Halloween Cake Pops

October 14, 2024

Halloween Cake Pops are the perfect bite-sized treats for any spooky celebration. With their fun and festive designs, these cake pops bring a creative twist to your Halloween dessert table. Whether you’re hosting a Halloween party or looking for a fun activity with the kids, making Halloween Cake Pops is an easy and delightful way to enjoy the holiday season. Coated in colorful candy melts and decorated with eerie faces, monsters, or pumpkins, these cake pops are as fun to make as they are to eat.

To create the base for Halloween Cake Pops, start by baking your favorite cake flavor. Once the cake has cooled, crumble it into fine crumbs and mix with frosting. The frosting helps bind the cake crumbs together, forming a dough-like consistency. Once mixed, roll the cake and frosting mixture into small balls, about the size of a golf ball. Insert a stick into each cake ball and freeze them for a bit to ensure they hold their shape when dipped.

For the fun part – decorating! Dip each cake pop into melted candy melts in orange, purple, black, or white to create the perfect Halloween color palette. You can drizzle different colors of melted chocolate over the pops for a striped effect, or cover them completely for a smooth, shiny finish. After dipping, let the cake pops cool and harden before adding spooky faces, like jack-o’-lanterns, mummies, or googly-eyed monsters.

Halloween Cake Pops can be further decorated with sprinkles, edible glitter, or chocolate drizzle for an extra touch of flair. You can also use fondant or colored icing to pipe designs, making each cake pop look like a miniature piece of Halloween art. For a cute and creepy touch, you could add little candy eyeballs or use white chocolate to create spider webs or ghost faces.

These cake pops are easy to customize, allowing you to get creative with different designs and flavors. You can make classic chocolate or vanilla cake pops or add in other fall-inspired flavors like pumpkin spice or caramel. Whether you’re serving them at a party, giving them out as favors, or enjoying them as a treat, Halloween Cake Pops are a fun and delicious way to bring some spooky cheer to your celebration!

I was skeptical, but these actually turned out good. My co-workers were impressed!

    1. 2 stars
Wow, coworkers impressed? I doubt they could’ve liked them that much, it’s just cake on a stick!

    2. 5 stars
That’s awesome! I’m glad they turned out well for you! I was hesitant too, but now I’m convinced to try it!

  10. User avatar lee.stroman says:

    1 star
LOL, how do you make them look like yours in the pic? Mine look like blobs!

    1. 2 stars
I dunno, mine always turn out weird too. Maybe they’re too soft or something? 🤷‍♂️

    2. User avatar thad.gulgowski16 says:

      4 stars
Practice makes perfect! Maybe try to roll them a bit smoother? And make sure they’re really chilled before dipping.

  11. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

    1 star
I’m confused. How do you melt chocolate chips? Is it really that hard? 🤔

  12. User avatar edmundo.spinka says:

    4 stars
Just a tip: you can use cookie dough instead of cake mix for a more chewy texture. I did that once! It was cool.

  13. 5 stars
These turned out amazing! My kids loved helping make them for their Halloween party. 🍬

  14. 3 stars
Wasn’t hard to make, but the chocolate just wouldn’t stick right. Mine ended up lookin weird lol.

    1. User avatar Jack Hammer says:

      4 stars
I had the same issue! Maybe try letting the chocolate cool a bit before dipping? It might help it stick better. Good luck!

  15. User avatar MAGA2024.Trumpster says:

    3 stars
Wish I could make them as pretty as the picture! Mine looked more like blobs. 😂

  16. 3 stars
They look cute but tasted a bit too sweet for me. Maybe less frosting next time? 🤔

  17. User avatar Katah Chuki says:

    3 stars
This looks like a lot of work. I just buy them from the store usually. But I might try this for Halloween.

