agree.

  59. User avatar ArabianNights says:

    5 stars
Made it last night, my husband loved it! Even my picky eater asked for seconds. Thanks!

    1. User avatar laureen.jacobs says:

      5 stars
That’s awesome! I love it when picky eaters enjoy a dish. What else do you like to cook?

    2. 2 stars
Really? I tried it and my husband didn’t like it at all. Guess he’s just picky too, lol.

  60. User avatar Sherman Collins says:

    5 stars
Made this for dinner with my family, and they ate it all! Can’t believe how simple yet tasty it was!

  61. User avatar isiah.bergstrom60 says:

    5 stars
I loved it!!! 🍅🍗 Best sheet pan recipe I’ve tried. So easy to make!

  62. 3 stars
I followed it exactly and everything was fine… except my chicken dried out. Maybe my breasts were thinner. Still, the veggies were tasty.

  63. User avatar rudolf.cruickshank4 says:

    4 stars
Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! I’ll be making this for sure again! 🍅🍗

    1. User avatar tana.becker1979 says:

      5 stars
Yum! This looks fantastic. I love how easy it is to just throw everything on a sheet pan! Can’t wait to try it! 😊

    2. 3 stars
Looks good but is it really that easy? I’ve stumbled before with chicken, lol! 🤔

  64. User avatar Sand-Dial says:

    4 stars
Pretty good, but 25 minutes felt a little short for my chicken breasts. I had to bake closer to 35 minutes. Still tasted great though.

  65. User avatar stevie.wolf73 says:

    5 stars
I followed it exactly and it came out perfect. Even my picky kid ate the peppers and tomatoes. Simple wins.

    1. User avatar Galadriel says:

      3 stars
I mean… I followed the steps but mine came out a little bland. Maybe I was heavy with salt? Or my chicken was thinner so it dried out. Still decent though.

    2. User avatar candice.brekke69 says:

      5 stars
Love this! I tried it once and it was basically hands-off—400°F and done. Glad your kid ate the peppers too 😂

  66. User avatar rickiestmorty says:

    3 stars
Tried it but my chicken was a little dry at the end, even though I followed the timing. Next time I’ll check earlier or pound the breasts thinner. Still flavorful though—would make again with slight tweaks.

  67. 3 stars
It was okay but needed more seasoning. I think I might try adding some lemon next time.

  68. User avatar jerlene.johnson says:

    4 stars
Yay! We loved it! Best sheet pan recipe! Just had to add extra cheese, tho!

    1. User avatar jorge.feeney says:

      5 stars
So glad you enjoyed it! Extra cheese is always a win! Yum! 😋

  69. User avatar Link's Uncle says:

    4 stars
I just put everything on the same pan without following the steps and it turned out fine! So simple, y’know?

  70. User avatar annalisa.cummings52 says:

    2 stars
Way too much garlic powder? Or maybe my taste buds are broken 😅 Still, the veggies were good and the chicken was juicy.

  71. 3 stars
Mine came out kinda bland until I salted a little more. Also my zucchini needed longer—maybe I cut them too thick.

  72. User avatar Sharon Howe Jr. says:

    4 stars
Pretty solid and easy, but my chicken needed like 35 minutes (thicker breasts). Also I wish the veggies were tossed a bit more so they got more color.

  73. User avatar qiana.nicolas2008 says:

    2 stars
This dish was not authentic Italian at all! You need more spices and real Parmesan cheese to call it Italian! 😒

    1. User avatar williams.sawayn says:

      2 stars
But Italian is all about the flavors! You need to add more than just some sprinkle of seasoning. Real chefs would never subsitute like that! 😠

    2. User avatar carlton.schaden says:

      5 stars
I disagree! This recipe is delicious as it is. Sometimes simple is better. 😍

  74. User avatar sol.stracke77 says:

    3 stars
I found it kinda bland. Maybe I’ll add more spices next time. Everyone raved though, so maybe it’s just me.

    1. 3 stars
Bland? Nah, not in my kitchen! But we all have different tastebuds, I guess. Give it another shot with more garlic!

    2. User avatar Pizpot Gargravarr says:

      4 stars
I totally get that! Maybe try adding some red pepper flakes or fresh herbs? A little zest can really turn up the flavor.

  75. 3 stars
I followed it exactly, but it came out a bit bland for me. I ended up adding more salt and some balsamic vinegar. Would try again with tweaks.

  76. User avatar lavonne.gorczany1999 says:

    2 stars
I think there should be more seasoning options. Felt kinda bland.

  77. 2 stars
I added mushrooms and carrots but didn’t like the taste. I guess I’m picky. Sorry! 🙁

  78. User avatar carlton.oreilly says:

    3 stars
Mixed feeling here. The recipe seemed easy but my oven isn’t as powerful. Had to cook longer. Could use a bit more flavor too.

  79. User avatar tifany.denesik2021 says:

    5 stars
I like sheet pan meals, and this one didn’t disappoint. The seasoning combo (Italian + garlic powder) smelled amazing while baking.

  80. User avatar leoma.brekke1977 says:

    5 stars
Tried this tonight and it’s genuinely delicious—everything roasts up nicely and the seasoning really ties it together. I added lemon zest at the end and it made it pop.

  81. User avatar Piter De Vries says:

    3 stars
I’m not sure how I feel about the Italian seasoning, it didn’t really taste like Italy to me lol.

