Halloween Cheesecake

October 14, 2024

Halloween Cheesecake is a spooky and delicious dessert that’s perfect for your Halloween celebrations. With its creamy, smooth texture and festive, colorful decorations, this cheesecake is a showstopper for any party or gathering. Whether you prefer a classic cheesecake base or a more playful, themed twist, Halloween Cheesecake offers endless possibilities for customization. From eerie spider webs to ghoulish ghost faces, this dessert is as fun to make as it is to eat!

To make the base of your Halloween Cheesecake, start by preparing a simple graham cracker crust. The crunchy, buttery crust provides a perfect contrast to the creamy filling. Once the crust is set, the cheesecake filling is made with cream cheese, sugar, eggs, and vanilla, creating a rich and velvety texture. To give it a festive fall flavor, you can add pumpkin puree and pumpkin spice to the filling for a seasonal twist, or keep it classic with a smooth vanilla base.

For an extra layer of spookiness, you can divide the cheesecake batter into two parts. One part can be left white, while the other can be tinted with orange food coloring to create a layered, two-tone effect. You can also swirl the orange batter into the white filling for a marbled look that gives a fun, Halloween vibe.

Once baked and chilled, the cheesecake is ready for decoration. A simple whipped cream topping can be piped onto the surface, and then you can add Halloween-themed decorations like candy spiders, edible eyes, or small plastic bats. For a fun, dramatic effect, a drizzle of red berry compote or strawberry sauce can resemble “bloody” blood splatters across the top. You could also use crushed Oreos to make “dirt” or chocolate ganache to form a spiderweb design.

Halloween Cheesecake is not only a treat for the taste buds but also a visual delight that will wow your guests. It’s a versatile dessert that can be as creepy or cute as you like, and it’s easy to adapt depending on your creativity and the flavors you enjoy. Whether you go for a classic pumpkin cheesecake or something more whimsical, this Halloween dessert is sure to become a favorite for years to come.

Spooky and delicious! The pumpkin + spices combo tastes super warm, and the graham crust stayed nicely crisp. I let mine chill overnight and it sliced clean.

  2. 4 stars
So easy to make! I didn’t have black frosting, so I used colorful sprinkles instead. Still looked cute!

  3. User avatar Eddie the Computer says:

    3 stars
The graham cracker crust was too hard for me. Next time I will crush them less.

    1. 4 stars
I had the same issue with the crust! It’s hard if you don’t crush them enough. Maybe try a food processor next time!

  4. User avatar Leto Atreides says:

My mom used to make something like this but without pumpkin… idk why people like pumpkin so much.

    1. User avatar oPandariaNo says:

I totally get what you mean! Pumpkin isn’t for everyone. But this cheesecake looks fun for Halloween! 🎃

    2. User avatar Karry Langosh Sr. says:

Pumpkin? Yuck! My mom made it with chocolate! Way better! You should try that instead.

Not gonna lie, 3 packages of cream cheese is kinda a lot (in a good way). I used low-fat once and it wasn’t as rich—full fat wins.

  6. 4 stars
I made this and it turned out pretty good, but mine cracked a little on top. I think I overbaked because “center is just set” is a little vague. Still tasted great though—next time I’ll pull it a bit earlier.

  7. User avatar joshua.gorczany says:

    5 stars
I made this for a party and everyone loved it! So creamy!

  8. User avatar vernie.lesch14 says:

Isn’t pumpkin just for pie? Mixing with cheese seems weird…

  9. User avatar Leslie Boyle says:

    3 stars
I dunno, I expected more pumpkin flavor. It was okay, but not great.

  10. User avatar kimberley.emard28 says:

    4 stars
I followed it pretty much exactly and mine baked in like 50 min instead of 1 hour—still turned out creamy though. The frosting was the best part.

  11. User avatar tyrone.rosenbaum1987 says:

Pumpkin cheesecake? Never thought I’d love it. Surprised myself! 🍰

    1. User avatar linh.williamson says:

I was skeptical too, but this actually sounds delicious! Can’t wait to try it. 🎃

  12. User avatar burton.hermiston1962 says:

Baked it for 50 minutes and it was perfect!! So happy with how it turned out!

  13. User avatar harvey.vonrueden3 says:

Kinda confused: preheat 350 and bake 1 hour… but then cooling and refrig overnight—so it takes foreverrr. Still worth it for Halloween though.

    1. User avatar lucienne.wiegand2023 says:

      5 stars
Yeah the baking + chill time is definitely the long part 😅 But the overnight rest is what makes it slice clean for Halloween.

  14. User avatar winter.littel20 says:

    4 stars
Not bad at all. I used fresh pumpkin and it came out more bright/orange than I expected, but everyone ate it fast. I may cut the sugar slightly next time.

    1. User avatar Prostetnic Vogon Kwaltz says:

      5 stars
Thanks! Fresh pumpkin definitely can be way more vibrant—glad it turned out bright and that everyone ate it fast 😄 Cutting the sugar next time sounds like a great tweak, especially if your puree is sweeter.