  18. User avatar stephan.raynor21 says:

    3 stars
Confusing instructions! Do I need to let the cake cool even if it says so? 😕

    1. User avatar marty.larkin says:

      5 stars
Yes, you definitely need to let the cake cool completely! Otherwise, you might end up with a mess when you try to crumble it. Trust the recipe! 😊

  19. User avatar fay.hermiston says:

    2 stars
Recipe seems easy, but I don’t trust that microwave method for melting chocolate. Isn’t the double boiler better?

    1. User avatar Alia Atreides says:

      4 stars
I get what you’re saying! The double boiler is definitely a classic. But microwaving can work if you keep an eye on it!

  20. User avatar toney.lesch9 says:

    2 stars
I tried these and they came out a bit messy. The chocolate didn’t stick well. 🙁

  21. User avatar tova.schaden11 says:

    2 stars
I don’t know why people make these. Just buy a cake. Sounds easier!

  22. User avatar michal.koss43 says:

    4 stars
To dip properly, you gotta not let it cool too much! I messed mine up the first time; now I know!

Totally agree! The timing is everything, I just learned that the hard way too! 🍰

  29. User avatar ilana.hodkiewicz74 says:

    3 stars
Honestly, they taste kinda dry. I think I overbaked the cake. Gonna try with more frosting next time. 😕

  30. 3 stars
They kinda fell apart when I dipped them… not sure if it was my fault. 🤷‍♀️

    1. User avatar julius.krajcik says:

      4 stars
It happens! They’re tricky to dip sometimes. Maybe let them chill a bit longer next time? 😊

  31. User avatar stanton.mante56 says:

I don’t like chocolate much. Can I use white chocolate? Asking for a friend.

    1. 5 stars
Sure, white chocolate would work fine! Just be aware it’s a bit sweeter than regular chocolate.

    2. 3 stars
I guess you can use white choc but it might not taste as good. Just sayin’.

  36. User avatar herta.hermann4 says:

    3 stars
They’re OK, but the chocolate was way too sweet for my taste. Maybe try using less frosting?

    1. User avatar lisette.heller says:

      4 stars
I agree! The chocolate frosting can be over the top. Less is more sometimes. 😅

  37. User avatar levi.tremblay78 says:

  39. User avatar maxwell.beahan1965 says:

    3 stars
I tried making these, but they fell apart when I dipped them in chocolate. Any tips?

    1. 4 stars
Make sure the cake balls are really cold before dipping them in chocolate. It helps them hold their shape better!

  40. User avatar kiersten.johnston30 says:

    2 stars
Tried this recipe, but my cake pops turned out too soft and fell apart. Did I mix the frosting too much?!

  45. 2 stars
I think they taste weird… like, is cake supposed to be this soft? I don’t know.

    1. User avatar virgie.orn says:

      4 stars
I totally get what you mean! Cake pops can be a bit different from regular cake. The softness is normal since they are meant to be moist and blended with frosting. Maybe they just need to set a bit more? 😊

  46. User avatar Daqa Koth says:

    5 stars
Nice recipe! Just got done making these and they look sooo cute with sprinkles. Perfect for Halloween 🎃

Y’all! I forgot to cool the cake, and it was a mess! 😂

    1. 4 stars
Oh no! 😄 Happens to the best of us! At least it still tasted good, right? Next time, just let it chill a bit longer.

    2. 2 stars

  52. User avatar lawrence.collier13 says:

    2 stars

  69. User avatar nestor.ziemann0 says:

    1 star
Uhhh, where do you even buy cake mix? I’ve only ever used flour and eggs. Is this a new trend?

    1. 5 stars
You can usually find cake mix in the baking aisle at the grocery store! It’s super convenient and a lot of people use it. It’s not really a trend, just a shortcut! 🙂

    1. 4 stars
Clumpy chocolate can happen if you heat it too much. Try melting it slower next time! 😊

  73. 4 stars
So easy! My niece helped me make these and we had a blast! Going to try different flavors next time.

    1. 5 stars
Sounds like so much fun! Can’t wait to try it too! 🎉