    1. 4 stars
I thought the Italian seasoning was good! It gave the chicken a nice flavor, but I guess everyone has different taste buds. 😊

  82. User avatar cornell.herman51 says:

    4 stars
Simple to make! I just cut up everything and threw it in the oven. My kids ate all the veggies, which is a win!

  83. User avatar MAGA2024.Trumpster says:

    4 stars
Quick and easy! I used the frozen veggies I had in the freezer. Still turned out nice. Thanks!

  84. User avatar efrain.pouros says:

    4 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about putting everything on the same pan, but the veggies were actually tender and not sad. Nice flavor.

    1. User avatar maryalice.bernier50 says:

      5 stars
Totally get the skepticism 😄 I love when a sheet pan actually delivers—tender veggies and not mushy. The Italian seasoning + garlic powder combo is doing the heavy lifting!

  85. User avatar tamisha.terry says:

    5 stars
Made this tonight—so easy and the flavors are spot on. The veggies got nicely roasted, and the chicken stayed juicy. Will definitely repeat.

    1. User avatar estefana.mitchell97 says:

      5 stars
Love hearing this! Sheet-pan chicken is the best—minimal effort, maximum flavor. 😄 Did you cut the chicken in thin cutlets or cook full breasts as written?

  86. User avatar ArabianNights says:

    5 stars
This was so delicious! The chicken turned out juicy and the veggies were perfectly roasted. Will definitely make it again!

  87. User avatar malcom.leffler26 says:

    4 stars
400°F seems high? I did it at 350 once and the chicken was weirdly underdone, so I guess your instructions are right.

  88. User avatar arnulfo.greenfelder says:

    3 stars
Not bad at all, but mine came out a little bland—probably because I didn’t go heavy on the salt/pepper. Next time I’ll also add chili flakes.

  89. User avatar abe.dooley says:

    5 stars
5 stars! My whole family devoured it. Super flavorful! 👏

  90. User avatar nancey.purdy11 says:

I’m not sure about the combination of flavors. Kinda bland if you ask me. 1 star.

  92. User avatar anonymous_hacker says:

    4 stars
Can’t wait to try this! My kids love chicken and I need quick dinners!

  93. 3 stars
This was just okay. The chicken came out a bit dry for my taste.

  94. User avatar Carrol Mayer III says:

Not bad but I used “Italian seasoning” and it tasted kinda bland? maybe I didn’t use enough salt/pepper. Could be my fault though lol.

I feel you—1 tsp Italian seasoning can be a little mild depending on the brand. I usually do a bit more + more salt at the end. Did you salt the chicken itself, or just “to taste” on the whole pan?

Maybe your oven runs hot? Mine at 400°F cooks faster and the seasoning tastes stronger when the veggies get a little char. Also, I’m team “more pepper” lol.

I followed it exactly and it turned out okay, but the chicken was dry. Maybe I should’ve covered it or used thighs instead.

That makes sense—25 minutes at 400°F can dry out chicken breasts depending on thickness. Covering with foil for part of the bake or using thighs would help a lot!

Hmmm I dunno. I followed it and it was fine for me, but my chicken were kinda small. Maybe you didn’t rest it long enough? Also could be oven runs hot…

Couldn’t get the chicken cooked through in 25 minutes in my oven. Also my peppers burned a little, maybe cut thicker? Still edible though.

I’m skeptical about cooking chicken and veggies together for only 25 minutes. The peppers were a little crunchy for me, but flavor was good.

Honestly I didn’t expect much, but the flavor was better than my usual chicken-and-veg routine. Tomatoes sweetened everything.

Whole family ate it and asked for seconds. The Italian seasoning + garlic powder combo is the real MVP here.

Seriously adding Italian seasoning + garlic powder is the move. I always underestimate how much seasoning affects the whole sheet pan—going to try this exact combo!

I believe you but I’m also skeptical… 25 minutes at 400°F for chicken breasts can be kinda hit or miss depending on thickness. Did you cover it or just bake straight?

I’m not usually a “sheet pan” person, but this was genuinely low-effort. I added a squeeze of lemon at the end and it made it pop.

I don’t have cherry tomatoes so I used grape ones—worked fine. Next time I’ll add onions because I’m a garlic person and onions are life.

Five stars?? It’s basically just dumping stuff on a tray. Not mad, just saying. I did add Italian dressing and it was 10x better lol.

Sounds good, but isn’t that a little too easy? 🤔 Seems like a shortcut meal.

I don’t know about using cherry tomatoes. Aren’t those more for salads? Just seems weird.

Cherry tomatoes can actually add great flavor to roasted dishes! Give it a try, you might be surprised!

This is the worst! The chicken didn’t cook right, and the veggies were mushy!

Not bad. My zucchini got a little soggy after 25 minutes, so I think I’d roast a little longer or cut thicker. Flavor was still solid.

Yummy!! Made this last night, and boy it was a hit!!!

This is a nice weeknight meal, but I don’t get why it says toss the vegetables lightly—once they’re around the chicken it’s more like I just flung everything around 😂

Pretty good, but I think 25 minutes might be a little short depending on chicken thickness. I baked closer to 30 and it came out perfect.

The seasoning mix is a little bland to me as written—next time I’ll add red pepper flakes or some parmesan. Otherwise pretty solid.