    2. 4 stars
I tried this once and mine got super orange too (I thought it was just me lol). Next time I’m gonna start with a little less sugar like you said. Also 4 hours in the fridge is real important or it’s kinda soft.

  15. User avatar myron.roberts88 says:

    4 stars
I followed it pretty closely, but I baked closer to 1 hr 10 min because the center wasn’t “just set” at 1 hour. Still turned out creamy, though. The black frosting detail was cute.

  16. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

    2 stars
I used low-fat cream cheese once and it came out watery. So yeah, use full-fat or expect sadness. Otherwise, great recipe.

  17. 2 stars
Can i use low-fat cream cheese? I’m trying to be healthier and still make it for the party.

    1. User avatar Frost Giant says:

      3 stars
I guess so? But low-fat stuff can make it watery and it might not set right. If you try it, don’t overmix and keep it chilled overnight. Otherwise go full fat for reliability, lol.

    2. User avatar shon.kassulke77 says:

      4 stars
Yes, you can—low-fat cream cheese usually works fine for cheesecake. Just note it may be a bit softer/less rich, so bake time could be slightly different. I’d start checking around the 50–55 minute mark and look for a “just set” center.

  18. User avatar kathi.daniel0 says:

Made this for my kid’s party and it was a hit! Everyone loved it. Thanks for the recipe!

    1. User avatar laurence.greenfelder4 says:

I’m so glad it was a hit! This recipe is really fun for parties. How did your kid and their friends like the Jack o’ Lantern face?

  19. User avatar tina.waelchi42 says:

Not too sweet, which is good. But the spices were a bit much. 🤔

  20. User avatar lenard.fisher says:

This turned out amazing! Best Halloween dessert ever! 🎃

  21. User avatar maryjo.russel18 says:

    3 stars
I thought this would be easy but I messed up the crust! I must have added too much butter. Still tasted good tho.

    1. User avatar angie.mclaughlin15 says:

      4 stars
Don’t worry! The best part is that it still tasted good. Must’ve been all that butter! 😂

  22. User avatar jeffery.boehm14 says:

    2 stars
Meh. With all that sugar, it’s just too sweet for my taste. Probably won’t make it again.

  23. User avatar ronnie.dietrich56 says:

    3 stars
Took too long to cool down. I was too impatient and it fell apart. 🙁

  24. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

    CHEESECAKE FOREVER!

  25. User avatar morton.satterfield75 says:

    2 stars
Too much cinnamon for my taste. Also, my pumpkin puree seemed watery, so the filling took longer to set. I’d reduce cinnamon/ginger next time.

  26. User avatar ellsworth.klocko says:

    5 stars
This is the best cheesecake ever! I loved the pumpkin flavor and the spices. My family devoured it!

  27. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

    5 stars
This cheesecake is a game changer! I’ve never made cheesecake before and it came out perfect! The spices really bring the flavor to life. 🍰🎃

  28. User avatar kali.miller95 says:

    3 stars
Honestly, I don’t see what all the fuss is about. It was okay, but mine cracked while baking. What did I do wrong? 🤔

    1. User avatar Random Dent says:

      2 stars
I don’t get why people love this either. Mine didn’t crack but it was just meh. Maybe baking is not for everyone. 🤷‍♂️

    2. 4 stars
Did you let the cheesecake cool slowly? If you open the oven too soon, it can crack. Try baking it longer next time!

  29. User avatar Falmer Gloomlurker says:

    4 stars
Had to improvise and used gingerbread cookies for the crust. Still turned out pretty good!

  30. User avatar jonna.erdman says:

    4 stars
I’m skeptical about how it would taste without a water bath, but honestly it worked. The spices are balanced and not overpowering.

  31. User avatar dale.funk75 says:

    3 stars
Not gonna lie, I’m skeptical about “just set” at 350°F for 1 hour. My center always jiggles and I panic. Still, flavor was great.

  32. User avatar tony.white58 says:

    5 stars
This looks dangerously good. Pumpkin + cheesecake is already a win, and the Jack o’ Lantern top is such a fun Halloween touch!

  33. User avatar karrie.streich71 says:

    5 stars
SO yummy! The spices are perfect for fall. Will make again for Thanksgiving!

  34. User avatar Jeanette Stracke says:

    2 stars
Followed the recipe exactly, but it cracked on top. What did I do wrong?

  35. 4 stars
Yum! But can I use a store-bought crust? I’m lazy.

  36. User avatar suzanna.stanton says:

    5 stars
This cheesecake is to die for! Perfect for Halloween! 🎃

  37. User avatar Modesto Bayer PhD says:

    5 stars
Yummy!! But I forgot the eggs and it still turned out fine! How is that even possible??? LOL!!

  38. User avatar charla.mclaughlin says:

    2 stars
I don’t get why it says preheat to 350—cheesecake usually needs lower temp so it doesn’t curdle. Mine was fine but I’m skeptical.

  39. User avatar marcellus.walsh says:

    5 stars
Made this for a Halloween party and it was a total hit! The pumpkin flavor is subtle but the spices are spot on. I also let mine chill overnight—perfect texture.

  40. 2 stars
My crust was crumbly and wouldn’t press (but I used cold butter). I think the melted butter part matters more than I thought. Will retry.

  41. User avatar bennie.quitzon96 says:

    5 stars
Yummy! I added extra spice, and it was delish! Gonna make again for Thanksgiving. 🍰

  42. User avatar Meg Nader says:

    2 stars
1 hour at 350? I think that’s too long for cream cheese. Mine got kinda dry… and I followed it. Will try lower temp next time.

  43. 5 stars
Yummy!!! 😋 Will make it again, a true fall treat.

  44. 5 stars
OMG!!! Just made this for a Halloween party, and everyone went crazy over it! Best recipe ever! 🎃

  45. User avatar tama.gerhold2 says:

    2 stars
Are you sure about the baking time? Mine was still runny after an hour. Very confusing!

    1. User avatar germaine.feeney says:

      5 stars
I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out perfect! Maybe the oven temperature was off? 🤔

    2. User avatar tianna.hettinger1963 says:

      3 stars
1 hour seems long. I think it should bake until it’s firm. Maybe check your oven temp next time!

  46. User avatar Charles Darwin says:

    3 stars
Is it really that good? Pumpkin puree in cheesecake sounds weird to me. 🤔

    1. User avatar yanira.doyle64 says:

      5 stars
Trust me, it’s delicious! The pumpkin adds a unique flavor that totally works in cheesecake. 😍

  47. User avatar Osvaldo Rempel says:

    4 stars
I just wanna say, this is the best cheesecake I ever tasted nuh uh! I just eat it and it’s good 🍥.

  48. User avatar Werewolf says:

    5 stars
Yummy! I love fall flavors! Pumpkin spice is life!

  49. 2 stars
    I dunno… I think pumpkin pie is better. 😒

  50. User avatar Ilene South says:

    3 stars
Not gonna lie, I messed up the eggs part and added them all at once—thought it would be fine. It still tastes good, but the texture isn’t as silky as I wanted.

    1. User avatar dortha.brakus says:

      5 stars
Ahhh I’ve totally done that with cheesecake before 😅 The flavor still comes through, but yeah—mixing the eggs all at once can make the texture a bit less silky. Next time, add them one at a time like the recipe says and don’t overmix after.

    2. User avatar arnette.mueller30 says:

      4 stars
350°F for 1 hour is kinda short/long depending on your oven. If the center got just set but still had that slightly off texture, you might also need to bake until the edges are set and the middle jiggles a bit. Adding eggs all at once won’t help either.

  51. User avatar shaun.heidenreich1988 says:

    2 stars
This recipe is confusing. 9-inch pan? Where I live, we use centimeters 😕

    1. 4 stars
I understand your confusion! In my country, we usually use centimeters too. A 9-inch pan is about 23 cm, if that helps!

  52. User avatar Sand-Dial says:

    4 stars
I was skeptical at first! Pumpkin and cheesecake? Nah! But wow. This is soooo delicious! I decorated mine with cute little ghosts too! 👻

  53. User avatar Dr. Carla Kuhn says:

    3 stars
Mine cracked a lot on the top. Is there a way to fix that next time?

  54. User avatar donny.blanda72 says:

    3 stars
I thought this was going to be more like a regular cheesecake. Can we even call it cheesecake if it has pumpkin? Seems weird lol.

  55. User avatar latesha.larson2019 says:

    5 stars
This cheesecake was a huge hit at our Halloween party! Everyone loved it! 🎃

    1. User avatar CTRLplusW says:

      5 stars
I tried this recipe for a family gathering and it was fantastic too! So creamy and delicious!

    2. User avatar emory.doyle1954 says:

      3 stars
Sounds good, but I’m not sure if pumpkin and cream cheese really mix well. 🤔

  56. 4 stars
Jack o’ Lantern frosting was easyyy 😅 but the cheesecake cracked a bit. I let it cool too fast maybe—still tasted amazing!

  57. 5 stars
This cheesecake is a total hit! My family loved it. The pumpkin flavor is just right.

  58. User avatar Samwise Gamgee says:

    2 stars
Not my fav. Too much pumpkin. I prefer traditional cheesecakes, but my kids liked it! 😅

  59. User avatar w00d_ch0p says:

    3 stars
Mine cracked on top after baking—don’t know what I did wrong. Tasted good though, just looked spooky in a bad way lol. Cooling slowly might help.

  60. User avatar raymond.gutmann says:

    3 stars
I replaced the ginger with paprika by accident. It was still okay but not what I imagined.

    1. 3 stars
Wow, paprika in a cheesecake? That’s brave! I guess it could add a bit of a kick, but I don’t know if I’d try that personally.

    2. User avatar tory.beier54 says:

      2 stars
Paprika? Seriously? That’s not even close to ginger. I don’t think it could ever be okay. Stick to the recipe next time!
